Absolute Gem of a Freehouse pub. Made very welcome by the Landlord, Charlie and the family. Food only at the weekends. The quintessential village pub!

Went for Sunday lunch recently. Food was ok, service was good.

We visited on a Sunday and had the Sunday Roast and fish and chips. Actually the best Sunday Roast I have ever had - generous portion with tasty meat and vegetables seasoned to perfection! Their desserts - we had a brownie and a sticky toffee were absolutely exquisite - fluffy, not overly sweet and delicious!!! The staff are more than welcoming and nice! We love the place!

Let's be clear. I wasn't humiliated by the fact that you stop serving at 1:45 (although I find that slightly strange on a Saturday lunchtime). Humiliated that staff clearly took the order of a local who arrived at the same time as us and only at bar seconds before us because we were polite enough to let them go ahead. Staff then sent us away without a second glance, thought or explanation after our waiting a good while. Even the local lady who was served looked surprised at your treatment of us

We went for a Sunday roast and we could not fault it. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was beautiful - the beef was cooked to perfection and the pork was equally as good with the best crackling - delicious! All followed by the most gorgeous desserts - Warm chocolate brownie and ice cream and Sticky toffee pudding. All in all, the whole experience was excellent - we’re looking forward to going back again.

Fantastic pub/restaurant that is run by Charlie and Kate. A decent choice of beers and lovely food (Food weekends only.) The location is nice and peaceful with a large beer garden, including table tennis and plenty of parking surrounded by the countryside. Friendly bunch of locals.

Stopped here for some lunch after going to the Air Tattoo. Really friendly helpful staff and fast service. Food was delicious. And the best crème Brûlée I have ever tasted! And I’ve tasted more than a few!! Will definitely be looking to see if we can stay here next year!

Phoned Landlord prior to going as we were looking for an overnight stop in the Motorhome, left a message and he called us back very shortly. Stayed at a lovely little grassed area away from the main pub car park so was very quiet, had a meal and drinks in the pub that evening and it was superb. Charlie is a great Landlord and his staff were equally as charming and efficient, definitely won't be the last time we stay here...Thankyou

Stopped here after an 8 mile walk, and a refreshing drink was most welcome. The landlord was very friendly and there was plenty of seating available in the lovely sunny garden. Also lots of onsite parking spaces.

We enjoyed an excellent family meal to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary with our younger son, his girlfriend and their cavapoo Dunston. All of the main courses were delicious including 2 x scampi & chips, 1 x lamb shank and 1 x 3 tapas dishes consisting of chilli prawns, garlic mushrooms and honeyed sausages. The desserts were equally scrumptious including 3 x banoffee waffle and 1 x warm chocolate brownie. Highly recommend The Old Spotted Cow with delicious quality food in a really old world country pub setting.

Loved the reuse of an old keg as a water bowl for dogs

Beautiful location, I went there on a sunny day with friends for lunch but due to the increased demand on a day when they were hosting a classic car rally, the food service wasn't well rehearsed and people were waiting for half an hour or more on their feet and then still being given the wrong order. To be fair, they were highly apologetic and the food was good when received, though a bit steep in price for what it was and especially given the wait.

Driven past this place so many times..and finally stopped in. What a fantastic pub .friendliest and nicest staff , the quality and quantity of the food is just amazing for the price. Would wholeheartedly recommend , And there's a classic car show there soon too!!!

Beautiful typical country pub and thought we'd try it for a Sunday roast. We had pre-booked and when we arrived at 2.00 it was very busy. We were given a nice table in the main bar area. I always do wonder when a pub is as busy as this if it will impact on the quality of the food or how long we might have to wait for it!. I shouldn't have worried.. our Sunday roasts came out in perfectly good time.. I'd say about 20 to 30 mins from order and very delicious they were too. We paid our compliments and thanks to the Chef later for doing a great job. He told us they were one staff down in the kitchen. Given that I thought he was doing a fantastic job! Friendly, helpful staff, great food and prices. What more could anybody want! Well done the Old Spotted Cow.. we'll be back!

This is a lovely pub. We went on a Friday evening about 5 and it got very busy very quickly so there were quite a few people standing. This is obviously very popular with the locals who are very friendly. They were welcoming of children and the bar staff were lovely when my daughter knocked her drink over. A lot people had dogs so it is obviously a dog friendly pub. This is a lovely welcoming place and I would recommend.

