Dropped in for a bite to eat on way to Scotland. Food was excellent, as was the service. Some of my wife’s favourite things are white chocolate, raspberries and scones, they had them all in one scone! Result. Well worth a visit if you’re travelling on the M6.

We were so looking forward to having a birthday lunch on 29th January 2025. We have previously had amazing meals on previous visits to Moffat. Unfortunately this time was a disaster. We were only offered the winter lunch menu which was not great. We both ordered steak pie assuming it was made on the premises. It was obviously not. Pastry was awful and lacked steak. It also didn’t come with any vegetables. Only chips and mashed potatoes. We did talk to a member of staff and she confirmed it was bought in and she would inform the chef. If we had known we would have gone to local butcher and cooked our own. So disappointed ☹️

Called in for a lunch and greeted by a lovely lady, who directed us to a little table in the corner. There’s a really lovely atmosphere in this place, the staff are very friendly and the lunch menu is varied. Our food and drinks arrived with a smile, we even received water for the table, with a slice of lemon. This is a wonderful place to meet up with friends or family, they even allow your four legged friends in too.

We visited Brodies for their New Years Eve menu and the service and food were exceptional. Absolutely 5 star! Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff - they were all super friendly and attentive. The Set Menu on NYE was £85pp and worth every penny. From the moment we entered the restaurant we knew everything was going to be fantastic. We will definitely be visiting again - highly recommend. Thank You to all the team.

Yesterday I attended a group Christmas lunch at Broadies restaurant. I have had many meals there over the years and the first thing I like is the genuine welcome. This time I was also impressed with the large table setting, candles , miniature Christmas decorations and real Ivy running down the centre of our long table. I really enjoyed my very tasty three course meal. The main was off the bone Pheasant. All the food had marvellous and delicate tastes plus the presentation was reminiscent of what one would see on a Master Chef TV programme. However, it had the added benefit of satisfying a person who had also completed a 3 mile group walk and hour before and was very hungry! Thanks to all the staff at Broadies in Moffat.

We were given a voucher for afternoon tea from our friends. This was our first visit to Brodie's. We received a lovely welcome from Danny. We were shown into a lovely lounge. This was a great seating area, with lots of privacy. Not squashed in like other places we've been too. Danny brought our huge pot of coffee and hot water. Then brought an absolutely amazing 3 tier set of tasty sandwiches, scones, cream, jam and delightful cakes. We thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. There was no rush and we had the loveliest of time. We would definitely recommend coming here. We will most definitely be back. One of the best afternoon teas we've had. Thank you

Second time visiting Brodies although a few years apart the service and quality hadn't changed, still excellent and worth full marks. Booked a table for Saturday evening and although they now ask for a deposit to avoid no shows, this was easy to arrange from afar and secure and I agree with the principle to protect small businesses..... Arrived early as we were staying in the town and shown through to the Gin lounge for a drink and to look at the menu ...... Asked then if we wanted to order early or wait until our booked time to order. We chose the former as we we'd not had lunch (i was trying to make sure i made it to the cheese board for desert but failed). My wife had the beetroot and goats cheese starter and really enjoyed the textures and flavours whilst i choose the Cheese Souffle, i mean WOW, this was perfect, rich and full of flavour. Main course was Chicken for my wife and Sirloin steak for myself, both cooked to perfection and very tasty ....... Never made it to desert (again) but the options looked lovely !! If you are in the area, deffo book a table and enjoy ..........

We fancied a Sunday Roast dinner and Brodies is the perfect place to get one! We popped in the night before to book, as we could see how popular the place was. Upon arriving at midday, we received a lovely warm welcome and were sat at a great seat by the window. We both ordered roast beef (pork was also available) which came with all the trimmings and a delicious gravy along with horseradish sauce. We had room for puddings and picked a delicious chocolate brownie and white chocolate & raspberry cheesecake. I had plenty of food but my husband wished he’d gone all out and picked a starter too. Highly recommended and we cannot wait to return on our next visit to Moffat.

A lovely cafe with good tea and food in the heart of Moffat. We came by for lunch on-route to Penrith and the relaxed stylish vibe fitted perfectly. Service was also friendly and on-point. We loved their good quality tea - very flavorful and fragrant. Food was a mixed bag - the homemade tart was alright, the sweet potato fries could’ve been better, the fish croquettes were good, though the lemon cake was too sweet IMHO. Nonetheless we had a pleasant time and would recommend it in a heartbeat.

