If you are in search of a great Sunday Lunch, then the search is over. My family meal here was perfect. No more to add.

A friend of ours recommended this place to us and we were able to get a table at short notice for Sunday lunch. I'm so glad we went. The place was really busy but the atmosphere was great. Relaxed, friendly and buzzing with conversation. Everyone who served us our meal and drinks were lovely. Friendly, helpful and chatty. And the best bit, was of course, the food. What an excellent roast (belly pork), with nice vegetables, plenty of gravy, all piping hot and a special mention must go to the excellent cauliflower cheese. A sneaky espresso martini topped things off nicely. Will we go back? We already have!!

Lovely Saturday evening dinner with friends and fantastic service. We had lovely burgers in a busy restaurant. The desert crème brûlée was rather on the small and expensive side

Met here for lunch with a friend, I checked before it was dog friendly which it was so bought my dog- no issues there. Bar staff were charming, had the rump steak mashed potato ( I asked to swop the green beans for broccoli-no problems). The food was delicious, as a foodie I would definately recommend

Can’t recommend The Horseshoe enough . Wonderful food, in fact the best mussels I’ve ever had. Service was excellent . Pub looks very stylish inside , even the ladies loos looked very posh . Very friendly staff . Looking forward to having a drink in the lovely beer garden in the summer, but will be returning very soon . Highly recommend

We had nothing but praise for all aspects of our lunchtime visit. Attentive and charming service and beautifully sung ‘Happy Birthday’. Very good food. Excellent value for money.

I'd say this is probably vying with Dan's for the best place to eat in Marlborough. We had our Valentine's dinner here and whole experience was just superb. It's a very characterful pub with lots of dining rooms feeding off the main entrance, so a great mix of busy/bustling, cosy and yet still intimate. They've just got a new chef but considering it was his first night running the kitchen you'd never know, all our food was perfectly cooked and very well presented. Great to see them employing some younger people for serving, some of them clearly still learning but all with a great "customer-centric" attitude. Finally the bill was half the price of somewhere like Rick Stein's. Couldn't really fault it at all.

Visiting the area and booked online. Offered bread and dipping oil to begin and also offered water for the table, which I feel should be a standard thing but rarely is. Wonderful, tender, tasty beef roast , great choice of vegetables plus cauliflower cheese. Generous portions. Friendly, efficient staff. Only slight negative was that dining room was cool to start with, but sat by hidden door. But that would not stop us going again to this lovely pub.

Staff were brilliant and really accommodating. When we identified a problem with the food this was dealt with quickly. Unfortunately some of the dishes in our party were a bit average and we felt overpriced, while others were very good. The factor most affecting our evening was the cold temperature. There was a real draft and nothing that could be done about it which sadly did take away from our enjoyment. I have previously had some great Sunday lunches here but would have to think about coming back in the evening

We enjoyed a delightful Christmas Eve meal here. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was superb. Lovely way to start the Christmas week.

As usual what I'm looking for is great food, exemplary service and a reasonable price. This pub hit the mark on all counts. Visited on a Sunday and whilst a Roast isn't my favorite meal when eating out, this was excellent - from the crackling to the roasties and the gravy but especially the Yorkshire pudding. Friendly and prompt service from the young wait staff and a bill that was smaller than I expected, rounded it all off.

Lovely Sunday lunch and very good value. Had roast meals and the vegetable accompaniments were particularly well.cooked and presented.

Met with some long time friends at the horseshoe for lunch. The food and drink was amazing, topped off by the amazing service from our server Alex who was prompt, attentative and showed great humour with the whole party from the moment we all arrived. Alex also gave us all some excellent recommendations from the menu! We all agreed it was the best experience we've all had for a long time!

We are a group of friends who met up today for lunch at the Horseshoe.From the moment we arrived, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Our waitress, Sabrina, truly stood out. She was incredibly attentive, professional, and friendly, ensuring we felt welcomed and well taken care of throughout the afternoon. The food was simply amazing. The Owner, Clare liaised with the Chef and worked with us to have a bespoke menu and offered a fabulous selection of dishes, each cooked to perfection. Every bite was delicious and the desserts - they were the perfect sweet ending to an already outstanding meal. A special mention goes to Clare, who went above and beyond to assist with our booking and help us make the best choices from the menu. With fabulous service, incredible food, and warm, welcoming atmosphere, the Horseshoe is a place we will definitely return to and recommend to friends and family!

