The food is very good and great selection of food to choose from. Price is reasonable too. Would recommend to friends and family.

Lovely cafe/bistro. We've only been for breakfast and recommend it. Lots of choice for brekkie and lunch. Situated in a courtyard off the high Street in Tutbury its a lovely quiet area. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Great to have outside comfy seating.

Lovely afternoon- tapas and bubbles, having a long overdue catch with a friend Service was good, food arrived hot and well presented…. Drinks were served to us at first and then had to go to the bar. Plenty of outdoor seating and some with shade and some in full sun - nice selection of food offered. Parking is in the high street so not too far a walk away. Would recommend

Went for a meal after our wedding with a group of 23. The staff were extremely accommodating both during booking and on the day. We could not have asked for better service from all involved. Regrettably one of the meals (mushroom risotto - avoid like the plague) was inedible but everything else on the menu was fantastic. Five stars overall still despite a few people having to re order. The staff changed the meals out quickly and with no extra charge and were lovely throughout. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Lovely atmosphere and kind staff.

I came here as part of a big group who had ordered all the food beforehand. Despite that, we waited over 40mins before food started coming. Some of us, including myself, ordered a mushroom risotto - this was the most bland thing I have ever eaten. There was no seasoning whatsoever, and the rice was so overcooked you couldn't even identify the grains. It was absolutely awful, they should consider taking it from the menu. Without complaining, because I didn't want to make a fuss, I asked the waitress how long I'd have to wait if I ordered a pizza, she said 25-30min. However, the others who also ordered the risotto decided to complain and then the waitress had a different answer in regards to the time the food would take - in this case, it would be much faster. I guess they keep some food prepared for the customers who complain? Overall, not a very good experience. The pizza I had to replace the risotto was ok-ish but didn't have the chorizo that the menu described. Apart from that, the place has a lovely atmosphere, especially if you sit outside. Also, the other people who did not order the risotto seemed to be happy with their food.

Lovely spot interior great. Made to feel very small by a senior member of staff. Having a garlic allergy I never thought this would be in my classic breakfast so failed to mention. Garlic butter is used for mushrooms I had to take my breakfast back to say I could t eat it but was happy to pay for it but could they take it away. To be told sharply you should have told us it’s on the door as you come in. I said don’t worry but she came back over and said well I will see what I can do but I will need to check the sausage and hash brown as that has onion in it, I replied that’s okay I can eat onion , are you sure onion its part of the same family questioning what I was telling her, yep I am sure I am 56 so aware that I can eat onion. She wasn’t happy but she made me feel about 10 years old and pointed it said it on the menus and I should have told her when ordering quite loudly in the restaurant I take that but also was never asked which I am sure your staff taking the order should check. I got told well she is only 15! Are they not allergy trained 🤷🏼‍♀️ anyway food was beautiful staff attitude awful, and I did get another breakfast they didn’t replace the cold toast mind. But it was the staff attitude I was made to feel small and embarrassed. Won’t be going again that’s for sure.

I am very keen to come here again. I was visiting Tutbury after 40 years, having grown up nearby. The Courtyard was a lovely place to stop and I am sorry to have only had coffee. The cakes looked delicious! Special thanks to Sky, for taking my particular demands for the perfect cup of coffee seriously. Almost everywhere else I go for coffee it seems like a big deal. Sky was attentive, very pleasant and is an asset to the team.

Visited for a glass of prosecco. Will return for some food next time.

Had a lovely brunch/ lunch here. Staff were very helpful and friendly and allowed us to 'tweak' the menu e.g swap sausage for extra bacon, and request well done scrambled eggs. Very nice cheesecake and great coffee afterwards. Could have happily spent the entire afternoon here!

