The 3 course menu at £65 seemed excellent value. Snacks, bread etc and a starter of scorched mackerel were I thought up to star standard. Vegetarian options, starter of Ashcroft tomatoes, and a main of a seasonal corn ‘risotto’, were also very well received. There was a £5 supplement for a small piece of brill served with a stuffed courgette flower as the other main course. I didn’t recognise the crab which was listed as one of the ingredients and the tartare roe sauce was dominant. The plate of food was small and I was still hungry after this course. I chose cheese as a dessert and this was served with crackers and some attractive dried fruit bread (still a little soft in the middle). A good selection of cheese was provided. It did carry the obligatory supplement (£8). Taking into account the overall quality of the cooking, the ingredients, the low key but agreable surroundings and the friendly and efficient service the meal was still pretty good value though the main course could have been a little larger. On a return visit I would go for the tasting menu at £100.

We visited for a relaxing weekday lunch and were blown away by the innovative and great value £65 three course menu. Every dish was a superb blend of flavours and textures. My wife would want the lobster dish called out as “the best starter ever” and I think the lamb main was very special too. All this was served by the very professional Daniel and his team all of whom were happy to engage in conversation about the food, wine and restaurant in general. A wonderful experience that exceeded expectations

This is a much undervalued restaurant in the Chiswick High Road area. The food is superb, with very good quality ingredients and snazzy mises-en-bouche. Nevertheless, if they are aiming for a Michelin star, they need to sharpen up a little. We had the wrong wine and the wrong main course delivered to our table. This was, however, compensated for by a discount on our final bill. The front appearance of the restaurant also needs some attention. The terrace looks uninteresting and not inviting. I can just hear Alex Polizzi ripping it to pieces. A few more flowers, more stylish tables and chairs would go a long way. This restaurant deserves better. We will come back regardless.

Lovely restaurant, excellent service, food cooked to perfection and well presented, sadly lacking in flavour, especially the vegetarian options, which left my wife underwhelmed. I had some smoked eel as a starter, a smoked pigs cheek as an entree and guinea fowl with an apricot sauce, sadly my main was lacking in flavour. Lovely puddings though. Gave them positive feedback as we always do and we would consider going back.

We stumbled upon The Silver Birch (rather aptly named after one of my favourite trees) following a lovely afternoon in Kew Gardens. This is a true neighbourhood gem. It’s quiet, unassuming and simply charming. My friend and I had a really enjoyable experience! We opted for the a la carte dinner menu, mostly as I was drawn towards the apple & warm donuts listed on the dessert menu… which absolutely did not disappoint, and may be the best dessert I’ve had all year. The service was excellent and very well deserving of its recent 3 rossettes. This is an exceptional place to eat and you can really tell that they love what they do, from the accommodating service, to the creativity and execution of the dishes. It felt a real treat to visit here. A big thank you to everyone at the Silver Birch for a gorgeous culinary journey!

This was my first visit to The Silver Birch and was a most enjoyable experience. The welcome was warm and the service impeccable. I chose the set lunch which was preceded by delicious amuses bouches. The confit trout was accompanied by earthy baby beets with a horseradish foam. My guinea hen main course was melt in the mouth tender. The rhubarb based dessert provided a refreshing finish to the meal. I will return!

Exceptional food, excellent service, sensibly priced wine list. We live quite nearby but had never heard of Silver Birch until the Sunday Times piece. Booked an early dinner table for a Tuesday, more in hope than expectation, given that the ST writer wasn’t Giles Coren. But we were bowled over by the quality and the “interestingness” of everything. Expect (unless you are drinking water) to spend over 100 a head for three courses. But it’s very well worth it.

We feel fortunate to have this very good restaurant on our doorstep. An excellent Saturday lunch - a quiet time to go, well worth it if you have struggled to get a dinner reservation. This is top quality dining for a neighbourhood restaurant; great attention to detail and well paired flavours. The canapes and breads which arrive first are absolutely superb, well in excess of what you might expect from such a restaurant and they certainly leave you excited for your meal. Portions here for a Saturday lunch are quite dainty but that is just perfect after all the canapes and breads, could not be better. My smoked eel starter was a joy, looked beautiful too. Even the lovage butter which came with the bread was artfully pretty, it is all gorgeous. With my pidgeon main course the much anticipated Stornoway black pudding was in a mousse father than a slice - which I would have preferred - but that is just my preference. Someone else has compared this restaurant favourably to La Trompette nearby, both for the lightness of touch and for the price; I agree.

