Greyhound Inn in Wiltshire

Lovely spacious restaurant within the Greyhound Inn. Had dinner there with friends and all were impressed with the food quality - lovely selection of food catering for all types of pallet. All washed down with some nice local ales. Service friendly and non obtrusive. One of the best dining experiences I have had this year. Would certainly go there again if in the area and can thoroughly recommend.

Very disappointing having been before and it had been excellent. We looked forward to a return lunch. Cold plates awful veg the standard I would have thrown out. In fact who,e meal below their usual standard

Very nice, tidy, calm and clean atmosphere. Welcoming staff, polite, kind and attentive waitering. Food unfortunately is only average. Squid rings for £9 comes from frozen breaded batch. Even the onion on it was not fresh. Microwaved. Main fish for £23 also did not feel fresh but frozen. Some good ideas on the 'Specials menu' but cutting corners on quality ingredients and freshness of products. Still a good visit, but on the food front I was expecting more knowing the reputation of the place and looking at the prices. For this I can only leave an 'average' rating.

We booked this for a family birthday celebration. We came years ago and the food was of a really goof standard. Sadly this time not much to commend any of it. Staff were off-hand, slow and too busy chatting to notice when we needed something. Food was slow and distinctly average. Tasted like it came out of a freezer. They claimed the bread was homemade but it didn’t taste like it. Overall it didn’t feel good value for what we paid. Disappointed and won’t be going back.

We booked a pod on line (really easy to do) and then arrived early! This was no problem and we received a lovely welcome and shown to our pod! The menu was good and there was plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was very well presented and very tasty. We will certainly be returning in the future.

If you are going to the southwest of UK, this is the place to stay. We looked around in the Southwest area and this was the best. Words can’t describe how great this place is. It is the most genuine UK Inn we have been too and the staff is amazing and friendly. If we ever come back we will definitely stay here again. And the food… amazing!!!

Was only there for food a little slow with service but they was busy at the time

Following a tip from the B&B manager, we visited this restaurant. Highly recommended. My partner and I both ate a different suggestion. Both were very tasty. Compliments to the chef. Staff very courteous.

The food and service were excellent. We had a Sunday roast and then had an evening meal there the next night. On Sunday we had a late Sunday lunch which was good with a healthy amount of beef with all the vegetables, The meal on the next night was tempura king prawn which cooked exactly right followed by steak which you couldn’t fault, best steak I’ve had for a while. My other half had belly pork followed by the monk fish which was declared as extremely good. I thoroughly recommend the food at the Greyhound.

Were were excited to visit while staying with friends as they’d rated their experiences highly. However we were shocked and embarrassed for them with the very poor quality of the battered fish and the so- called steak burger. The batter on the fish was soggy and uneatable! The ‘steak burger’ was extremely dry and tasted like a tough hamburger that had been overcooked on the BBQ but without the flavour. I only realised afterwards that the promised onion marmalade was missing and the bun - well it was billed as sourdough with onion - it looked and tasted like a very stale white bread roll. I should have sent it back immediately but was hungry and I didn’t want to embarrass my friends who’d rated you so highly. In the event no-one asked whether we’d enjoyed the food and I had to be honest- we were offered 30% discount but it should really have been 100% on those dishes! I’ve given 2 stars as the service was polite and our first courses were fine. My advice to first timers would be to choose from the specials which seemed to be enjoyed by our friends. Right now we’re hoping they’ll recommend somewhere else the next time we visit them!!

We loved the Greyhound Inn, it was perfect for our trip. We just stayed the one night as we were just down in Dorset to collect my Mum's car which had broken down the previous week. We stayed in the Coach House, it has a two double rooms, one of which had 2 single beds, each with ensuites. A seating area, a kitchenette and a veranda which is just off the beer garden. We had some delicious food, we shared the tempura prawns which were amazing and had a moving mountains burger each, we should have shared though, the portions are huge! Also, the best chips I have ever had in my life. We had the Apple cake and custard in our rooms and took our drinks back to the room. The staff were great, the room was great and the food was delicious. The breakfast, which was included, was also very yummy. There was a selection of cereals, yoghurts etc and we had poached eggs and toast. The only thing I would change would be to have a television in the main seating area in of the room and to allow dogs 😆 But we completely understand the no dog rule. It wouldn't stop us coming back, the visit was perfect!

We only spent one night here, but we already really enjoyed it. The rooms are beautifully furnished, clean and spacious. The food and drinks are very good and the staff are very friendly.

