The amount of oil in the fish batter turned my stomach, tried to soak it up with kitchen roll, fish fell apart, even my cat wouldn't eat it, thrown away, really disappointed

I have eaten at the restaurant before with no problems…this evening I ordered a takeaway but when I started to eat there was a bitter rancid taste …I could not eat it as it tasted awful…I think they need to change their oil…lost any future customer from me

Was suprised that I had one of the best roast dinners outside of home. Very reasonable price and generous portions. Will definitely return.

Ordered all day breakfast to give myself a treat as I was feeling a bit low. Meal arrived on time and was still quite hot. Unfortunately the food was swimming in grease and I had to decant it onto kitchen roll in an attempt to rid of the oil. Realised later that I should have taken photo of the pool of oil in the package. The eggs were over cooked and crispy and the bacon was very tough. If the meal had been better then a nice grilled tomato would have been the icing on the cake. Very disappointing when I needed something to cheer myself up!

Wow what a great little place. Feels like a part of the community. The menu is big with specials. The best chips I’ve had in ages. 10/10

Placed an order online but got no response. Tried phoning but no answer. Checked their website which confirmed they were open so went to the shop. Board at the end of the path also showing them as open. However, shop is closed until Thursday for a family funeral. Whereas I am sorry to hear that, why was I able to place an order, why was the website not updated to show they were closed and perhaps an answerphone as well. I trust my money will be refunded.

So we normally go here as the best fish and chips. Tonight the chips were dodgy and not even like proper chip shop chips the fish was mushy and didn’t even look cooked so basically all went in the bin

After a busy morning trawling through Trowbridge, I came upon this little place 🐟quite by accident but I'm glad I did as I was famished. It wasn't hard to decide what to have: plaice and chips, and it was delicious! The staff were all absolutely lovely, so friendly, helpful and polite. My experience with service went swimmingly. I recommend getting a bite here. (All fishing/fish puns in this review were fully intended! 😁)

Really lovely food. And nothing is too much trouble even when they are busy. 11 out of ten. Cannot fault. It was just a little late today. But they were. Very busy. So just a blip would still highly recommend.

Turned up an hour early - hubby not even home from work! I was told it was my fault & no time had been entered until I pointed the time out on the receipt. Not even an apology. Chips were really greasy & been through the fryer a few times.

Bad! The cod and the chips was packed in a paper foil, disgusting, full of oil no flavor all mushed . How as a take away shop you have so low stabdards and not evan puting the food in a cardboard box or something . Im dissapointed . Probably is monday and youre not bothered to do it proper. Last time order.

Today I went to codfather to try one of their roast dinners. I have heard good reviews about it locally. It lived up to its reputation. I had lamb. It was all delicious. I left nothing on the plate. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I would recommend trying their roast dinners. 100%

First time here in Trowbridge, best fish and chips I think I've ever had! Got chatting to the lovely lady whilst she was serving up our 2 large and 2 medium fish and chips, I starting coughing quite bad, and bless her opened up a bottle of water and gave it to me! Thank you for saving me! But the food, great portions, not greasy, just simply the best fish and chips I've ever had! The large is massive! My husband couldn't eat all his chips! Will deffo be back for more, recommend 100%

Fish and chip ship with tables so you can eat in. We had the special of fish and chips, with a side, bread and butter and tea. It was very nice.

This evening I ordered a large cod and chips, sausage and chips and 2 drinks. The fish was a very big size for the price, and tasted great. The customer service was excellent and the young man who served me performed excellent customer service. 5-stars all around in my point of view.

Arrived stone cold - soggy chips, stringy fish and horrible, undercooked batter. A really nasty meal which we simply could not enjoy - although my lady wife's burger was ok albeit cold. We feel absolutely cheated. Never, never again.

Went in for a cheeseburger and a small chips. The burger was standard takeaway fare, two frozen meat discs with no texture or flavour. The price on the menu board said £8, they charged me £10 because apparently the menu board is takeaway prices. I didn't see the dine-in prices listed anywhere, or even a mention that dine-in prices are higher. I hope that scam was worth losing a customer.

Came here yesterday with two Japanese colleagues who had never tried British fish and chips. The staff were so accommodating, chatty and friendly and really made the experience a memorable one. The food was freshly cooked, piping hot and super tasty! The waiting staff also walked me to the closest cash point as I wasn't familiar with the area which was a nice added touch. 10/10 will go back if in the area again. I was also shocked to hear that they had lots of other dishes available too, including a roast dinner!!

1st time I've ordered from the codfather, I've got to say I'm sorry but I won't be ordering again. Very disappointed Fish and fries. The fries were lukewarm and like they were reheated, the fish batter was soggy and the fish was disgusting. Childrens chicken burger and chips The chicken burger was rock hard .and the chips tasted like they were reheated some were rock hard in the middle🙄 We couldn't eat any of it . The cats ate the fish and the rest had to be thrown away.

First time ordered fish and chips from here. Wouldn’t recommend! The chips were covered in black tiny hard gritty bits and totally greasy , the oil needs replacing and the fish was dry and batter was thick solid and greasy and over cooked . So disappointed! Yuck! I’ll be sticking with jolly friars!

First time ordering from here, won't be the last. Food was clearly freshly cooked and was hot on arrival, batter crispy, fish tender, chips delicious and pea fritters like a dinner plate. Amazing, thank you.

Usually have haddock and chips , which are delicious, this time went for something different I had chicken curry which was really yummy , my partner had chicken pie and chips which he also enjoyed. Would definitely recommend.

I have marked this as a late delivery as i placed the order for home delivery at 2.50pm which i knew would not be a busy time for them, and it was a Monday. My order arrived at 3.51pm so can only assume they did not have an available delivery driver at an earlier time or were waiting for more than just one order to deliver on that journey. I thought this was very poor despite what the Just Eat predicted time stated which of course i only got to find out once I had paid! The food itself was Ok

I was working in Trowbridge yesterday and needed a quick bit to eat so I went for a medium portion of chips. I must say your chips are on a par with the best i have ever tasted, I don't know if it is the variety of potato or the oil you use but they were great, the cooking was perfect and the portion size was good. I will certainly be popping in again next time i am in town.

All the times that I have ordered from them they have always been earlier that was stated and the temperature of the food was boiling hot so was really great and the staff that delivered it are always polite and smiling
