Great food and portion size for your money, probably the curry sauce I've ever had. Nice staff and beautiful views across Scarborough bay.

Lovely place to eat. Fabulous waitress Sienna was very professional and polite, lovely young lady. I would highly recommend this place. The food was delicious 😋.

Very friendly staff. They could not do enough for us. Food was also excellent. We had the platter for 2, which was excellent value for money. Food was all freshly cooked with generous portion sizes.

Great food, really fresh fish and lovely staff. The chef clearly takes a lot of pride in what goes out of the kitchen, and also came round the tables to check on people which was really lovely. We had a dog with us and they couldn't have been more accommodating, asking if he wanted a sausage, providing water etc all without asking. Thank you!

Lovely clean restaurant and fresh fish and chips in a friendly atmosphere. Fish was delicately battered and the home cut chips were a lovely addition.

Went with good expectations after reading reviews but left very dissapointed, chips overdone and slightly burnt and haddock bland and tastless, never again.

Advertise that they do gluten free but turns out they pick and choose if they can be bothered to serve it. Young girl serving didnt seem bothered at all and was turning her nose up bit dissapointed id get it if it was off peak times but it was sunday and it was rammed

Catch 55 is a little gem in Scarborough we went on off chance for lunch staff were very friendly and efficient the eating area was immaculate I choose the fishcake with chips and it didn’t disappoint it was delicious I can say the best I’ve had ,hubby had the pie with chips sides of peas and curry and he enjoyed it too a nice touch was when the owner/chef came and asked if the food was ok would recommend a visit we certainly will be back

We visited on a Monday evening with our little dog who was made most welcome. We hoped to get a sea view seat but with only 3 tables by the window they were all taken. No worries - we were seated nearby. The seats are very hard and we found the table a little high for 2 people of 5’5 with little short legs. My partner went to the car and fetched a cushion which helped. It wasn’t that busy but the service was a little slower than we had hoped. One of us had a small cod and chips with a side of mushy peas and gravy - the other a small haddock and chips and a can of coke. The chips were a little dry and very brown- not what we are used to in a chip shop/chip shop restaurant. The fish was bright and white in a lovely light crispy batter. Not greasy at all and was a delight. The mushy peas were as they should be , the gravy a little bland - must be a commercial one like Maggi that they use. The bill came in at £35, which was a little steep with a can of coke at £2.50. Would we go back? Only if our favourite place was closed.

Had an excellent meal at Catch 55. The trio of fish cakes were great as were my husband’s haddock and chips. Friendly staff and a beautiful view.

We visited on Tuesday afternoon for lunch and the service was very friendly and polite, food was quick but not too quick so you know it’s fresh. It was clean and has lovely views of the seafront. Fish and chips tasted great with the gravy! Will definitely be back when we visit Scarborough again.

Busy and popular, nice fish and chips. A little pricey and to cap it all asked for ketchup and vinegar, got 4 sachets of ketchup but no vinegar for these prices expect vinegar and ketchup in bottles on the table.

Really good chippy ! Ordered the kids fish bites and they loved it. Fish was meaty ( if you get my meaning ) and delicious. Really friendly service and a great price.

Fantastic fish and chips. Spotless inside and great that it's dog friendly. Our dog was given a sausage on arrival which I thought was really sweet and a nice touch. Young lady that served us was brilliant! Very friendly and had a lovely sense of humour. Good price for the amount of food we had. Everyone that came in the staff did their upmost to accommodate their needs. Our new favourite chippy in Scarborough, will definitely return.

Popped upto Scarborough for the day with our Boston Terrier Connie, decided fish and chips for lunch and saw Catch 55 allowed dogs. Much to our surprise they offered a sausage for Connie which she loved and managed to cadge some chips from us. Food was fabulous, cooked fresh to order, staff very attentive and couldn’t have been more polite. Connie seemed to enjoy the experience as all to often we have had to take away so was brilliant she could join us. Thankyou to you all for making us so welcome and we will be back and spread the recommend Catch 55.

Great fish and chips for take-away. Fish was super fresh and wasn’t overly greasy. Also great for people who are Coeliac as gluten-free fish and chips were enjoyed by my mother with no issues.

Whilst visiting Scarborough with my grandson he requested fnchips for lunch , stumbled upon catch 55 and glad l did , l ordered regular haddock n chips n curry sauce n jumbo haddock n chips n scraps, the shop was emaculatly clean and the lady serving was so polite and even the fryer had a word about the jumbo haddock being to big for the box n he was right lol the tastes n presentation of the food were second to none , il certainly be calling again if I'm over at Scarborough again, my grandson was mighty impressed also 😀 thank you catch 55

Quite simply the best fish and chips with the best curry sauce and superb tataatare sauce that I have ever eaten in a fish establishment. The view was excellent, the atmosphere calm and friendly. The staff were excellent too.

Went to the takeaway asking if they cook in vegy oil was told no and asked why, well daughters a vegy and wanted some chips for her as well as some f&c for me and the son not a problem was the reply we'll put the vegy oil cooker on but it'll be a little while longer 😁 so we all got to eat and was all very tasty 😊 Had a nice chat with the staff while I waited cannot comment on the restaurant, but if it was as good as the takeaway, you'd be more than happy!