We spent one night here and it was just great. The service was always very friendly. The room was large, well furnished and very clean. There wasn't a dirty corner, something I've never seen again in England. The bathroom was large with a great shower. There was a nice tea corner with a large refrigerator. The dinner was delicious, but didn't blow us away. For dessert there is homemade ice cream. We had a chocolate tart with custard, which was delicious. The breakfast was also great. There was cereal, fruit and juices available for free. Also jam and Nutella. You could also choose a warm breakfast from the menu. We had the omelette and eggs benedict, both of which tasted very good. It was a great stay, the best on our entire road trip.

Lovely welcoming pub restaurant. Booked dinner for 4. Had 2 appetisers to share. And a G&T, then 3 had the Fish Pie and I had the Venison. Absolutely delicious, accompanied by a bottle of red wine. Definitely recommend the Greyhound and there's Free parking in the market square after 6pm. Result

Decided at last minute to visit for a lunchtime snack as we have always had great meals here. On the website the. Snack menu states 12-2. Booked an outdoor pod. On arrival found that the snack menu was not available on Sunday. I could not see that anywhere on the website. We were going to a barbecue in the evening so didn’t want a full meal. Very disappointed. Ended up having a sandwich meal from the co op. What’s the point of having a website if it’s not up to date !!

I ate here tonight for the first time when visiting Wilton. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly, attentive but not over bearing. Being newly diagnosed gluten intolerant, I was nervous about making a fuss. I need needn't have been nervous because I was able to enjoy all the dishes I wanted and the staff handled my needs professionally. Thank you.

Fab food from a creative yet something-for-everyone menu. We stopped for dinner on the way to holiday so didn't stay here so can't comment on the rooms. Staff were warm and friendly and clearly keen to ensure we enjoyed our meal.

My wife and I loved our stay at The Greyhound Inn. The staff were absolutely lovely and so helpful, the room was really nice will all the amenities we looked for (and spacious). Breakfast in the morning and dinner meals at night were a treat. We were always welcomed back each day with a smile. It's located in a great spot to explore southern England -- we took in Stonehenge, Corfe's Castle, Lulwater Cove, the Cotswolds area (several spots), and more. Overall it was a great experience. We highly recommend it for your future plans.

I always love a meal at The Greyhound. Great food and service. It's always a pleasure to eat there.

Another exceptionally good meal. The whitebait was excellent again. The chunky chips are always freshly cook. The seabass (one of the specials) was superb and cooked to perfection. The staff are always friendly and helpful. A trip to the Greyhound is always something to relish.

Stayed for one night in March 24 while on business in the area. The Greyhound feel is focused more as a restaurant with rooms but still has a good bar selection including two tasty real ales. The room was well appointed, modern & very clean. The breakfast and evening meal were excellent and the prices were not OTT given the area. Highly recommended 👍

We enjoyed another wonderful meal at the Greyhound Inn. We were celebrating my mums birthday and we decided to go to the Greyhound as the service is always excellent and the food is lovely. We mostly had roasts which were cooked beautifully and one of us had the ravioli which was also delicious. We brought a birthday cake and the staff were fantastic as they managed to keep it hidden when transporting to the kitchen and it was a lovely surprise for my mum after our meal. They sang happy birthday to my mum with us and helpfully provided a cake knife and server to cut the cake. The staff were all so friendly and nothing was too much trouble and no one seemed stressed, it was a lovely calm atmosphere. The layout is great and you’re not too close to other tables and it’s a charming little pub with lots of character. Will definitely go again and highly recommend for a visit!

We had a brilliant meal as a party of eight, including two children. We booked late but the staff were really helpful in accommodating us. The welcome was warm and friendly, the food excellent, and the service great throughout. A thoroughly excellent evening and we’d definitely go again.

Probably one of the best places I've been to with food that never disappoints. Fresh, well presented and the staff are amazing to go with it all.

Lovely setting, decor, tasty food and friendly staff . The perfect combination for an enjoyable Sunday Lunch . We were impressed by the variety of fresh vegetables accompanying the meal . We were also treated to a handful of jelly beans with our bill ; which was very reasonable . The ladies and gents are super clean and the outside courtyard nearby would be a lovely place to sit in the warmer months . We noticed the restaurant serves an array of home made ice cream . We will be back to try this next time !

A wonderful setting with a brilliant extensive menu.

This is a great looking pub, comes up as dog friendly on Google. This is not so, we were offered to sit on the outside terrace in January when it was about 2.c. Not very friendly service.

Started by being told off for entering 2 minutes before noon. If you don't want customers entering lock the door, don't blame them for coming in. Roast pork was average, roast potatoes were floury, vegetables were nearly uncooked, but I did like the Yorkshire pudding. Banoffee pie was good but three of us ordered it and the slices were very different sizes. Overall, not impressed.

