Nice food and coffee for a reasonable price.

Always a great place to get a coffee or quick lunch.

Had the Lebanese Flatbread with Chicken Skewers, I would challenge anyone to describe three chunks of chicken as skewers, it was all really tasty but I felt cheated by the description, even if it was changed to 'A chicken skewer' I'd still feel slightly taken for a ride.

We attend this coffee shop weekly. The general manager Ben is a fantastic host and is a true credit to the team. Bear is always clean and the staff make a friendly atmosphere.

My food was delicious although it looked a bit messy on the plate. My husband enjoyed his all day breakfast and the coffee was excellent. There is a choice of sitting areas There is a good choice of drinks. At the moment it is not open in the evenings

We stopped by the Bear today for a coffee and a brunch. The place looks amazing,we felt as in our hometown from Romania. Staff are very friendly and the food was delicious. We had a burger and some beef with eggs and a coffee,proper coffee ♥️ We are not from the area but we will definitely save the location and we will visit it again when we will be around. Thank you team Bear for this experience!🫶

The customer service and food here are amazing! Due to an honest misunderstanding a certain part of my meal was left off my plate (I have food intolerances and they thought the ingredients contained dairy when in fact they are vegan). The manager was wonderful, sorted the problem and went over and above to ensure we were happy. Could not recommend this place enough for food, service and dealing with food intolerances.

Been to this location many times and I'm always impressed with the service provided. Their Friday and Saturday menu is absolutely amazing and if you are ordering food don't forget the Frickles. They are so good.

It is said to be the best coffee in Uttoxeter, which is actually not bad. However, the service staff at cafes in the UK, both male and female, are basically polite. People like us from Hong Kong are frightened when going to restaurants. I'm very satisfied.

We prefer the area to the front of the cafe as there are big windows. Families seem to enjoy the tables at the back . Quick efficient service . Great coffees and cake. Relaxed vibe . Recently refurbished with a brighter cosier look .

Very relaxed atmosphere and great coffee. Gets busy at peak times. Food prices plus a limited menu mean it's not the best place to eat, although what they do is done well. Recommended if your just after a coffee though.

Disappointed- having regularly visited I’ve past years. They’ve lost their edge and sparkle for me - the House made granola was underwhelming with Rice Krispies predominant and very little else - overpriced for regular cereal, and cinnamon roll not fresh despite advice to the contrary. Poached eggs on toast was good as it used to be.

Really good food and always busy as a popular restaurant. More recently it seems they are short of staff during very busy periods and the last 3 visits have been advised the food would be at least 45 mins . I would however still recommend if you have never been as the food is lovely

Excellent relaxing place. Dog friendly and people friendly. The staff are so relaxed and welcoming. Oh yes, the food is wonderful too. I can't fault it. We will definitely be back.

As a regular customer I can wholeheartedly recommend Bear as a consistently excellent place for coffee, cakes and food. The staff are friendly and engaging and it sits quite comfortably above every other establishment in the area!

What a shame, used to be a great place for a business lunch. Staff very unattentive and rude when asking to clear away dirty cups that had been on the table over an hour. Preferring to stand talking. Also not offering further drinks at the table like they used to. With new coffee shops in the area wont be returning. Food excellent but service lets the place down, no service with a smile here!

We were too late to order food, but drinks and service were good and staff really helpful even though they couldn't feed us!!

Food is rather underwhelming, service was good. Very dirty, stained seating - not pleasant when dining out at all. No atmosphere.

Visited at 2:20pm today, ordered coffees… I then went to the toilet and came back, I saw my order on the side… we were the only people in there so I knew it was ours, I then proceeded to sit and wait a full 5 minutes whilst staff had a chat before bringing over our coffees which tasted bitter and barely warm. Although this was disappointing, when I was served initially, the staff member was very polite as bear staff always are. And the café was clean and welcoming, I just would have preferred to been given my drinks whilst hot and fresh.