My partner and I went for breakfast after lots of deliberation on where we’d both be happy. We sat outside, in a lovely shaded area, with comfortable seats. We both had lattés, which were smooth. I had a classic breakfast, with a couple of changes for intolerances, which they were more than happy to accommodate. Our front of house member was Evie. Evie was very friendly, polite and definitely deserves a mention in this review! Thanks to everyone, we totally enjoyed our visit today, and we both commented on what good value it was too!

Beautiful location with lot's of comfortable outside seating. Lovely maintained garden and outside area. Staff were very friendly, attentive and customer focused. All our food was delicious with great presentation and hot. The pizza was amazing. Very reasonable prices. Would definitely return and recommend.

Second time visit, the first time fridges Broken no cold Prosecco offered ice cubes😬 Visited yesterday ordered ham egg and chips, sorry no ham ok I have steak open sandwich on ciabatta order taken. 5 mins later sorry we have no ciabatta would you like white or brown bread? Next Iam presented with fish goujons open sandwich placed on the table in front of me. Not mine picked up and given to another customer after I had talked over the food 🤢 Then our food arrived two steak open sandwich with cheeses garlic sauces white bread. Unfortunately not toasted so Goo hey mess in the middle, what was worse is, as the waitress placed the plates in front of us she commented “the ciabatta has arrived if you had ordered it now you would have had it “😮 Unbelievable my wife and I have very little time off together a spot of lunch at no12 was a disaster. £35 for disappointment could do better was our opinion .You need to know what you can serve at the point of order.

Such an amzn.eu place. Really well kept and really well presented abs decorated. I'll definitely be planning more visits to Tutbury if only to visit courtyard @ no.12

Lovely spot and delicious food.

We visited The Courtyard as part of the Tap into Tutbury event - which was a fantastic initiative! The place was a LOT busier than we’ve experienced before but we managed to bag an outdoor table, we wanted to order something light to eat and were informed that, yes that wouldn’t be a problem but there would be a delay on food. We hadn’t booked a table so completely understood as you could see how busy they were. As usual, the food was good and the delay wasn’t a problem - just meant we had to sit and have a few more beers in the glorious sun!!

Ate in here and had take aways alway been good. Decided last night to order a take away pizza ham & pineapple (I know) walked in to order long wait for the order, got home very disappointed food cold pizza consisted of cheese half a dozen pieces of packet ham half a dozen pieces of pineapple tasteless food very disappointed won’t be rushing back allowing standards to drop does not increase trade

Good food,but could do with more choices on the menu

Having spent quite a bit of money here, I was turned away today as they were too busy apparently. It wasn't that busy and the reserved tables weren't booked for another hour and a half. You should be happy to be busy! Anyway I found a great place down the road and they can have my money from now on.

Sad to say this review isn't great. My last review was. The serving staff were great quick and efficient. However, the Festive Fayre Menu was not great. The Menu was not on the website, we kept looking and when I enquired was told it would be but never was. It seemed a bit of a hurried menu? We had the Turkey Escalopes and they were so salty we couldn't eat too much of them. I like to add my own salt if necessary. We then had the Baileys Brulee which was nice but couldn't taste any Baileys whatsoever. We were then charged wrong. They put that right but were overcharged again - we will put it down to a Xmas tip for the staff - which is fine this time - but check your bills people. Bit disappointed if I'm honest as normally it's one of my fave places.

Nice selection of food and a real array of drinks. Particularly liked the small plates. Very generous portions of good quality eats. Staff super friendly and enjoyed the convivial atmosphere

Went for a party and hired out venue. Lovely buffet food and staff were fantastic. Nice decor and place.

I don't like to leave a bad review but sadly our dining experience was a disappointment. It was some time since our previous visit and the contrast was striking. Firstly the restaurant was cold and almost empty. Then we were informed that the set menu was not available as the chef wasn't there. We all opted for pizzas as this seemed like a safe option. Three of the five pizzas were good but two had cold and uncooked vegetables on them. Obviously being British we didn't complain or send them back! Desserts were ok but nothing special. On the plus side the drinks were good. This feels like a business that is on the verge of failure. I hope this isn't so, maybe just an off day. But we won't be rushing back to find out.

