We went for lunch and there was a lot of complicated dishes available. The food I had was delicious but duck overcooked to my liking but still very tasty. Others in the group didn't enjoy their food and said parts were very dry or too intense with one flavour. They removed the complaint dish. The parking area could do with some work and imagine gets busy. We went about 13:30 and we were the only ones in except staff which was odd. Staff said it's packed later in day, we didn't see that. What I had was nice but unlikely to return when back in the area.

Had Sunday lunch and we both agreed it was our new favourite and we have tried a few. Really cant fault a thing, meat was perfectly cooked , all the veg were spot on , great touches like home made bread and fresh mint sauce , not lazy jar stuff. Will definitely be back, probably stay for a weekend sometime.

Set in a lovely location, not far from some beautiful beaches and pretty villages. Rooms spotless, bed very comfortable, beautiful bathroom, my husband enjoyed the slo gin, left in the room and we both appreciated the home made cake everyday! We ate there 2 nights, the food was good as were the breakfasts. We took our two Border terriers, who are both well travelled and know how to behave, when they are staying away. However, although it says dog friendly, not sure the owner a dog lover, also not one for being big on conversation, unless you were a local. Just our preference, a little bit of pleasantries makes you feel welcome.

Already recommended to friends to go and stay. Fantastic dinner, lovely waiting staff, delicious breakfast. Why no 5 stars? Oh, shucks, its such a great place it just went back to 5×. Just be careful of stairs and bath. OK, it's a restaurant with rooms in my view, and a wonderful example of that. Couple of points need attention. Access to Bath/shower is a difficulty, water/boiler/dunno constant noise was there all night, doubt not much can be done, just kept waiting for it to stop. It didn't. Everything else at The White Swan is so good, please go there and have delicious food, drink very good wine, and enjoy your kipper(s) in the morning.

Just got home from a two day break here for my husbands birthday. The area is beautiful and peaceful so very quiet day and night. The white swan is in an excellent location for visiting all areas of Northumberland and is a stunning place to stay. Our bedroom was lovely and cosy, we loved the little tipples left in our room daily as well as the gorgeous cakes, a perfect added touch. We ate in the Inn one night, in the bar area with our dog, staff were friendly and welcoming, gets busy so book. The food was very nice, I'm fussy so would have loved generic pub food such as pie and chips, gammon steak etc, but the food we ate was very fancy, cooked and presented beautifully and tasted great. We ate breakfast both days and had full English, the food was tasty, seemed good quality produce, good portion size, hot and I was full till late afternoon. I wouldn't change a thing about this place and can't wait to visit again. Thank you

We had lunch here based on reviews from TA and were very pleased we did. It was quiet on a Monday for a late lunch and the outside didn’t look too inspiring but inside is very pleasing with an extensive menu. My wife and daughter shared two starters mackerel and asparagus salad while we chaps had the venison Wellington and sea bass. Good local beer and well worth a visit.

We had two nights here to explore the area and it’s a good base, easy to find and very nice. Definitely more of a restaurant than a pub.We were more than pleased with the room. Very good size, huge bathroom with deep claw foot bath with rubber ducks! Also the marvellous chocolate cake and cheese scones along with the sloe gin went down very well. It’s very busy for evening meals. We ate here both nights.I was disappointed with my chicken roulade and risotto, it was very under seasoned and over cooked. The other wild boar pasta was good and the second night’s food, lamb and fish and chips were good. Staff were lovely really on the ball, efficient and friendly. Portion sizes were huge even at breakfast. All in all a very good time x

Booked for our first night in the area and were expecting great things based on all the positive reviews. Maybe we arrived on an off night but wasn't expecting the guy "welcoming" us to tell me we were half an hour early, despite me having an email confirming the time. He was clearly annoyed and made it plain it was a big effort to get us seated. Quite embarrassing in front of my friends. Anyway, it really put a dampener on the night which was a shame as the food is excellent - large portions and delicious, especially the wild boar ragu. The ladies serving were also very friendly but I'm afraid we won't be back

