Excellent tea room. We sat in the lovely garden and enjoyed an absolutely lovely Ploughman’s lunch for £7.20, which included lovely homemade runner bean chutney. The food is excellent value for money, with waitress service. Just remember to take cash as the only way of paying. EXCELLENT

Wonderful friendly service, from the man who has lived here all of his life. The garden is stunning and full of beautiful flowers and such a pleasure to sit in. The cream tea, with classic retro cups and saucers, was so well presented, with lashings of jam and clotted cream. The scones were very fresh and warm. The lemon drizzle cake, homemade and just perfect. Big pot of hot water provided to top up our teapot for lots of extra cups of tea. This was so welcomed after a long and magical walk through Hornee Woods.

Beautiful setting, delicious home made scones, lovely retro China, dog and family friendly - what more could you want? Simple menu but everything is either home made or great quality. The runner bean pickle (with the ploughman's and savoury cream tea) is a secret local recipe and really good... Cash only, the original and BEST Horner cream tea. You won't be dissapointed.

The owner was very welcoming and took the time to have a chat with us. The ploughman's lunch was delicious and very good value. Portions of cheese and ham were generous. Home made chutney was delicious. Decent cup of coffee which is not always the case at similar establishments. Friendly and efficient service. It was sunny, bit breezy, but we sat in sheltered position at the side where we could admire the well-tended borders. Beautiful flowers and hanging baskets all add to the charm of this lovely place. It was like eating in an exhibit at Chelsea! It was such a lovely experience that we stayed much longer than anticipated and will definitely return.

We usually go to the Horner Tea Garden further up the hill, but it had just closed (4.30 on a Saturday afternoon). We were welcomed by the friendly owner at Horner Vale, and were served delicious home made scones with plenty of cream and jam. The owner accepts cash only. This is a lower key establishment than the larger Horner Tea Garden, but we think the quality is better and the portions more generous. The garden is beautiful

Sadly thought this was the dog friendly tearoom with dog biscuits - it wasnt! Had a cream tea here anyway. Scones not quite as I'd hoped but good cup of tea with plenty of extra hot water at no request. Generous dollop of clotted cream & jam. Asked for a paper napkin & was told where they were to go & get one?! Should have more charm as its situated in the most beautiful setting. One rather sorry bowl of dog water for all its canine visitors. Didnt feel as welcome as the tearoom round the corner where I visited on the second walk.

We visited Horner Vale tea garden on Tuesday. We’ve been many times, it has my favourite view of all. But also it needs to be said and shouted out loud. Janet provides only home baked food, including gluten free!! Being able to have a cream tea along with friends is magic! The ploughman’s are made with fresh salad, often from their own gardens. Home baked ham! Green bean chutney! What’s not to like. Fabulous, well done Janet

This is a hidden gem of a tea room, tucked away next to a National Trust car park in Horner, south of Porlock. A wonderful selection of fresh home-produce, and a welcoming smile. You can sit outside under shelter, or go indoors to warm by the fire. An absolute treasure.

I've been here twice in the past two days with two different walking groups and lived it both times - especially at the end of 9 mile walks.... They do lovely cakes and scones (I can vouch for the cheese scones and the lemon drizzle cake personally - both delicious) and the garden is delightful and beautifully cared-for. Plenty of other people there too, even though the weather had been decidedly mixed, so it's clearly deservedly well-known. And there's an attractive covered eating area too looking straight out onto the garden, for when it really is wet. A nice little place, and a good one to back to.

Having grown up in nearby Porlock & returning each summer to stay with family we ALWAYS walk over to Horner & visit Janet & her team for a cream tea. This place isn't trying to be trendy or cool, but if you want a lovely, lovingly made lunch or cream tea in the utterly beautiful surroundings of Horner valley then this is the place for you. From the river babbling away nearby to the ancient woodland stretching off into the distance of Exmoor, with a buzzard gliding above in the open sky, and a lovely cottage garden all around you, there are few places better to get stuck into a big fat scone with cream & jam. 'Proper job' as we say in Somerset!

How disappointed we were to be told that the tearooms had closed for the day At 2.45 today Monday 11th April, as they had no customers. The sign in the car park read that it was open (this was half an hour after they closed) What a wasted journey at least the other 2 couples we bumped into in the car park who had also come for refreshments were also disappointed but we went to Porlock all 6 of us and were welcomed with open arms for cream teas lesson learnt.

There are two tea rooms very close together the reason we chose this one is firstly the other one was very busy and there were dogs already in the garden of this tea room so we knew our dog would be welcome. We sat in their garden with the wonderful scent of flowers. We ordered cake and coffee. The cake was nice something our gran would have made with hundred and thousands on top of the chocolate cake and served in cups she would have had, as well as a pot of coffee. We had two slices of cake and got about 4 cups of coffee out of the pot for just over £5.00 so excellent value for money.
