Great home cooked food- burgers were top quality. Really friendly owners who took time to chat. Relaxed atmosphere. We will be back!

Visited after being recommended by my daughter & fiance & Newfoundland dog to find an excellent welcome. Suburb food and drink although it was close to last orders on brunch. No rush or anything. Darren & all were excellent hosts .

Went here with my mum dad and sister highly recommend if I could rate it more I certainly would! Great food and outstanding service!

Most disappointed with our treatment at the Wheel this Saturday. I attended the Wheel to meet my son for lunch and drinks. He was initially refused drinks as the landlord decided that he was drunk. We were eventually served drinks and lunch before being asked to leave. We had both been drinking elsewhere before arriving yet we certainly were not drunk. There are many examples of their customers, etc having had far more to drink than us at the Wheel. Had the landlord listened to anything that I was telling him, he would have realized that my son was actually out of breathe from running to meet me. I am a gentleman in his mid 50's, not a trouble maker nor a stranger. I have supported this pub for many years. I am genuinely concerned for the future of local businesses and always had it in mind to support the Wheel in particular once lockdown had finished. Myself and my family & friends had been their only customers on occasions. I have never been refused service at a pub before. The decision to do so I found most insulting.

Having previously posted positive reports in the past, it’s with great regret I have to post a negative assessment. Popped in for a post shopping drink. Appalled by the decline! Furniture with spilt coverings, excessive litter on the floor and clear damp through the walls. Nothing that originally attracted us to this local pub to entice our return. Apparently under new management. If that’s the case they need to get their act together. Sorry guys! You would be our local of choice if you can get your act together!

The landlord and landlady of this pub are so lovely, whether your a regular or a new face you're made to feel so welcome. Great entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays too.

Visited once again for fantastic food once again i had the chicken in BBQ sauce with bacon and cheese which was outstanding. My son had chicken wrapped in bacon with chilli con carne over the top which is really enjoyed even though it was quite a big portion for him and we ended up taking home some for tea. Would highly recommend.

Met with friends for lunch, prior to visiting Calke Abbey. Our West Highland Terrier was made very welcome. The food menu was freshly cooked and good variety. Certainly drop in again.

The food was amazing I had the hunters chicken which come nicely presented in a separate dish on plate to the chips then a really nice fresh side salad. My 8 year old son had the curry which he really enjoyed and daughter had sausage and chips. Would definitely recommend you pop on and try the food here as all freshly prepared to have to be prepared to wait but worth while. Staff really friendly and welcoming as well which is always a good sign.

The pub relaunched their food menu today after a brief hiatus and I’m happy to say it’s not a minute too soon! Great service, delicious homemade meals and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Couldn’t ask for more!

Gorgeous homemade meals, good value for money and great customer service. We had a chicken curry and a cheese and bacon burger with homemade chips, which can only be described as pub grub at its absolute finest!

Very friendly landlady & bar staff here! Had a meal one night in the week & decided to book for sunday dinner!! Wasn't dissapointed! Everything home made & really good!

Warm and friendly place to have a bite to eat, would recommend, we'll definitely be going back next time we're passing.

If you’re ever down Swadlincote way, check out The Wheel Inn on Burton Road (A511). A lovely local pub with warm and friendly staff. Their home cooked menu is limited but represents excellent value for money, given just how tasty it is! So if your visiting the National Forest Centre at Rosliston or Conkers, the Burton Brewery museum or just passing through, The Wheel Inn is well worth a visit!

We herd that the Wheel was open for meals again after the kitchen fire, so we rang up and booked a table for 3. Good job we did there wasn't many tables free when we got there. The meals are still great value and good just as well as before. Nice to be able to pop in and have a good steak local again.

Lovely Sunday lunch but please book as space is limited. Lovely homely atmosphere withdrawing fire. Good choice of meats and ample portions good priced puddings.

15 of us enjoyed a fantastic value for money meal in this friendly pub. Steaks all very tasty and the whole meal was incredible value for money. Basic pub grub served very well and I'd recommend this to anyone looking for hearty pub grub.

La rueda inn es sin duda mi favorito ir al pub. Paul y Nicola el propietario y la dueña son muy acogedor a todos sus clientes si son clientes habituales o nuevos. Son muy atentos a todas sus necesidades y van más allá para todos sus clientes. Todo su personal son también muy servicial y amable y también va más allá de satisfacer cualquier necesidad.

Nos recibió un personal amable y acogedor a su llegada. El ambiente era cálido y confortable. Había una cantidad adecuada de opciones en el menú que estaban para mi gusto. La comida en general era de buena calidad, mi único problema era que las patatas fritas que recibimos hecha. Me pareció que este establecimiento de una buena relación calidad-precio y volveremos de nuevo.