I would normally sing the praises of Bear but a recent visit was very disappointing. Hygiene not up to scratch, a long ( 45 minutes) wait to receive food, and a flat atmosphere made this visit very poor. Add to this an unapproachable member of staff serving behind the bar who was not communicating with ANY customers ( middle age and colder than a block of ice) Bear used to be the place to be, with so much better choice in Uttoxeter it’s rapidly turning into the place to avoid if you want great customer service as well as good food.

Coffee here is really good! Lovely decor and places to sit if you want a quiet coffee to yourself, or if you come as a group. Lots of plugs too if you want to work here for a few hours. Staff are friendly and helpful!

What a little gem in Uttoxeter, excellent selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch. Coffee really is the best I’ve ever tasted and the staff are wonderful.

What a fantastic veggie breakfast! Normally I feel like I’m missing out because of no bacon but I really didn’t miss it today. Generous portion sizes. The delicious shakshuka pot was an added bonus. Excellent service and a clean, welcoming restaurant. What a treat!

Absolutely fantastic burgers. Best place to eat in Uttoxeter just a shame they only do this menu on Friday & Saturday. Can’t wait for next visit to work through the menu.

Great coffee, good food, but quite expensive.

I went to Bear last week to try the new menu, it seemed a bit overpriced compared to other local cafes. The food was good and was delivered quickly, however, an item we hadn't ordered (cup of green tea) arrived and as my friend and I had arrived and ordered separately didnt notice. Ten minutes later, after we'd eaten our meal, the server said they'd made an error and given us a tea by mistake and that we needed to pay for it! We tried to explain the situation, but to no avail. I've emailed Bear but have had no response. Surely they could've let it go, I felt like I'd been accused of shoplifting...and green tea of all things!

We were in Uttoxiter as it was the midway point between our homes and had to Google for a dog-friendly cafe It was a good find as we had a great brunch and tea in a proper teapot!

Bear just released their new Later Menu and it was awesome! We had smash burgers and cocktail, extremely good. Thanks to our waitress Sophie, who was such a rock star!

Poor . I asked for no tomato but still got them. The breakfast was so full of grease if I was to tip the oil off of my plate I could have run my van for about 4 miles on it.

A very stylish place, lovely staff, excellent coffee. It was very busy despite having competition from several other good, similar, places in town. Now updated decor etc. and prices! Place was half empty at lunchtime today when it used to be full. Food still very good, but too expensive. Coffee still lovely though.

Went for breakfast after the Bramshall Road Parkrun,had booked table for 4,The food was exceptional,2 had poached eggs,grandson had pancakes,I had bacon and egg brioche which was superb,best egg I have ever eaten,incredible golden yolk,coffee’s also excellent. May 27th

Disappointed as my food cost £18.90 for a latte and eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and extra halloumi 2 slices costing £4 the same price as two pork sausages in the extras menu

Unfortunately, I have have to knock some of stars off this review now. My recent visits to Bear have been somewhat disappointing, with food consistently arriving cold after being left out in the kitchen for protracted amounts of time, meaning I have had to ask for it to be sent back. This is obviously not acceptable. I don't know if this is a training, staffing, or organisational issue, but this has happened on both of my last two visits. While I appreciate that the food is freshly prepared, it is vitally important that it is then delivered to patrons in a timely manner.

First time visit and we really enjoyed it. Its not cheap but I do think you get the quality you pay for. Everything was very fresh and the portion sizes were decent enough. The 2 staff members that served us were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very nice. Would definitely visit again.

What an amazing little find. We were looking for a place for breakfast following an early morning appointment in Uttoxeter. We were really glad we stumbled on this gem. Staff were super friendly, welcoming and upbeat. Service was fast and the food and drinks were delicious! Would definitely recommend and visit again!

Food is high quality and oftentimes good however I do think it is overpriced for what you get in comparison to other local tea rooms and coffee shops. Maple bacon pancakes are awesome btw.

