It was horrible I was waiting 2 hours for 9 chips a 5 ounce steak and 4 onion rings just for it to come out basically raw and chips were cold

great lunch at The Wharf; we had the all day breakfast which was well cooked with good ingredients, dog friend with water and biscuits available for our pooch; plenty of outdoor tables for the summer

The Angus Burger should definitely have the Michelin star!

This place is a historic place to visit with plenty of stories of great events that have happened in the past. It is definitely worth a visit, but come and find out for yourself.

I was new in town and found this pub to be the perfect place to meet great people. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and I’ve already made a few good friends here. The staff is friendly, and the drinks are excellent. I haven’t tried the food yet, but I definitely will next time. Highly recommend this place!

Me and my other half have eaten at the whaler quite a few times and each time the staff have been brillent , poilte , the food is amazing. Deffo recommend.

What a wonderful discovery! Went to walk along the sea wall to see the art and get some winter sun and came across this delightful pub. Wondeful atmosphere, staff, vibe - great food at a fab price (massively recommend the burgers and cheesecake). Spent the afternoon playing some of their games - Backgammon and Connect 4. Luckily I don't live too far away so I can go back soon for some of their events - a really interesting mix of stuff coming up - bingo, quiz, love music and DJs.

What a lovely little place! A fab experience here. We went for lunch on New Year’s Eve and the atmosphere was buzzing. Clearly loved by locals, who are all very friendly, as were all the staff, too. We pre-ordered food for 7 people and it was all delicious (impressed with the vegan burger). Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this little gem of a place, which is also dog friendly at one end. Thank you for a lovely end to 2024.

Found this place on a recommendation from a fellow trucker. 10 minutes walk from purfleet truck wash. Well worth it. Food was spot on and a good choice of beers. Will definitely be back when I'm next in the area. Great greeting from the barman. The pub has character. It's nice to find a traditional British pub. Well recommended to all.

Sad day 26 th October our mum passed away and the family meet up at the wharf hotel to say goodbye we arrive lunch time for drink and stayed for lunch we had Thai curry would recommend lovely seating area and the staff and locals where all very friendly

Went to the Wharf pub today and what a great day we had as a family. Firstly, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming which created a lovely atmosphere. The food was fantastic, definitely best we have had in a while. It was very fresh, home cooked Thai food. We will definitely be returning and recommending to other friends and family.

Have been here a few times and think I need to review this marvellous pub and restaurant. The owners are friendly, even remember my name! The bar staff are friendly, even the customers are chatty! The food is very good and if a high standard. This pub stands on the bank of the River Thames with a public bar, a garden as well as outdoor seating and a small restaurant with two very good chefs. It is an old building completely renovated and restored. I have had many happy days and evenings here and would definitely recommend a visit if you live locally or are passing through Grays Thurrock.

Food was amazing. Cliff was such a nice friendly man and kind, the advice and recommendation on what to order was perfect the pie was so nice.

Absolutely banging food - I've tried a few bits on the menu - the lasagna is my all time favourite, all the food is homemade and so cheap for the quality. I've spent years searching for the perfect lasagna and I've finally found it 😋 the hosts are lovely and I love the plants. Highly recommend

Came here on a Sunday afternoon, welcomed by a smiley chubby man in glasses who is the owner.. Because it was our first time here he bought me a drink and supplied a bowl of water and dog biscuits for our pooch.. Some really friendly customers and locals, has an open fire on cold days and daily happy hours- food is great too..!! (suggest the Thai Green Curry). Highly recommended..!!

Not what it once was. I used to go here as a student years ago. On the sea wall but so built up now. The pub is very expensive - two glasses of soft drink were £6. Nice blast from the past but wouldn’t go back.

Visited The Wharf today for lunch with our friends. The 2 girls behind the bar were superb! Full of banter and really friendly. As soon as we arrived they explained that there would be a long wait for food as they only had 1 chef. As the food is really cheap I was expecting pre cooked pub grub. We had to wait an hour for it to arrive, but when it did.... boy was it worth the wait! 2 of us had the basic chicken curry (extra hot) with rice and a side of fries. Best pub curry I've ever had! The other 2 had the fish and katsu curry which they liked. Thoroughly recommend this pub.

Popped in for a lunch, nice British menu with all the favourites, Toad in the Hole, Fish n Chips, Burgers, Lasagne, garlic bread etc.. I had the lasagne, home cooked style was delicious, served with skin on fries, and coleslaw, plus garlic bread, lovely job! My friend enjoyed his Toad in the hole too, great portions and perfectly cooked.

Stopped for some lunch on a Saturday afternoon walk down the river. Really friendly atmosphere, Jodie was so lovely and helpful. Chef was also amazing, the toad in the holes were stunning. Food and drinks all very reasonably priced. Will definitely return

We booked a table for 4 for a Sunday roast, and what can we say one of the best roast dinners we have had from start to finish. The roast potatoes and Onion gravy were excellent, the whole meal and experience there was wonderful. Compliments to the chef for wonderful food. We will be visiting again.

