Popped in for a quick pint following the end of year celebration at the local secondary school, very pleasant gentleman serving behind the bar, good selection of beers, and a lovely pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord on pull, £10.40 for two pints and a large coke, would happily return

I visited last week. The shop had good reviews and was fairly close to where I was staying. I bought haddock and chips. The main problem was a soggy, greasy batter. This had soaked through to the meat of the fish so it no longer retained its beautiful whiteness. The chips were mostly small and hard. One of the worst fish suppers I've ever had. I'm from the North East of Scotland and am used to excellently cooked fish and chips.

I went to the Portsmouth Arms with a group of friends for late night food. This is one of those quirky little gems hidden in the countryside that delivers great food and has fantastic hosts. The new owners, Heather and Tim, made us completely welcome and were on point with their service. Good old fashioned food at great prices and cheap ale on tap made the evening even better. If you visit make sure to ask the owners about the history of the building. They will keep you on the edge of your seat for hours with its rich heritage and incredible story dating from the late 1400s to modern day. I'll definitely visit again.

This place is a gem, we stopped in on the way to Longleat. Very decent "cafe" food, generous portions and the service is outstanding. As the parent of a child with autism I was really pleased to see that they employ neurodiverse people. Finally, it's very good value for money. 4 of us had brunch with drinks for £50. George was a wonderful waiter, kind, friendly and some of the best customer service I've ever had. They also catered for my son's gluten-free diet, to the extent of putting fresh oil into the fryer for his chips. There is parking very nearby, 1 hour is free. I couldn't fault it.
