The Selsey Arms in Horsham

The wife & I visited at lunchtime today & were warmly greeted by the pub dog, Piper 🐕, and the kind lady behind the bar who insisted on us to choose any seat we like. The other customers had their dogs with them and the overall pub vibe was friendly and accommodating with a big nod to the RAF (you can't miss the photographs of Spitfires and other war memorabilia dotted around). The food was on point and the service was fast & attentive. The ham & cheddar croquettes followed by scampi and a beef ragu pie were all an absolute treat. Fresh, full of flavour and as delicious as any other pub we've been in: 💯 recommend.

If you’re thinking of a place to eat, this is the pub for you! The new menu is fantastic!! I had the Homemade Spiced Harissa Lamb Burger… was the best burger I have ever eaten. All the flavours complimented each other. Hats off to the chef!!! I look forward to coming to the Selsey Arms again to try another dish on the menu 🫶🏼

Stopped here with my brother on a recent trip back to the UK. Super friendly staff, great selection at the bar and while we didn't eat, we watched several dishes on their way to their tables and they looked incredibly delish!

The place was very welcoming and warm plus the meals were fabulous. But most of all the staff went out of their way to help me when I suffered an asthma attack during lunch. I would like to say thank you to all of them , especially Abby who calmed me down when I was panicking and gasping for breath. Lovely place. Only had dinner here, but it was a delicious meal and lovely service. Would definitely visit again. Beautifully decorated and a lovely atmosphere - lots of local history and war memorabilia as the decorations.

We had my mother-in-law wake here, the staff were lovely and the food was very nice, thank you to all the staff.

Just had a Sunday roast, and it was the best roast dinner we have had in years. Great portions, all really tasty. The vegetarian option was different and very good. Friendly staff and pub dog. Will definitely go again. They squeezed us in today, but it's obviously popular, so probably best to book.

A lovely bar and restaurant, plenty of seating inside and out, a good variety of beers and wines, staff very friendly and helpful, plenty of parking, Food very good, but generally you need too book if you want a Sunday roast. Well worth a visit if passing through, or you need a rest break

Great pub to visit as it on the cross roads of coolham. The staff are friendly and helpful.the beer garden is a good size and parking is good also. The food is ok but but is chargeable in the week but you need to tell them how you want your meat cook as it sometime not cook right.

If you are ever passing, it's well worth stopping for the food. Simply put, I wasn't expecting the quality and amazing flavours of the food. Highly recommended.

Went here as there was a custom bike show on.Had not been here before but will return,good variety of real ales,the ones I had were well kept, Reasonably priced food,the burgers were massive and well cooked

Wow What a great place inside and out, with fantastic food. Staff are friendly, service is spectacular. Cannot fault anything, can’t wait to go back and sample more of the menu………such a great relaxing place to eat and drink……..A little gem in the heart of Sussex countryside.

A great Sunday lunch, meeting up with our family and grandchildren. We were treated wonderfully by the friendly and helpful staff, despite being extra busy with a large party.

I have only visited a couple of times so far with my son, and soon to be holding a wake there, for my wife who recently passed away. So far I have been bowled over with the friendliness of Ken the owner and all of the staff. The food we (my son and I) had was so amazing, can't wait to try more of their vegan options. Hats off to the chief, Vicky, she has some amazing talent.

By far the best food locally had a beautiful Tomahawk steak every meal we have had was amazing

We popped here for lunch. We had the baked Camembert with toasted sourdough and a side of fries. The Camembert was well seasoned and served. It was baked to perfection. The fries were ok although the mayonnaise was anaemia without much flavour.

We took my mum here for mother's Day lunch. What a brilliant pub. Staff all really friendly (including the beautiful pub dog, Piper!). Food was amazing and very fairly priced. Nice clientele. Interesting ties to RAF Coolham with lots of RAF memorabilia in the pub. If you like traditional, down to earth, British pubs then you can't really do any better.

Great little pub with lovely food and hospitality, and an interesting RAF theme courtesy of the old WW2 landing field next door. Sunday roast on Mother's Day was a hit with all.

Omg . . I’ve passed this pub so many times . It wasn’t until a neighbour said what a great Sunday lunch she’d had . , we thought we’d try it. Midweek. It was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back . ❤️❤️❤️

We visited today for lunch. The way the pub have become “COVID compliant” is a testament to the proprietors. We had a small problem and gave some feedback, which was positively taken and resolved in good faith. The food I ate was delicious (Venison Casserole). It’s so important to support local hospitality venues and we will definitely be back.