We booked a table for the final night of our holiday after reading reviews and were glad we did!The pub itself is just off the A1 so really easy to get to and has really nice character and decor. We were escorted to the table and the COVID social distancing measures are good, so no worries there.I had a lovely pint of IPA whilst we perused the menu and had a really difficult time choosing as there were so many tempting options. Including wild boar, venison and some great fish dishes. My wife and I both had the scallops with pork belly and a pineapple and chilli salsa to start and it was absolutely delicious. I followed with rack of lamb and my wife had the hake wrapped in ham served on a bean cassoulet which she said was fantastic. My daughter had the ribeye steak which was a bit fatty and as she hadn't eaten much the waitress did offer to get her something else which I thought was nice. As we were all stuffed we weren't going to order dessert but having seen plenty pass our table that looked lovely decided to share a chocolate brownie which was fantastic! All this drinks and a bottle of wine cost £126 which I thought was good value considering the excellent quality of the food. A special mention to the young waitress too, she was really friendly and uber efficient.A great way to end our holiday and we will definitely return when we next visit. It was very busy so remember to book ahead.

Just been for lunch with friends - the first time in over a year and found it a disappointing experience. The glasses on the table were dirty with one also having lipstick on it.Having looked at the menu we all decided to have a main course and dessert. Although Scampi wasn’t on the menu and she would be happy to have the fish and chips on offer, my friend decided to ask if they did have any scampi and obviously offended the proprietor who explained that was something that was bought in and pulled out of the freezer....We ordered fish and chips for everyone and asked for extra tartare sauce. The fish and chips arrived and sachets of tartare sauce were plonked on the table. The fish and chips were lovely. We declined the sachets of tartare sauce and made do with the portion of homemade tartare sauce on our plates.Desserts were ordered - Banoffee cheesecake and a Roasted Strawberry and pastry cream Mille Feuille. The cheesecake was awful. It tasted as if it was an old cheesecake that had come out of the freezer with slices of banana that had long lost the texture and taste of a banana and could have bounced them off the walls. The cheesecake seemed to have been covered with some kind of gelatine which was almost impenetrable. The other dessert was best described as a sandwich of thin pastry filled with pastry cream and 2 blow torched strawberries on the top. Caramel sauce was extremely thin on the ground. Ice cream was nice.On paying we were asked if everything had been alright we mentioned about the cheesecake and got a very blasé response, no apology.A very disappointing experience as I have been many times before and always had a good meal but don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.

We always visit for an evening meal at least once when staying in the area & on 2 occasions now have had a 2 nights' break here. The food is the main draw as the menu is always that bit different, beautifully cooked & ingredients fresh & locally sourced. The home made bread is to die for - but don't fill up too much on that or you will have to miss out on a dessert! We have stayed both in room 2 & room 1, & whilst both are clean & beautifuuly furnished, we prefer to be upstairs as room 1 downstairs is close to the banging door to the bar . Maybe a rubber thingy could be fitted to make it shut more quietly? This did not detract from our stay however. We love the extras in the rooms such as daily cake ( unfortunately not keen on the Northumberland rum but great to be able to try it!)Staff are always pleasant & helpful & breakfasts are a real treat.Hopefully it won't be too long until our next stay.

This is not the sort of pub you come across as is set back off the main road so a chance you would miss it. We Googled local places to eat as the pub we intended to eat at nearby, the chef was off sick so luckily we came across The White Swan as otherwise would not have known of its existence. Lovely country feel both inside and out. The stained glass windows of white swans was a nice touch. We had to book and had eat quite late as it was busy so that in itself is a good indication. I thought it was slightly above average price at £18 for fish curry but it was very nice.

Disappointing cheese board, there’s loads of great Northumberland cheeses to choose from, three cheeses presented, Stilton, Brie, and a smoked, shame. The brownie was ok, more like a dense cake. Booked in advance for Sunday lunch. We visited Lindisfarne in the morning and arrived 20mins late due to traffic getting off the island. This wasn't a problem for the staff. I noticed Estrella Galacia on the pumps which also helped things get off to a good start. Scallops to start. They included the roe which was pleasing. Cooked fantastically with bacon and capers. Roast Rib of beef (nice to see the rib instead of the usual topside) for main. This was served pink. Vegetables were fresh and vibrant and still had some bite. Gravy was extremely flavorful and a proper a Yorkshire was most welcome. Roast potato was unusual but still pleasant (not many restaurants can replicate home cooked roasties). Creme Brulee to finish which was very good. My girlfriend also enjoyed her meal but felt her brownie pudding had more of a cake texture instead of what she was expecting. This was the only small blip in an otherwise excellent meal. I have been out for so many Sunday lunches in the North East and this would be in my top 5 easily. A very pleasant suprise having never heard of this place.