We booked a table for 17 with one days notice and the staff and owner could not have been more helpful. Food was fresh, home made and delicious and the atmosphere was homely. The table was beautifully decorated. We all had a really lovely time and will be back!

A GREAT little local pub that has many incarnations over the years. Always a friendly crowd and a great location by the river for a pint in the sunshine. The Tuesday night pub quiz is a good launch and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The selection of drinks is good, with some nice beers and a good selection of gins for those who prefer something a bit stronger! Many years ago (2001) my 5 a side football team used this as our home pub and would gather after games for a post match analysis and a couple of carb rich pints to recharge our tired bones!

We visited the wharf pub for the first time as we have recently moved to the area. We was served by Beth who seemed very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately there was a lot of items on the menu that were unavailable at the time but I enjoyed a Thai curry which was made nice and fresh and was very tasty. My husband enjoyed the burger and chips and we also had some sides too. We wasn’t happy with one of the starters we ordered so they offered us something else which was fine. Overall a lovely pub that we would recommend and we would be visiting again. Great customer service, food and drinks 👍🏼

Historic old riverside pub. The wooden furniture in the beer garden is in very poor condition, the whole area could do with a renovation and tidy up. There is plenty of outside seating and a large car park. Very slow bar service during busy times. Its a good place to have a drink and watch the boats go by if you are tall enough to look over the sea wall.

The staff was awesome. We had a good time talking with Beth and other members in the pub. The drunk we had was good, unfortunately the oven was down so we didn't stay to order food. We might try to come back later, but we had fun for the short time we were there

I liked it be near the Thames where I had a walk on the riverside pavements. Good for meditation and contemplation.

Sad to say I was very disappointed. Went there as a memorial for our dear friend who passed away a year ago as it was her local and she liked to go to their Quiz night. Quz was great 1. I was given the wrong drink. 2. My daughter's dinner order was forgotten. As we are unlikely to go back there the free meal did not compensate the memory of our lost friends enjoyment of her local pub.

We’ve been visiting this pub for years. The pub has seen its peaks and troughs. As of writing this I feel the pub is in a deep whole. Putting it delicately, the clientele seem more interested in shoving white powder up their shnoz and fighting (attempting to harm each other with their cars as an example). The culture and atmosphere of any establishment is the remit of those with the power to make a change. I’ll be voting with my feet and my wallet. How things change for the better and don’t get worse.

I've known The Wharf for a very long time. Many a tale could be told of back in the day and it certainly has changed to meet the demands of the locals in this day and age. Pubs like The Wharf will always be there to cater for our needs and we need to support them to preserve the facility.

Was told about this pub from others. So, I gave it a go. What a great little place it is. Good view of Thames. Enjoyed myself emensly. Brilliant.

A listed building so it’s decked out with low beams and wooden floor etc . There are two bars as well where the pub is split in half which takes me back to my youth when most pubs had a saloon bar and a public bar , one of them ( saloon bar I think ? ) being slightly more salubrious where the couples would hang out and the other where the drinkers would congregate. The food is cheap and home made by the landlady which is not something you come across everyday . I had the ham egg and chips for £5 a perfect size meal for me on my exercise walk along the Thames washed down with a soda and lime , lovely ! They have quiz nights on Monday and karaoke Thursday with a dj or live music most saturdays so plenty going on . There are tables outside if the weather is nice with a view of the Thames twenty yards away or so . Definitely worth calling in for a beer and a plate of food

The Wharf is a wonderful pub. Very underrated, it's a hidden gem in Grays. I recommend people give it a try. I also find the staff to be helpful and friendly.

This updated review is for the recently reopened The Wharf pub. My friend and I no longer go into that pub, after they threw my friend out for no reason. He was just minding his own business, drinking his pint, when someone came over to him and asked him to leave. We haven’t been there since. And I’ve heard that they have a habit of asking people to leave for no reason.

Came here after a less than pleasant experience at a nearby pub. Good beer and food. Will definitely return when I am next in the area.

Thoroughly recommend. Been here only once a while ago, when we visited a long-time-no-see former colleague. Nice, clean place, good atmosphere; it wasn't too crowded, so could hear each other 😄 They also have a good selection of drinks to choose from.

Pub a bit rough around the edges, would be lovely with a bit of TLC. Sunday roast was lovely, just practice on your yorkshires...

Have just had some delicous food at the wharf pub, grays. For anyone who hasnt tried lomi yet get yourself down there, it is out of the world. Most tastiest dish ive had in a long time. Excellent staff exellent food very friendly all round great place.

Love this pub the food is amazing the NEW staff are fantastic and welcoming..the weekend entertainment is fantastic.. close to a children's park aswell lovely place to take the family..always feel safe with my little ones..the only local I visit and ever will visit...just need that snooker table or room as mentioned and charge by the hour and you'll be even greater....trust me there's nothing about snooker wise :) much love to my 2nd family
