Fantastic food and fantastic service, especially from Karis and Liv and the tremendous bar staff Ross and Titch and Chloe, I travel 52 miles every week to get the perfect Sunday Dinner and also on weekdays and in 6 years never disappointed, This is really a restaurant serving rel ale not a pub that does food, that’s an injustice, Real ale and proper home cooked food ( stew to die for) best pub or should I say restaurant within 100 miles. Popped in to the Black Horse while looking at a property for sale in Sheepy Magna. Lovely local pub and very friendly locals too. Will definitely check the food out on our next visit. We are looking to move to a village with a great pub…. We might have found it.

Never been here before but just passing so pulling in on the off chance. We didn’t eat but got the best welcome from the bar staff and a few of the locals. The owners were away so apparently a little under staffed but you couldn’t tell. The food coming out the kitchen looked really good. We will definitely be back! Who ever the owners are. Your staff are awesome 👏👏

The landlord and landlady are really on the ball. Not just there for the regulats like some.

Absolutely fantastic place, we travel from Shrewsbury here regularly always a warm welcome great food and drink cannot fault anything. Super comfortable atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. X

Popped in after a long dog walk and unfortunately were too late to enjoy the full lunch menu. However, the staff went above and beyond to make us a hot cob despite the kitchen being closed. Lovely traditional pub with a roaring log fire and friendly service.

Called in on the off chance of a meal - we received a very warm welcome, great beer and wine and fantastic home cooked food. It made a pleasant change to speak to the landlord of the establishment. Will definitely be returning. Cannot recommend highly enough.... a little local gem.

9 of us ate here. The whole experience was delightful from the word go. We were shown to our table straight away and drink orders were taken. After a few drinks our food which we had pre-ordered was served. The food was excellent as was the service. A very friendly and well organised pub all round. Thoroughly recommend it.

Fantastic lunch. I had the home made beef stew which was superb. The staff were extremely helpful, and obviously enjoying their service. It became obvious that this atmosphere is generated by the fantastic hosts Dean and Paul. What a lovely country pub.

We come here regularly for a Sunday roast and the best in the area! Deans cauliflower cheese is amazing and always gives you more! Most places you have to pay additional for cauliflower cheese! Only thing in my opinion that would make the roast even more spectacular is roast parsnips! We absolutely love the atmosphere, the friendly staff and food is brilliant. 6 of us went here last night as a family. We called them first to book a table, earlier that day, and Dean was very accommodating. It’s a good job we booked, as it was busy. The pub was comfortable, and warm, and also very welcoming. The menu was so extensive that I wanted at least 5 of the items, but when I saw them serve the “JW burger” to bother customer, I just had to have that. It was very different, and so tasty. Another of our party had the same as me, one had pie of the day, which was minced beef and onion, one had steak, one had gammon and one had hunters chicken. All 6 of us thought the food was LOVELY. Portions were very generous, and very good value for money. I’m sorry I didn’t get the name of our waitress but she was really nice, super attentive and apologised for the wait, even though it wasn’t that long anyway. Unfortunately we are not local, we were visiting the area but if ever we are in the area again, we will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a lovely meal, in a great British country pub. I would absolutely recommend.

6 of us went for dinner, all diners thoroughly enjoyed their meal and fantastic value for money.

After a day's diving at Stoney Cove, we had to find somewhere to eat for 8 of us. (our hotel had let us down. So me and Craig dropped by at 6pm and asked about availability for 8. The lovely lady who met us was struggling to accommodate us, BUT, bent over backwards (figuratively) moving tables around and seated us at 8pm. We REALLY appreciated that. Most of us had the chef-recommended rump steaks which were gorgeously tasty. We had great service, great banter and great food in this lovely pub. All the staff were friendly, especially the lady (I wish I knew your name - sorry!) who accommodated us, brought our drinks, took our photo, etc. Thank-you!

Sunday roast amazing, good quality meat and veg. My only criticism would be to make your own Yorkshire puddings rather than shop bought and would be epic! Gravy was something special. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

Went to this location for a party. A great room for a small function. Car park at rear. Bar staff helpful. Beer tasted good.

Booked a Sunday lunch for family arrived to a lovely pint of Pedigree. Sat at our table which was in the window lovely place to sit. We had the roast beef and treated ourselves to pudding. Beef was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be going back there.

Great. British village pub called it on Wednesday took up the offer of 10 pound for 3 courses. Absolute excellent value for money. Couldn't fault the food would definitely calling again highly recommended.

Warning.occassionally its only fair to warn people in advance. Don't go here expecting a pub that does food.you Will be very disappointed.you will be going to pub that supplies meals that are higher than pub fare, that have superb helpful knowledgable staff. Who supply locally sourced produce meat vegetables etc who can tell you where it comes from . Their menu is diverse and covers possibly all tastes with staff on hand to help with any ideas or fine tuning required . It's a pleasant environment very relaxed and spaced out superbly allowing room around the tables for a perfect visit

Had another perfect visit to The Black Horse today for Sunday lunch. Our party of 4 had mouthwatering food (the BEST roast potatoes ever, thanks Dean 😋) in this wonderful village pub. The staff, service and atmosphere just make it THE place to visit. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Dean just cracks me up and takes the time to have a laugh and joke with you which just adds to the whole experience 😊 Looking forward to seeing you all again soon, take care and keep doing what you do!