Lovely location for a special meal, we booked the private dining area for a 70th. Plenty of very interesting food choices, and a great selection of drinks. Not to mention the very relaxed atmosphere.

A lovely lunch of wild mushroom and blue cheese tart followed by brownie and honeycomb, a great venue for a catch up with friends.

Attractive looking pub set in beautiful grounds but the roasts we had were average for the price. The roast potatoes were approaching weapon grade toughness and the lamb was rather fatty and stringy. The service wasn’t particularly sincere so overall it was quite an underwhelming experience which is a shame.

A group of 10 of us chose to meet and eat lunch here. Everything was just perfect for us. We all had a thoroughly good time.

A beautiful cosy pub! We had a perfect Sunday roast here after a recommendation to visit All of the staff we passed greeted us, which was lovely. The food was really tasty, we had roast chicken and roast beef. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and the service was faultless. I have driven past here so many times and I'm glad I popped in and had lunch. We will definitely be back!

Amazing destination. Great menu, decor and wines! Sunday lunch slightly disappointing. Lamb rather fatty and chicken over cooked. Both under seasoned. However probably just a bad day - we will definitely be back very soon! The food is usually really highly rated by everyone we know who comes here. The staff were so lovely and could not be more helpful. Great choice!!

Booked The Horseshoe at Mildenhall for dinner on the way home from a birthday day trip for our little girl. Lovely country village pub within lovely surrounds. Menu was brilliant with loads of options suitable for the 3 of us, food and service were both amazing, the kitchen area is open plan so can be seen from the homely dining room. Will definitely look to visit again if in the area or passing on way home again.

Fantastic place, with a beautiful, dog-friendly garden and delicious food. A bit on the costly side, but well worth it in my opnion!

Had a delicious plant-based friendly lunch (allergy aware). Best chips for miles! Grass garden with tables for doggos. Quiet and charming village. Lots of parking or come on foot (various local footpaths nearby). Delicious cider (Devon Red) ⭐️

This was one of the first venues i thought of when thinking of a nice country pub to entertain our South African friends. We were not disappointed. Great Ramsbury brews, excellent food and smiling friendly service

Went for a drink and small bite to eat, was a great atmosphere, menu was really good although tempted by many items, we just went for the skin on chips which were very tasty and rustic. Delicious! Very friendly staff too. Will definitely go back for a proper meal.

Top pub with a great garden and one of the best Roasts I have ever had. Really lovely hosts and service was quick and friendly. I am amazed that it wasn’t completely rammed but was still very popular. Really great place to enjoy a meal inside or out.

Beautiful roast dinner for Fathers Day. Had great view of kitchen which was very organised. Massive yorkie pud! My only criticism is that the restaurant needs a dust. Bottles of wine dusty and light shades need a wipe over.

Friendly old village pub, small range of beers but do have ramsbury and landlord. Seems like a great food menu but I didn't try any this time. Friendly staff. Would recommend.

Great refurb to this pub local pub. Delicious burrata and fennel starter and sea bream cassoulet. The lighting might be great for older generations that like food floodlit, but it gave a slight ‘party’s over’ vibe where we ate. Would recommend the chefs table area, especially for groups!

Excellent staff, excellent food

SUBLIME!! Amelia kindly accommodated our party of 5 very last minute for Sunday Lunch. We were warmly welcomed and seated in a lovely, area where we all selected different meats of choice, partnered with a two side dishes of cauliflower cheese. The meal was cooked to perfection and the yorkshires had the WOW factor!! - the desserts were also sublime and we all chose the chocolate moose as too full for crumble. Amelia and Kate were the perfect hosts and it really made the day very Special and was greatly appreciated by all of us. We will definately be back very soon. THANK YOU.....and compliments to the Chef and everyone in the kitchen. Xx

