The Bell Inn - Bovingdon

The Green Man

Whittlesford, South Cambridgeshire, 20-30£
14/06/2019: Great fish finger sandwich and cheesy chips at the great pub. Friendly atmosphere and happy staff made it a super lunch
11/06/2019: We called in for an evening meal following an air show at Duxford.Although they were extremely busy, staff were delightful, very friendly and helpful. We had a slight wait for a table but it was well worth it. The meal we had was really lovely, chalk stream Hampshire trout beautifully cooked with an ample portion of vegetables and excellent presentation. There is a separate menu for those requiring gluten free. This is a very attractive, comfortable pub and would thoroughly recommend it. They have recently taken over another pub nearby called The Chequers which I am sure will be every bit as good as this one. Shall definitley go back when in the area again.

The Lowestoft Tandoori

Harbour, Waveney
17/06/2019: Best around lowestoft very good highly recommend service is grate and very reasonable prices very friendly atmosphere
17/06/2019: Was seriously over the moon at how nice the food was and the portion sizes. Staff were great and friendly and were just happy to have us there. An Indian restaurant with many types of food and alcohol, including a big tasty wine list.

The Star Inn

Walberswick and Wenhaston, Suffolk Coastal, <20£
07/06/2019: Good food, plus beer, friendly staff
05/06/2019: Family and friends decided to go ‘glamping’ at the near by campsite and this place was walking distance down the road. Great weather so decided to sit outside. Wasn’t expecting to much but as it turns out, the food was very good. If you are staying around the area, I would definitely give this place a try. Great pub food.

The Brisley Bell Bed & Breakfast

Taverner, Breckland, 20-30£
17/06/2019: had a lovely 3 course meal at the Brisley Bell. Good selection of drinks, food was lovely and plentiful and staff were all very attentive, they even washed and dried my son's personal crockery!
14/06/2019: Nice pub good selection of beers, good service, Decent size portions...... BUT the food is what its about it was just so yummy as every mouth full a pure joy to eat I LOVED IT.........

Morston Hall Restaurant

Glaven Valley, North Norfolk, 60-100£
16/06/2019: A great setting for a lovely lunch. The seasonal menu was delicious. We felt very well looked after as always.
11/06/2019: This is a lovely place to stay and to eat. Our welcome was friendly and helpful and this was maintained by all the staff - nothing seemed too much trouble. We stayed in one of the garden suites - a light, comfortable, spacious area with everything you need and immaculately clean and maintained. Dinner was wonderful - we just love the style of food and are amazed that that such detail and care is continued with a menu which changes daily. We also chose the paired wines. The sommelier was lovely - very informative and obviously someone who takes a lot of pride and pleasure in her work. This was a special occasion so we treated ourselves to their picnic lunch - the most outstanding packed lunch I've ever had! The whole experience made a wonderful start to our holiday.

Galloway's Restaurant

Aspley and Woburn, Central Bedfordshire
03/06/2019: Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Great wine. Chicken pakora amazing. Fillet steak perfectly cooked. Can’t wait to visit again.
27/05/2019: Dinner was truly delicious. The service was excellent. The staff were so friendly. I would definitely recommend this lovely restaurant in Woburn

St Helena

Elstow, Bedford, 45-60£
15/06/2019: I live very close to St Helena's but try not to go more than a handful of times per year to retain that unique & feeling.
08/06/2019: We go to St Helena several times each year. Recently the team in the kitchen have given us meals from which we cannot remove points. This last visit four three course meals. Not one bad. Very happy to keep going back. A real pleasure.

Roger Hickman's restaurant

Mancroft, Norwich, 60-100£
18/06/2019: I seldom rate 5-stars because there’s usually some little thing which could be improved but in the case of this restaurant both food and service were faultless. My wife and I had one of the best dining experience in the past five years here and certainly the best since we returned to UK
17/06/2019: We had spent just under a week travelling in Norfolk, tried several other restaurants around the county ,most of which were very good .However the evening spent at RH was a delight, the service exemplary, the maitre d' is a character but knowledgeable and helpful. The food was outstanding, from the exquisite canapes, to main course of Turbot, and enveloped by a rabbit first course, and wonderful desserts. This place accentuates the difference between the very good and the truly excellent, and we had truly excellent food and service of a very very high order. The atmosphere is welcoming, professional but right on the button! The food seriously good, almost worth a drive from London just to eat there. Norwich is indeed a Fine City , and has a lively food scene these days, RH is a fine restaurant and a wonderful experience.Just go!