Can't really judge atmosphere, as we were outside cause we had dogs with us. Food was OK, been previously and it was better then in all honesty. Young staff lacked enthusiasm, older waitress was much more approachable and attentive

Excellent venue with brilliant staff!

We visited here for lunch and the place is gorgeous. It's well themed and feels warm as soon as you walk through the door. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. There's plenty of seating inside and outside (outside is under cover so it's not an issue when it's raining), but we did notice as evening drew closer they were putting out lots of reservation signs on tables so bare that in mind you might want to book if visiting in an evening. Plenty of food & drink to choose from at a reasonable price. Me and my partner both had a beef burger and it was beyond our expectations.

Had a lovely veggie breakfast here. The staff were really nice. For Tutbury it was a good price also.

We were a party of 20 for my baby shower. Earlier in the week, I had discussed on the phone if we could have the marquee outside, how they would already set the tables up for us and if we could come for 11am to set up. Upon arrival, we had to wait as the tables still had customers but once they left, the staff swiftly put the tables together for us. I didn’t get her name but the lady with short red/blonde hair was absolutely brilliant. She made sure our drinks order was taken and asked when we would like food to be served. Staff were prompt on serving drinks and the food was beautiful, lots to fill our boots! I was shocked and disappointed that vegetarian options for afternoon tea were served on plates next to ham and tuna sandwiches. We asked for fresh that hadn’t touched meat but the blonde waitress was clearly annoyed by this request. However, the great waitress from before apologised for this and said this should not have happened. Overall, a good experience and I am glad I chose here for my baby shower. Just a few tweaks and it would have been perfect!

Lovely little hidden gem with great coffee and even better cake!

I have been to the courtyard for food several times and it has always been lovely. So we decided to book here for my little girls christening party and we booked afternoon tea. Unfortunately what we were told when booking and why we got was very different! The food was lovely and the venue is brilliant but the service and SOME of the staff really let it down. We had to ask several times for the afternoon tea to be served to our guests, then had to wait for cakes, then wait again for tea and coffee to be served which we had to ask for multiple times. We also had to collect the plates ourselves and take them to the staff so that they could be washed and then used for the cake. We felt really let down by this and again SOME of the staff were quite rude and very unhelpful. It really let us down as we have always had such a great experience here. Such a shame.

This place is beautiful, great atmosphere and also has outside seating. We had a fabulous meal! Service was prompt, staff are accommodating and friendly. They offer a good selection meals that are well presented and plentiful. Remember to leave room for dessert, we were too full, but they looked divine. Would certainly recommend a visit here

Great for breakfast with a good variety of dishes. Coffee was tasty and they had a varied choice. Nice atmosphere in the courtyard with plenty of tree cover on hot days.

Lovely lunch of light bites menu - good value, nice and hot, beautifully presented. Sat outside in the Courtyard which is absolutely lovely, good service, waitresses seemed very happy and welcoming.

Had my birthday party here recently it was absolutely amazing ! Lovely staff , great food , amazing service will definitely be visiting again!

Upon arrival we were greeted by a particularly unfriendly waitress, no warmth or smile; she genuinely looked annoyed that we were even there when we walked in! Despite booking over two month’s ago for a friend’s special Birthday (and paying a deposit) we were told that we only had an hour to an hour and a half MAX to order and eat as another party were arriving! When we told the waitress this was a little unfair she said ‘well I have no idea who made your booking but that’s the situation!’ She couldn’t have cared less, then a ‘manager’ came over; didn’t try and appease us or apologise; in fact she was even more rude than the first woman. Honestly it was so shocking! All of the hot drinks were Luke warm but we didn’t dare mention it because they were so mean! The prosecco was nice, the food was nice enough (nothing special) and the venue was in a very pleasant position in the lovely courtyard but we were appalled by the customer service. Two of the rudest women we have all ever encountered within hospitality. (Some of us work in the field!). Shocking and really unfair! None of us would ever return!