Does not matter how many times we go to the Black Horse it never fails to impress.The food is always cooked to perfection and the staff are all very efficient and friendly.The chicken Fajitas were probably the best I have had.Husbands gammon cooked to perfection-well done to the owners Paul and Dean and all their staff

A group of us went to Black Horse yesterday for our Christmas lunch. The pub has great atmosphere, helped by the host Dean. We all had an amazing lunch, with a great vegetarian option and the steaks were cooked to perfection.

We’ve been away with friends for the weekend and dropped into the Black Horse as we were passing. Straight away we were warmly welcomed by the regulars and made to feel at ease by the friendly atmosphere. Some great beers and the food was lovely and home cooked. Dean the head chef and front of house is an absolute star, he and his team know exactly what running a pub is all about. He went the extra mile to get us back to the car at the end of our visit due to the river opposite bursting its banks. If you’re in the area we would highly recommend popping in for a drink but be prepared to stay a while.

Lovely local pub atmosphere but with the added benefit of delicious, home cooked food. Tonight’s special was exceptional. Pan fried Salmon with tempura prawns, Parmesan crisp, grilled asparagus and delicious sauce. Hubbies home made beef pie was delicious too. Not often you find a local pub with such great food. Totally worth a visit.

Me and my wife popped in for lunch and had a lovely presented meal. The food was served in good time and very tasty. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return.

Stopped off here on the way home from Twycross Zoo just on the off chance they might serve food. Staff were helpful and friendly and the homemade lamb kebab was absolutely magnificent!

Have visited tonight for the first time. What an absolute delight, from the warm welcome as soon as you walk through the door, the lovely waitress who served our table, the delicious meal and the delicious bread and butter pudding 🥰. We have had a lovely evening here and would highly recommend to anyone. Will definitely be back. Thank you to everyone at the Black Horse and to the owner/chef for taking the time to come to our table to make sure everything was okay and generally chat. Would have given more gold stars if I could.

Been here today absolutely lovely little gem of a find ...Ross was lovely as was the lady who served us but didn't get her name food was spot on I had steak pie and Karl had the ribs both just melted in your mouth ...so good in fact have booked for Sunday lunch ...also a big thankyou to the chef and the owner think he was called Dean ...probably one of the friendliest pubs I've ever been in ... Love it

Great pub. The Sunday Roast is to die for (especially the cauliflower cheese!); the staff are friendly and incredibly helpful; and the atmosphere is lovely.

Visited here for lunch. Staff were all pleasant and friendly. We ordered a few burgers to try. I went for the The JW (James Wilson) burger, which is a 6oz Burger served between two Warm Naan Bread, topped with Grilled Bacon, Mature Cheddar & Salad, served with Chips & Slaw. It cost £11.75 which was a bargain for what you got. The burger in naan was certainly different, but tasted great and worked really well together and let me full.

Called for lunch requested mash with cod instead of chips waitress pulled face meal took thirty mins to arrive fish cold.and served with greasy chips. Special,,, well that’s our last trip there, shame as bar staff very obliging and a lovely little pub..noticed regulars having basket meals. Should have taken clue from that. Second time we have called first time every thing was excellent but it was a different waitress who was young and obliging and food was good then only a month ago..perhaps it was just a bad day but we won’t go again.

Proper English country village pub with open fires. Celebrated with family on a busy Sunday night in a warm, welcoming atmosphere full of locals and travellers like us. Staff were friendly, polite and brought our meals quickly and considerately despite the late hour. Owners couldn't do enough for us. If you're looking for top quality food, well kept beers and a real selection at the bar in an immaculate establishment looked after by people that love their craft, we couldn't recommend the Black Horse more highly. What a lovely find this delightful, quaint traditional country pub in the heart of the wonderful Warwickshire countryside. We booked a table for 8 at 7:00 and several of us were delayed but it was not a problem to the very accommodating waitress who served us. We all had simple but tasty starters, mains with several off menu requests and again it was not a problem. With several drinks each we shared several deserts and with a tip the bill was less than £25 per head. We shall return…

This is a lovely country pub serving excellent food. The staff are warm and friendly and the pub has a wonderful ambience. Well worth a visit.

Not the experience expected. There is a bar and a lounge. Lounge was incredibly business and incredibly noisy, bearing in mind the pub was also serving food based on a restaurant experience. Food was lovely but the environment was NOT! Maybe there needs to be a rethink of logistics because this does not work. The whole experience was incredibly stressful.

Having moved to the area just over 2 months ago we were keen to find a nice local pub that served good food & beer with a warm welcoming atmosphere. This place ticked all the boxes. Looking forward to many more evenings enjoying the hospitality of the landlords and their staff. Highly recommend especially with their great home cooked food.

Had a beautiful meal-Likely the best Cabonara I have ever had.Husband had Spaghetti Bolognese and he said that was Superb! High praise from him.He also said the Banks bitter was perfection.Staff are all friendly and organised and the place is spotlessly clean