We arrived for our table at noon and walked in through the unlocked door where we were promptly told off and asked to leave again in a very abrupt manner by a women, who I assume was the manager, as it was two minutes before opening time and they were having a staff briefing. Our party and another group who walked in with us had to wait outside in the cold. Three of our party ordered the roast which was very disappointing - dry pork, mushy roast potatoes and veg that was so crunchy I would describe it as raw. We also ordered 3 identical desserts, which were significantly different sizes. We won"t be going back.

The food here is outstanding! This was my first visit to The Greyhound but I can't wait to go back! I had sea bass for my main meal and I wish I'd taken a photo because it was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! For dessert, I had gluten free ginger cake with vanilla ice cream, it was divine. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food to be brought out. I can honestly say that this is the first time in a while that I have been blown away by the quality of the food. My husband and I are looking forward to staying here next time, the accommodation looks beautiful.

We have just had our Christmas meal at the Greyhound and I cannot praise it highly enough. We booked for 22 people, the food was exactly as ordered all piping hot and delicious, and the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We were even given a father Christmas hat each to wear. Thank you to all involved, it was an experience we will certainly book again next year

I can't fault The Greyhound, always excellent food and the staff are efficient and attentive. It is a place I would always choose for a decent lunch.

Lovely slightly different pub food with great service. Also have cosy outside pods with heating if you want to avoid staying inside with potential viruses.

This pub was brilliant. Staff , food, atmosphere, nothing too much trouble Room was clean very quiet it was nice to hear the church clock every hour many thanks Steve.

Comfortable experience as a solo traveller. Warm welcome and the food was delicious. I opted for the special of the day ‘Monkfish’. Served with black pudding, veggies and a delicious sauce. Dessert I chose the baked cherry cheesecake! Wow. Highly recommended.

The Greyhound Inn Wilton has changed beyond all recognition and is much improved since I first visited it over thirty years ago. My entire party were most impressed by friendly ambience, its pleasant and professional service as well as the selective menu which caters for both vegans and wheat-free. We all enjoyed our delicious meals which were cooked and presented to a very high standard. A great treat to lunch at The Greyhound – thoroughly recommended without any reservations.

One of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had. The beef was carved lovely and thin just as we’d asked. The food was really well presented, not just good on the eye but extremely tasty. The service was excellent not overpowering but there when we needed them. I felt quite chilly so they immediately turned up the heating, very much appreciated. It’s a shame we don’t live in the area, but if we did this would be a regular haunt.

Lovely relaxed pub in the middle of Wilton. A warm atmosphere. Friendly and efficient service. Very varied menu with good options for Vegetarians and Vegans. We had a leisurely lunch with friends. . Good sized portions. Light lunch options were good as were main menu choices. Good clean facilities . No parking on site for non residents, but we parked in the free 2 hour car park across from the pub. We all had 3 courses with coffee and drinks for £40 a head. Good value for money. We shall return!

A beautiful spot for lunch superbly varied menu excellent food and service looking forward to a return visit.

The Greyhound offers a consistent 5 star service. The staff are polite, engaging and responsive to needs. The menu offers mainly modern offerings which do not disappoint. The young mothers with crying babies were a distraction but that reflects more on the parents than the restaurant.

We decided to go here on recommendation from our B&B Cricket Field View and we are so glad we did. On arrival we hadn't booked a table and they were fully booked but a guest vacated a table so we could eat. The service and food was top notch. The ladies who served were so attentive and helpful, the food came quickly and tasted amazing. If you're in the area this place is definitely one to visit. But book ahead first to avoid disappointment. 5 stars from me

There is a 'specials' menu that changes weekly, and a main menu that changes two or three times a year. We enjoyed some very good dishes off both menus. Desserts included an extraordinary selection of homemade ice creams, and they would happily serve them on their own if you just came in for an indulgent treat. Good selection of wines by the glass. Good service: attentive, but not intrusive. Good value: no service charge, so we happily added a tip. Friday evening and the place was deservedly full, so it's worth booking.

The perfect stay! We only stayed one night but wished we stayed longer. The 2 bedroom apartment was perfect, super clean and had everything we needed. The team even supplied us with some cereal and milk for the morning, as our little one likes an early breakfast. We had dinner in the restaurant which was great too!

This is an exceptional hotel - our room was clean, comfortable and well designed, breakfast was high quality too, and though we did not eat there in the evening as we were at a wedding, the dining was extremely popular. To top it the service was suberb - helpful and anticipatory. Big shout out to house-keeping and Kaylen who ensured our room was ready early so we could change for the wedding. Brilliant.