Others who'd stayed at the nearby HPB Lucker Hall recommended the White Swan to us and told us to be sure to book. I'm so glad we did! We were happy with the social-distancing measures put in place - our table for two had screens either side of it and all the tables were well spaced out. I'd decided to only have two courses - until I saw the menu! I love horseradish, so was intrigued by the turnip, horseradish and honey soup, which was absolutely delicious. Braised brisket, seabass, monkfish and venison were all on the menu but I decided on a pave of halibut served on a crab & garden pea risotto topped with samphire, and was delighted with it. Main meals come with a generous bowl of vegetables - none of those miserable half a carrot with one broccoli spear and a new potato things! The desserts are described as The Best Bit on the menu and certainly were for me. Summer Pudding with raspberry ice cream was on offer and didn't disappoint. My husband enjoyed the scallops with maple pulled-pork, venison & pigeon breast and a generous cheese board. The staff were attentive, without being over-attentive and didn't call us 'guys', which is always a plus these days! Together with a glass of wine and pint of real ale the bill came to a very reasonable £75.75 for such a first-class meal. We will definitely visit again when we're back in the area.

This is one of the places we always try to go for a meal , whenever visiting the area. We've eaten there a number of times over the years and the standard never seems to drop. We booked a table during our first post-lockdown holiday and were happy to find The White Swan as good as ever. The only problem I had was deciding which of the delicious sounding dishes on the menu to choose. I opted for a starter of scallops with maple cooked pulled pork and a main of cod with butterbean and chorizo cassoulet - both delicious. We enjoyed our meals so much that we promptly booked a table for the next evening! Service is friendly and efficient and the place feels perfectly safe. Well done and keep up the good work - it is much appreciated.

Lovely place great food friendly staff would definitely recommend this place. Only downside is that there are no disabled toilet facilities but otherwise very accommodating for wheelchair users

Having read all the glowing reviews, we were expecting great things on our stay at the white swan hotel. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the picture so clearly painted! On entering the 2x rooms allocated to us for our family stay, it was clear that neither had been properly cleaned and items in the room were coated in layers of dust. There were multiple hairs in the bathroom, toilets were not properly cleaned. For nearly £100 per night, per room, we did not feel that this was acceptable. On discussion with the 2x owners, we were met with a rude and patronising attitude. Whilst they stated that they would re-clean the rooms for us, we were given many excuses as to why the rooms were dusty and, despite clear evidence, were told ‘it’s only a bit of dust and a hair’ and our concerns were downplayed. We were offered no compensation and the owner’s attitude was unacceptable. Rather than being offered a solution, we were told instead that we ‘would probably be better off going to stay elsewhere’. In fact, this is what we did and we did not stay for even one of our two night stay, but rather found another (lovely and clean!) bnb. Would not recommend to anyone!

We have been to the White Swan a few times now and it had always been consistently outstanding. We had the scallops to start last night (which were faultless), ox cheek and chocolate creme brûlée. All cooked perfectly. Great pub/ restaurant with lovely atmosphere.

First visit was yesterday lunch. We were the only diners, but that was someone else's loss, not ours. Lovely pub, just off the A1 at Warenford. Superb food. The soup was, delicious, the Game Pie was scrumptious. Service very good. We booked to return next month and can't wait.