A friend and I had lunch at the pub today - what a special little place. We sat by the cosy fire and had coffee, followed by a delicious lunch, beautifully served. The staff were so kind, nothing was too much trouble. A real gem of a pub. We will return!

We stopped there this morning mid-journey at 11.30 to use toilets and have a coffee and were offered a choice of either breakfast or an early lunch. We chose to have lunch from their very interesting menu and enjoyed a splendid meal before continuing on our way. The decor is dedicated to the airmen and the 15 pilots who died flying out of Coolham in the Battle of Britain. A propellor, uniforms, and squadron insignia lined the walls. Altogether a very enjoyable stop and meal and we will re-visit next time we are in the area.

Proper Pub - not many of them left. Went with an open mind and was delighted what I found. Typifies the fact that pubs are the very fabric of our community, with a diverse clientele. Decent beer choice, wines from local merchant and food homemade from ingredients sourced from local suppliers. In a world where so many pubs try to be something they aren’t, these guys lean on what a traditional British pub should be...and nail it. Looking forward to my next visit.

A very nice meal to celebrate my 6th birthday with my mum and auntie. The pub was very good on social distancing. The service was very good and the food was delicious. The mussels for a starter were delicious followed by guinea fowl which was delicious too.

Fantastic roast beef - best pub roast ive had in a long time .Despite covid , the pub still had a lovely atmosphere staff very engaging ,a warm welcome , great service - will definitely go again !!!

Had an Al-Fresco lunch here today which was absolutely delicious. A varied daily menu board which today included fresh, dressed Crab. Belinda & Ken have certainly put their mark on this place and with their friendly, helpful staff, you will not be disappointed. Thumbs up to The Selsey Arms.

We went for lunch and it was fantastic. I had the pork belly and it was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. Staff were warm and friendly and I will definitely be back.

Popped in on our way to Winchester and were pleasantly surprised; interesting menu, friendly quick service. My husband had ox cheek on red cabbage, tender and delicious, I had fish cakes, very good. Harvey’s on tap, clean loos. Very nice.

Went yesterday for a friends surprise birthday lunch, fantastic staff, super food that was perfectly cooked. There were 12 of us so lots of different orders, everyone said how good it was. The fish & triple cooked chips were lush!

Visited here today to welcome home my mother from her trip to Australia. 8 of us had the roasts. chicken lamb and beef which were all super. lovely country pub and welcoming staff. will definitely be back.

I'm a regular in The Selsey Arms and this is my first time in the restaurant since the new Chef came in December. We had a fabulous set of meals to celebrate my 48th Birthday. I had a Steak, my wife had the Halloumi Burger, my son Burger and Chips, my elder daughter Fish and Chips and my younger daughter Spaghetti Carbonara. Everyone showed a clean plate at the end and when I asked for marks out of ten, everyone said 10! Kenny and Belinda have done a fabulous job building up The Selsey Arms in the last 21 months and there is a really lovely winter vibe there at the moment. Thanks guys!

This is the second year running i met with my family ie sisters, brothers in-law, nephew his wife ,his children and my wife, and once again it has been a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. The food and the service as was the general atmosphere .We will definitely be going back next year

The Selsey really has notched up several pegs since Kenny and Binni took over a few years ago now. An excellent array of gins, always a superb pint on tap and welcoming atmosphere.Dinners are also great and the Sunday roast is worth popping in for.If you're passing by and wonder whether to stop, I'd definitely say park up and get a quick one in :-)

We have been to the Selsey a few times since its change of ownership couple of years ago, twice in the last couple of weeks. The guys there are great - very friendly and helpful, and their new lunch offer is excellent value at £13.95 for 2 courses. The food is excellent and has improved hugely since the new chef started a few months ago. We will be back soon

We had Sunday lunch here. I thought the roast was a bit over priced for the size of the portions, but it was very tasty. I could not have the Yorkshire pudding due to a cows' milk allergy, but I was given extra roast potatoes to make up for this. The staff were friendly & the pub had a good atmosphere.

We came for Sunday lunch today with family and my 2 year old who has a severe peanut allergy, we spoke to the owner on the phone and said about the allergy and she was very positive about it. When we arrived they had cleaned over and above where we were eating and made sure we were put at ease about the food preparations.

