The best restaurants serving British food in England

Was excited to visit after all the hype. Drinks were nice, but we found the cakes quite dry (could not be finished as they were too dry).

The seafood at this family run restaurant was fantastic. We will definitely try to come here again when we come back to Newquay.

I booked an afternoon tea for my mums birthday and the staff in the Brasserie could not do enough for us. We had a lovely view of the gardens and sea, while eating our afternoon tea. The scones were super light and the sandwiches lovely. We couldn't manage to eat all the cakes so the staff happily supplied boxes for us to take them home. My mum and I really enjoyed ourselves. Always lovely baked products and cakes. Always lots of nice sliced meat for sandwiches and butchery dept meats are always delicious

Lovely pub, lovely girl serving us. We had the Sunday roast beef dinner. Sirloin was tough to cut and eat, brisket was tender. We had a lager and a large glass of white wine (on the menu it was 125ml, 175ml, or a bottle) so would assume 175ml was a large. When the bill came we were charged for 2 small glasses of wine and when we asked were told that's how they charge for a large glass which totalled £10.50 for one glass of wine (which definitely wasn't 250ml of wine!). We had to speak to 2 people to query it then were told to speak to the manager. In the end we were grudgingly charged for a 175ml glass of wine. We left with a bad feeling, ruined our Sunday lunch.

Brilliant little pub/restaurant that serves delicious 😋 food. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We have been coming here for years and highly recommend it to everyone.

Comí este restaurante con mi amigo para celebrar nuestros cumpleaños. El restaurante ofrecía un menú degustación halal, así que opté por eso... ¡no fue decepcionante! El pollo frito, el pez monje y el cordero fueron particularmente memorables. Terminamos nuestro menú degustación con un chocolate especial de ladrillo rojo que representa un área histórica en Birmingham. El personal también nos dio algunos mini cupcakes para celebrar nuestro cumpleaños. Este restaurante tiene de todo: personal amable, comida de alta calidad, buen servicio y ambiente, y algunas huellas de la historia y cultura de Birmingham. Realmente recomiendo este restaurante!

Brilliant afternoon tea in a first class compartment on a lovely railway carriage, beautiful food and a very pleasant experience highly recommend 👍

Seabass was cooked well and parsnip soup was tasty could do with another slice of bread for the pate tho 😋

Travelled from Devizes to meet friends who travelled from Southampton. Great welcome by the staff and great service. We had roast dinner. The quality was excellent, very tasty in every way. Quality was amazing and quantity good. A great experience with amazing staff. Thankyou

We were welcomed with incredibly friendly service to this delightful pub. The menu was extremely enticing, making it very difficult to choose! We decided to start with the scallops and the creamy mushrooms, which were both utterly superb. We both chose to follow with the haunch of venison. Perfectly cooked with delicious gravy and the most sumptuous mash. Sadly we were too full for dessert, but our next trip we will aim to take up that challenge! Definitely will return. Fantastic.