Windmill Motor Inn Restaurant

Broomfield and The Walthams, Chelmsford, <20£
10/06/2019: We loved everything about The Windmill. It is run by a very professional couple who have developed the pub/restaurant into one of the best places around here.
08/06/2019: This was my first visit to a local restaurant, and now I wonder why I waited so long to visit. The menu, although not large, gave options to all four of us that were enjoying the evening together. Between us we had the smoked salmon and omelette Arnold Bennet for our starters-all excellent. For the main course we had sea bream, lamb and fillet of beef. Again all was of a high standard but if I had to make a small criticism the asparagus served with the sea bream was a little too al dente. Desserts were good but I would have like a lighter option without cream or chocolate. Will be back to try more of the menu.

Mrs Salisburys Famous Tea Rooms

Maldon North, Maldon
13/06/2019: What can I say about Mrs saliburys Famous Tea rooms that hasnt already been said about the wheel, penicillin, or the IPhone... This is one of the greates tea rooms of all husband and I would argue constantly over who got to choose where to go for food. its one of those desisions no-one wants to make! you know the old "I spent the entire day rearing OUR children, maybe you could pitch in a little and choose where to go." and of course "You think i have the energy to make that kind of decision? I worked a 12 hour shift to do this!". These are the things that can destroy a realationship. It got to the point where out children could feel the tension. The minuet I heard out 6 year old doughter, in her bedroom re-enacting our weekly cafe argument with her barbie dolls, I knew we had to make a change. Thats when I discoverd Mrs Salisburys Famous Tea Rooms. Our marriage has never been healthier. AND we've even taken to discussing it during our sex life. Thank you Mrs Saliburys Famous Tea Rooms!
07/06/2019: Food was fab, and great portion size The cheese ploughman’s with added ham was amazing as was the coffee milkshake, staff were polite and knowledgable, building warm and cosy well worthy of a 5 star feedback

Pamela's Restaurant

Nelson, Great Yarmouth, 30-45£
16/06/2019: My son brought me here for my Birthday treat & wow the food, service & restaurant is amazing! A hidden gem, We thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening being waited on hand & foot! Can't fault it! Will be back!
15/06/2019: Simply amazing, the best place I have eaten since living in the area. It is unique, quirky and the service is second to none.

Wells Crab House Cafe

Priory, North Norfolk, <20£
17/06/2019: Delicious food, good coffee and excellent service what a treat in Wells next the sea followed by a train journey to the beach. A good walk back to blow away the cobwebs.
12/06/2019: Food here is very average with a menu and specials board that is far too big. Would be better off reducing both menus and focusing on the delivery of those dishes. Many dishes lacked inspiration and seasoning. Although the service was very friendly it was clearly understaffed when we went, and didn't feel like one particular person was taking care of us for the night. Seemed to take an age once we were sat to come and take drinks orders and then another long wait for food order. Perhaps the bookings needed to be staggered better?

The Golden Pheasant

Northborough, Peterborough
16/06/2019: Myself and my husband wanted to go for lunch somewhere to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Having spent a large proportion of his life in the hospitality trade, my husband knows what works and doesn’t. When it comes to the Golden Pheasant we were not disappointed. The hosts were amenable and welcoming, the food was delicious (especially with the husband’s strange obsession with dauphinois potatoes!)
14/06/2019: Visited with family as a late decision for a home cooked pub food. On arrival we were greeted warmly by the patron and his partner. Went straight to our table where after drinks were served we were given plenty of time to make our minds up. I opted for the pate to start and my daughter opted for pigeon breasts. When they came the pate was lovely and accompanied by a home made onion chutney. For mains I had the steak pie with mash and vegetables. This was wonderful with the pie full of meat and fully flavoured. Vegetables comprised of carrots, spring cabbage cauliflower and broccoli. My wife opted for a vegetarian tart that she thoroughly enjoyed. My mother in law had the fish which was very nice as it came as a large fillet ( I helped her eat it). The chips were the large fat ones which were home made. I had the seasonal fruit crumble with ice cream. This was packed with fruit and a nice big portion. Just wish custard was an option for this. My wife and mother in law shared a chocolate dish of some kind and enjoyed it. Yes you have to wait a little between courses but its freshly prepared and I don't mind that. Will definitely be returning. Our hosts were very friendly and happy to talk making this a place a good atmosphere. the venue also hosts weddings and other functions in a recently purchased large marquee in the grounds