Have stayed here a couple of times. We have friends in the village and stay here when we visit. Always pleasant and helpful. The rooms are quaint but clean and comfortable.

Being on the A272, I used to drive past this pub without stopping off on a regular basis. Then, one day, we decided to pop in. Kenny and Belinda are friendly and attentive landlords, the bar staff are smashing and the food, although mostly standard pub favourites (with some lovely specials) is well cooked and nicely presented. The decor is comfy without being pretentious. There is a front garden with tables and benches and a rather nice river side dining area at the rear. In the winter time, there is a glowing log burner which adds to the ambience without adding smoke and smuts to the atmosphere. There is a wealth of information and photographs about the activities of the local World War Two D-day Advanced Landing Ground inside.

popped in here for late roast one weekend and for drinks with friends a few weekends later. reasonably priced. lovely to sit outside the front or back by the stream, staff are cheerful and inviting and piper is beautiful. burgers look good, roast was good and a good size children's portion

We ended up at the Selsey Arms after not being able to get into another restaurant. It was really enjoyable. I loved the fact that there is a lot of memories focused on the RAF, very emotional for me as my granddad, and my father were both members of the RAF, my grandad being in India when Prince Albert, and Queen Victoria visited. I have some wonderful tokens from that era. Also the food was amazing, and the staff were very engaging although young. A very pleasant experience all round. Will definitely go there again.

Desperately looking for food on our way home from Cowdray Park, thankfully this was the first place that we eventually found. Friendly welcome, despite how busy they were. Although just offering pub grub, the quality and quantity of both our meals was perfect. Loved the RAF memorabilia, especially that related to Polish aircrew. Can only fault the place on not being able to offer a decent decaff coffee, to finish things off. Will be recommending to a couple of special friends, and we will be back too. Thank you Sam.

This is a great little pub. Great food, nice (maybe a little bit clipped/frosty) hosts. Nice lunch but some of the clientele is just too bolshy, loud and fowl mouthed. Been twice now and tried sitting in the garden area but it’s too much for young ears. If they got a grip of that then we would come back. Not great for a family at this point. Couples ok if you don’t mind it a bit rough. Given it an average as the food was great.

Country pub under recent ownership change. Friendly front of house staff and the Landlady and Landlord fully hands on.Recommend the rack of lamb.....beautiful. Good choice of drinks...Work in progress to improve garden (decking etc) Lots of WW11 PHOTOS ETC AND A MEMORIAL TO THE r.a.f. and Polish Airmen on the boundary. Motor cyclists and dogs welcome....We will be returning.

Rather a tired-looking whitewashed pub not far from Billingshurst. Hopefully, the externals get tidied up when spring appears.

I attended this pub for a wedding in August, there first one. I then attended the grooms wake here, 6 months later, again there first one. The owners and staff were so caring and thoughtful, and carried out both events with style, class and careful thought. What a fabulous place to be. They are amazing people, so friendly. The food is stunning and the garden and patio over looking the fields is a little piece of English Magic. I wish I lived closer, it would be my local. Well worth a visit

Kenny & Belinda always so welcoming, great atmosphere and a really welcoming pub. A real gem in West Sussex and well worth a visit...even for a recommendation for a g&t; to try!

Just a bowl of soup as a Sunday snack lunch. Tasted home made. Nice warm bread. Very friendly service. Will return for a proper meal some time for full judgment.

On the A272, the longest lane in Europe, and not in Horsham at all but Coolham (wake up as to the geography TA) this is not a prepossessing place. So much so that I have driven straight past it for years. Error. Big error.

We went here (7 of us) for a late Sunday lunch, wow, the staff were all amazing including the chef! Food was lovely, the roasts were perfect and portions very generous cannot wait to visit again! Keep up the good work!

I met a friend for lunch , it’s lovely inside big fires for winter & lots of RAF memorabilia. Had homemade soup & superior scampi beautifully served on wooden platters. Excellent polite service. I am quite local so will return. Ooo & they do lots of different Gins as well.

Revisited this pub very early evening. I asked for a blush, barman did not know what I meant. Had to explain a Rose wine.

We were at the wedding celebrations yesterday and we had an amazing time. The drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are wonderful. The food was really tasty and in abundance. We will so be going back to see Belinda and Kenny very soon. The pub dog, Piper is a sweetheart. Thank you so much for making our friends wedding celebrations so very special.

