Great value for money food with a very good choice . The cheesy garlic bread is the best I've had anywhere and a great price. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The beers are very good and well kept

Homely pub,good food and service with a smile

I read reviews of the pub and a lot of people seem to not like the idea of the locals!! This is a locals pub, it’s where people go and drink, watch sport, eat, chat, dance. It’s normally busy, it has attentive staff, and people will love to talk to you. It’s a real pub, not a gastro/bistro/restaurant. If it not to your liking that doesn’t mean you should score it lower, just try across the road!! I love it.

Popped in today off the cusp as we were passing. Decided to have some lunch but they limit the menu on Sunday to light bites and the Sunday roast with a choice of beef or pork. Let me tell you now, DON'T let that put you off as I have to say it was the best pork roast dinner I have ever had in a pub! £9.70 and included any sauces and cauliflower cheese! Served hot with nice thick gravy. Most places will charge an extra £3 for cauliflower cheese. Will definitely be back 💯%!!!

Staying nearby at mercia Marina, been in the Green man a few times, and enjoyed every visit.

We stopped for a drink after a long walk along the canal. It has a pleasant atmosphere with friendly bar staff. We didn't have food as we had other plans but their menu looked good. Will call back again if we are in the area.

Brought here by my In-laws for lunch. The place was clean and very friendly. Food options plentiful and prices were keen. Food was presented nicely and was a delight to the taste buds. Service was excellent and waiting time for food was very reasonable. It’s worth noting that they are dog friendly and you can get free refills of coffee !! This pub is a real find and we’ll be back again soon. Not in the options below are the chicken, ham hock and leek pie which was full and delicious and the mac n cheese was plentiful with the garlic bread making it perfect.

We went for Sunday lunch for the first time yesterday and it was excellent! Two meat choices and a vegetarian option. Very reasonably price and the portions were huge and extremely tasty. The best Sunday lunch option in the village. The beer choices are good too!

Visited The Green Man while cruising through Willington on our narrowboat and met with friends for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, plenty of it, good quality and for a good price. Happy with the choice of drinks on offer. We will definitely visit The Green Man again next time we visit Willington and would recommend this pub for Sunday lunch. Spacious and dog friendly,

We have eaten in this pub before and always enjoyed the meals we have had but today was the first time we have been for a Sunday roast. The roast was delicious and there was plenty of it too. We booked which I think is probably pretty essential as it gets quite busy. A lovely pub.

Sat here after a fantastic sunday lunch, i can highly recommend it but you need to book in advance as you can imagine it gets busy

Exemplary place ,parking area bit small,but staff were helpful and freindly, food was just excellent, prices were brilliant family of 4 had drinks ,main meals 2 for £16 and dessert our bill was £68 wish we found this place earlier as we were on holiday will definitely recommend this place 😀

Five real ales. Beer garden at the back was a reasonable size and had a roofed over area. Some seats out the front are close to the road. Another pub directly opposite if you needed.

Went midweek to take advantage of the two meals for £16.50. I had the vegan curry and my husband the cheese and bacon burger. The quality and amount of food for the price was outstanding. The pub was clean and comfortable. The lady serving behind the bar and all the food, seemed to be on her own, but she was in control, friendly and helpful. Good drinks selection. Will definitely be back.

Me and friends called in over the Bank Holiday weekend, we had a lovely time in Willington, the Green Man was busy, really nice feel to it, welcoming and friendly staff, this is our second visit to the area and we enjoyed the locals celebrating the footy score! Every one was friendly, food was lovely! Worth a pit stop on you pub crawl.

Its a nice looking place and the drink selection is ok , but beware.. This is a local pub..for local people! It definately has that " League of gentlemen " vibe ! Good luck squeezing past the obnoxious locals who clut the entire bar and look at you asthough you've farted just because you'd like to actually access the bar to get a drink. Not unlike the Slaughtered Lamb pub from the film American Werewolf In London ." You made me miss… I've never missed that board before…”. " Beware the moon lads ! "

We booked Green Man for lunch after a canal walk. They easily accommodated 8 of us and we were very pleasantly surprised at the size of the pub, the atmosphere, cleanliness and very warm welcome we received. We all ordered different meals which arrived at the same time and the quality and portion size was amazing. Both food and drink was an affordable price, needless to say, we will be returning very soon.