What a disappointment! Visited yesterday (8 of us in total) for a Prosecco brunch for a friends 50th. Booked back in Feb and also paid a deposit for us all as advised we would need to. Arrived just after 11am to be given wrong menus first. When I pointed out we’d booked the Prosecco brunch they seemed slightly put out as it wasn’t on the booking. Anyway as there were a few of us and we hadn’t seen each other for a while we spent a good 15 mins catching up and chatting - as women do. Not at any point did anyone during this time offer any drinks, pour our fizz ready or ask if we were her ready to order. We were greeted by a really rude waitress upon arrival and then same waitress proceeded to tell us at 11:20am that we needed to be off the table by 12pm as they’d got a private booking. When mentioned that at no point had anyone stated this upon booking, paying the deposit or arriving they couldn’t care less. Fed back our disappointment but again didn’t really care. At 11:26am another waitress came over and said that the kitchen was closing at 11:30am so we had four mins to place our order, with a further 30 mins to eat up. Still at this point - despite the menu stating we had two glasses of Prosecco with our brunch we hadn’t received a single offer of a drink. Anyway quickly placed our order and eventually got some drinks. We did speak to a few team members about the lack of service and poor customer service but all one kept saying was “I don’t even know who took the booking?!” Food subsequently arrived prompt (to get us out in time no doubt) and it was ok. Not bad, but ok. Food was lukewarm, coffee was lukewarm but having previously fed back we didn’t feel it was worth raising these issues as clearly no one cared anyway. We then got asked if we wanted the pastries that were on our menu or just more Prosecco. No doubt in an effort to clear the table; however we did opt for the pastries as this is what we had chosen. At no point was a check back conducted during the brunch and we were generally just made to feel really unwelcome. We did receive our coffees free of charge but there was not one apology, or any customer service given and to be honest left such an awful atmosphere that it completely ruined our friends 50th celebrations. Really disappointed because actually this place has such huge potential in a lovely’s setting. 8 ladies that most definitely won’t be back. Such a shame as we had this planned for ages and were really looking forward to it.

We found ourselves with a moment to spare when our children were otherwise engaged elsewhere so we called in for a late-lunch early-dinner for a Mom & Dad date. We were in and out in 50 minutes but had a nice time. Very fast and friendly service, and quirky surroundings. Had the weather been warmer then outside looked lovely. The cod goujon sandwich tasted good but could have been presented better, perhaps laying some rocket in the bread before adding the goujons. The pizza was very good. I had an Alfredo which was lovely, hot, crisp and tasty. The chicken strips were pure white, and there was plenty of fresh basil all over it. Recommended.

Lovely little gem of an eatery, friendly, chatty staff. Decent menu, food well cooked and presented, I had delicious mini fishcakes for starter and fish for main both beautifully presented and tasty. Slightly let down by Eton mess dessert, it didn't have the same attention to detail or flavour but overall excellent meal.

Dropped by unplanned after a dog walk and fancied a beer. A couple of craft ales were available of which the Bird of Prey was excellent. Plently of choice on the wine too. I went for the Tutbury hot pizza which was superb. Lots of topping, pipping hot and well served. Nice setting , well geared up staff and it was busy inside. Highly recommended.

This really is a truly lovely place. Food, service, atmosphere all fabulous. Couldn't have asked for more. Vegetarian quiche was to die for! You may ask then, why only four stars when everything was great. Having worked in hospitality, one of my biggest bug bears is when drinks are being poured/served and the glass is handled where I'm supposed to drink out of it. Fingers in glasses or around the rim is a big no no, but simply a training issue and easily fixed. We thoroughly enjoyed our family get together.