The Selsey arms hosted our celebrations for us. We had a marquee in their beautiful newly landscaped back garden. The decking overlooking the creek is lovely. Ben the chef created an amazing feast for us and all our guests. The new landlords here have transformed this pub. In 6 months they have given this pub a new lease of life and a vibrant life at that! They are so welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. And the accomadation is excellent too.

We had a lovely meal for four. Very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely lunch and desserts. Also bikers welcome which makes a great change. You can't miss it if your on the A272. It's actually in Coolham. And some interesting D-Day RAF history.

After having passed the pub many times over many years without visiting, I saw it had changed hands a while ago, so 4 of us decided to go for lunch today.

We were in the area and saw this little pub, after a couple of drinks we looked at the menu and saw on the special board Gammon Steaks, which are one of my favourites, so I ordered our meal, when they arrived which all the trimmings with to die for chips, well I’ve never had a Gammon steak like it before, fantastic.

Popped for the first time ever on route to Brighton. We received a lovely greeting and promptly ordered our food - a risotto and lasagne off the specials board. The lasagne was likely one of the best I have ever had from a pub - delicious! We see it is under new management and they are clearly investing in the property. The ladies loo was super clean too

We were actually looking for food but they weren't doing food on that particular day. The staff member was very helpful, we stopped for a beer which was well priced and well kept.

The new owners are a real breath of fresh air. The pub had previously felt a bit toooo 'local'. Belinda and Kenny are so lovely and make it clear that anyone is welcome at The Selsey Arms. The food is so different - fresh, tasty and worth waiting for (not that you wait for long), we will definitely be going back. I cant recommend this pub enough, and if you're like me, and you're someone who 'used to go in there' - go back! You'll love it!

We were seven friends that had dinner here last Friday. When we walked in, the bar area was full of chatty guests and we got a warm welcome from the landlady. There was a lot to choose from on the menu. The service was friendly and we didnt have to wait long for our food which was delicious. The landlady and her family are great and it will be a pleasure to come back. And whatever you do - please hang on to that chef!

We visited the Selsey Arms on Sunday as we heard it had new owners.

It's under new management as the banner says. Popped in to see what's changed. Well they've taken down the glass rack over the bar (tick). Not management's fault, but the beer selection is still dire. Very busy, presumably with friends & family, so let's see how it looks in 3 weeks time. Better pubs available IMHO.

Popped along today for the Sunday roast. New owners third day here and they did a cracking job. Food was excellent. Beer was kept extremely well. Great value for Monday and a warm and friendly welcome from the entire staff who were clearly under pressure due to how busy it was and yet remained calm and professional throughout.

Visited the pub last night for their 2nd night of opening....lovely welcome from the new landlady and her staff. Small but very well laid out restaurant with a great atmosphere! Food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Met the chef who is obviously passionate & wants to please his customers.

Popped in on a Sunday and had the best Sunday roast. Landlord Rob was very friendly and made us feel very welcome and made special lunch for the children that wasn't on the menu. Can highly recommend this pub.Although sadly I believe it is changing management. New owners has got a great challenge to keep up the great reputation.

we decided to eat here on a sunday and had not booked the friendly staff fitted us in and took our drinks order straight away after a couple of minutes they took our food order we chose the roast lamb, we didn't have too long to wait it arrived and then the vegetables were brought out, big plate full of meat and roast potato and parsnip it was hot and tasty and for just under £10 great value for money would certainly go back

This is very old worldy, feels like nothing has changed in a couple of centuries. Made to feel welcome. Cosy by the wood stove fire. There is small restaurant which was fully booked when we went so they fitted us into the small bar for sunday lunch. Good food and good range of food and good value. The roast lamb and beef were slightly pink as they should be. Staff obliged us with extra gravy. Plenty to eat. Good car park. Easy to find on the Coolham crossroads.

Last minute decision to pop in to this little pub, we were enticed by the Sunday roast for £10. It was very busy but we were fitted in by the pleasant friendly staff. I had roast pork, partner beef (Pheasant was also on offer) , everything was perfect and tasty. The menu looked great - was tempted by dessert but was full up after generous roast portions! Had a peak at the wider menu it looked fab, will have to come back another time, almost don't want to recommend as they may have trouble fitting us in next time :-)

Pub was cold on a cold day. No fire was lit. The table was dirty and the decor is poor. You can still smell smoke from when smoking was allowed. The pub needs a good wash and painting job. On this rating could not stay and eat