We rarely eat out since our daughter has developed food allergies. Its too risky and many places sadly do not take allergies seriously. She has ended up in resus before, so it was important for us to have all the knowledge we could have before we ate. Sian was amazing, providing us with all the information we needed via email, prior to coming. All 5 of us enjoyed our meal. It was delicious. Atmosphere great. Absolutely perfect from start to finish. Thankyou so much!

Decided to pop into the Green Man for some lunch. Went in to see every single table reserved for 3.00pm. The time I was there was 12.30pm. I asked if they had any tables to be told no they are all reserved. I explained that we would only be 45mins and be gone but she would t have it. No explanation! Think you will only be welcome in this establishment if you are a local! Won’t be going again. Very unwelcoming atmosphere!

As far as the pub goes, yes, I'd return without question. The choice of beers wasn't massive, but food wise, it was busy, which is a good indicator.

Went into to simply grab a takeaway coffee, the older women out of the two had new interpersonal skills, nor an attitude when asked her for drop of milk, simply wasn't given correct size lid, and other girl who was alot more helpful was alot mre profession, older lady had an attitude problem, by saying well , like i'm all by myself, and something you need to wait, serious stupid attiude prob, wouldn't recommend this place full STOP but well done to younger she was alot better

Absolutly amazing staff, we were refunded for the kids meal, we were accidently charged for it, but we hadn't even noticed, they came over to our table to tell us (very honest of them). The bar staff Chloe, was lovely, she bought our 4yr old over an icecream, made his day. A lady called Val sat at a nearby table, she was so kind, we didn't realise she was staff as she wasn't on shift, yet she still helped us. I will definately be a returning customer. Just a wonderful kind place to eat with our little boy. We would definately recommend to everyone. Thank you so much for such a lovely warm welcome and atmosphere 😊

My partner & I called for lunch, he had fish & chips ( not at all greasy), I had the freshest salad with steak cooked to perfection....both for £15.00, thankyou. Barman/ server deserves credit too.

Lovely local pub offering real ales fair priced food

Went for a family meal 6 adults and 4 dogs on a night when an important football match was on. Lively atmosphere, very busy. The staff were amazing, service was prompt and friendly, good was fantastic and prices very competitive.

I attended a wake here, and the staff were amazing. The range of 0% alcohol was brilliant, and the food was out of this world. X

Lovely Sunday roast. Hot plates,hot food and good service all at a very good price.

We had a midweek evening meal here with an offer of 2 meals for the price of one. Some of the pints of beer were also on offer. We had meals, a bacon burger and chips, scampi and chips, one and a half pints of draught beer, all for £15. The food and service was excellent.

We walked from the marina for lunch before the storm was due. I had chicken, ham hock and leek pie with mash, peas, green beans and lashings of gravy. It was delicious and hot. I then had apple crumble and custard for dessert, and that too was delicious. Plenty of crumble and plenty of custard. The lady behind the bar took our orders for both drink and food. She then waited on our table, bringing the food when the kitchen signalled with a door bell. This lady worked tirelessly and barely stopped the whole time we were there, so we left her a tip. Personally, I couldn't fault this place. Excellent service and great value, tasty food.

Love this pub. Very tidy new looking upholstery inside and comfy seating. Has the proper local village pub feel to it and many friendly locals to make you feel welcome. Reasonably priced beers and Ales too. Never tried the food but the menu does look great. Only thing missing really is a log burning stove and the oak beams would be more inviting if painted black instead of white but doesn't deter the homely cosiness this pub has to offer. Well recommended for a visit if you're in Willington.

Good local pub.. sports screens if that's your thing. Good selection of ales. I Didn't have foo, but what was coming ou of the kitchen looked nice.

Nice pub, good food and friendly staff. Some seriously loud and obnoxious regulars with noisy dogs who are clearly welcomed. Staff ought to discourage behaviour like that for others to feel more at ease!

Great service on a busy World Cup night. Fairly standard pub fare but some good offers. We had the 2 main courses for £15 which was great value. Well organised kitchen and friendly bar staff. Much better than similar chain restaurants. Nice local vibe too.
