If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. I have booked a table several times for family events and every time have been cancelled within hours of attending due to "flooding". The most recent time my table was booked for 7.30pm and at 6pm was contacted to cancel my booking. The reason given was that the kitchen was flooded and unusable. We dined elsewhere and drove past the Pig on the one-way system to return home. This was around 9.30pm. The restaurant was full with people enjoying their dinner. I sat outside in the car and phoned the restaurant to enquire why the restaurant was open with a flooded kitchen. The person who answered the phone alleged that the people in the restaurant were finishing their desert and that they had not been open to receive customers. I do not believe that diners served before 6pm (when I was told the kitchen was closed) sat in the restaurant for approx 4 hours eating their main course and were still eating after 9.30pm. No apology was forthcoming or an attempt to re-book me. I believe they over booked or one of their regulars needed a table and they bumped my reservation. Note this has happened to me several times. I would not recommend this restaurant as it is obviously being run by a bunch of amateurs.

We had 2 pizzas and salads to take away, and I can say we thoroughly enjoyed it all. I don't understand some of the previous reviews as they don't match our experience. The pizzas were a good 12" in diameter and were well loaded. The staff were welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, they had no issues with the request of a few changes to the pizza toppings (dietary requirements, non allergy related). Our salad, seved in a 10" square foil takeaway container, was very varied and as fresh as I could have made at home, not at all as described in another review. I had a pint while I waited (Timothy Taylor, landlord) it was fresh and well kept. If our experience is the norm, it is easy to understand why the pub was busy (a Tuesday evening) with a constant flow of drinkers, diners and takeaways being ordered. We would recommend this place and will definitely return when we visit the area again

My wife and I would like to express our appreciation for the outstanding service we received from all the staff at the Nailers Arms on Friday 21st February 2025. We decided to have some food and drink at the nailers between our intimate wedding ceremony and our evening party. When we booked the restaurant for 22 people including children member of staff who took our booking showed us different areas of the restaurant that they could section of so our guests would all be seated in one area. We picked a area and booked the carvery. The member of staff said we was welcome to come with either the evening before or the morning of the booking to put up some decorations etc. One the day of our booking we all arrived at the nailers and our tables had been reserved in the location we had chosen. We all ordered some drinks and sat down to have a drink before food. It was at this point the nailers staff started to put glasses of prosecco on the table for the adults (even providing non alcoholic for the drivers). My wife I was shocked and didn’t realise who had purchased it until the manager and the staff stood by our table all with glasses of prosecco and the manager tapped the side of his glass and said “myself and all the staff at the nailers wish you both a happy future together “ he then said the drink is a gift my us to you. We were absolutely shocked that they had gone out their way to help us celebrate our special day. After having a drink we went up to get our meal. I have to say I have never had a carvery like this before. It was absolutely amazing, the meat was all cooked so nicely you could tell who ever cooked it did so well pride. There was a number of different potatoes from new potatoes to roast potatoes. There was a large selection of vegetables and they were all absolutely delicious. Unlike most carvery who give you one or two stuffing balls which are normally hard and dry and over cooked having been under hot lights for ages the nailers had a massive pot of stuffing that you could have as much as you licked and it was just lovely cooked and not hard and over cooked. We went to the carvery at about two pm so this was during service and not at the start of service. Normally you go to a carvery at the start to make sure it’s hot and just cooked. This isn’t necessary at the nailers as even hours after the start of service the food was fresh, hot and all choices still available and lovely. We stayed at the nailers for about three hours continuing to have drinks and chatting with family and friends. At no point did we feel like we needed to leave after our food or move into the bar as we had eaten. We just stayed where we were drinking and chatting. Thank you all staff at the nailers for making our time at the nailers wonderful. We will be back soon for another lovely carvery.

The staff were very welcoming from the off - and warm and friendly throughout, it is dog-friendly and the place was smart enough. The booths were a bit much - I get the privacy vibe they’re going for but they just look a lot cheaper than those in a genuine vintage pub. The drinks were fine - a recommended special from the first waitress went down well with a daughter. I guess the food just summed up what a lot of restaurants are like now. Over-priced and leave you feeling it just wasn’t worth it. Four mains, four desserts, 7 drinks, probably does cost £150 nowadays. The mussels were £22 for 19 of them - 3 of which were not open - with 2 slices of sourdough and a bit of crème sauce (see photo). The burger came with minimal garnish, and the bacon on it was AWOL. The scampi in a basket was a retro style, but was just a little dated really. So nice staff, probably not over-priced I guess, but we left a bit ‘mehhhh’ and were reminded so many places you eat out at nowadays just aren’t worth it.

Independent business locally owned but able to offer great sized portions, freshly cooked to order food, at reasonable prices compared to some local chain competitors who believe they can charge extortionate prices such as £17 for cod and chips to take away! Of course tomorrow’s fish is still in the sea…. Without mentioning names. The food here to take away, or eat in will not disappoint you, or leave you £100 out of pocket. Looking forward to our next visit.

Came here for the first time for pre-Xmas drinks with partner and family after seeing reviews online. I’ve lived locally for 29 years and never stepped foot in here but glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, fire lit, nice drinks and wonderful food. Even better that they offer gluten free food. Came back a few times for lunch with both my MIL and my partner and kids-enjoyed it every time.

I recently visited with a group of friends and found everything from the service, to the food, atmosphere and range of options outstanding. I had the vegan steak which was insanely good. The cocktails were lovely, I had a Rhubarb Martini and Esresso Martini, both looked and tasted amazing. Will definitely be returning x

Puedo recomendar.
