Great pub, lots of guest beers. I really like The Bridewell it's one of my favourites.

Very good Liverpool pub in a former police jail about 15 minutes walk from Liverpool Lime Street Railway Station. Four cask beers - and one cider - on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating in the patio area within the wall at the front. The pub is a Grade ll listed building that dates from the mid 19th century when it was a police 'bridewell' or jail. The cells are used as separate seating areas.

We LOVE The Bridewell anyway, which is why we chose it for our wedding evening do. Great atmosphere, drink selection, and friendly staff. Had the best time and ended our special day perfectly with Guiness in hand. Thanks guys - 5 stars!

On a warm spring evening, where better to sit than in a Victorian Gaol courtyard😉. We received as warm a welcome as the 'regulars'. staffed with knowledgeable, friendly people. Venture inside and enjoy the sympathetically restored cells, you won't be disappointed. With a good selection of beers and spirits, there's something for everyone. PS we could even hear ourselves talk.

Best pub in Liverpool. Dom and Luke run it like a machine. I've never waited longer than a minute for a pint. All the staff are great. Well worth coming for a few pints. Love the place.

Unique setting, wonderfully welcoming staff, fabulous drinks which were brought to our 'cell' while we spent a few hours watching the Aintree racing on the cell TV. Would go back in a heartbeat and definitely on our itinerary when we are next in Liverpool.

I love the Bridewell, it’s my favourite pub in Liverpool. I don’t get to visit as often as I like, but whenever I’m in the city centre with my wife or I have friends and family visiting, I’ll take them to the Bridewell if there’s time. Firstly it’s a unique pub because it’s an old Police station, but the lay out, be it in the beer garden, by the bar or the cells, it’s a really nice venue to have drinks in whenever you find yourself. Then there’s the staff; to each man and woman they’re a class act. Friendly, knowledgeable, quick to serve and will happily chat with you. There’s a barman with long curly hair who’s name I wish I knew who is particularly friendly and helpful, but all the staff are a credit to the pub. The drink selection is great, there are multiple tv screens and live sport, some fantastic memorabilia on the walls, particularly for Everton fans (I’m West Ham) and it’s very, very clean, including the men’s toilets, which isn’t the case often in many other pubs. If you’re a local or a visitor to the fine city of Liverpool, I’d definitely add the Bridewell to your list of spots to visit.

Querky place in an old prison. Worth going to for the experience but I wouldn't hurry back

So we called in for a few beers and this place is simply wonderful. A very special mention to a couple of people who make this place outstanding, Luke and Libby were so welcoming and polite, they are a credit not only to this establishment but the visit to Liverpool in general as they are so engaging, polite and welcoming. Massive shout out to the guys and girls here behind the bar. We popped in Friday for a drink We aren't local and visiting Liverpool for the weekend from Worcester. So friendly and they all know how to run a bar. We ended up going back Saturday for some good old fashioned Saturday afternoon pints and wine. Special mention to the really nice guy (curly hair!) Who welcomed us and even shook our hands when we left, encouraging us to visit again in the future. Old skool, pub with history, quirky but nice atmosphere. Great bar here! All small alcoves perhaps were once cells since its an old police station. Great atmosphere with a lovely outdoor space too. Very clean interior and lovely friendly staff . Oh and reasonable prices for drinks too! What more could you want.

Popped into this old pub as I was told by a friend it was unusual that it's an old prison and they've kept the cells. Visited on 28th November when Christmas market and festivities are just starting. We popped in before 5 and was surprised to see how busy it was. I tried the 3 swords ale, which was crystal clear and very refreshing. As it was so busy we stayed in the courtyard which is beautifully maintained and welcoming.

No food just a pub. Good selection of beers and wine. Cosy atmosphere especially in the cells. Good service from the staff.

A wonderfully quirky pub situated in what used to be a bridewell. There's always a great selection of real ales & Continental bottled beers.

Superb place staff were amazing

Really disappointing experience. We were told my friend (who is gay) could not be served alcohol because he was ‘too drunk’ despite him being in a perfectly coherent state. I asked the manager why this was the case and he repeatedly told me he did not need to give me a reason as he was the licensee and if we were supportive friends we should have gone elsewhere. He claimed my friend walked straight into the bar and into several people but refused to give any CCTV evidence of this on the grounds that he is the licensee and does not need to provide a reason. He repeatedly pointed in my face in an aggressive manner, despite me asking twice for him not to do so. He suggested we would be better off drinking elsewhere as other places may be less ‘strict.’ We were also subjected to homophobic abuse by the clientele as we left the bar. A really sad and disappointing experience, very ashamed that anywhere in my home city would display such a lack of inclusivity. Needless to say we will not be returning and I would certainly not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Great boozer with some of the best service you’ll find in Liverpool. On a busy match day the staff are switched on and ready, so you won’t be waiting long. They will also provide table service to prevent a crush inside and they operate like a well oiled machine - great stuff guys. I have never been inside one of the booths/cells, but it’s a cool quirky feature. Outside is great with plenty of cover and heat lamps if it’s cold, tvs everywhere (main bar, outside, inside each booth/cell) and cracking tunes playing when there isn’t a match on. A good selection of German lager and they do seem to take pride in their Guinness which was good to see (although my pints on this particular visit could have been poured better, it tasted great). It’s very busy on Saturdays or when a match is on, so keep that in mind, but this place comes highly recommended.

What can I say… The Bridewell is the best pub in Liverpool. The Feel Of The Pub Is Authentic… After a Social Bike Ride They Are Happy To accommodate us whilst we have the bikes. Love the place. The People The Pub and The Staff… Very Attentive… Thanks Dom And The Staff.

Absolute gem of a heritage pub smack in the middle of Liverpool. This was an experience for me. I enjoyed a delicious pint of Guinness in this former Victorian police station. Great atmosphere and a great place to kick back with friends and sink a pint or two. If you're in Liverpool, then this is a bucket list pub.

Visited here 2 weeks ago with my fellow Mr. Brian NASH (of Frankie Goes To Hollywood) where they founded the band FGTH in early 80's and spent wonderful time for hours. Bridewell-come to the Pleasuredome! ♥️😊

Visited here yesterday for a couple of hours for drinks, never noticed it before but would definitely recommend to everyone in Liverpool now. Tucked away and a proper hidden gem. Really quirky and still has a lot of the original features, love the little booths that used to be prison cells. The drinks were great and great prices but the reason for leaving the review was the staff. Amazing service from the two guys behind the bar, so friendly and so quick serving everyone providing table service and coming over to the table to collect payment. Barely had to move all night and their energy was infectious. Loved it and would definitely return.

Up in Liverpool to watch Palace at Everton. Found the Bridewell through Google Maps and settled down to enjoy a couple of first rate pints, in one of the cells. My son recognised the licensee as being the manager of the Fly in the Loaf that we had visited some 7 years ago before a Liverpool Uni open day and who gave us outstanding customer service, above and beyond. Dominic, understandably has gone on to new heights and instills the importance of making customers feel most welcome (despite being banged up in a cell!) A truly unique and outstanding hostelry. Will certainly return on our next visit!

Very interesting and unusual pub. Has a number of "booths" set in the old cells, either side of a central corridor. Very good service and a nice range of beers.

Popped in for a quick drink, busy place, but quick friendly service. Guy even apologised for asking our daughter for her ID.. Good happy atmosphere.. Definitely recommend it