I'm not exaggerating when I say that was the best fish n chips I've ever had - eaten in or take away! The batter was sublime as was the perfectly cooked, white, just translucent and wonderfully moist fish inside. They describe the curry sauce, which was served alongside, and with tartare sauce, as 'chip shop curry sauce' on the menu, however this was something different - not the glupy out of the packet sugary custard like stuff you're sold in the high street -, this was 'proper' refined , delicate spiced curry sauce. The piece de resistance were the mushy peas, except these were no ordinary mushy peas: a puree of verdant lusciousness that accompanied my every mouthful of fish and chips until there was no-more. Obviously yesterday, (29/03/2024) myself, my wife and mother-in-law ate in at this special pub, come high-end bistro extraordinare. Exceptional service too from the young lady (assistant manager) who remembered my mother in law from her previous visit, adding to the charm of this village oasis.

Having stopped in last week for some food, I was pleasantly greeted by the young lady behind the bar, whom I believe was called Alex. The food was above and beyond amazing, I can't recommend it enough! Service was swift and no request seemed too much of an ask for Alex, her attentiveness and friendly demeanor certainly added to an already enjoyable visit! Highly recommend, I will definitely visit again!

This superb pub has a large car park to the rear and is very dog friendly. The food is excellent I had the pulled pork burger which I recommend, there is a children’s menu. The ladies who looked after us were wonderful and put up with our table for 6 including 2 young children plus a Labrador. We were there on a Saturday and it was busy. Booking is recommended.

The first time we have eaten here.and it was excellent. The staff are welcoming , friendly and efficient. Everyone’s roast was perfect, the vegetarian option was excellent. All very good value. I highly recommend the Horseshoe and we will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff.

A great find outside of Marlborough. Quality food from people that genuinely seem to care about it. Interesting combinations and specials and all at a very reasonable price. A tiny quibble, they have a cool open kitchen hatch but the music in the kitchen bleeds into the dinning room music that was also playing Either would have been fine but both together was a bit dissonant.

Such a good roast. You won’t be disappointed. A huge portion of food and everything was so tasty. The best roast of this size with so much famous that we’ve had in a pub for a very long time The veg, the gravy, the beef, the mustard, the cauliflower cheese and the huge Yorkshire pudding….I ate the lot. Definitely will visit again.

Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry! Food actually EXCELLENT but we had to wait AN HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES after ordering to get it.. Restaurant really chilly and noisy (possibly due to lack of soft furnishings, fans and stone tables). Staff very pleasant and apologetic…

We enjoyed the visit so much last time that we all wanted to come back. It was interesting to see some variation in the menu (I enjoyed my last meal so much, I would probably have ordered the same again). The food selection was interesting and there was a good selection to suit all tastes. The portions were generous and the service was friendly and professional. There was a great atmosphere in the pub and a good mix of people in the bar section and restaurant.

Great atmosphere in the pub, its nice to see a small village pub full of life on a Thursday evening. We ate in the restaurant on the back of the pub and really enjoyed the visit. The host was friendly and knowledgable and gave good information on each of the dishes. The restaurant has a cosy intimate feel to it and is attached to an open kitchen so you watch the chef work their magic. I went for the BBQ prawns and focaccia as a starter and the bacon cheeseburger as a main. Both were cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The food did not disappoint and all of us were were impressed with the quality, portion size and reasonable pricing. Thanks for a great night, we'll be back soon!

Really lovely atmosphere and food

Head chef, Nick Oborne, has brought his love of fire roasted cooking to this delightful country pub. If you book the Chef’s table, four of you can watch the master calmly at work and see your meat or fish cooked from scratch. To accompany it is a selection of glorious vegetable dishes. Imaginative, healthy and tasty. The menu offers a great selection for vegetarian, dairy and gluten free eaters and is very competitively priced. This was our second visit and it didn’t disappoint.

The renaissance of the Horseshoe this year has been remarkable. The staff, in particular the gentleman who runs the bar, are helpful, courteous and super efficient. Put that alongside excellent food from a well run kitchen and visit the Horseshoe to enjoy one of the best gastropub experience in East Wiltshire. Hats off to the excellent staff and their wise employers. BTW, the menus have just been updated, we'll report soon on the results.

