I only moved to the area last year and I was recommended to to this lovely pub and its staff who served me with the best modules mariniere I have had outside France. So, imagine my disappointment when Spring arrived and modules disappeared from the summer menu may- although their pub staple of ham, egg and chips was high class. Last week I met with friends to try the 2024 winter menu. The ham, egg and chips were as good as ever and the cider battered haddock was enjoyed but the modules topped them both. Sweet shallots, garlic and white wine bathed the plump mussels set,off by a topping of parsley. The chef managed to get a wonderful depth of sweet flavour to the dish which came in both starter and main dish sizes.. The service was as friendly as ever and the beer is well kept. Thank you.

We found this pub by chance 9 years ago on a visit to Bath and returned here again in July, whilst on holiday, and stopped for a lunchtime drink in the garden, and then decided to return again in the evening for dinner. Very good food and service. I am a small eater and they were unable to provide smaller portions in the evening, so opted for a starter as a main, which was still very good.

We love the seven stars and have been many times. It is reliably good food with great service and a friendly atmosphere. We have been with our children, as a couple and as a large group so it does accommodate for many options! There's a nice garden area to sit in the sun. We'd highly recommend for takeaway also - the fish and chips is by far the best in the area!

I stopped in for lunch last week with my daughter, while we were out walking. It was my first visit to the Seven Stars and I was most impressed. It's a charming old village pub with a good sized outside seating area to the front. We received a warm and friendly welcome upon our arrival. I chose a pork belly dish from the 'specials' menu and I'm really pleased that I did. It was absolutely delicious. I will look forward to my next visit, hopefully sometime soon.

Just a tidy pub with a good ale choice. Five of us here for Sunday Lunch incl roast beef, roast lamb but both were disappointing, being a bit sinewy. Plenty of pleasant, young Sunday staff, but they were a bit disorganised. I felt more training & attention to detail would help. All-in-all a nice drinking pub, but Sunday Lunch needs an uplift for me to return.

Having just moved to the area, I was keen to explore the local dining experiences and The Seven Stars at Winsley was mentioned by everyone I spoke to. Like many roads in the area, they are narrow and lined by stone walls. There is a fair-sized car park alongside the beer garden which would be an attraction in the summer while there was a welcoming warmth as we entered the brightly-lit pub. Tables are arranged in such a way that most of them have a bit of privacy to them dogs are obviously very welcome.. Veggies, vegans and carnivores are all well-catered for by the various menus. - light bites, lunch, Sundays, kids, breakfasts and pizzas off a wide range of dishes. My son had high praise of the battered fish and chips while daughter-in-law enjoyed two starters but, for me, the standout dish was the lMoules mariniere brought in very plump and juicy from Brixham. The white wine liquor was beautifully sweet and I should have asked for a lump of bread to soak it up with instead if the skinny fries. The service was friendly and efficient with good beer on tap but the modules topped everything. I will be back.

The burger was very poor for the price it cost. There were no crispy onions or gherkins included as advertised, plus it's a cheek to charge an additional £1.80 for cheese, taking it to over £18. Plus, it arrived on a silly little piece of wood. My partner's pasta was also missing ingredients. The waitresses didn't seem to pay much attention and kept getting orders wrong. We just love the most delicious food at the Seven Stars. My son is 11 and absolutely loves going. We had a free day last Saturday and out of all the things he chose to do he chose go to this pub to eat. We had pigs in blanket as nibbles, and the Camembert with red onion jam which was just a fabulous combo. Then we enjoyed the Seven Stars burger, the scampi, gammon, and their gluten free fish and chips. A very happy family so full we couldn’t fit in any desserts on this occasion. Large group of 14 of us on a Saturday evening had great friendly and helpful service by all the staff from the manager, bar staff and waitress. Great service really does make the difference. The food was flavoursome and mouthwatering too. We had a range of starters, mains and desserts but personally I really enjoyed my moules mariniere to start - the garlic, white wine and cream sauce was delicious. Which there was the option of this for mains too as a bigger portion with chips - good to know for next time. I also loved my steak cooked just right for medium rare. My friends really enjoyed their meals too including the vegetarian lentil cottage pie, the fish and chips - commented on the delicious triple cooked chips and cooked to perfection batter. Desserts were all delicious too and finished the evening off perfectly. The pub was busy as expected for a Saturday evening, including happy drinkers at the bar too which is always great to see. Will definitely be returning with friends and family again, and would love to try out the Sunday lunch soon too which everyone talks about.

