Went there today to have lunch. I ordered sausage egg and chips. The sausage was browned but raw inside. The eggs were solid and swimming in oil. The chips were sitting in grease. I left it all. My husband had fish and chips which he left most of. My tea was cold so would not get stronger. When my hubby went to pay he was asked if we enjoyed our meal and he told the girl no and why.Her only response was £27.75 please. Even if it had been edible it was pricey. Also there was an Irish lad behind us talking on his phone, on speaker, and you could hear nothing because of him but no one asked him to be quiet for the sake of other customers. Cannot recommend remotely.

The View PIRSAC in Port William is a lovely spot that combines the charm of a local pub with the comfort of a cozy café. One of the highlights is the selection at the bar, including Tito’s vodka, which is always a good sign for those who appreciate quality drinks. The outdoor seating area is a great place to relax and enjoy the fresh air with views of the sea, making it perfect for a sunny day. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home. Whether you're stopping by for a quick drink, a casual meal, or just to enjoy the laid-back vibes, The View PIRSAC offers a pleasant experience. It's a great place to unwind, though be prepared for it to get busy, especially on weekends.

I called a few days ago for lunch. I had the small fish and chips with garden peas, and I couldn't fault it. It was lovely fresh fish that tasted like it had just been caught, and the chips and peas were just as tasty. Service from all the staff was great. If you're ever in the area, I would highly recommend you pop in for lunch.

The cafe / bar is very clean and well situated in the harbour area of this small village. The opening times are limited; it was closed Mon & Tue, not open until 10am on trading days and last orders for food were an hour before the variable closing times. Breakfast was good, coffee so-so, the cakes looked appealing & homemade, meal options were few and uninspired… beware of last collection / order times. The cafe trades to raise funds for the local lifeboat which should be borne in mind; it’s not a typical commercial eating establishment and the opening times, menu and way it’s run reflects that.

We have recently moved to the area and have frequented The View on numerous occasions. The food is of good quality and freshly prepared. The drinks are also of good quality and keenly priced. The staff are extremely friendly and pleasant and their attention to detail is second to none. If you are in the area give them a try. You won't be disappointed 😌

Best thing about this place is the location and it is stunning. However we were disappointed with the overall experience. The food portions were small (for a dinner meal) and we felt over priced - especially the fish platter. A slice of cake for pudding - £7! Overall we spent in excess of £70 which was too much for what we were given. It is an incredibly popular place - location - and the only real option in the small village. So go for a coffee enjoy the view and eat elsewhere.

Very over rated. Staff are pleasant but tables are pushed too close together and too small for more than 2 - likely trying to utilise available space. It is for some reason very popular- probably due to location which it is in a great spot. Food very poor. Portions not great and overall very over priced. We went because we were stopping locally and we know it's a charity so we wanted to give some patronage but we wish we hadn't bothered. Get a coffee and a slice of (very expensive) cake or an ice cream and leave.

What a wonderful surprise - very friendly helpful team of people. We came across The View when we were following the coastal route to Newton Stewart but unfortunately it was closed that particular day. We went to The View on the following Sunday. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table where there was a lovely menu - our waitress was Jenny who was very helpful and very knowledgeable about gluten free food. I had a gluten free crab and coleslaw jacket potato followed by a gluten free brownie - hubby had a ham and cheese toastie followed by a piece of apple pie and custard - we both enjoyed our food. Unfortunately we had to return home sooner than expected so we were unable to pay a second visit. We will return when next in the area.

I want to address those who give negative reviews - my wife Lindsay and I have been here many times, wonderful welcome, wonderful food, great view and all of that ..... so why do people give negative reviews to 1) a non-commercially run cafe - that profits go to the local lifeboat (NOT RNLI) that one day could save your lives - what kind of people are you? 2) It is not the Ritz or Savoy - its a locally run cafe where people work very hard to supply great food in the summer to lots of people and in the winter to us locals 3) It represents the heart of a very active local community and has a warm friendly atmosphere - to those of you who find it right to attack such a wonderful institution then I say "shame on you" WELL DONE THE VIEW - YOU ARE GREAT!

Seemed so nice when we arrived. Nice comfortable seats friendly young Lady served us. I ordered the Haddock, chips and peas and my wife the Wee board. Firstly my food was not the best lets say. The Haddock was NOT Haddock! It was Pollock may be. I only order Haddock where ever i go, and i know Haddock very well and this fish was not Haddock. The chips reminded me of the concrete chips we got at school in the early 80s. The peas were acceptable. My wife's food in her opinion was vile. Very greasy onion rings. Chips as hard as nails. The fish pieces were almost acceptable and so was the coleslaw. Its the first visit we had here and it will be the last. At £30 pound for this cheaply put together meal, you might as well go up the road to the Cock Inn pub and restaurant, it will cost the same if you order just the food but its 10 times better quality. We so regret going here as we were feeling very unwell for the rest of the night. Never again.

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back