Brilliant pub by RAF Fairford, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area doing a bit of spotting. Good range of drinks, as a cider drinker I good highly recommend the Mortimer's cider. I haven't eaten here except cheesy chips, but the service is great as were the chips. Not sure on the vegetarian and vegan side of things, but I'll update this review next time I eat here.

The barman in the braces is worth one.

Called in this evening without a booking, received a lovely friendly welcome and the staff helped to fit us in. Excellent food, high quality service, and good value. Dog friendly and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Visited Saturday lunchtime with my mother in law and husband. Had a lovely lunch. MIL had the beef burger, hubby ham eggs and chips and I had the the beef and Guinness pie. All thoroughly enjoyed. Lovely service. We will be back.

I have just moved into the village and this is a great pub and my new local. It's very friendly and welcoming, with delicious tapas food alongside pub favourites. After my third visit, the food is consistently good. Dog friendly.

We popped in Sunday to see if they could offer lunch for three (we hadn't booked). At first it was looking unlikely due to a large booking, so we bought a drink anyway as we had arrived, and within minutes of sitting were informed we could be squeezed in. The roast was fab, lots of variety in veg and the meat was too much (the dogs at home were pleased!) One had pudding (sticky toffee/sauce/iceceam which was a delight according to my dad!) Very friendly staff, lovely food and cosy little pub. Would definitely recommend.

To be fair it's been far too long since I managed to visit the Old Spotted Cow but managed to squeeze in a lovely booking for Sunday roast. ...and not disappointed. Will be back again soon.

After reading reviews on trip advisor I booked for a table for sunday lunch for my husband, 4 year old son, dog and I. We received a very warm welcome, didn't have to wait long for our delicious sunday dinner and were pleasantly surprised at the selection of veg with our dinner (very generous). After letting our waitress know I am intolerant to gluten, the chef kindly made a yorkshire pudding to suit my intolerance. Our dog was very happy to be given a biscuit and our son enjoyed playing badminton in the garden. We sat outside, the interior looked inviting and cosy. Everything you want from a great country pub. We visiting on a Saturday lunchtime. It was not too busy, which is a bit of a crime as it deserved to be as the food was excellent and good value. A party of four, we ordered a selection of starters (and a plate of chips!). This was our first post lockdown pub visit and it was great. Go now and enjoy a treat.

We are so glad we found this pub, as soon as we arrived and sat in the beautiful beer garden we had a lovely welcome from Sam who really looked after us.It was such a lovely quiet place to sit, they had a badminton set that we enjoyed playing with.My 2 children had some ice cream there and it was such lovely ice cream.We are looking forward to going back when we revisit the cotswolds at the end of August.

Just happened upon this little gem of a country pub on a drive out, and what a find it was! Beautiful location, beautiful pub, very tastefully decorated, and pretty, peaceful garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered fish and chips, and king prawn scampi and chips, and with both meals the batter was so light - made my mouth water!We will definitely go back next year when we are holidaying in the area again.Couldn't fault it.

We have just enjoyed a delicious fish and chop take away supper from the Old Spotted Cow. A generous portion of fish in beautiful crispy batter complete with peas chips and tartare sauce. Very good value. Charlie and Kate are doing all they can to adapt to current circumstances and certainly deserve the support of everyone.

We visited with two friends, on Tuesday, 10th March 2020, for lunch.We understand that The Old Spotted Cow is under new ownership. The new owners are, certainly doing a lot of things very well.I think that it is right to start with the staff. The two ladies who were running things were very charming and full of fun.The choice of drinks covered our requirements and I, particularly, enjoyed the St Austell Cornish Best bitter.The food menu is extensive and our choices were beautifully and freshly cooked.The Scotch Eggs are a delight, freshly fried with runny yolks.We will be back!!!

I took my family there after The old spotted cow was recommended to me. The food was lovely, plenty off it and well worth the money. Lovely country pub, open fire you could easily spend all day there.

Lovely last minute night away We had a king garden view, very nice size, comfy bed and nice shower. All you need. Lovely people and breakfast was included and wonderful. Really lovely stay we will be back, great value for money.

Went on spec for lunch and wasn’t disappointed. I understand that there are new owners and chef, I think, but this has not had a negative effect. The welcome was friendly and relaxed as was the atmosphere. Food tasted fresh and was good except the chips which tasted as if they had been bought from the supermarket rather than home made. Coffee in front of a lovely fire was very soporific. We shall return.

What a brilliant venue! We had our work Christmas gathering here and we just can’t praise it highly enough. Kate, Charlie and their team were wonderful. The food was superb- we opted for a French style Apero which worked brilliantly. The food just kept coming!! They catered really thoughtfully for our GF and vegetarian guests.

