Went in at 11.40 to be told i couldnt have a lunch menu until 11.45 I said thats fine by the time we pick what we want it wld be nearly 12. The server then stated that this was not allowed, however by the time she said this it was 11.50 so we could then get the lunch menu. The server then asked if we could put the buggy down as there was no room. No bother we said. She then came to take the order. My 2 grandaughters wanted sausages... no sorry we dont have any sausage. What cafe does not have sausage when it is clearly on the menu. At this point we advised we would go elsewhere. From start to finish the server was a jobs worth with no manners and we got the vibe that this small place is not child friendly, and is for the elderly only.

First time we have spied this little beauty of a cafe. Walked in and was approached right away by the owner, asked how we were. This place is so clean, but for their own sake would advice to put suitable wipeable table cloths on. Tables are so nice, that constant spillage would ruin them. The girl was nice and took our order, such a variety to choose from. Prices are so good too, really reasonable. A The toilets are very clean and I would recommend giving this cafeteria a try. You won't be disappointed.

Nice little cafe close to parking and the beach. Friendly staff and cosy seating. Ideal for soup, filled rolls, cakes and coffee. Prices pretty much par for the course in this type of establishment.

I came in after walking through town wanting get out of the cold. Had apple pie and hot chocolate with toasted coconut. The hot chocolate was delicious as was the apple pie. The cafe has a very low key vibe with friendly staff. Seems like a good place to also grab a sandwich or soup. Those items being brought out also looked good.

I went in to request a take away toasted sandwich only to be met with “oh I’m not sure if she’s doing take away”. Then I was asked where I worked??? Does my occupation and place or work determine whether I can have a take away or not? I left utterly embarrassed and confused. There is a take away menu in the window so I suggest you remove this as you do not offer this option. I support local businesses but will stick to Cafe Ginger & Fullarton Cafe in future. You get a warm, friendly welcome there oh and a take away!

Friendly cafe that has a real buzz to it as people obviously enjoy being together and sharing over the delicious food provided. Varied menu, good sized portions and tasty food, what more could you ask for. Small premises but they provide well for those with limited mobility.

A big thank you to John at the Chatterbox for helping make my son's 18th birthday so special. We sent John photos of my son's motorbike and somehow he managed to replicate it perfectly in icing. Both model of the bike and cake looked fantastic and it was delicious too! Can't recommend him highly enough.........Thank you! Lesley and Ronnie

I would not recommend this cafe to anyone I witnessed appalling behaviour towards an elderly lady who has serious health issues her being refused access to the facilities staff were very rude the lady became distraught and visibly upset absolutely disgusting behaviour. I hope you never find yourself in the same situation. horrible establishment.

It is better to have a range of different options on the High Street and this (slightly) quaint but not old-fashioned cafe is so useful. It offers a good value relatively low-cost light lunch with good coffee and appears to have a regular clientele and should be around for years...Hooray!

We dropped in yet again on our day visit to Ayr yesterday as this lttle tea room has never failed us. Cleanliness has been commented on before and I can back that up. I am extremely fussy (my wife might say "too fussy!") regarding cutlery particularly being spotless and there's has always been so.

We visited the coffee shop to find it fairly empty which we could not understand when the food was very reasonable and good. My husband had the soup which was obviously home made and I had a banana and cinnamon toastie which came with salad, crips and coleslaw. Quite a plateful. The tea was good and we were offered a top up. My husband finished with an empire biscuit. The total cost was under £10. I would say this was extremely good value. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The Chatterbox is spotless. If you are in Ayr and would like a light lunch give the Chatterbox a try.

Visited this place yesterday 30th January on one of the wettest, windiest and cold days of 2016. There was only one other customer in the place which is a shame as it's a real treasure. I can only assume the weather put them off. The two ladies who run the place are great. They provide a wide enough menu to please most tastes and all food is freshly cooked. I would also like to give it top marks for cleanliness. Everywhere was spotless which makes such a pleasant change. i'll definitely be back and will bring the rest of the family as well.

Went with my wife and daughter for lunch, we opted for the soup and sandwich combo as it seemed reasonably priced, I i now know why. It was tinned soup and the meat on the sandwich must have been sliced by laser it was so thin. Sorry won't be back even if the food was for free. I can eat tinned soup at home!!!!

Popped in for some breakfast, after checking out the menu, I decided against the big breakfast, judging by the contents, it's anything but big, I wonder if they realise what you can get for the same money?, ordered a roll n sausage with potato scone, lady came back to say the butcher hadn't arrived, no sausage, bacon sufficed, the place is actually very nice, staff are friendly, the bacon roll was great, they just have to increase the amount they give or it will stay as empty as it was when I visited.

We called into Chatterbox in Ayr 29/9/14 & had very nice soup & round of freshly made sandwiches + pot of tea for 2 cost £9.98. Great value & had choice of white or brown bread with our sandwiches. The coffe shop is very nice & clean & their staff serving tables were most efficeint. I give this place 10/10 . They also serve cakes/teabead & do lunches at very reasonable prices. It is our 1st place which we stop off for our lunch being handy for bus staion & shopping center & 5 mins from the beach.

Myself and the Mr were in Ayr for the 1st time as a little romantic break. On day 2 of 3, we were a little peckish and were walking past this coffee shop. They had offers on scones and coffee till 4, so we popped in. Its a lovely cafe, tables are set far enough apart so that conversation doesn't drift from table to table. Table service is nice. I asked for 2 scones, 1 tea, 1 coffee. The lady who served us came back and said only 1 scone left - but as it was about quarter to 4, that's fair enough.I asked what was available as an alternative to scones and hubby took her up on the offer of banana bread - I got the last scone :D Both were lovely, fresh baked and tasty, coffee was fab, and the general ambience of the place was really nice. We will definitely be back next time we are in Ayr.

Wife myself and 2 grand kids visited. Both kids wanted beans on toast (which they had on a previous visit), but we were told they did not serve beans after 12 o'clock! Described on their website as being family friendly. Really?? All they did was lose custom to another venue across the road. Will we make a special effort to get there before 12:00 to sample the beans? Don't think so.
