Nice little cafe with pleasant simple surroundings, good well prepared food and a friendly feel to the place. Stopped with friends on a day trip and had soup, toasties, cakes and teas and coffees and all were delicious. Prices in line with other places but will definitely return here.

My second visit this week. Went on Tuesday to meet a friend, it was busy but we had coffee then decided to stay for lunch, soup and sandwiches...Yummy. Returned today, Friday after shopping with hubby. This really is a gem of a place, run singlehandedly by Darren? a friendly fella with a warm smile. Food is simple but quality and beautifully presented - cakes are lush. It's off the beaten track, but well worth searching out. It's obvious Darren likes a challenge, he's got the cafe ship shape, (You have to go through the magnificent beamed hall for the loo! ) now I gather he intends to open up one of the balconies in the hall as a reading room/library when he re-opens in the spring. The entrance is round the back of the hall!! ps The cafe will be closed from end December till 4th April.

Went with my family for some lunch but have been few times. We all enjoyed the food - empty plates all round every time. Quality ingredients and tasty menu options. The cakes are a particular highlight btw. Relaxed ambience; cool wee cafe. Dog friendly, which we are particularly happy about - pouch enjoyed the treats. Enjoyed the walk through the 100+ year old hall to the loos. Noticed the eco-friendly refills station. Plaques and bell from nearby churches of interest. Friendly staff and community atmosphere. Couldn't fault it! A hidden gem.

Loved this. Arrived late in the day so menu options were a little more limited but not a problem. We can’t have dairy however they had some good vegan options that covered this off. A vegan con carne and a ham sandwich with vegan cheddar and pickle. Much enjoyed. Look forward to visiting again.

This is a great quirky little cafe in a location which is just beautiful. Surrounded by large trees we could hear someone playing tennis nearby and with a bowling green adjacent it was simply a lovely setting. The owner was very pleasant and although we caught it on a quiet day, I know it can be the complete opposite. I had a piece of quiche and my partner had a filled roll - both were lovely and served up with very good coffee. Will definitely return!

Just had lunch at Jinty-B's in Thornhill, Dumfriesshire. Gorgeously quirky, comics wallpapering the cafe, great home-made toasties & cake, hot tea & coffee & everything is immaculate. Perfect for family groups & very dog friendly.

After a great morning walking in the Galloway Forest, we called in at the CatStrand. Wow, what a gem of a place.its a gift shop with interesting books and art. But the best surprise is the cafe. Serving the best haggis and baked potato ever! We have called their butcher to buy more haggis. They have a nice selection of local beers to wash down a haggis lunch Also, check out their entertainment evenings. We will be back!

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back
