Having been a frequent visitor to this pub over the years and supporting it during and after Covid we were disgusted by the Landlord's behaviour. I was having a drink with a few friends and because my very well behaved 12 year old left the front door slightly open he kicked it shut and became aggressive towards us. We didn’t feel safe being female. He told us we were not welcome at the pub and said he didn’t care if we left. We were absolutely stunned after sitting there in peace and spending the best part of £22 on 2 pints and cokes. The Landlord hates kids of any kind. After happily taking my money for the drinks he then shouts this isn’t a place for kids! It was 4pm on a Sunday afternoon and they were happy sitting outside in the garden. No wonder this pub is failing and the one down the road is thriving. Never coming here again. Don’t bother.

Delightful pub with a very warm welcome from the Landlords and a roaring fire on a damp day! Nice pub food, well cooked. Good beer. We called in, passing by, and were so pleased we did. Rare to find a pub so well cared for and a lovely feeling when you walked in.

Lovely visit on a sunny Saturday to The Bull. Haven’t been before but after driving past a few weeks ago we decided to visit. Lovely ploughman’s lunch and a few drinks in the outdoor seating area. Owners and staff were very friendly , up for a laugh and just seemed really nice down to earth people. It had a really traditional village pub feel , we shall be going back!

We had booked the dining area for a lunch time event to celebrate the life of a close family member who had died. Tina and her husband were so caring and helpful and laid on exactly the food we wanted and catered for everyone’s needs with great kindness and sensitivity. Nothing was too much trouble. Can definitely recommend.

Called today, 28 April 2022, after a long walk for a late lunch. We were made welcome by Katrina and were soon served drinks and ordered our food. There is a very pleasant and relaxing refurbished seating area. The meals were very tasty - I can recommend the fish pie as one of the best I have eaten. Well worth visiting The Bull at Burrough Green if you are in the area.

We were hesitant about eating at The Bull because they had decided against taking part in the government’s ‘Eat out to help out’ scheme but the menu attracted us and as it was the final night of our holiday in the Cambridge area we decided to splash out and we were extremely glad that we ‘took the plunge’. The food was excellent. All made at home and cooked to her Mum’s recipes, Katrina, the landlady, did a wonderful job. Her pies are filled to the brim with tender meat or chicken and not at all skimped. We used to own our own pub where all our food was home prepared so we really did appreciate the quality and hard work that went into the preparation of Katrina’s food. Both she and Dareth, her excellent front of house barman, were friendly and chatty and, not forgetting Jack the pub’s lovely Cocker Spaniel, all made for a very enjoyable final evening to our holiday. We ate out every evening, eleven of them, and there was only one other restaurant with food that we rated as highly as The Bull so thank you Katrina, Dareth and Jack for making us so welcome and feeding us so well.

My friend and I called at this pub on a Thursday lunchtime at around 12.30. It was packed. We were asked if we had booked, and when we said no, the member of staff serving said she was very sorry - they had had an influx of 25 people and they would be unable to serve us. We realised this was our own fault for not reserving a table. When she saw us looking crestfallen, she said 'If you don't mind waiting a bit, I'll squeeze you in.' They did. We were served by 1.00 with lovely food, and the staff, though very busy, were charming. Thank you - we will come again - and we'll book ahead this time! It is hard for country pubs like this to plan because during the week they may only get one or two people wanting food. The menu was full and varied. Well done.

We planned to have a pub lunch before a meet at Newmarket. We figured it would be more fun to have a nice pub lunch and not rush before the gates opened at 3pm. We had lunch here in May 2011 and I had to trawl through old diaries to remind myself where it was. First I was glad it was still open and the website was very informative and we could peruse their menus. I booked us a table through Facebook (they responded very quickly). Secondly we were greeted in a very friendly way and served very quickly. It is a very cosy and recently renovated (it felt like) pub with a restaurant area at the back. There is a good selection of well priced starters and mains (and desserts). There is something for everyone. The drink selection is good too! One thing we did comment on was how many older people were there and so if the food is good enough for them, it must be good! Afterwards we sat in the beer garden out the front looking out to the expansive primary school opposite and the village green. Overall it was a thoroughly decent visit. It set us up well for an afternoon and evening at the races. We promise not to leave it another 8 years.

