A beautiful traditional chip shop. Customer service is excellent - great food cooked to order, perfectly fresh and the battered sausages are banging! Big credit to Uttoxeter, right in the centre of town. 💯 recommended

EDIT: Went back into and spoke to the owner. He was very nice, took care of us and apologised. The staff and the food were amazing and we will be going back in again. Best chippy in Uttoxeter. Been there before food and atmosphere was good but decided to go for tea tonight as goole said it closes at 9 pm. Got there it looked closed but they were serving a guy. We went in she told us that they are closed and we said that Google said they closed at 9 pm and she told us it closes at 8:30 but it was only 8:20 and when me mentioned this she ignored us. Will only be going when the nice staff are working

Visiting the area yesterday we decided to give this chippy a try because of the good reviews. So glad we did! I have to say that my freshly cooked haddock was right up there with the best I have ever tasted!! It was delicious. A huge fish, big flaky pieces of haddock in a fabulous batter! Big portion of chips too! Highly recommend this chippy. Will definitely be calling in again if we are back in the area.

Really poor attitude from the owner to the girls working for him. You could tell she was nervous and learning and he spoke to her awfully. If you want efficient staff then train them and boost their confidence not kick them down. Good food but I’m not willing to support someone who treats their workers poorly.

The delivery fee is ridiculous, £3.50? There are places further away that charge less than that! Edit: In response to the owner... Firstly, if you're a professional company, why are you using text speak? It's YOU not "U" Secondly, if you knew ANYTHING about customers then you'd know that most people only make themselves known when there's an issue Thirdly: I have tried your food and it was mediocre at best. Seemed to have a lot of green or badly burnt chips.

Stopped off on a Bank Holiday Monday on our way back to Derby from a weekend away. Ordered 2 meal deals at £7 per meal and we were pleasantly suprised at the size of the portions. Cooked fresh and tasted fresh too. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. Well worth diverting off the A50!

Well sorry to say . After the last 3 visits the chips alone have been terrible, waiting around Several minutes last time a round (happy to do so for fresh chips) but served what looked to be warmed up left over chips from the lunch time ...I might be wrong in saying that but that's now the chips looked .. Straight in the bin .. I will not be returning anytime soon ..

I was rather disappointed on my recent visit. I ordered what i hoped was a nice haddock for my tea which turned out to be mush, I was alarmed when i saw the staff member holding the fish over the batter bowl scrapping the dregs of batter with her hand and rubbing it over the fish. When cooked the fish was placed on a side which obviously had not been wiped down for some time ( they were not even busy ). This was a return visit to give it another go after a previous order was messed up. I will not be returning.

The chips from here are absolutely vile! Badly burnt (or rather cremated) chips are extremely common. They used to be good but the last twice I've been most of the chips went in the bin. Won't be in a hurry to return.

After a long drive up for a day at Alton Towers decided on a takeaway. Went for the standard fish and chips, very tasty great portions - 1 large chips was ridiculous, had to tell the lady to stop putting on more chips! Only slight negative was the batter on the freshly ordered large cod was a bit thick and a little under-done in places, fish was tasty, chips were great.

Angelo and his staff saved our wedding day!! The fish and chip van we'd booked to cater our wedding cancelled on us 5 days before!! Angelo came to our rescue and delivered over 90 portions of delicious and piping hot food at exactly the time we needed it and with all the condiments thrown in for free! The fish was HUGE and all the guests commented on how excellent the food was. We can't thank you enough and will be paying a visit next time we're in the area!

The BEST chippy on the area. The one we come back to time and time because we can guarantee it will always be good. We'll be moving out of the area this year so it'll be sad to not have these as our local chippy.

Cod's Corner never disappoints, Angelo and his staff are so lovely, very welcoming and super efficient . They go above and beyond to meet the needs of my elderly father. The home delivery service is excellent ( one Saturday they had no driver, so Angelo took his order up as not to let him down ,now that's what I call a service. The food is always the same quality, week in week out ,you know you will always get value for money☺️and a great meal!!

Bostin place, never get it wrong. I sometimes travel over 30 miles from my home to come here, nice drive out and some even nicer food when you get there. Always big portions considering how reasonably priced they are! Worth the drive out and a definate visit if we are staying nearby at the Forestside camping and caravanning site, which is also really nice if that is your thing!

First class service great menu. Good price I have chicken kebab meat and chips every time I visit. Lovely people always friendly and smile. Nice and clean as well it’s the only chippy I will visit in uttoxeter. 👍

Good service, large portions but to get five stars they would need to cook the chips. I know it's awkward nowadays but it would be nice to walk into a fish and chip shop and be served fish and chips without having to wait about 15 minutes while they cooked it.

Good fish n chips. Hell of a wait

I have always enjoyed my fish and chips from Cods Corner, but not tonight - I was very disappointed with my fish and chips tonight - the fish was drowned in batter and oily fat - the counter top where I eat had pools of fat which I found hard to remove - Oh dear what has gone wrong

Simply amazing! We stayed nearby with our Coeliac son so messaged in advance about gluten free options. The communications were very prompt and incredibly helpful. We ordered a portion of gluten free cod and gluten free battered sausage and gluten free chips. We also had a some regular cod. All the food was fabulous. The cod was so succulent and all the batter (including the gluten free) was light and crispy. The portion sizes were ENORMOUS. The large chips were big enough to feed 4 so really should have only ordered one...and the large cod are HUGE. The service and food and warm welcome was second to none. I only wish this was our local chippy....although my son would be wanting a chippy tea all the time!