I booked my wife and I in for a Mothers Day bottomless brunch. The whole experience was amazing. The food was first class. Both my wife and I stated that this was the best full English breakfast we have ever had. We will definitely be back!

What a lovely little place, the eggs were perfect the coffee was out of this world and they even let dogs in. I couldn’t reccomend enough for a Sunday morning.

Lovely selection of pancakes. Great variety of flavours . I had the banana Nutella and pistashicio mix and my partner the oreo mix. Drinks were very nice . The sakted caramel latte and chai Latte with added maple syruo. Was very relaxing.

We booked a table for Friday night. We ordered 2 grazing platters and pizza. The grazing platters were very generous and we ended up taking most of the pizza home (takeaway box provided by the restaurant staff). Cocktails were delicious. Bear has a relaxed atmosphere and staff are friendly and provided excellent service. Would definitely recommend.

The Bear is great place to meet friends over a decent cup of coffee. I can highly recommend the breakfast service. Food is well cooked from a thoughtful and varied menu. The Uttoxeter location is one of three I've visited ( the other two are in Derby). Staff are friendly in all three locations, but the Derby, Irongate restaurant, perhaps, has the edge. The Bear is worth a visit wherever located.

I'm not sure why Bear is kinda "trendy" right now. It's a fairly spacious cafe, presumably with free Wi-Fi as I saw quite a few people with laptops, apparently using it as an office. The food prices are high and the service is slow, with very little enthusiasm or customer focus from the staff. The furnishings are bog-standard cafe style - not particularly special or high quality EXCEPT they do have a section with settees and easy chairs, which is nice. All in all it's OK, but that's all. And the food prices are too high for the kind of place it is.

Had a lovely lunch here recently and enjoyed a really tasty vegetarian dish and wonderful homemade lemonade. The service was good and the atmosphere was laid back and friendly. I would definitely recommend Bear as a great place for lunch as it was not only enjoyable but also catered well for families.

Very busy. Food was fine but portions small for the price. Staff were ok but nothing special. We had a 'table reserve ' sign on our table before our food arrived.. that's how busy it was. Customers were turning away as no tables available.

Been to the Bear cafe just for coffees but this time we had breakfast. It was very nice but quite expensive £11 each. The staff were more concerned about putting a reserved sign on our table than asking how our food was . I went to the toilet and no toilet paper in the toilets so I told staff. The toilets were clean. The coffee was delicious. Cakes looked nice . For a breakfast and a coffee each it cost £28. Would I go back to this Bear cafe . Maybe but other coffee shops in this area just as nice and cheaper.

Today we visited Uttoxeter just to have a late brunch at BEAR, and we were absolutely delighted that we did. We timed it just right as the one and only available table was being cleared as we arrived. This independent coffee shop deserves to be...

Went new years eve before going out to listen to music . Pizza and humour selection with Pitta breads and olives . All fresh and hot .

Had the bear breakfast. The sausages I can only describe as being solid!!! Having approached a staff member about it he simply said 'sorry about that!' The portion seriously small and in view for what you have and its poor quality, over priced

What a little gem this place is . We had a family catch up pre Christmas so chose the Bear as it was half way between our families. Having never been before I was a bit nervous that it would be suitable but I shouldn’t...

It’s a nice place. I would say not as nice as it’s earlier days in terms of atmosphere. The staff look over worked and in need of help. I do miss the old food menu with the likes of espresso waffles etc. I still go here and it’s nice 😀

Found this place early morning for a quick breakfast while visiting Uttoxeter for a business meeting. The food was delicious and the staff was very hospitable. Excellent food and service.

Still my favourite place for coffee and brunch! The service here is great and so is the atmosphere. You really feel like a valued customer and the fact that it's independent is just the icing on the cake. I take my laptop and get more work done here in an hour or two than I do in 4+ in the office 👍🏻
