We were staying at Primrose Valley and decided to pop out for Sunday dinner, luckily for us we stumbled upon the Ship. We were instantly made the 3 of us very welcome. The service and food were both great! We will definitely be back next time we are on holiday nearby :)

Great pub and atmosphere. Good choice of beers and other alcoholic drinks. Staff were all really helpful and polite. The food was outstanding. Very simple pub food menu. The food was well cooked and very tasty. The giant Yorkshire Pudding with mince and chips and vegetables was absolutely delicious and big enough for Desperate Dan to eat. My Companion had the gammon which obviously came from a very large pig. Well worth calling in for food if you are in the area.

We booked for dinner, was welcomed when we walked thru the door. Seated at our table drinks fetched over. We had a starter and a main meal. Goodness me the portion size was very good, so good we couldn't finish our main meal. The quality was great. We were asked if we had had enough, as they didn't want us to leave hungry, that was never going to happen. A great little pub, with lots of interesting things to look at inside.

Had we only stopped for a drink, then I'd be looking at 4 or 5 stars. The welcome and atmosphere were great. Good selection of beer. Staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the food was very disappointing. Which is a shame, as reviews suggest food is good. Maybe we visited on a bad kitchen day. The creamy mushroom starter with baguette: stale bread roll instead of baguette. And the starter could very well be the base sauce for the beef stroganoff. The beef was very tough. The best thing to eat was the frozen chips. Would recommend the pub but not the stroganoff.

After reading great reviews on the food and the fact we had our dog who was welcomed and fussed. What a gem of a pub. Home cooked food which was the one of the best meals I have had eating out. We were made very welcome and our host managed to get us a table even though they were booked up. If you enjoy tradition home cooked food in a traditional old style pub you've got to give The Ship a try 😉 👍

What a lovely surprise this was. Read previous reviews. Good food, great landlord etc. Never expected what I found when we walked in. A proper traditional old fashioned country pub. Very impressive collection of history on the walls, Proper food like Granny makes. Braised steak in a giant Yorkshire for example. Landlord couldn’t have done enough, lovely bloke, even got words out my kids which never happens. Beautiful traditional food, was very accommodating for my autistic daughter. I don’t tip people often to be honest but on this occasion i did. If I lived local I’d never be away. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, hidden gem. 💎

A great find that was close to the Haven site we stayed at. We called to make a booking in advance and requested a dog friendly table. A warm welcome and a proper home cooked Sunday lunch, the Yorkshire puddings were amazing! Had a choice of turkey, pork or beef. Roast and new potatoes. Vegetables were carrots and savoy cabbage. Extra gravy was offered as well. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had to have puddings - sticky toffee for me and salted caramel for my husband. Less than £40 including two drinks. We will definitely return during our trip. The eclectic decor is a sight to see as well!

Stumbled upon this lovely pub on a Sunday afternoon jaunt to Filey. Sign outside said Sunday Lunch and we decided to see if there was a free table. What a fantastic decision. Lovely, warm welcome from the owner. They squeezed us in to the bar area, as the rest of the tables were booked. No problem at all. The Sunday lunch was amazing, fantastic quality and loads to eat. And great value! Staggered out completely satisfied - the best Sunday lunch we'd had in 20 years. Completely recommend this fantastic establishment. We stumbled across The Ship Inn on our trip away to Filey and I am so glad that we did. We went for Sunday lunch, at first I was a little nervous that we were walking into a ‘locals’ pub, which it definitely is but the most inviting & welcoming local pub I have ever been to. I’m not sure if the man who welcomed & served us was the owner but he was so lovely & accommodating and great with our little girl. The food was lovely & everything just had a really homely feel. I would highly recommend & we will definitely return on our next trip!

What pubs used to be like, atmospheric, unique, a place to sip a local ale and talk to a friendly barman, the place just feels right. Don’t go expecting the crisp boutique designer bar, do go for an honest down to earth pint and wholesome food. Our Sunday roast was great, beef, gravy, vegetables and puds to die for and the deserts looked every bit as good (we were stuffed). In the nicest way possible we could have been in the 60s, 70s, or 80s a real trip down memory lane and all the better for it. If you’re in the area you really should give this little place a visit.

Dreaming of holidays today, so i am finally writing a review thats been on my list 11 months! . We stayed at Mouse cottage on the row last May 2023 as a couple and our little dog. We took a risk as only the pub in the village and we do like a pub in walking distance. We did not regret it. The pub is a proper traditional pub with lots of bits and bobs to look at. From the moment we landed on the Thursday we were greeted by landlords son-in law Paul. Himself and lady Linda were so friendly, welcoming and warm. Its very dog friendly too. They worked their socks off as their other halves were both out of action at that time. The locals were fantastic, what a community they have there :) we enjoyed it that much we did the quiz night(terribly) and the night with a singer on. We also made sure we popped in to say tarrah on the last night. The food looked fantastic and they are famous for their Sunday lunches, but they were already booked up as we would have loved one of those. We hope to return again in the future. Highly recommend

A lovely little old world charmed pub with various antique trinkets such as copper pots, post boxes, butter churns, and general bric à brac adorning the walls, shelves, and ceilings. Food is seved at certain times, but I can't give much info on that, as I was only visiting early on a bank holiday Monday. Only 1 real ale on offer at the time. But there are plenty of keg beers. Mainly a one roomed pub, but divided areas, and a single bar.

We were staying at a local caravan park and decided to come for tea, definitely not a place to come if you have children, lots of trinkets everywhere in reach, also had a bit of a run in with someone who was either a local or part of the pub, he made a comment about one of my children and its only when my husband gave him a stern look he laughed it off and left us alone, left us feeling really uncomfortable, you get the feeling if you're not a local you're not welcome. The food there was really good, however it is very expensive, £8 for ONE milkshake! However, the milkshake was easily the best drink I've ever had. The experience there was really good, and the restaraunt was well decorated with halloween decorations such as skeletons. It had very kind workers as well! I would recommend for you to go there for tea, because it is a very good place and not very busy either(well when we went there). I would recommend it for people who love food like chips, burgers and milkshakes(american food). Overall, it was a very fun time but it was expensive.
