Really nice coffee suited my palate.

A wonderful cafe and gift shop. Ten of us arrived unannounced on a Thursday morning for lunch and tables were immediately rearranged by Mike to accommodate us all together, this was followed by great service also from Mike. The excellent selection of food was all delicious and all plates for two courses were emptied. After our visit we all commented on the lovely atmosphere and how welcome we had been made to feel. We also purchased from the gift shop and even when I had a small issue with a purchase it was immediately exchanged for me without question. This family run business is a real asset to the village so why not give it a try. We will certainly be back when we are next in the area. Score 10/10. Thank you Mike and Family.

I was made to feel extremely unwelcome as I requested to charge a laptop (for a very short stay) and to use the WiFi. The gentleman made me feel like I was a huge inconvenience and not like I was a customer at all.

Great atmosphere , pleasant and obliging staff and super efficient service, good coffee. A very pleasant place to while away some time while visiting Dulverton.

Outstanding espresso. Aromatic, looks gorgeous in the cup. Sweet, sour and fruity all at once. Texture! Oh, oh! Whichever of the boys made it needs to be on the map of England. Am I being over enthusiastic? You need to try it and put the heat on this guy. I don't remember anything else.

We had a lovely lunch, the staff were great and efficient even though it was busy.

Staff are lovely and welcoming. The shop is gorgeous, full of lots of beautiful gifts and a great selection of cards for all occasions! Haven't eaten in the café but the Chai Latte with cinnamon is one of the best I've had, so much so that I get one every time I visit Dulverton. 10/10 will continue to visit whenever I'm in the area.

A super find in Dulverton on Exmoor. A well run cafe and shop with a great menu. Quality coffee and the Croc monsieur special was very good. Fantastic service and nothing was a problem to them...including my parking outside. The shop is filled with lots of local goods from cards to beer. An excellent experience all round.

Oh wow I think that might be the best toasty with Bacon I've ever had. Thick and tasty bacon from the local butcher was an absolute delight. We will come again for that treat,

This is a really nice place to sit and chill and enjoy a good meal or a tea and coffee, the Hot Chocolate and Baileys is a must and the staff are amazing

Popped in while at Dulverton by Star was on. An excellent location for a coffee or hot chocolate plus a Christmas flapjack, which was amazing. Excellent owner and a fantastic business in Exmoor

Gorgeous quaint little shop with sweet cafe. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Dogs allowed!! Vegan and gluten free options (suitable for celiac disease). Food was delicious. One of the best Cafe experiences I've had in several years!!!

We went in for lunch on Thursday as we were in the local area. The service for lunch was great. We had the had the ham and cheese salads. They were a good sixe and tasty. Then we went to the shop and tried a couple of balsamic vinegar and then brought several. But we then asked if there was anywhere local that had a specific rum we wanted to try before got any. The gentleman behind the counter (sorry I didn't get your name) then asked a couple of the staff thalso worked in a local pub they did not do it then he phoned a couple of pubs for us. Then, when we walked past the shop again, he came out with the number for the distillery number that he had rung to find out where local had that specific drink we wanted to try. Would definitely recommend if you are around Dulverton, excellent service, selection of gifts and food. 10/10 Thank you

On the final day of our Family holiday we stopped for a bite to eat and a little look around this excellent shop. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. We spent a small fortune but it was well worth it to support such a superb local business.

We stopped for lunch in Dulverton today and discovered this gem! Beautiful food, wonderful service from the warm and personable staff and a gorgeous range of gifts to browse. Highly recommend you pop in. Just magical!

Probably the rudest people I have ever met... we are local and come in regularly but today again the staff/owners concept of manners is no existent. We will never return.... good luck with tourist trade as I'm sure your regular trade will disappear shortly...

We loved the look of the place and the waiting staff were good. The front of house/shop staff couldn't have cared less when we asked her whether the place is dog-friendly. Unfortunately the food itself was a major disappointment. We ordered two different things and neither was up to standard.

If you pass through the shop full of food, gifts and cards you’ll reach the cafe at the back. It was busy when we arrived but the guy squeezed 5 of us in without difficulty. We were served quickly and both the tea and the cappuccinos were lovely.

This cafe used to be cozy, welcoming and good value but now it is too formal and officious for a shop cafe. You now have to wait to seated and be served. The outside area is now padlocked too so no access from the side street. There was no ambience and poor choice. It is no wonder not many people were there - more staff than customers! Food was okay but overpriced and basic. A great shame because it was one of our favourite stop offs in Dulverton.

Best coffee around, spot on service

Stop here for a quick lunch while passing through. Food was very nice and well priced. The brothers that ran the place were brilliant hosts, very warm friendly atmosphere. Really enjoyed our time here, will be back next time we visit exmoor.

