Paid the cafe prices to sit in with kids and then spent 20 minutes surrounded by two families standing gassing - no attempt to manage the place from staff. Very uncomfortable fighting your way through non paying customers just to get to the toilet. Get a takeaway or go round the corner

Went for dinner at the 1601 Restaurant and left disappointed. No drink mats on tables, had to ask twice for cutlery, napkins and condiments, and food not as described.

. . . warm welcome, accommodating. We enjoyed our coffees and refreshments whilst doing research in a conducive environment. This is a lovely place and we love the smell of books! . . . a peaceful retreat on a Sunday morning with like-minded.

We were driving from Skye to Fort William and wanted to stop for lunch on a Sunday , in which many places were closed. I went on TripAdvisor and this pub was open. Authentic, cosy pub with a water view. Food was great, the Cullen skink soup delicious, as well as the fish + chips and the Pot pie. Great location too.

I called in here for a coffee on the way home from the airport and have been bounced by a demand for a £100 fine from Britannia Parking for missing the parking ticket machine, in the dark on a rainy evening. I won't be calling again.

First time visiting here and didn’t disappoint. Found it through Trip Advisor as I was looking for somewhere dog friendly in Greenock for a family lunch. Love the fact I can park in the car park adjacent as parking in Greenock is tricky. Especially as with two elderly relatives who can’t walk very far. Staff were really friendly as were the clientele. We were sat in a dog friendly area which was full of pooches. The owners dog was also in. They can get menu items also. We lived all of our food choices. Great homemade fare. I loved my steak pie and my partner loved his Philly Cheesesteak. We will definitely be back whenever visiting family down there.

Went in at 11.40 to be told i couldnt have a lunch menu until 11.45 I said thats fine by the time we pick what we want it wld be nearly 12. The server then stated that this was not allowed, however by the time she said this it was 11.50 so we could then get the lunch menu. The server then asked if we could put the buggy down as there was no room. No bother we said. She then came to take the order. My 2 grandaughters wanted sausages... no sorry we dont have any sausage. What cafe does not have sausage when it is clearly on the menu. At this point we advised we would go elsewhere. From start to finish the server was a jobs worth with no manners and we got the vibe that this small place is not child friendly, and is for the elderly only.

I really loved staying at the Royal Macintosh; this old hotel has alot of character. I just really felt at home here. The welcoming, and friendly staff made it feel as though l was right at home! The location was perfect, also! Just a stones throw away from the train station, and there are lovely shops in town. Front reception, was beyond welcoming! They were integral in helping me locate my lost £400.00 pounds, providing me with importsnt information, and advice, at just the right moment, allowing me unlimited use of their computer, also. And the breakfast was always excellent! Incredible, and friendly service always! Best stay here, on one particularly rainy day, because the huge, long window in my room, allowed me an awesome view of all the different birds, doing their incredible airial acrobatics, and seeing the rain pummelling the window, made me feel so cozy, cuddled up in my warm wooley blanket. And the towel heaters was a lovely touch, after an invigerating jog in the rain, as well. I am hoping to bring my family here, very soon! I highly recommend the Royal Macintosh, if you are ever in Dunbar! Lovely golfing, The lovely John Muir museum, a nice workout at the local pool/gym and walkingaround the lovely beaches, really made my stay at the Royal Mac, extra speciial. If you need ideas about was to see and where to go here, just ask one of the friendly staff! Cannot wait to come back!

We stopped by 4 Coo Wynd for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised. The chicken coo wing tenders were really nice—looked and tasted quite homemade. The onion rings were definitely homemade and added to the experience. Everything was simple, surprising, and good. Looking forward to next time!

Had a lovely lunch in Drift after a walk along Troon beach. The weather was gorgeous so it was nice to sit outside. The staff were friendly and service was quick. There is a good choice on the menu (also for dogs!). I had the Greek avocado with poached eggs which was delicious, full of flavour and very tasty. My husband had the brie, bacon and cranberry toastie which he also enjoyed. We will definitely be back next time we are in Troon.
