Brilliant service, lovley cooked fresh fish a and gluten free

Smart, very professionally run fish and chip shop, with takeaway and table service. We opted for the latter and enjoyed excellent quality meals, superbly cooked and presented, all such a refreshing change from the mundane offerings of so many of the outlets in Minehead. Fish and chips, and battered sausage and chips exactly as they should be - absolutely delicious.

They won a Tripadvisor award - I can see why! I had regular cod and chips. It was faultless, lovely tasty fleshy fish, crispy batter and lovely chips all perfectly cooked (while I waited) generous size, less expensive than most, very clean premises, Polite and friendly staff. Only negative is it’s in Minehead and not near where I live!

Excellent fish and chips and reasonably priced. Very friendly service. it's not immediately obvious but there is a seated area to the rear.

I do like my fish and chips, and this one caught (sorry!) my eye. I was not disappointed. I decided, as I have a physical disability, to sit in the restaurant inside. I was quickly given a menu by one of the staff and ordered at the counter a Regular F&C plus a generous sachet of tartar sauce. I have to say that the fish was a generous 10" portion, so what size would a Large one have been? I found the restaurant to be clean as was the, er, 'facilities' (signage to it poor though, as it was slightly hidden away at the rear: see Fire Exit!). Staff were pleasant, attentive and swift. The fact that the plaice, sorry, I mean place was quite busy, spoke volumes about its popularity for both locals and tourists. It is convenient for the railway station, being only about 100 yds. from it along the main road (The Avenue), at right angles to the Promenade.

Absolutely top tier chippy! We wanted a seat whilst we ate, and there is a lovely little seating area in the back. We all had large cod and chips. The fish was perfectly battered and cooked, and of excellent quality. The chips were crispy but also fluffy! Absolutely bang on. Thank you!

We ordered large cod & chips and sat in the restaurant to eat them, and they were lovely. The restaurant was nice and clean. The staff were nice enough, not particularly friendly. When we return to Minehead, we'd definitely return if we fancy fish & chips.

There are many fish and chip shops locally and on a day visit to Minehead we happened to drop into The Cod Shop. Outside seating was available. We had two excellent meals, piping hot and quick service even though they were busy. I would highly recommend them.

We had the best fish and chips from The Cod Shop on Saturday evening. We weren’t that hungry so had two small cod and one chips, still plenty for two. The cod was excellent, very fresh with light crispy batter. The chips too were excellent, not the usual greasy mush you get from some chippies! Will definitely return on our next visit to Minehead.

Walking up down The Avenue, there were a few choices, but in the end we went to The Cod Shop. It would have been nice to sit outside, but it had started to rain, so we sat inside. It was a really nice decor inside, there was a blue and white seaside theme throughout the restaurant. I thought it was really nice calming environment. Took a table and looked over the menu. It was lunchtime, and I wasn't overtly hungry (having just spent two hours sitting on a train) I went with the small cod special. This was a small cod, chips, a side, a dip, and a drink. I had mushy peas and mayonnaise with my cod. It wasn't long before our food arrived. The cod had a lovely crisp batter, and the fish was well cooked. The chips were a little underdone for me.

People that know how to cook good fish and chips. Passing with our two dogs we popped in to see what this place was like. Sat outside with dogs and we ordered at counter. Very friendly and knowledgable ( owners ) I think. I had GF code and chips, partner sausage chips and curry sauce. All served at the table Fresh crispy batter, hots and crispy chip Epic food Spotless toilets. Inside was spotless and nothing smelt other than freshly cooked food.

Went here on way back from our holiday ( so travelling back home ). Me and my partner have had alot of rubbish food in Devon lately especially fish. But coming across this little gem was the best thing ever. Small fish & chips, curry sauce and large haddock, chip curry sauce.. the food was absolutely spot on and good value.. would recommend anyone to try this place. Plus the staff were happy and very helpful.. 10 out 10 for us.. Will be back soon for defo.. thanks again

Having need of a wash room following a deposit from a seagull the man behind the counter pointed my husband happily in the right direction. (All toilets were closed) We then ate there. The meal was served to us outside. The cod was boneless and skinless and the chips cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely delicious fish, batter and chips with fast service. The portions were modest...but it was still too much to eat. The place was absolutely spotless too. The only annoying aspect was paying for ketchup but actually, putting ketchup on that fish was a mistake. It was too good to smother.

Guy worked very hard and as fast as he could, and the chef helped out taking orders. They could have done with a third person on this busy Saturday afternoon. I don't quite understand or appreciate lemon wedges only being given to "regulars". Highly recommended and would love to visit again. Well done.

Picked up medium cod, pie and chips to eat down at the sea front. Shop was nice and clean. But, the person frying was very rude to staff in front of myself, a customer. Bit embarrassing. When opening our food, the chips were nice, but the fish was soo small, it was about 3 ins wide an 6 ins long, if your lucky. I would say that's a pensioners or child portion. Oh and a curry sauce, which again was nice. That came to nearly £12. Which I think was rather expensive. WILL NOT BE RETURNING