Regulary have Sunday roast here which is always brilliant. Popped in midweek, the the pub as cosy as ever and beer spot on, food less so. I had triple cooked chips and haddock, lots of batter small tastless piece of haddock. Triple cooked chips were greasy, unlike any triple cooked chips I've had before. Hubby had honey glazed wiltshire ham, which was very proccesed. All in all, not the meal I thought it would be i.e. I was hoping for hand cut ham on the bone and fresh haddock dipped in a light batter. Chips from potatoes and not from the freezer.Prehaps expecting to much, will stick to Sunday lunch in future.

I was walking with a group of about 10 friends last Saturday and called in afterwards for a drink. We were asked if we'd booked a table which we hadn't as we only wanted a drink. We were then told that we could have a table for one hour though we would like to have stayed longer and perhaps had a snack. This message was not given in a pleasant, friendly manner and we had the impression we were a nuisance rather than welcome customers. When we left there was no-one waiting for our table and plenty of spaces at other tables. Perhaps this pub doesn't want drinkers!

My first visit to this pub and it was nice, not amazing but very nice. Staff were fabulous and we were very well looked after. The ambiance was also ‘nice’ but we were seated near a busy walkway so it wasn’t very relaxing. Food could have been a little better. For starters I had the breaded prawns and chilli dipping sauce. To be honest it looked like it was 6 small Iceland frozen breaded prawns and for £7.50 I felt it poor value for money. My husband and son had the chorizo scotch eggs which they said were lovely but they were small and came cut in half rolling about on a large half empty oval plate with a tiny bit of greenery on one side. I had the nut roast for my roast lunch, I was promised the nut roast was excellent….it was just ok, a lot of veg/stuffing and very few nuts. The veggie selection that came with it however was superb and possibly the best roast potatoes ever 🌟 My son and husband had the ham egg and chips which they enjoyed. Desserts were ok. Two of us had the Eaton mess but it’s made with shop bought hard cooked meringue which isn’t as nice as a bit of good old gooey chewy meringue. It was really tasty if not my entire calories for the week. They did come up trumps though on my decaff tea as few places bother to offer this. Would I rush back, probably not but I would definitely recommend it for a nice meal and lovely service, which often is what makes a place great.

More style and price, than substance. Lovely setting, beautiful rambling walled garden with posh servers. But the restaurant food can be really bad! Bean dip (but called something much more lyrical, which I forget) was tasteless/ bland. Even I can just liquidise a tin of beans, and burn a carrot, but I season them properly and do expect much more for the prices. Much is made of local suppliers, and the meat dishes always seem to get better comments from my friends. The veggie food and deserts are expensive and not tasty, original or quality. If you are happy paying highly for meaty food, in a unique setting, then feel free. But I would avoid veggie and vegan (and probably the deserts).

We popped down to Quidhampton for the village fireworks hosted by the White Horse. Absolutely AMAZING evening; Fireworks were fabulous (probably 25 minutes of impressive show), DJ Dion kept the kids entertained at a great family friendly disco event in a marquee, there were sparklers for the kids and the bar and grill were a great addition. Queues were significant at times, but not surprising given the popularity of the event. Having been out of the country for a few years, this was our kids' first proper firework night and its going to take some beating. Thank you Quidhampton and the White Horse, we'll be back!

This is fairly local to us and we decided to have an early evening birthday dinner. Even at 6 on a Monday it was pleasantly busy creating a nice atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly and there was a good range of real ales on offer including 3 kegs of guest beers. Food choice was exceptional to the point of making it hard to decide which of several options to choose. When it arrived the food was extremely good and well presented. All in all a very good experience.

This place probably doesn’t need anymore good reviews but it certainly earned one. Ate here for a long lunch with friends who I hadn’t seen for years so there was a lot of talking and catching up. The place lends itself to that. It is comfortable, friendly, relaxed but the food and the service are absolutely excellent. The owner who was on duty yesterday ( forgive me for not catching your name) couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. He paced his service around pauses in our conversation and made us feel very welcome. He also caught on to the fact we were ex military and upon showing proof gave us a generous discount, which was very much appreciated. We stayed through the afternoon chatting away, and he kindly left us in peace . An absolutely lovely place, thanks for looking after us.

Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Wiltshire ham and eggs was top notch. Highly recommend!
