Walkers Fish Restaurant in Scarborough

Wow, walked down to East Ayton from the Lodge for evening meal and found Walkers Fish Restaurant. Yes dog friendly so found our seats. Menu was large not just Fish and Chips. Both chose haddock, mine battered but Peg chose grilled (how good is that). Followed that with a wide selection of ice cream. They gave us a small plate for each of the 2 pets to share ours. If in the area we will be back again and would recommend checking the menu to see the lovely choice then going.

We came to a local caravan site for a short break and while here we had both takeaway and sit down meal, and on another occasion we bought some of their ice cream. We planned to go and sit down when we first arrived but in the end decided to get a takeaway. My wife had scampi and chips and I had medium haddock and chips, with gravy and mushy peas. All excellent, and I got some of their gelato which they put in a takeaway container with a lid for me which was also excellent. On our last night, after enjoying the takeaway, we decided to go and sit down to eat. The restaurant was very nice, clean and had a lovely family-run and family-friendly feel. The staff on both occasions we visited were very lovely, caring and attentive without being "in your face" so to speak. The food was very good and very well cooked. We had three courses with drinks which came to £75. Highly recommend for both takeaway and eat in. I didn't get a photo of my dessert as it looked so good I forgot and ate it 🤣

After a really lovely morning at scarborough, having coffee at the Watermark cafe which we highly recomend. We decided to go back nearer our holiday let as it was very busy on the coast. Walkers was on the way so decided to give it a try for lunch. Walking into an empty place bar 2 or 3 diners, the receptionist looked at a table plan for 30 seconds before deciding we are able to sit and eat.... We both were very disappointed with our food. Chips ok on one meal but both grilled lemon sole and fried plaice very poor. Skirt left on the sole and fillet of plaice full of bones!.yuk. ( not filleted) Delicate sole served with big plain boiled potatoes no dressing and a token salad bit on the side. Not the most expensive but definitely not the best. Nice pot of tea but £40 down and disappointed.

The best fish & chips I have had!

We was visiting the area meeting friend. So we pop in for late lunch we had a lovely table @ the front has we had a little dog which wasn’t a problem 1 of our party was gluten-free No problem We thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips and sides with our drinks great Service friendly staff would come again if we was in the area Thank you

Choice was good even though restaurant was busy the food and service was still very good

We had lunch at Walkers today ( our 3rd visit) the food was excellent, and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. (I am visually impaired and needed a table with good light) We were waited on by Katie who provided excellent, friendly and helpful service. Look forward to returning. Simon and Trish

Beautiful fish and chips with great service. We were a large party and easily able to accommodate. All Food arrived at the same time and nobody had any complaints! The puddings are absolutely amazing too (if you can fit it all in)!

Been loads of time and always been satisfied but today I decided to try a pudding and went for the syrup sponge. Bad choice not much taste of syrup . When I went to pay the bill I was not asked if we had enjoyed our meal so I mentioned the syrup sponge as not being very nice and could not taste the syrup she said she could not believe me as it was very popular and so I did not get an apology of any kind. She didnt seem to care very bad customer service. I would go again as the fish and chips are very good but keep away from syrup sponge and hope the customer service is better

Excellent quality. Lovely batter and piping hot. Very consistent and reasonably priced. Best in the area. Portions on the generous side, small fish n chips would do for most people. Staff friendly and efficient.

Great place to eat. Staff, food and service 100%. We have been customers for 11 years and always delighted. Had a lovely meal tonight and the young waiter (Jake) gave us a lift home due to heavy rain after our meal. What a star! What a business! Thank you Jake and Walkers 👍

Very disappointed experience fish was very greasy and chips soggy and looking at the dessert displayed in the open fridge they looked if old if there been in there for days very poor display really putting off ordering any dessert. The food quality has gone and we will not going back. Prices do not reflect the quality of the food!