It's a joy to shop in this shop and cafe! Lovely gifts, cards and food in the shop and then go to be seated in the cafe at the rear. I chose a delicious spinach and lentil dal soup for £6.50 and it came very quickly with lovely bread. A strong decaf coffee was not a problem (it seems to really stump some place) and I would have liked a cake but didn't want to make my after-lunch walk too difficult. What really sets The Tantivy apart from other places is the outstanding customer service. The lady in the shop (who I think may have been new) was friendly; the man dashing between shop and cafe was super-efficient and cheery despite there being a little flurry of customers; the chef plainly knew his stuff. I'm going to save the best till last though. The waitress was just a joy to watch! Friendly and fast she worked the room like an absolute professional, stopping to chat with regulars but giving equal time to people like me just passing through. She shone with positivity and dropped compliments to everyone around her. We don't give enough credit in this country to the hospitality industry, possibly because you don't often see it being done this well. The Tantivy made my trip to Dulverton a really happy and positive experience! Thank you.

Have been going here for quite a few years when we lived in the area. Now we have moved away we like to visit when we can and still it serves delicious coffee and very tasty bacon sandwiches.

Lovely staff but the food was a bit underwhelming.

We called into Tantivy ad they had a garden area out back, having a dog it's always a good option. We was quite a large group, two family's totaling seven. We was always made extremely welcome and food was always great. Drinks and cakes with large selection. Milk shakes made with ice cream, sanwiche's made with fresh baked bread, And quality meats. The shop itself has a huge selection of produce. Papers, magazines. Gifts, jams , salad dressings , take out pastys. Such a large selection of everything. I also particularly liked the fact that they sell the same brand of crokery they use to serve food and drinks in the shop. You realy get the feeling of a freindly place to be. Thank you all who work there for providing us with a great experience. Dogs are also allowed inside which also has a large seating area.

Despite being open I was quite aggressively told there were no hot drinks available for at least half an hour. I didn’t feel like waiting …… 😕

Went to Dulverton just to have a look around as we had driven through a few times. Needed a bite to eat and a coffee and this was the first place we came to across the road from the main car park. Very lovely staff, small little outdoor area for seating. Good selection of cold food and drinks. Cream tea provided (it was good, scones warmed, quite thick and dense and very crumbly). Reasonable price for everything, clean and tidy, dog friendly. I ordered a few cakes to take-away which they were happy to cater for. The shop is a lovely little gem too with plenty to keep your attention and tempt your wallet out.

As always a friendly welcome, great service and excellent food and coffee at The Tantivy today. Bacon sandwiches are fantastic and the coffee is exceptional. If you have got room, the cakes are amazing.

Amazing place. Newsagent, gift shop and fantastic café. Had a fabulous coffee in this unique café, also they offer a loyalty card. Worth an extra trip to Dulverton just for the coffee!

Food and coffee is good but was disappointed that they don't do a full breakfast. Only reason for 4 stars is that we asked the young waitress if they do a full breakfast and was told .... its not on the menu so we don't do it!! .... felt very stupid for asking the question. Not the correct response in my view.

Loved it. My partner who has some complex dietary needs was well catered for.

My husband and I popped in for a coffee and cake last week whilst on holiday in Exmoor.. We had a very pleasant experience, the cakes were amazing, the drinks were also very good.. The guys who ran the cafe/bistro were very welcoming, efficient and friendly. We would highly recommend dropping in for a treat.

Always worth a visit - food and coffee is amazing and the service is outstanding. The service throughout the shop is always friendly and welcoming and Mike always makes you feel welcome. A pity reading other reviews people are so short sighted and as a local I'd suggest they stay away if being asked politely what you would like to drink or pay first offends you so much! Hot chocolate, west country rarebit and pasties are all highly recommended.

Stopped in while on a weekend away for some well earned coffee and cake and so very pleased we did, as not only was the coffee excellent, the cakes completely delicious, but I have to say the waiter who served us was just super friendly and helpful, he made us feel right at home. We loved it so much we went back the next day and had to have more. I cannot recommend The Tantivy enough both for the delicious delights on offer, but also for the friendly staff who were perfect. Also have to mention the shop, which has everything you could ever need all in one place, easily the best shop in Dulverton. We will be back!

We came to The Tantivy for years as holiday makers before we moved to Dulverton two years ago. It has always held a special place in our hearts, then as it goes now. The food has always been delicious and the service from Emily, Mike and the team has always come with a smile that’s absolutely guaranteed to brighten our day. An absolute gem in Exmoor that has been visited by generations of our family. Couldn’t rate highly enough…❤️. xxx
