We've been visiting CatStrand for a couple of years now. We've seen some great bands here, such as Blue Giant Orkestar and Henge, and various others. It's an excellent venue for live music - for some gigs the seats are folded away and there's room for dancing. For others, it's seated. Also have attended the Burns Night Supper which was a really good night out with live music. And all that great stuff, before even mentioning the café and the best scones I've had, ever (other cakes are available...). Then there are all the million-and-one other things that CatStrand organises and runs and develops, it is a really big asset to the community, thank you CatStrand :-)

We decided to stop at New Galloway for a coffee on our way into the Galloway Hills. Catstrand seemed to be our only option and we’re certainly glad we popped in. New Galloway is a delightful (and smallest Scottish Royal Burgh) and has a gem of a community hot spot - Catstrand. Coffee and cake were excellent and it’s such friendly place with so much going on. Well done everyone!

Local residents and visitors are fortunate to have such an important amenity in New Galloway. Catstrand functions as a vibrant centre for the arts with a full programme of events throughout the year. There is a café open from 11 till 4 each day offering tasty light meals and excellent coffee and cakes. There are attractive gift items in the adjacent shop and lots of information about the area useful to all who visit. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this venue too highly.

We popped in to Cat Strand on the back of previous reviews on TA and weren’t disappointed. It is a very well designed and furnished place in an old school building and includes a rather good gift shop as well as an auditorium and various art works on the walls. Our prime reason for visiting was the cafe and although we missed the hot snacks serving slot (finishes at two) we enjoyed a pot of tea and a couple of excellent fruit scones. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Well done to all for what you have achieved here.

We stopped in here this morning, killing time on our way to the ferry, ended up pleasantly surprised by a real gem of a place. Both ordered a full scottish breakfast, which came with toast and tea/coffee included. Food was great and the value is unreal - absolutely huge pot of tea, loads of toast, really nice haggis, sausage, bacon etc. Staff were really friendly and the whole place had a lovely relaxed vibe, everyone chatty and having a lovely time. The real treat was the huge range of sweet treats - i was full from brekkie but I am an unstoppable sweet tooth so i bought a biscoff rocky road and a banoffee tart as takeaways to have later. Can happily report both were delicious! If you find yourself in Newton Stewart be sure to visit Bridgend Pantry, you'll be glad you did!