Love this place , its a little gem .. love the smell of the fish and chips as you walk up from car park , & always being top notch , as it should be at the prices that have gone up to a silly level we wont be in rush to go again .. price increase like everywere else i supose .. BUT i must just point out the chips seem to be getting a battering on reviews & in all honesty i Must Agree to some extent ! As the chips we had today spoilt our treat out ... Oh dear ,, and yes we never said anything as we are polite & didnt want an atmosphere .. But to put it bluntly .. the chips were edible JUST .. as any longer in the warmer , or pan or whatever way they are kept warm would have resulted in us rejecting them .. color was as if overcooked and tasted bland ,, anyway just hope they are better on our next trip out from Bridlington if we do ,, or i am afraid it will be the last .. I am sure there must be a logical reason why they were so scrappy ends and overcooked ... all other aspects of this place is well worth a visit if in area but might try new shop across rd as sure the chips will be much better .. .....

I'm really disappointed in their food this time. Chips were awful burnt and rock hard. Used to love their dessert selection but not so much to choose from. The chocolate cake was dry. Won't be coming here again I'm afraid.

Been here many times in the past, the food has always been good and the staff always helpful. It’s bordering on a more expensive eating place now, and that would be okay if it wasn’t for the appalling state of the carpet. Please replace it! I haven’t been for a while and it’s bad enough to put me off going again anytime soon. It’s worn out, dull and grubby, with bad stains particularly around the dessert fridges. It’s very off putting. I can’t be the only person to notice it. It spoils an otherwise great eating establishment.

This fish and chips is worth every penny, great fish great chips and great deserts. If you have kids there is a play park just around the corner aswel. Will be coming back many times

Lovely fish and chips. The service was a bit hit and miss. But otherwise very nice. Lovely restaurant, well decorated and clean and tidy.

Went here to celebrate my grandads birthday, was packed but the service made us feel like the only people in the room. Very friendly waiter, helped with allergies and was very fast on drinks and food. I got the gammon, though think it was not smoked it was tasty and the portion was huge! Also cooked perfectly with the fat being crispy. Eggs cooked perfectly too. Chips could have been better but that's just being fussy tbh.

Great it was recommended and was really fantastic, always book don't just assume this is an ordinary chip shop restaurant

We have been to Walker's a number of times and always enjoyed their fish and chips. I never thought that I would see the day when it would be necessary to book a fish and chip restaurant. We saw a sign saying, "sorry fully booked." As we could see that it looked to be half empty, we went inside to check the validity of the statement. It turned out to be correct. That turned out to be a waste of 22 miles of fuel. Last time we drove over from Scarborough only to find them closed on a Monday. Our fault for not checking. I suppose living in a large town, between two big cities, we are used to places opening seven days a week. I also think that a bird in the hand is more advantageous than the possibility of a number of birds in the bush. Two fails. We won't be back.

Fantastic, and had gf option for my fish and chips which is brilliant. The coffee Maple and Walnut pavlova was yummo

I thought that the best fish and chips I've ever had was in Southwold. Today that changed to this place. I'm sad that it's too far to travel regularly.

Walkers maintains it's exemplary standards. Called in for lunch today with my wife. We have dined here on numerous previous occasions the fish is always top quality as is all the accompaniments. Served by a lovely young lady called Kerry who couldn't do enough for us. Thank you we will be back soon.

This is a stunning eat in fish restaurant but unfortunately not dog friendly so with this in mind I asked if they did take out.. Yep they did...had a ten minute wait while our food was freshly cooked. Fish chips and mushy peas.. lovely would deffo recommend and we will be returning

Food absolutely delicious, outstanding gluten free Fish and Chips. Big portions! Dessert just as brilliant as mains. I would fully recommend and would go back if I lived closer!

Pricey at £36 for One of Each twice, (one regular, one small) mushy peas, curry sauce and two teas. Food was great, loos, carpets, radiator, uncomfortable seat, all well below standard for a Restaraunt.

Sadly bad experience Haddock not good Battered and dry fish offered replacement meals only to be similar quality to previous meals.Not a good experience for £,37 bill and no offer of apology offered only passed comment no one else had said anything. Will definitely not be returning ....