Located just off the A1, a couple of miles south of Belford, Northumberland, and close to the village of Lucker, with its myriad of rental apartments & properties, the White Swan at Warenford was a revelation!Although initial impressions of the White Swan were nothing exceptional, once inside, that view was immediately dispelled by a warm & cosy public bar area, backed by a large dining room and a, frankly, outstanding menu.We booked one of the 3 bedrooms for a 3-night stay on a B&B basis The rooms were "traditional, a little old-fashioned perhaps (although our en-suite bathroom was refurbished & excellent) , but very clean, comfortable, and with one or two lovely hokmely touches (fresh cakje left every day, fresh milk also for tean & coffee. Its is difficult to know which was best, the efficient and friendly service from all the staff from Andrew, the owner, downwrs, but everyone we dealt with could not have been more helpful or looked after us any better. In competition, however, was the menu! Brakfast (included in the B&B price) was outstanding, big choice, all freshly cooked, and enoght to last you throughout the day! Although the dinner menu was not changed during the 3 days we were there, there was a fantastic choiuce of dishes, again beuatifully served, and we were truly spoiled for choice - outstanding were the fish & chips, and the shared 30 oz sirloin steak between two (including a glass of wine in the price) which was dabsolutely delicious.Although Warenford Village has few facilities, it benefits from being within 1/4 mile of the A1, and about 2 miles from Lucker, where there is a significant amount of rental property & a co8uple of expensive pubs & restaurants. All I can say to those who stay in Lucker, the 2 mile trip to the White Swan is well worth the effort! All in alll a lovely stay, great hospitality, and we will be back!

We had eaten at the White Swan once before and had enjoyed it, so decided to return to sample the Sunday roast. We had our dog and so reserved and sat at a table in the bar area. We weren't disappointed. A really good menu - was hard to decide! I had the roast lamb and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was great and atmosphere good. We'll be back.

Very warm welcome from the friendly staff. Beautifully decorated in an understated way, cosy, laid back bar area and lovely restaurant. The food was amazing, imaginative and stunningly presented. Will definitely return and highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

We chose this because of the reviews and the menu did look great. However the 'pink' lamb wasn't, the confit of pork was dry and the fish a minute or two over.Plus the most weird glass of 'Chardonnay' I've ever had.Food under-seasoned and well, dull.An expensive disappointment.

7 of us staying at the HPB site at Lucker Hall for the first time had pre-booked Sunday Lunch. The whole experience was great, warm welcome, lovely food from varied and interesting menu. Service absolutely perfect. The two ladies serving were aware of The progress of every table. Whilst we were asked once (quietly) if we were happy with food the service was not ostentatious as some places are now.Highly recommended.

A welcoming sight after the windy walk from nearby Lucker, this pub gave us a warm welcome, despite being quiet. The menu was excellent, and obviously cooked fresh we both had the Gamekeeper Pie, which was very tasty, in fact delicious. There is a range of local fraught beer, and Greene King beers from Suffolk. Portions were large and filling. Suitably fortified for the walk back, we booked to return for Sunday lunch before leaving. Recommended.

We have just enjoyed a spendid meal at the White Swan. Tournedos Rossini and Barbary Duck in the friendly bar restaurant. Greene King IPA and Rigg and Furrow real ales well kept before hand. Wood burning stove adds to cosy atmosphere. No sign of any dogs! That sounds like a ludicrous comment from Marekk833. Did they keep barking for hours! This is a lovely country pub that welcomes everyone - even the dog phobic!

We didn’t stay to eat because of several dogs in the bar with diners and loud aggressive barking. Dogs and food don’t mix, is it hygienic or acceptable?

My husband and I were staying in one of the cottages opposite and having read a few reviews, decided we'd visit on Sunday to get our 'Sunday lunch/dinner fix'. Dinner was delicious I had the scallops to start which were seared to perfection and my husband enjoyed his goat's cheese salad. We then had the roast beef and roast pork which were served with what looked like proper yorkshires none of that 'famous' frozen rubbish! It came with cauliflower cheese too which just tipped it into epic status in my humble opinion! The plate was huge and was filled to the rafters! So if you do visit bring a decent appetite!!! Our waitress was lovely and attentive and our entire meal was enjoyable from beginning to end! If you're in the area on a Sunday and you don't visit you need your head examined!!! Thank you for a lovely meal.

My wife and I stayed four nights at The White Swan and had a wonderful stay because:- Location - just off the A1 and 6 miles along the back roads to Bamburgh, and Seahouses. Cosy - log stove, oak beams and stone walls.Nice decor and very clean. Friendly - a great welcome from Andrew, David, Sandra, Lauren and Emma. The locals were friendly too! Great food and wide choice, both in the evenings and at breakfast. A place to return to.

We visit Northumberland regularly and have been so lucky to find this little gem. The Sunday lunch is the best we have found, the staff delightful, and the warm and welcoming atmosphere keeps us returning. It has rooms that are beautifully decorated and most importantly dog friendly. Highly recommend. Only 4 miles from Bamburgh and the coast
