Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway
18/04/2019: Zufällig ausgewählt und sehr positiv überrascht worden. Kurz zur Mittagszeit eine Kleinigkeit essen war das Ziel. Haben wir und zwar sehr lecker.
13/04/2019: Nice restaurant to have a lunch in. It’s a must go to if I’m in Moffat! Can be busy so make sure you book a table. Great food and fantastic service.

The Belters Bar

Jedburgh and District, Scottish Borders
17/04/2019: We went here specifically because of the trip advisor reviews on food. The food was great, we had burgers and drinks. The staff are friendly. Booking is highly recommended as there isn’t a lot of space and demand is high. Also, not going to lie, the decor in the pub is really needing attention, it’s very tired and a bit tatty, hence the 4 rather than 5 stars. But still recommended for good pub food.
05/04/2019: My wife and I went to the Belters last night to sample the curry menu, and as usual it did not disappoint , amazon flavours from start to finish and great value for money.

The Old Bakehouse

Tweeddale West, Scottish Borders
09/04/2019: Really cosy atmosphere - very friendly staff - delicious food - never fails to deliver - can't wait to go back
08/04/2019: Until recently I'd never been to the Old Bakehouse but had heard good things. Over the last month I've somehow managed to visit on two separate occasions and left underwhelmed after both. The premises are cosy and have a certain charm but positioning can be everything. Avoid the table under the stairs (a nutcracker) and those next to the ladies and gents toilets. The service is good, very quick. Quick enough in fact to have a three course 'done and dusted' within an hour at breakneck speed and somewhat 'factory-like'. The dishwasher clearly needs a service as our wine glasses still had the remains of their previous users lipstick. Portion sizes vary dramatically. Whilst a member of my party couldn't finish their burger I was left hungry after enchiladas which would have made an acceptable starter. Vegetable side orders are limp, minuscule, unappetising and for some reason coated with cheese. The potatoes wedges are nice however. And to cap the evening off why not a try a nice coffee....."sorry but we only have burnt filter coffee". Very disappointing but with very little local competition, and as it's clearly so busy I don't suppose there's much incentive for it to improve.

Cocoa Black Chocolate Shop & Cafe

Tweeddale West, Scottish Borders
19/04/2019: We pop in here for coffee once or twice a month when we visit Peebles. Lovely bright spotless cafe serving delicious cakes and bakes. Don't be put off if, like me, you are not a chocaholic as not everything is chocolate based. Friendly pleasant helpful staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. I definitely recommend.
01/04/2019: We had coffee and cakes here last week. The choice and originality on offer is amazing, along with the presentation and the taste! We tried a few different cakes and would say it was the best we have ever had ! !

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
19/04/2019: We ordered fish suppers 1 night and pizzas later in the week and both meals were superb! There is an obvious wait for the meals to be cooked fresh and they are always busy so just be prepared .
19/04/2019: This is the first time I have left a review on trip adviser but today’s visit was so funny I had to do this review. I will make it simple. We ordered 3 ice creams in waffle cones. When I was handed my ice cream you couldn’t see the ice cream as it was sitting inside the waffle cone. When we questioned the size of the scoop of ice cream The young lady that served us told us that it just fell into the cone.

The Fisherman's Arms

Mid Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
23/10/2018: We called in here on the last day of our holiday - such a shame we hadn't found it earlier in our stay. My sister and myself had the tomato and basil soup which was delicious. My husband had the open toasted steak and mushroom sandwich - excellent! We were served by a lovely girl called Finlay - she couldn't have been more helpful. Well worth a visit.
23/10/2018: Visited the Fisherman's Arms for dinner as a group of six during a weekend trip with some friends. The evening as whole was, as the title suggests, was a mixture of ups and downs. As we entered the pub, it looked busy and exactly as you'd picture the village local. We were seated promptly and given menus. Our waitress asked us for our drinks order, however, when questioned on what ales and beers were on tap she didn't know and had to find out. That was ok, but unfortunately it was a sign of things to come. She returned without a wine list, as requested by other members of our group and informed us that there was only 3 beers on tap, which was a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, wine and house ales were ordered as well as our food. After roughly 10 minutes, our waitress returned to inform those of us who ordered the ale that it wasn't ready and we had to choose something else. This was really disappointing as an already small list of beers and ales had just gotten smaller, with the other two not being overly appealing. Anyway, with the drinks orders finally out of the way, we waited for our food. The wait wasn't too long and what came to the table looked really good. However, once again there was a problem, one of the side orders had been forgotten and we had to eventually ask for the waitress to bring it out. Once we began to eat a silence came over the table, which was an indication of the quality of food. I had ordered the fish and chips, which were delicious. The fish was beautifully battered and fell apart when you cut into it. The only down side were the mushy peas that accompanied the dish. It was more like a pea soup, as the peas were extremely runny and not at all mushy. Everyone else seemed more than satisfied with their food and the consensus all round was to give it the thumbs up. It's a shame to give this place 3/5 as it could have been much better and I suspect we turned up when they were having an off day, but the little things add up and unfortunately it didn't make for a great evening.