I liked this pub when I first visited in 2020. Since then it’s been taken over and improved on every level. I’m so glad more is being made of the huge garden. Unbeatable on a sunny day. The staff were all lovely and the food we chose was terrific. Thank you.

Had the worst service I’ve had in a long time the food was nice but we waited one hour for our starter, the chef and waitress were visibly arguing, and the man behind the bar was incredibly unfriendly, they were very busy because the cricket team came in but even before that the bar man was miserable. Our meal took hours because the service was so slow, the chips were trashed, we had a main then a side 15 mins later, then the Gluten free burger came out not as gluten free so it had to be returned and took another 15 mins. The waitress did apologies but then probably should of knocked something off the bill as it was a truly awful experience and they knew it! It’s my second time since the refit and both times now haven’t been great and it’s expensive for such a poor experience

A little gem, clean and tidy with a good range of ales and beers. Excellent food, beautifully presented, really tasty and not your standard pub fare. Friendly staff and a nice welcoming atmosphere.

Live locally and eventually made the effort to try , the Pubs lovely, great ambiance. The lunch menu doesn’t have a huge choice, we both had the fish and chips. Home made chips, light crunchy batter, served with lovely curry sauce, tarter sauce and mint mashed peas. We will be back!

Mistakes made during service and bad acoustics made chatting difficult

Really cosy and charming. Only had beers here which there are good range of (nice to see Siren & Meantime on draught).

Food, drinks, staff, interior and atmosphere leave nothing to be desired. Head to Mildenhall for delicious meats from the grill, original side dishes and tasty relishes and tapenades. There are several rooms, but if you sit near the Chef's Counter you can see the magic happening. I warmly recommend the duck breast with gooseberry thyme gel and the lamb rump with tapenade. Choose garlic butter potatoes and fire roasted salad for sides - heavenly!

Fantastic local pub, great beer, wine and food. The pub has recently been restored, and was an amazing location with a great beer garden. Staff very friendly.

Nice pub, good food and atmosphere. We had a sunday lunch and it was great, except for the chicken, which was a bit dry. Overall, it was very good.

Delicious Sunday roast, with an impressive collection of ales and lagers on tap.

Divine gastro-pub that has not yet been fully discovered making it all the more fresh and delightful. The new owners have transformed the Listed building with paired down quality refurbishment. The staff have been long loyal and are a credit to the owners and the chef. The chef is standout - fantastic grill menu with superb sides, best in Wiltshire dare we say. Puddings too, intensity and so well balanced. Well worth any travel needed to reach.

Food was just beautiful and so much of it. Crispy pork was the best I’ve tasted. The staff are polite and attentive. The whole experience was very positive.

I took my brother to the Horseshoe for lunch to celebrate his birthday. It was mid week and the pub was very quiet. We were well received by the friendly waitress, who cared for our every need all through lunch. Food was glorious. Beautifully presented, clean tasting, fresh and delicious. The menu was not extensive, however we found it a pleasant venue with enough choice. We shared a start of Beetroot hummus, babaganoush, dukkha, roasted tomato tapenade, pickles & flatbread which was truly yum, and enough for the two of us at £12 we felt it was great value. For mains my brother ordered ale battered haddock, pea puree, chip shop curry sauce, chips & charred lemon cost £16. He virtually licked his fingers and plate, and said it was excellent, one of the best fish and chip meals he’d had in a very long time. For my main I had Chicken shawarma, flatbread, mint yogurt, salad & chips £18. It was a an elevated glorified kebab really. Beautifully cooked, with great ingredients and well presented. This is a great young chef who is certainly elevating food, giving us what we know at another level without trying to be too clever. Love it! Highly recommend 10/10

Lovely evening out with family members. Good food and lovely pub, waitress’s very friendly and helpful.

Staff and atmosphere was great but food was underwhelming. The chips that came with our dishes were oily and over-cooked. My bacon cheeseburger came with one burned rasher of bacon and the patty was very tough, and the bun was either stale or over toasted.

Fantastic menu and food. Able to cater for dietary requirements as standard with a great selection. Visited for a work do and then had to return with the family shortly after as was so good. Beautifully decorated - nice vibe. Highly recommend. Had a look at the Sunday lunch menu and it also looks delicious, it’s next on the list to try!