This is my second time coming to The Silver Birch. The food was very good as usual, but the service left me feeling awkward and uncomfortable. My partner and I dined here at lunchtime on a Saturday. Apart from us and one other couple, the restaurant was deserted, and the food was coming out rather quickly - almost too quickly for us to really savor it. I had the same experience the first time I had visited last year, but had put it down to the restaurant being busy on a Friday night. One specific incident I wanted to highlight is that between the starter and the main course, I got up to use the ladies room. The waitress was distressed to see me get up, and I told her I was only going to use the restroom. She told me “but we were about to serve your food”. I didn’t know how to respond to this. She then went and reported this to the American server / maitre d / bartender, who came and told me “but we were just about to bring out your food”. He genuinely wanted me to return to my seat! I felt quite irritated at being reprimanded twice like this, and I told him I would only be a moment. I also peeked into the kitchen, and my food wasn’t yet on the serving window, so they couldn’t have even finished plating yet. And even if they had, surely they could have kept my food warm for a few minutes, or just left it at my table if they were that overwhelmed? This felt truly surreal; I felt as though I was at school and needed not only the teacher’s but also the headmaster’s permission to use the washroom. I tried my best to enjoy the meal after this incident, but I just felt awkward and couldn’t wait to leave. I felt that the staff thought that I was beneath them and I had committed some sort of faux pas by daring to get up during the meal just for a few minutes. I shouldn’t need to defend myself, but I’d like to point out that I’m no stranger to fine dining, and don’t think I broke any unwritten rules during our meal that could warrant such treatment from the staff. At the end of the meal we couldn’t wait to pay our bill and escape. Despite the incredible food, I just feel too awkward to come back and face the staff, so I won’t be returning or recommending the restaurant to friends, but I hope that management takes this feedback positively and tries to create a more comfortable and welcoming atmosphere at The Silver Birch!

What a wonderful restaurant! We had the Christmas lunch set menu and it was outstanding! Menu said it was three courses, but with the bread and “snacks” they provided, it was more like five courses. All were excellent. The snacks were shallots and pork. Bread had perfectly salted crust. Starters of trout and ravioli were very, very good. The main menu selections of cod and hen were perfectly cooked. The desert of Christmas pudding was delicious. Combined with the impeccable service, this restaurant should have a Michelin star. All at a very reasonable price. This restaurant is a 10!

This is a restaurant that offers cooking at its finest. Chiswick already has a well deserved Michelin starred restaurant in La Trompette. Silver Birch is obviously going for one. The cooking is lean cuisine without all the creamy buttery cloying sauces you'll find at La Trompette. Ok, it's not cheap but it also doesn't fry your bank card. It's my #1 choice for fine dining. The cod is to die for, as is the chocolate delice. They have these exceptional snacks, amazing home made bread. Service staff are 5 star. The One Thing that is negative is the loo. When I went to empty my slightly smaller man, the toilet had discarded paper towels on the floor which had overflowed the bin. If you want a Michelin star....

On our last visit, the food was outstanding. Tonight, however, something wasn't quite right. I opted for the vegetarian main dish, which amounted to 5 or 6 chunks of bland courgettes and a stuffed courgette flower, which was crying out for flavour. I'm not a vegetarian, but I feel that those who are vegetarian often get a raw deal. £23 for such meagre dish is a little unfair and cynically priced.

A sensational visit to one of Chiswicks true hidden gems! On arrival we were greeted with a very warm welcome into a beautifully decorated restaurant - it set the tone for a truly unforgettable experience. A wonderful menu selection with a la carte and a tasting menu, we opted for a la carte with 3 starters between 2 of us and 1 main course each. The presentation, flavours and simplicity of each dish accomplished by a truly brilliant culinary team was wonderful. A table of 2 sat next to us and ordered after we had finished and my guest and I both agreed we were jealous of what they had ordered as we just wanted to eat all over again! Cocktails amazing, great dining options with the chefs table and private dining room. One of the best restaurants I have been to in a LONG time and I will 100% be going back at the earliest possible opportunity. Bravo team, keep doing what you're doing!!!

The amuses bouche were quite simply delicious: inventive, beautifully presented and described simply but perfectly .The menu was extremely well designed and presented. The confit duck egg intriguing and delicious; the lamb was cooked to perfection, and the cheese served at perfect temperature and the portion exactly enough to leave room for the exquisite macaroons and the enigmatic and delectable fennel/chocolate fudge. All in all a perfect evening and left me with the intention to return to take the tasting menu as soon as possible.

Still a lovely experience and enjoyable and romantic dinner overall. There is a lot going for this restaurant. The ambiance, service, welcome and flavours are all excellent. The quality of canapés and amuse bouche perfection. The beautiful crusty bread with whipped butter the the most delicious I have tasted. Our starters mixed. Duck confit fantastic. Eel and jersey potato just too tiny. Mains felt expensive at £38 Lamb and £32 Chicken for minimal food content however flavour spot on. The chocolate dessert wonderful and the gooseberry delicious but needed to be more than a dessert spoonful.

A warm and inviting space with amazingly delicious food. The Silver Birch delivered on food, service and making a celebration special. For me, the birthday girl, I was offered an aperitif of my choice on arrival. The menu was excitingly promising despite it being a limited menu. The pasta was fresh with a beautiful bite, whilst my fish main with fresh muscles was divine! Then came a little surprise from the chef with a freshly cooked scallop which I would have a thousand times over. The dessert of pistachio cake was the perfect ending. Top service, especially when my animated sled spilt a whole glass of wine. The team immediately gave me another one no questions asked. It was a truly memorable place and if you’re looking for somewhere special in West London for a date night, anniversary or birthday, this place is simply perfect.

When you charge high end for coffee you should provide high end customer service. One customers coffee was being prepared (slowly as always) not even an acknowledgement for the barista that I was even in the shop. Just a simply “Hi sorry I will be with you in a minute” would have done the job. This is a basic rule in hospitality. Forget cocktails & happy hours focus on the basics.