The Capon Tree Town House

Jedburgh and District, Scottish Borders
15/04/2019: My husband and I visited this restaurant for a birthday meal and were certainly not disappointed. A warm and friendly welcome, knowledgeable staff, varied menu and great atmosphere. The bar area is gorgeous like an upmarket wine bar, the dining room is like being led to a private members area. I am a vegan and was given a choice of options from the main menu adapted to meet my needs, very few establishments are able to offer such a personalised service and it is the first time in years that I have enjoyed a full 3 course meal - the pink Prosecco sorbet and frozen berries was the most delicious dessert I I’ve ever had - all the food was delicious, exquisite even with a delicate blend of flavours that complemented each other perfectly. We will definitely be recommending The Capon Tree to others and of course will visit again on the next special occasion. Excellent value for money as well, couldn’t have had a better night out, loved this place.
14/04/2019: We visited on a chilly April evening but soon warmed up in the cosy ambience and were knocked out by the standard of food. Venison with haggis croquette, poached pear and lots of other delicate little flavours all married perfectly and we nearly ended up in a drooling heap after the fig and frangipane tart Although the meal was not cheap it was much less expensive than you’d pay for something of this standard in a city and was excellent value for money. Service was both friendly and efficient. A gem!

No1 Peebles Road

Tweeddale East, Scottish Borders
13/04/2019: We stopped off here for a quick lunch stop but only wanted a small snack. We received a lovely welcome and there was a great choice from a small cafe. Some lovely different choices and we shared the banana, bacon and marmalade sourdough toastie. An unusual combination but one that works really well. Delicious! The coffee was good quality and we’ll definitely go back. Looked like a good range of cakes and traybakes although we didn’t have room. You may have to share a table but with such a welcoming atmosphere i don’t believe it’s not a problem.
01/04/2019: It is wonderful to drop by a coffee/Cafe and find a high quality offer. It is just excellent. Food, coffee, service and ambiance. You won’t be disappointed.

The Hightae Inn

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway, 30-45£
27/10/2018: We were a family of 3 visiting the area. We purposely chose this restaurant given it's excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.
14/10/2018: Took our friends here as they were staying with us for a few days.We keep telling them how good the food served here is as we visit whenever we are holidaying in this area. We made sure they had three courses to ensure they tasted the excellent flavours served on each course. They now know why we "rave" about the cooking as they said it was great.Well done to Morag and they even said what a goood host Mark was!

Flat Cat Gallery

Leaderdale and Melrose, Scottish Borders
12/04/2019: Stop here if you want a light lunch, delicious cakes, all served by friendly smiling staff. There's also art work you can buy or just admire, also a gift shop at the back of the cafe. Will definitely return!
08/04/2019: Me and my mum come here all the time and I cannot recommend it enough. The food is superb (special mention for the fresh cream meringues), the staff are always friendly, it has a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and can cater for everyone. They also have a small shop within the cafe selling art and lovely gifts.

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders, >100£
17/04/2019: I visited Eyemouth with my mother and son. It is the first time we have been to Oblo. It was recommended to us by one of the locals. We were not disappointed the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I had the seafood pasta which was to die for. The seafood was so fresh and tasty. I would certainly recommend Oblo.
15/04/2019: First time in this bar/restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised, good selection of food and drinks with light entertainment from a live group, also the restaurant has a little delicatesan discreetly surrounding a section of the restaurant, with excellent different products to choose from should you wish to buy.

Alexandra Coffee Shop

Stranraer and North Rhins, Dumfries & Galloway
14/04/2019: We stopped in here for a wee coffee and cake break while passing through Stranraer. Nice home baking and a mug of coffee which was ok.
05/04/2019: Go in here regularly, nice home baking, lovely staff.Cosy cafe for a wee chat. Not a big place, but certainly a good place for a cuppa

Harbour Inn

Mid Galloway, Dumfries & Galloway
14/04/2019: Well quick 6 miles popped in for lunch great food great service and the local brew is lush... The steak pie was more steak than pie and the fish more whale... Both excellent... Staying for a few, more ales... Could.get messy!!!! Well worth a visit anytome
12/04/2019: Have stayed in Garlieston in campervan a couple of times and always pop in here for glass of something and food and never disappointed. Warm and welcoming for us and dogs, food is always great and just love the veggie options. Seafood always fresh and delicious. And q family run business too which is good to support. Highly highly recommend.

Masonic Arms

Dee, Dumfries & Galloway, <20£
18/04/2019: We received a warm welcome but the food ranged from lacklustre to downright dreadful.
16/04/2019: Another brilliant carvery meal at the Masonic. Place was heaving so plenty of others were enjoying it too. Food was amazing and service was quick efficient and friendly. Struck up conversation with 5 people at the next table and they were equally enthusing about their meal and the lovely surroundings of the beautiful new conservatory. Noticed a review saying service was slow and the place was grubby. In my opinion having dined at the Masonic lunch and dinner, mid week and weekend on so many occasions I have lost count( and I have to travel 35 miles to get there). I have NEVER found either of those comments to be even close to true. It is a gem of a place , well supported by locals and holiday makers alike. The chef is gifted and very affable too. The staff are attentive and efficient. Perhaps that reviewer was having a bad dream. Can’t wait to eat there again and chef Jimmy more power to your elbow Only problem I’ve ever had was choosing WHAT to have.

Cedar Cafe

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
15/04/2019: This is a cafe along the main road to Edinburgh. The coffee was quite nice as were the cakes. If I was passing again and needed to stop then I would but I won’t be making a special trip just to stop here.
29/03/2019: I've been here before and it's always been excellent but they now have a lovely little dog friendly room with a slabbed area where your furry friend can run free and not get squished by a car. Food and drink all good, coffee excellent and staff really friendly. What more do you need?
