Nice little place for a proper fry up. Friendly service, fast efficient and pragmatic - since there was a dozen of us turning up at different times it was exactly what was needed. Decent quality bacon and sausages. Cheap, too. Thanks and we will be back!

Went in for the first time so didnt know the protocol (table or counter service etc) so initially I went up to the counter about to ask one of the staff if I should sit down or order up there but before I even got a word out she very rudely looked at me like i was a piece of excrement on her shoe and abruptly said "No! Order down there!" Pointing to the other end of the counter (which was quite a way from the main entrance). I tried to bring the situation back by saying in my cheeriest voice "oh yes thats just what I was going to ask" but i felt that horrible bile rising up feeling you get after someone's been rude to you and in the end I lost my appetite and decided to leave. I got back to my car and burst into tears; it was a really horrible experience.

I only have eaten food to take away but this sites does offer dinning onsite but I had an all day breakfast to takeaway and was served in a poly box which was ok but considering it had only just been cooked within a few moments it took to drive home the food was near cold and the sausage so hard it resembled a sausage that had been microwaved severely times as was so dry it was not worth eating.

Sat waiting to be served while a member of staff sat eating in the general area. She didn't acknowledge our presence. To top that, with a face that says you have a month to live and I forgot to tell you three weeks ago is not what you want to be greeted with. However the other girls sort of made it easier. However I would be reluctant to class this as value for money. It's not bad but it's not worth the money it cost. When you eat out you like to be treated a bit special. Of I want to wait an eternity and have attitude I can eat at home. Guys and girls, You need to step up the anti. Then to serve food up after an in reasonable wait its wrong. Won't be rushing back. As it's a bit out the way to everything else I would have thought hey would make more effort. You have a potential for a little gold mine. Turn it round. Pull your staff into line. This isn't a meeting point for bling. And just morning coffee for school mums this has potential to go far.

We have visited here before and the food is amazing. The menu changes regularly and includes things like home made chicken liver pate, smoked salmon and home made soup for starters. Main meals can be the tenderest medallions of beef I've ever tasted, herb crusted lamb and cous cous stuffed peppers. Desserts are not to be missed with chocolate fondant which is warm and served with berries, lemon tart and berries in amaretto. It is a small place which only seats a maximum of around 20 people but this just adds to the ambience as it is a personal service. They didn't have a certain wine on my last visit but I have had a call to tell me they now have it - that is good service x

My family and I have eaten here on several occasions and have been impressed every time. We ate there when it had first opened and could not have been happier with the overall experience. The food was incredible and the service was wonderful. We most recently dined here on Valentines day. They were offering a 7/9 course set menu starting with a Kir Royale on arrival. Unfortunately when my husband and I arrived we were greeted with Prosecco which was very nice but not what we were expecting. We did mention it to the waitress and it was rectified immediately and generously they left us with the Prosecco too. The waitress then took our order but told us that the soup that was on the menu was no longer being served, It had been changed. Fortunately neither of us had planned to have this. The waitress stated that there was no need to order our desserts until later. The Amuse-Bouche arrived which was lobster en croute and it was divine! The chicken liver pate was wonderful and the smoked duck and orange salad that my husband ordered was very moreish. This was followed by the first of two pallet cleansers. A mango sorbet which was to die for. Mango sorbet made with coconut milk and a beautifully sweet yet rich mango sauce. I followed that with a lobster cocktail and my husband had the Thai crab cakes. Unlike most fish/crab cakes that i have tried before these seemed to be filled mostly with crab and not potato which felt quite luxurious. They were so flavoursome! This was followed by the second sorbet of the evening which was lemon. Very tart and very tasty. My husband and I wanted to have the Chateaubriand for 2. It was by far the best steak either of us had ever eaten and I have eaten a lot! They came over to take our dessert order. I asked for the Crème Brulee but they said they didn't have any. I was so so disappointed. The restaurant had released this menu approximately 2 weeks before the evening so I had been looking forward to this for some time! My husbands sticky toffee pudding however.....went down a storm. We were also offered another glass of Prosecco each (on the house) which was a nice touch. The whole meal was topped off with coffee, petit four and a rose (which we had to remind them of). As we had to remind them they also offered my husband one too. They may have to be reminded of the odd thing and I appreciate they shouldn't have to be but they rectify every situation immediately and the customer service was faultless. Many people that I have spoken to claim that all of this for £49.95pp seems like a lot of money. I completely disagree! That is a great price for fine dining for that many courses! We live close enough to walk to it so no taxi required and we needed to buy no drinks at all. Definitely worth a try and its wonderful to have fine dining just up the road. There are a few things that could be addressed but definitely not the food. Try it!

Been here on 4 occasions and what the place lacks in atmosphere and sophistication it makes up with with the food's quality, value, taste and flavour. The chef is a friendly and often asks you personally how you want your food cooked. By day this restaurant is a sandwich bar / bistro but its run by different people at night and can highly recommend it even though the cost of their 3 course menu has risen to £29 (from £19 which was underpriced) it still represents great value and having eaten out in Essex (and elsewhere) I challenge anyone to find a better value for money sit down restaurant meal.

A very late review! Great little place which is open in the evening Thursday to Saturday providing about 15 seats. Open daily as a sandwich bar. I visited on a Thursday evening with 4 friends and chose from the great set menu (Which I believe changes daily) I had asparagus to start, followed by the most succulent beef - it was similar to a deconstructed beef Wellington and melted in the mouth. This was served with chunky chips and a huge bowl of steaming hot vegetables. Dessert was panacotta served in a tiny cup and saucer. Divine! Great value for money and a lovely friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to going again this weekend