Definitely a good catch! From start to finish, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We had a table overlooking the sea, friendly faultless service and excellent haddock and chips with 'Irish' curry sauce and homemade tartar sauce as well. It was the best fish and chips we have ever had!

Absolutely perfect fish & chips. Nicest battered fish I had. You can really tell the difference that they use cod loin. The friendliest staff with a warm welcome. The restaurant has a great seaview & is really clean & comfortable. This will be our go-to for fish & chips in the future x

Having tried virtually all the fish and chip restaurants in Scarborough over a lot of years. We have visited the Catch 55 on two occasions, once in November and again today. It is a spotlessly clean, top quality restaurant. Large, airy premises with sea views. The staff and owners are very pleasant and friendly. Top quality food cooked to absolute perfection. This is now our go to restaurant every time we visit Scarborough.

Ate here yesterday, a lovely welcome on entering, all facilities were beautifully clean. We were accommodated on a table for 7 over looking the beach. Service was impeccable but the food was even better! All fish was beautiful, cooked to perfection with the most Beautiful crispy batter. Every side was delicious, the curry, the mushy peas - so flavoursome but the tartare sauce was the best we have ever had. The prawn cocktail was delicious and packed with tasty prawns. Nothing at all could be faulted. Highly recommend for all ages, we will be back.

Very friendly welcome to this spacious restaurant. There are seats by the window overlooking the beach and bay but we were very happy where we were seated as we still had an excellent view. Excellent fish and chips - highly recommended. All four of us would definitely return.

What a great find,it was a midweek lunchtime visit,very friendly staff showed us to a table overlooking the bay,the food was brilliant and great value,definitely worth another visit.

The food here was fresh and delicious. I had, unquestionably, the best fishcake I have ever tasted. The chips were hot and freshly cooked. The waiting staff are attentive and friendly. The chef responsible for the meal is rightly proud of the simple and wholesome food he prepares. If you're in Scarborough, give Catch 55 a try.

Was able to take my dog into the restaurant, as we were turned away from other establishments. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even the chef came out to see us.the food was excellent, would definitely recommend this place, and will be returning.

Been on a couple of occasions now, normally disappointed 2nd time around. But can honestly say was very very good 👏👏👏.

The first impression of Catch 55 was that it was immaculate and then we were impressed by the efficency of the staff along with their caring approach. The Haddock and Chips were delicious. Our dogs had a sausage each. Yep, it's dog-friendly too. This was a delightful experience and we will definitely return.

absolutely amazing our 1st visit to catch 55 and we have been coming to scarborough for years i must say oh wow I ordered the jumbo fish n chips with curry sauce my wife went for the pensioners special home-made fish cake Chips and peas tea for two the best fish and chips I've had in years that includes whitby Bridlington filey the staff and owner a Doncaster lad were fantastic we will definitely be back soon as they are open all year round.

A wonderful place from the lovely lady who greeted us then waited on our table to the most fantastic food. Even our dog was given a free cooked sausage and water. Don't hesitate to go here it's the best!

Probably the best fish and chips I've ever had and I'm 78 so I've eaten a lot! Excellent service and spotlessly clean place. Well worth a stroll up the hill from the harbour and if you're lucky enough to get a window seat you're rewarded with a great sea view. 5*****.

First fish and chips after almost 3 years living in Germany! Fantastic food! A storm was battening the streets - roof tiles everywhere- so we ate in at the restaurant. Food was fantastic: fresh cut chips, large fish with beautifully crispy batter. The portions were large; good local beer too! Generous sides (went for the holy trinity of peas, gravy and curry) Staff were friendly and service was fast. Will definitely go back - hopefully a lot sooner than another 3 years!

Ordered around 18:30 on Just Eat, it stated 8pm was shut off, thought perfect plenty of time, I spent around £35 way too pricey, but wanted to try it out and I expected it to be good, I don’t mind paying for good food. All this just for it to be cancelled at 7pm on the dot :/ what a waste of my time and effort, ended up ordering else were, shame really as we wanted to try this place but this has been a major put off.

Can't comment on the food but visited and the staff were very rude and inconsiderate left without eating, avoid if you have special dietary requirements, these will not be interested in helping

Delicious food. I enjoyed the line caught haddock with crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside chips. Mixed platter was equally as delicious. The service is second to none. Food arrives piping hot and well presented. A good choice of hot drinks, soft drinks, wines and beers available. We enjoyed seating with a lovely seaview. Another bonus is their warm dog friendly policy. Great place to enjoy time with family and friends.

Excellent fish and chip restaurant. Food cooked to perfection a little bit pricey but worth it. The waitress who served us very attentive and friendly.

I must say that this chip shop has impeccable staff who treat customers with a great amount of respect. I have used my locals discount card for a 10% discount a couple of times. On this occasion I asked for Halloumi fries because I'm dieting and they had only two left and they were kind enough to let me have them as a gift so I could sample them. The fries tasted amazing and I will be back for more in the future. I will spread the word and tell people. Another point I'd like to add is that you are not stingy with the chips. My previous order was huge and would say was excellent value for money.