La rueda es nuestro pub y nuestro lugar de elección cuando estamos de pie. Siempre una cálida bienvenida por parte de todo el personal y dueños, Paul y Nicola, el pub tiene un ambiente agradable y acogedor para todo el mundo, tanto si son locales o simplemente de paso.

We have eaten at The Wheel a couple of times this year and can't fault the food. Steaks cooked exactly as you've asked for them and portion sizes are great value for money. All served with a friendly smile. Hoping to go back soon!

We wet here for food after being recommend by a friend and have since been back a few times. The food is lovely and home cooked, and the wheely burger is amazing!!! Staff are really friendly and welcoming, would defiantly recommend to people who want nice food at a good price at a local pud.

We boked a table for 2 on bank holiday Monday for 730 PM, we arrived a little early but our table was ready for us and the staff were very pleasant. We ordered shortly after and after about 20 minuet's the chief came over to us and explained she had run out of something but would not be too long which we thought was quite nice. (it also gave me a chance to try another pedigree) I had surf and turf and the steak was cooked to my liking and the wife had a gammon steak which also was cooked to her liking. All in all it was a very good meal and reasonably priced, we will be returning.

We decided to visit the Wheel Inn for the first time late on a Saturday afternoon. Thinking it should be easy enough to get a seat for that evening.We arrived about 7pm and the place was buzzing. We were so lucky to get a table for four. So booking is advisable.A lovely quaint pub, beams and low ceilings, and outdoor seating. We ordered our food, plenty of choice, which was freshly cooked. I had a mixed grill, i must say it was the best mixed grill that I have ever had. The prices were extremely reasonable as well. Service was second to none. I do have one regret, that we hadn't been sooner. Many thanks to all the staff.

Stopped on way home with friends we all had a Sunday roast its one of the best homemade roast, had for along time will be calling I again to try other homemade food.Was worth waiting a little extra for it to be cooked.

Have had another great experience here I have been here's several times now with my husband and parents, as usual the hunters chicken and gammon were cooked to perfection. We always get a friendly service from the owners. Well worth a visit.

We came for Sunday lunch. I found it quite impressive that absolutely nothing on the plate had any flavour whatsoever.... the veg was sloppy, the gravy a strange beige colour and the only saving grace was the homemade Yorkshire pudding which was lovely.I understand they were busy but it took more than 15 minutes to be served at the bar, we couldn't even sit down as we didn't know where had been reserved for us. The wait was partly due to the fact that pensioners push in at the bar to order their meals before anyone who was actually there first and the bar staff serve them regardless.I'm sure the meals suit the older clientele as I required a lot of salt, pepper and horseradish sauce to even get any sense of flavour on the plate. There was little texture as it was all soft and overcooked too. The staff were very friendly and couldn't stop apologising for the 45 minute wait for food (we didn't mind, we could see they were busy - we both work in a pub/restaurant ourselves and were on a rare Sunday off) so that's why I haven't given 1*. The waiter was working his socks off and was still pleasant and friendly. I wouldn't rule out trying it again one time as I'm all for homemade food and independent pubs and businesses as opposed to chains but unfortunately I wouldn't have Sunday lunch there again.

Lovely landlord and landlady, so friendly. The service was fantastic and food excellent, hot and delivered with a smile. Having recently moved to the area we were looking for places to regularly go to, this will be top and of our list.

Came again last night for my brother-in-law's girlfriend's birthday. 9 of us for family meal. Lovely, reserved area with plenty of room. I had steak and chips again as it's always amazing. And it was again. Also enjoyed chicken goujons for starter this time. Friendly pub with great service and food.

Used to go here about 7 years ago every weekend and loved it. Not been for years though, when we went the menu I thought was basic a d good prices. When my food came after a reasonable waiting time. It was piping hot, and o my days the best chips I've had in forever. So worth the wait. Lovely home cooked fresh food. Worth the wait. So much I returned less than a week later for the food. My new fav place to eat. Can't recommend enough

The usual type of basic pub fare. Good value for money, food OK but a little lacking in imagination.

Always outstanding food, great staff pleasent,and helpful, made very welcome, would highly recommend.

Called in on sunday lunch with the family and it was superb,looking forward to calling in again soon,excellent sunday roast and the kids loved there dinners and puddings.

We visited three times in December all of which were pleasant. The menu is compact but adequate, the services really good. My wife had the pies, which are home made and excellent. The fries/chips are lovely, as is the surf and turf which I sampled. The burger is one of the best I have tasted. Good value for money ,£55 average spend for two couples with a welcoming atmosphere. Well worth a stop if you are local or just passing through .

Food not fab fish over fried and too crispy but ok place for a drink. Clean and tidy. Not a lot on menu and advertised as home made but fish was a frozen portion chips may have been hand cut but we're OK.

