22 Bar & Grill

Ayr West, South Ayrshire
04/03/2019: It has changed a lot since the days of the Carrick lodge. Nice decor and a better layout . Great service and friendly staff . Everyone enjoyed their meal well worth the money. It was very busy but the staff were on top of the service. Would definitely recommend and will be back .
02/03/2019: Visited tonight for dinner. On arrival we were met and asked if we had booked which we had there was a table of 8 of us. We were shown to our table. The service was fantastic and nothing was of trouble to any of the staff. Drinks were delicious and the food was fantastic. We all had the two course special with a cocktail which was only £15. Most places I’ve had offers in the portion sizes are generally smaller than normal but not here the portions were big. There is absolutely nothing I could fault about tonight’s evening out from start to finish it was fantastic. Would highly recommend so much so we have booked again to go back on the 4th May as there is a soul night on then and we can make a night of it along with a fabulous meal and a cocktail for £15. Well done to everyone at the fox and the willow. Thank you. X

Weston Tavern

Annick, East Ayrshire
17/03/2019: We visited for the first time and enjoyed an excellent lunch. The menu choice was varied, the food was excellent and the staff were very pleasant. I would recommend if you are in the area. Parking was easy.
05/03/2019: We visited tonight for a family meal. 4 adults and 2 kids. Have been a few times before and never had a bad thing to say. It was grill night so 3 of us ordered from the grill menu, can't fault anything. 2 steaks and 1 gammon steak, all cooked to perfection. My husband loves his steak very rare and it was perfect! Rare and hot in the center. Gran couldn't finish her fish n chips the portion was so big. My 8 year old son is very much a 'foody' and he had the king prawn tagliatelle that he absolutely loved, for the first time in a long time he didn't manage to finish because it was such a generous portion but he got it in a tub to take home for tomorrow. We were served tonight by Grant and Coleen who were both welcoming and helpful. One portion of chips was missed but grant sorted it straight away and gave us extra to compensate. Couldn't recommend the Weston enough for family dining. Lovely staff and excellent food!

Puffers cafe

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
03/02/2019: I was visiting puffers cafe with a group of friends consisting of 4 women and 2 babies under 6 months of age. We were sat for about 20 minutes and no one had taken out order yet, which we were ok with as it was quite busy. We had asked one of the younger waitresses if we could close the blinds slightly at our window side table because the sun was in the babies eyes, she said she would get someone to come and close them about ten minutes later we again asked she advised us that the blinds were for decoration and didn’t actually work I had said to her that the other table had their blinds lowered so she again said she’d get someone to come and close them, 5 minutes later and sun was still in babies eyes we looked around to move table and there was no table so my friend got up to close the blinds they were half way closed when a scream came across the cafe shouting “NO NO NO DO NOT CLOSE THEY BLINDS THEY FELL ON A WEE BOY” my friend sat back down and another young waitress came over and apologised explaining the woman who had shouted had told her they had previously fallen on a child, my friend said “well that was totally unprofessional shouting across the cafe we had asked twice” she apologised explaining that the girl we had asked was training she asked us if she could move us tables and managed to get one for us, as we sat down got the two babies in high chairs this woman came barging over to us and started shouting loudly in my friends face saying “I’ll have you know that’s not unprofessional what would have been unprofessional is if the blind had fallen on the babies” my friend advised that the way she was behaving right now was unprofessional and she shouted again “this isn’t unprofessional” the full cafe stopped and was shocked customers were shaking their heads in disbelief and the people next to us even stated they would never be back. My other friend who had arrived first and had a drink went up to pay and one of the staff couldn’t have been any nicer and apologised for her behaviour saying she was going to have a word with the manager but we were already going elsewhere. My baby has never witnessed shouting and neither has my friends baby I am shocked, appalled and disgusted at this woman’s behaviour to feel the need to shout at a group of girls with two young babies is rediculous. If the blinds are an issue there should be a sign up saying not to touch the blinds and to be perfectly honest they shouldn’t even be up if they have previously fallen on a little boy. It was my first time there and I will never be back! One member of staff ruining it!
31/01/2019: We went during a visit to the Maritime Museum, the Puffers building houses some interesting exhibits and ship models in an area prior to entering the cafe. The cafe has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and it is table service which is nice. We sat in window seats which on the day of our visit afforded lovely views out to a snow covered Isle of Aran. Food is home cooked, tasty and great value for money. The cafe seems to be a place for local mums to gather with their babies and children and the cafe has a little toy corner for the little ones. We enjoyed our meals a lot and would return if in the area.

John Carrigan's Eating House

Hamilton South, South Lanarkshire
12/03/2019: This is a very cheery eatery on the outskirts of Hamilton. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Menu was ordinary though, but well cooked and well presented. Prices were good.
12/03/2019: We have always loved eating here and have praised it to everyone who has asked about it, unfortunately after tonight I will not rush back. Our drinks order was wrong, our main courses were served before our starter, when we did get our main the lasagne was so over cooked we couldn't cut it with a steak knife so sent it back, by the time we had a fresh one delivered everyone else had almost finished there dinner.

Casks Restaurant

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
19/01/2019: Situated within Arran distillery this cafe is upstairs with great views out the window and it's laid out spaciously with an airy vibe..the ladies are lovely and so helpful and friendly..the food is scrummy and good portion sizes too..try the Arran gold cake, it is delectable and they also do a Arran gold latte which is delicious..make a day out of your visit & pop in after/before your whiskey tour..
01/01/2019: We went to the cafe after the tour and tasting. It was clear that people were going to the cafe just to eat and not because of the distillery, and we found out why. Excellent service and food. Highly recommended.