My family and I ate here a few weeks ago and the food was so good, atmosphere and staff really friendly. So much so we have been back twice since with friends.

So was googling a place for a meal, and this pub stood out, nice country pub, cotswold stone, lovely. Phoned up and booked a table with ease. A couple of weeks later i had decided to say for the night, so called and booked a room, as the booking.com site was playing up.

I used to be a regular at this pub thanks to joining a a company where the staff had established 'the cow' as the local, and that changed shortly after I started. I took my partner there once and it was very much a blatant local pub for local people in the evenings, then we steered clear for a few years after an extremely rude (I was told owner) and staff.

We had dinner here with our daughter and her boyfriend and it was a very pleasant experience. There are warm welcoming log fires and an excellent choice of food. This is a popular and busy restaurant so booking is advisable. Vegetarians are catered for and there is easy access for wheelchairs as all tables are on the ground floor. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return. Highly recommended.

Family meal on a rainy rainy night. We arrived at the very pretty pub and were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The menu was descriptive and had us all hungry from the off. We started with tapas, good price and a nice nibble, then the mains. The Cow Burger was something special indeed. Really good. The homemade ketchup and mayo too - great touch. For dessert, the Torta which added a pleasant sweet ending to our meal. Definitely would return and loved it.

Only one night here and wished it was longer. Really comfortable large first floor room. Very quiet, beautiful country outlook and great continental (by choice) breakfast. Wished we’d had the time for dinner here. Very friendly staff. Great location. If we’re ever in the region again, a must stay.

Had lunch here whilst in the area and so glad we found it. A very friendly welcome by bar and waiting staff and a newly lit fire on a chilly day made the surroundings even more welcoming. A good menu with plenty of choice. I chose the cauli burger with blue cheese dressing, served with rosemary and garlic chips, and was told I was the first customer to try it. Truly delicious choice!

We stayed for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday and it was wonderful. Lovely peaceful location and a great bedroom I 7. We only had one dinner on Friday night as we were at a wedding on Saturday but it was delicious. The tapas is as good as any we have had and a bottle of wine at a reasonable price. Breakfast was also brilliant. Cannot fault the staff or the facilities and would definitely stay there again.

I booked an overnight stay at the Old Spotted Cow.Nothing was too much trouble to make my stay a good one. My room was above the restaurant with a glass door overlooking an open field. The front window overlooked the pub carpark and a small field of lovely sheep!

Went to the pub one Saturday evening most sat outside so service inside a little slow to start but went well after we asked for menus. Surprised about the limited menu. Who goes out for an omelette these days. That said limited but good food

Met some friends for Sunday lunch at The Old Spotted Cow. The place had been recommended to us, and we were not disappointed.

Been twice now. This place is one of the best I’ve eaten at for Sunday lunch. I would recommend booking ahead as when we have been it gets fairly busy.

Getting onto small country roads leads to hidden gems like the Old Spotted Cow. What a special place this is and fortunate are the residents that can call this their local. This is a lovely old country pub and you are enveloped by an atmosphere of years of cozy wood fires. There is a large lawned area with picnic tables in good weather. The staff are friendly and efficient and pleasant to talk to. The menu tempted us from our planned day. I had the burger which was absolutely delicious, she had the risotto which was equally delicious. Good Old Boy bitter from West Berkshire Brewery went down all too well and it was a challenge to stop at 1. I can imagine the dinner reservations fill up quickly so some planning would be adviseable if you're going for dinner. A very cozy pub.

Lovely food, beautiful setting and very efficient staff! We were a group of 16 people, we pre-ordered our food which all came out at the same time, the staff were very organised, the table and room that we were in were all beautifully prepared! Would definitely recommend a visit.

The positives: good comfy bed. Soft and large fluffy towels. Glass bottled water and tea / coffee in room. Fresh milk will be provided too.

Stayed here for a couple of nights, wish it had been for longer! Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, though they were chilly in the morning as the heating was off. Great service and first class food, my wife was raving about the risotto. Great beer too!

A very nice welcome from front of house staff and excellent service throughout our lunchtime visit. Beautiful old building with pleasant atmosphere. Great menu with good variety of traditional and more unusual cuisine.

I’ve been coming since 2 years. Always got amazing food and incredible drinks. Feeling home and welcome each time. Sofa and fireplace are just stunning. Definitely the number 1 pub in the Cotswolds.