We dropped in for food hoping there would be room for 10 of us without booking and we were not disappointed. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff here. Very attentive and helpful. The food was beautiful! Some of the best fish and chips we've ever had! The chef coming to check on us was a lovely touch. Highly recommend!

If you are going to publish that you are open until 9pm then you should be open until 9pm. Turned up at 8.30pm and it was closed. Not good.

WOW!! What a find this place is. Stumbled upon it by chance. Such nice and friendly staff to greet us, we were seated by the window overlooking bay. Menu was very extensive and we chose the large haddock, it was more huge than large I wish I had had the smaller portion. Chips were nice and chunky and not fatty. Fish was nice and batter was lovely. Chef came out to ask if all was good. The place was immaculate and clean. Toilets were very very clean. Would recommend and definitely be back. Thank you all for a fabulous experience.

Delicious lunch today, perfectly cooked, crisp and fresh. We ordered haddock and plaice, both tasty. Staff friendly and keen to help. Toilets clean. First time visiting here and when we are back in Scarborough we won’t hesitate to come back again

We made a very big takeaway order of 15 fish and chips. And it was brilliant. The food was hot, tasty and good portion sizes. The staff were also fantastically helpful. The gravy, curry and tartrate sauces were very good.

Actually still sat in the restaurant and have thoroughly enjoyed our family meal, very friendly, clean and would highly recommend. Will certainly visit again and become a traditional visit when coming to Scarborough.

Came to Scarborough for the first time, wanted to sit on the beach and eat fish & chips. Headed straight here after reading reviews and wasn't disappointed. Fish cooked fresh in front of us. Best fish and chips I've had.

I can honestly say these were the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The homemade fishcake was fantastic and the haddock was the best I've ever had. The smaller posrtions are a really great size. And the lady behind the counter is amazingly Friendly! The best customer service I've had in years! She's lovely! Didn't catch her name but she told me she used to run a cafe! Honestly don't miss this place it's fantastic

We were warmly greeted, the cafe was spotlessly clean and we were given a table with fabulous views. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and were really on the ball re gluten free food. My gluten free haddock & chips was the best I’ve had, as was my partners normal haddock & chips . We’re going back for more before the end of our holiday!

Went yesterday (15//9/24). Had cod and chips. The portions were huge! Cooked to perfection, beautiful fish and light crispy batter. The staff were really friendly and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend and we will be back again soon!

What an experience ! No wonder it's highly rated on Trip - I can't think why people put 3*or less over minor things ? Ordered the platter for two ,omg, it's enormous - there's not portion control here !! The chef even comes out to ask if all is OK and you're happy ! Can't fault the service or the food in any way, shape, or form . If I lived closer, it would be a monthly visit, but sadly, a 41/2hr drive each way says no. But we visit twice a year - and I will be back ! Hope I convinced you to have a try ,you won't be disappointed!!

We were a party of 32 on a Sunday evening after celebrating my daughter’s wedding and we couldn’t have been treated any better on our visit here. All of the food was served hot and delicious with generous portions and tasty homemade tartare sauce. The service was excellent and the newly weds were made to feel very special. I would highly recommend to anyone who loves good food (especially fish and chips) Can’t wait to come again. Thank you 🙂

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere

decided on here after reading reviews and they do gluten free but unfortunately I won't be returning. the young lady that served us was very blunt and not polite, food had been kept warm for too long and the wait for gluten free was an hour.

Absolutely perfect pure white cod, all our meals were lovely, we was made very welcome not like winking willy's on seafront bad attitude, all friendly staff here nothing was too much trouble, place looked clean and tidy too thank you we hope you are open when we visit again from 27th Dec to 30th Dec xxx

Visited here as it advertised gluten free fish option and was not disappointed!, very friendly staff fish and chips and fish and mash was gorgeous!! The wife had gluten free fish in batter, with salad and gluten free gravy, shes allergic to a host of things but had no problems at all after eating her meal, will definitely return.

Found the reviews on Tripadvisor and decided to see for ourselves. Kindly welcome at the door. The place wasn’t busy, but was noticeably very clean and tidy (even the loo was clean…how nice!). The food was delicious, the cod done to perfection. Of course we had curry sauce and mushy peas too! Unfortunately the senior option we opted for (hoping for a smaller platter) still exceeded our abilities… Lovely place, good service and good food. What more do you want when in Yorkshire?

Went along based on recommendations. Wasn’t disappointed. The service was excellent as was the head of house. The head chef came and greeted us and ensured our food was up to standard. It was. I had the fish pie special which was creamy and delicious. Full of fish in eat bite. The chips were cooked to perfection. My wife had the cod. She is an experienced fish frier herself so knows the trade. Her fish was very fresh, meaty and cooked to perfection. The batter was just right. Golden and crispy. Cannot speak highly enough of Martin and his team and the product they serve. To cap it off. We felt it was priced just right and not over the top. We shall return next time we visit Scarbados.

Some of the best gluten free chips etc that we've had. Nice and crispy and good amount. Seemed very knowledgeable too....