Happened on this by accident. What a lovely find. Friendly staff. Excellent Caesar salad. Quick service. Reasonable prices. What more could we ask for?. Thank you.

Amazing surprise 70th for my mum, start to finish was just amazing, great food, amazing staff and everyone had the best time. It’s such a lovely venue for a party. We had 55 people there and it was perfect. Everyone commented on the food and how lovely it was.

Lovely meal to celebrate birthdays, the food was really good - especially dessert, gutted I didn't go for the cheesecake but the stick toffee chocolate cake was very good. Also a nice craft beer selection including a paddle of 4 you could try. Cosy place, hidden away from the cold.

Very disappointed this time. The tea was weak even after waiting and stiring. The plate was swimming in water from my poached eggs and I had to sop it up with our serviettes. The sausages were a tad overcooked and the bacon was tough. Not worth the money this time.

Such a gorgeous restaurant inside and in the court yard too with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. They catered for gluten free and were very clued up, I let them know what time I was arriving for lunch and they warmed a separate oven and fryer up so I wouldn't need to wait longer for my meal, which was lovely too.

Party of 7, food was delicious served on time and the staff were great. Would recommend.

We needed a hot drink and an opportunity to catch up, this venue delivered, smartly too. Welcomed warmly at the door, we were seated straight away. Ordering drinks, the tea arrived quickly. Menus for food were available: we may look at these for next time. It struck as a good venue for a girlie lunch in warmer weather. Much seating in the attractive courtyard.

We've celebrated, as a family, for a few years now for my husband's birthday and have always enjoyed lovely food in an extremely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We booked for midday and the very first thing we were told on arrival was that the table was booked on for 2 pm. This didn't, realistically, allow adequate time to serve 12 people including children for 2, let alone 3 courses and I had not been told that when I booked the table, otherwise I would have decided it was not realistically possible. Drinks orders were taken a good 20 minutes after we sat down, and knowing they wanted to hurry us through service I do wonder why they didn't take the food orders first, so they could at least be getting on with cooking straightaway. However, the food orders were take quite a while afterwards and when it reached 1.30pm we had finished and were waiting for the table to be cleared. We weren't sure if we then had time for puddings, so one of us went and asked and was told we were able to. Once again ten minutes went by and the main meal plates had not even been cleared, so I then asked if they wanted us to vacate by 2 pm we would at least need to view the puddings menu. I was told quite abruptly that one of our party had already raised the query, to which I explained that I knew that, but if the next customers for our table were to arrive would we be hurried out? I was told that it we wouldn't - which was a bit puzzling as from the outset the time frame for our meal had been spelled out very clearly. We weren't even asked if we wanted coffee - however I don't think they really wanted us after that, despite paying a heavy bill. Such a shame and really disappointing. We will be booking elsewhere next year.

First time, it was fabulous, service, atmosphere, food, all brilliant. Very small but the ambiance is amazing, the place was buzzing.

Since being taken over the food here is disgusting. After leaving a plate full I was asked if it was ok and after telling them what was wrong with it all I got was a shocked look. No apology, no offer of anything else. Wouldn’t visit again.

There was a very festive atmosphere when we arrived and throughout the time we were there. We were welcomed and taken to our table. I had the halloumi burger and my husband had the fillet steak, and for dessert I had the chocolate sundae and...

We had our wedding reception here at the Courtyard in June, and it was the most amazing day. I can't thank the team enough for making it so special. Everyone loved the food and we all had a blast! They even set up all of my decor for me so I didn't have to stress about anything they really exceeded all of my expectations. Cocktails are fab here too! 😍

Treated very poorly by staff. Starters arrived 8.30pm and then told at 8.45pm that kitchen closed at 9pm. No time to have main course. No offer of being able to come another time, staff really didn't care.

Had a wonderful 3 course Champagne Breakfast this morning, sat in the sunshine with my son. A beautiful setting with fantastic food and good service. What more could you ask. Cannot wait to visit again.