I took a coachload of 31 gardeners to Brodies for a lunch of soup, sandwich, coffee and traybake and everyone was impressed by their efficiency and friendliness but more particularly by the delicious homemade soup, very thick extremely tasty sandwiches along with a selection of tempting sweet things. You know when you are onto a good thing when you see a restaurant with 'reserved' on the majority of tables BUT you get lucky and find a table. We had lunch at Brodies last year and barely considered anywhere else to go when we came back to Moffat. The food was good, but what we had seemed more memorable last year (?). The service was excellent, and the ambience was only spoiled by a toddler continually running through the dining area, followed by an old sibling as a minder. I'm surprised that nothing was said to the parents regarding this intrusion into all the other diners repast. Dog friendly classy joints are more common in Scotland but a welcome resource all the same.

I was starving so ate most of it but couldn't finish the last of the salmon. My son had the steak which was small but good. Sad to have to write this review. Have eaten at Brodies on numerous occasions and always had first class food and service. Attended for dinner last night and was extremely disappointed. Food was way below standard of previous experiences with basic starters. Mains had over reduced gravy which tasted burnt. Over salted sauce on fish. The desserts which are usually the star of the show also greatly disappointed. However possibly the worst element was the bottle of pinot grigio which was so acidic it was undrinkable. Raised the disappointment in the food and particularly the wine issue with the staff. Were advised that chef tried wine and all was fine. No comments on disappointing food. Offered complimentary coffee which we declined. Overall an abysmal dining experience from a restaurant which we have frequented on many occasions. Sorry Brodies but you have now just lost 2 loyal customers. Unfortunately the offer of a free coffee did not compensate for how poor the meal was.

We have dined in Brodie’s several times whenever we visit Moffat and have always had a warm welcome . Unfortunately this time we were met with a very rude young man who asked if we were ‘looking for something to eat ‘ then proceeded to tell us ‘they were too busy ‘ this was despite several empty tables and the sitting area being empty . Not the warmest of welcomes and our impression was ‘ we weren’t wanted ‘ maybe it was the rainwear and small dog that was not in keeping with their standards .its reassuring to know that in this economic climate some restaurants are able to turn away business , long may it continue for Brodies.

Great little restaurant, first time visiting and certainly will come back! Lovely staff and delicious food. I don’t normally review, but other reading the unfair 1 star review, I thought I would. This is a small family run business that can fill up in the evening very quickly, as I know I was lucky to get the last available table for the evening. Yes the person might have driven 7 hours, and yes the restaurant might appear to be empty tables, but as the tables aren’t turned at night, the restaurant was full, it isn’t the restaurant’s fault. I heard the waitress suggest to the customer to try Claudio's, and it was said in a polite, positive and helpful manner. So what if there’s a good banter between the staff and customers? I think the last reviewer shouldn’t have blamed the restaurant just because they didn’t get what they want! At least they got fed over the road! I really wish people would be more supportive to these small businesses rather than being dismissive, just saying.

I rate this a 1 star as we were turned away at 8 pm on a Saturday night after a 7 hour drive from Berkshire England, 3 hours before closing and 6 empty tables in view , no kindness or friendly tone from woman at the bar. She basically said if we are booked then we are booked and not taking any onen. Then I witnessed a customer cuffing a waitress in the side of the head in some friendly banter ? Was not impressed . Clearly not the place to come then ! The woman was dismissive and simply told me to try Caudios across the road … so we did! Busy as can be but welcomed us with warmth and friendly chat even 15 minutes before closing! Wonderful happy staff at Claudius! Great food and wonderful atmosphere at Claudios .. will never set foot into Brodies, as first impressions are everything!

We ate here as a party of 3 on the 11th November. Greeted warmly, sat in the bar area until our table was ready. Great wine and gin list, but there's everything else you can think of if that's not your thing. The rose wine was amazing 👏. We ordered our food, and got pork two ways, the cod and the vegetarian dish, all excellent and the portions are perfect. We had the cheeseboard, honey pears and ice cream for afters, beautiful. Although the cheese on the cheeseboard could have been a bit more varied, it was nice enough but seemed to be 3 cuts of the same cheddar and 1 blue . Bit odd. However, we would happily return and recommend. The staff and the ambience are perfect in this fabulous little place. 😍

Visited the Frothy this morning for the first & very last time as the cafe is closing. Whilst the cafe was comfortable the coffee wasn’t the best ever tasted and we were stunned at the price! Compared to other coffee houses close by it was surprising; could this be a reason they are not finding it profitable?

Just superb all round - the food [first and foremost] was fantastic! The vibe & atmosphere were spot-on - great music, decor, everything. Will be back for sure - gotta try that Malaysian Curry next! Had the burrito this time, which was awesome! And the Sticky Toffee Carrot Cake… Ummm… Can I have some more, please? Took me far too long to get my bum in the door - won’t be dilly-dallying about for Round 2, I can tell ya that!

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back