Best fish&chips in the area. Love the quality of the fish & the batter is delicious. Not to mention the desserts which are all homemade & to die for.

As a vegetarian, possibly the wrong place to visit. The three other people with me, eat fish so they were okay. Have tried the vegetarian options twice, to day they are grim, does them a favour!!! I had a plain, boring, tasteless salad, squashed onto a tea plate. The carpet is stained, dirty and full of recent food debris.......could have been cleaned away before next customers arrived. Whoever makes the Eton Mess should look up the correct recipe. A very efficient and amusing young man served our table. He was the best part of the visit.

Extensive menu, reasonably priced. Fabulous fish & chips! Friendly staff and efficient service. Would have liked to try one of the gorgeous looking puddings, but were too full after our fish & chips. Another time perhaps....

We had take out. Food was cooked fresh and of good quality. Staff extremely helpful and pleasant with a welcoming atmosphere.

Staff were polite, helpful and cheerful. I'm a vegetarian and was relieved to find that veggies are also catered for. The food was well presented, of good quality and of a generous portion size. I would definitely eat there again.

Known for fish and chips, but we stopped for lunch in the pudding bar. We had scones cake and coffee. The scones and cake were freshly made and delicious. As good a cappuccino as you'll get anywhere. Worth a visit.

Recommended by a good friend, we attended Walkers during a weekend away in the area. I was told that I wouldn't be disappointed with their menu....and we weren't, absolutely delicious fresh fish and chips cooked in beef dripping....Wow. I've certainly missed Yorkshire Fish and Chips! The kids also really enjoyed the home made desserts. Highly recommended

We had home made toasted teacakes the worst I've ever tasted. I left mine, my friend wrapped hers up in a napking to throw away. What I had us sat in my stomach like a lump of lead. Sorry won't be goi g back

Great independent business. Fish and chips are superb. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Also do cakes and snacks if you don't want a full meal. If you're anywhere near this place call in, you won't be disappointed.

Nicely prepared food and very accommodating staff. The cafeteria side is well worth visiting during the day if you fancy a snack. The mixed salad is fresh and varied and sandwiches are always good.

I was pleased to find plaice on the menu as it is not readily available nowadays. We both had a good meal and the desserts were lovely and with custard !

Lovely place to stop for cake and coffee. Or go all out and enjoy beautiful fish and chips. If you are not a fish and chip kinda guy, there is an extensive menu! Puddings are to die for!

What a great find, we stumbled across this marvellous fish restaurant, Saturday lunchtime. We had Haddock, chips and mushy peas, it was delicious. The fish was some of the best, I've ever eaten. The staff helpful and friendly, the restaurant was light and airy. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

We ate here last night as part of our trip to Yorkshire and we were not disappointed. We both had a small fish and chips with a side order of garden peas and they were absolutely delicious. The batter was so light and really tasty and fish cooked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Very good value as well.

We went here for my Aunt's 80th. They let us store a home made cake in their kitchen and, without being asked, brought it out with candles on. Really great service. Been there a couple of times otherwise and the food has always been good.

Excellent cod and chips, the regular size leaves space for a sweet! Fast and friendly service. I would guess they get busy although it's bigger inside than it appears driving past.

Called in out of the blue and wasn't busy. Had the small fish and chips this time but could have eaten a little more. Regular is just too much so need an inbetweener. Didn't have room for dessert but look delicious. A coffee shop visit may be needed instead.

Fantastic place, lovely food, staff and atmosphere.

We went in on a Tuesday afternoon so it was a little quiet hence the rating for atmosphere. The food was great, traditional fish (I had cod but there were several other sustainable fish varieties) and chips with mushy peas. All great, not greasy where you can feel it running out of your pores 20 minutes later but crispy and delicious. The pudding choice is worth going for on its own

What a charming surprise, from outside it looks tiny, but once inside......wow, it's like a tardis. Welcoming staff, warm atmosphere, great menu and fair prices. I would highly recommend.