We won a meal for two at The Bull in our local Hospice raffle but would have happily paid for our lovely Sunday lunch. We got a great warm welcome from Rob, Katrina and Jack, the gorgeous cocker spaniel. The bar had a warming fire going and a good range of beers, wines and drinks. The dining area was separate from the bar and was light and airy, loved the hare wallpaper. We shared a starter of crispy breadcrumbed slices of Portobello mushroom with a side salad and garlic mayo dip. My roast sirloin of beef came with roast potatoes and parsnips, shredded cabbage, peas and broccoli, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding. My partner's roast pork came with the same plus crackling. The large gravy boat was a joy, none of those tiny gravy pots or a drizzle over the food! We didn't make dessert, we'd fancied the apple and rhubarb crumble, so enjoyed decaff coffee and mints instead. The pub sits facing the village green so good to visit in the summer as well as being cosy indoors when the weather is not as clement. We'll definitely return.

What a great location sitting on the edge of the large village green. As the weather was fine it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the view. We ordered baguettes which came with some salad on the side. The draft beer was limited to Greene King IPA and Sharp's Doom Bar. This would make a nice local pub if we lived in the area.

We had the Sunday Roast the weekend before Christmas and it could not have been better. We were visiting my cousin and took her out as a treat for her birthday and wow how impressed were we with the food. We had the option of roast beef, pork or turkey and we chose the beef and pork, both were cooked to perfection all served with 7 beautifully cooked vegetables and a light and fluffy Yorkshire pudding. The pub was busy with a couple of larger parties and the normal regulars but nothing seemed rushed or overpowering. We didn't have starters but decided that a dessert was in order and my cousin had the apple pie and ice cream and I decided on the cheese board with a shot of port - this was spectacular and served beautifully on a wooden board - there was the shot of port, a selection of crackers, grapes, celery, and pickle and no fewer than a selection of 6 cheeses - definitely a crowd pleaser for a cheese lover like me. all the staff were very attentive and quick to serve plus the food was piping hot. The new owner/management have got the mix here just right, friendly and inviting and good food and value for money ... we just wished we lived closer so we could go more often. Great meal in a great venue, would highly recommend this to anyone.

Our group of 28 visited The Bull, now under the management of Kristina and Rob, and were well looked after. The staff were happy to open at 9.30 for pre-ordering of meals. After our walk in the lovely countryside, we returned at 12.30 and were quickly served drinks and then seated in the separate dining area. The pub has had a makeover and everywhere looks very pleasant. The waiting staff soon brought out the meals and the service was efficient. We hope to return to this pub with our group next year and that other walking groups will be able to use it.

We hadn't been there for years so wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised as they were busy for a Wednesday night but also because they were so welcoming. The menu consisted of good homemade pub classics plus a couple of nice surprises. I had a huge bowl of moules in leek, white wine & garlic served with homemade chips & bread, my husband had the drunken bull pie. All was freshly prepared & served hot! We've visited twice, both in the evening mid-week. Both times the food has been nice and good portion sizes. The chef was very pleasant and helpful. It's just the customer service on the second visit and the general atmosphere that was poor. The first time we were in the restaurant on our own next to the hoover that had been left out and a young child left to run around. The second time we were greeted and served by a very unfriendly man who made us feel we were putting him out by having to serve us. No hello/warm greeting when we walked in - carried on pouring and then drinking his drink until we greeted him. Both visits felt amateurish like the people weren't quite sure what they were doing. Have been put off returning again unfortunately.

What a lovely pub with lovely people and great food. I'm impressed!I recently had Sunday lunch in the pub and I thought the lamb was cooked to perfection. Not too well done but just right. There was so much to go with it I couldn't believe my eyes. I had to take a photo. All the greens, cauliflower cheese and gravy you could wish for and that was just the side dishes. I can't remember exactly how much it was but I do remember it was a bargain!I have also had a couple of their dishes from their usual menu and I was equally as impressed with them also. The plate of moule frite I had the other day was as large as the table itself and I could have eaten it all day. Large portion and delicious. The people that work at the pub are equally as impressive. The chef talks about food with such passion you know he loves what he does. Then there's Ellie who delivers the food with speed and elegance. And James who seems to keep this well oiled machine working brilliantly. What a great team and a great pub. I can not recommend this pub highly enough whether that be for lunch, dinner or even just a drink with some friendly locals.

Well, I wanted a genuine pub experience in the English countryside. The Bull was not it. Reeking of wet carpet and stale beer, the dank environment was littered with Bingo machines and strange waiter mannerisms. The menu looked like a carbon copy of Americana fare and pricing was okay. After being told to order our food from the bar, the offering that arrived was bland and unimaginative. I'm sure there are better options down the road.