We visited for Sunday lunch.....they were really friendly and welcoming. Great little pub.My hubby ate all of his but I really struggled, we would have been happier with the option of a smaller portion or even better the veg in dishes to help ourselves. It tends to put me off a little to have a plate piled with food. However that is not a complaint to you Nicola and Paul, just an idea to bear in mind for the future. We did have apple pie which was really nice. We will visit again, my parents ran pubs for over 40 years so I know it's hard work. Keep it up guys you have a lovely little pub. We had struggled to decide where to take my elderly parents for Sunday lunch and we thought we would try somewhere local. The welcome we received was wonderful. Even though they were busy a table was quickly sorted for us. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. My mother never completely clears her plate but not only did she finish her main course she had a dessert as well. We were also more than happy with the price. This will be one that we will definitely return to.

The food here is wonderful and really is home made!! Staff are extremely helpful and polite, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended and will be going back again!!!

People of Swadlincote you are extremely lucky to have this fabby gastropub on your doorstep. Super home made food and hand cut chips, very rare these days! The lasagne and the fish and chips recommended, super food at very reasonable prices, a gem. Tracy and Nicola please move south to West Sussex, I'd be a regular!

Have been wanting to try The Wheel Inn for a while now and glad we did. Very comfortable, relaxed surroundings. Staff so welcoming and friendly. Great service. Good, honest food, cooked well. Can't fault it.

We love visiting here and our latest visit was for a group of 10 - from our primary school niece and nephew up to Grandma and Granddad in their 80's everyone had a good time and felt welcomed - The food is always good.

Came here for second visit the other day for a family lunch. Great steak and chips. ..love the homemade chips. Nice atmosphere and great service.

For a great country pub with fantastic food.. (homemade chips and homemade pies are to die for!!!)...this is the place to visit!! welcoming, child and dog friendly, and on a good look around..such a mixed arrangement of folk..older, younger, families, couples etc.Beautiful views and a great large open space garden.Will definitely be visiting again!!!

This is good, fresh home cooked food at a very reasonable price. We've eaten at night here and also had a great Sunday lunch. Will definitely be back

As a regular to the wheel i can honestly say I have never had a bad meal or experience here.the food is cooked fresh all the time and is always piping hot when served.With the meals that are served with chips they are proper hand cooked and not frozen out of a bag,like other places do.the staff are welcoming and friendly,if you want a decent family place to go for a meal and a few drinks,look no further than the wheel inn.

Went for a meal with my friend and we both had steak, meals were lovely and steak was done to perfection the staff are very friendly and felt right at home will definitely be visiting more often

went in for meal the female chef was in bar with a dirty top not a good omen, asked for prawn cocktail arrived swimming in paprika very hard white bread bun could not bite into, asked for medium to well done steak got rare bleeding steak which really put me off so had beef pie which was very hot with chilli and chips were rock hard i guess pre cooked as stale, the bar staff were very friendly sadly not a meal i want to remember

Called in during midweek with the wife and 3 year old son and was very impressed with the food and overall impression was that the place is being run very well and looking forward to going back asap.

Went to the beer garden as was nice sunny evening, ordered food which was average for the price we paid .. Could do with better seating outside was bit u comfy. Staff were pleasant too .

First time I'd been here for food. Had a great evening with my partner and his parents for his birthday. Perfectly cooked steak with amazing home- cooked chips. Followed by a lovely chocolate fudge cake and ice cream! Not much of a beer drinker -well not at all, but according to my father-in-law it is a brilliant pub for beer. So will be recommending it to my dad also.We sat by the open fire and was just a great atmosphere. Very diligent service also. Pub food that goes the extra mile!

The Wheel Inn is my local, not a big drinker but I do go from time to time with my Partner (He goes to the pub a lot more then me with his work friends).I have never had a bad thing to say about the pub, it is always clean and you get excellent service. Being a regular, we are able to have a laugh with the pub landlords as they know us really well and know what we are like.The food is FANTASTIC (Many praises to Nicola who does most of the cooking herself!)I would definitely recommend this pub/restaurant to anybody that is wanted a decent beverage and some fantastic food.

Here nearly every day. Staff friendly, food good and excellent beer. What more do you want from a pub? Would recommend to those of you looking for somewhere for a bit of r and r.

The Wheel Inn is a country pub on the outskirts or Burton upon Trent, they seve good quality food at good prices. A small menu but everything home cooked, but smaal and good rather than a large menu microwave cooked! All freshly cooked by the Landlady, home made chips!!Service was good the surroundings clean and bright, toilets superb!On the hole agood pub with good food and good cask ales, well done to the landlord and landlady

Lovely local pub. All the staff are friendly, polite and welcoming. The food tastes great with a great choice from the menu, the hunters chicken is a must if you visit it's the best hunters chicken I've ever had. Drinks are a very reasonable price. Sunday lunches are also fantastic value for money. Keep up the good work guys!
