The Kintail Bar Food in Highland

We were driving from Skye to Fort William and wanted to stop for lunch on a Sunday , in which many places were closed. I went on TripAdvisor and this pub was open. Authentic, cosy pub with a water view. Food was great, the Cullen skink soup delicious, as well as the fish + chips and the Pot pie. Great location too.

Il ristorante dell’albergo in cui si alloggia è sempre una grande scommessa, ma viste le limitate alternative proviamo a scommettere. Un bar fornito, con un’ampia scelta di gin locali, un menu tipico dove qualcosa di buono si trova. La guancia brasata è ottima, la zuppa del giorno scalda l’atmosfera. La direzione della cucina è un po’ ottusa e poco incline alle indicazioni orarie, fa un po’ come gli viene. Però l’ambiente è accogliente e al piano superiore si riposa in pochi minuti. Consigliato per chi cerca pace.

Sono andato con la famiglia diversi anni fa, visitando la Scozia ed eravamo diretti al vicinissimo castello di Eilean Donan. Abbiamo pernottato con cena e colazione al mattino riscontrando cortesia spontanea da parte dei gestori e del personale. E' situato proprio su un lago, locale piccolo ma bello e di sera il suo bistrot si riempie di persone che dalla vallata vengono a degustare l'infinita varietà di birre che offrono. Mai visto un bancone con così tante spine !!! Consiglio a tutti di fermarsi, ma prenotando in anticipo dall'Italia, perchè è proprio a misura d'uomo.

I loved this place. It's very underrated but can't figure out why as its a wee gem. We sat in the wee alcove, looking out over the Loch, and it was just lovely. The staff were very polite and accommodating. I was a pain in the neck as I don't like peas, so they gave me some deliscious roasted broccoli instead. My daughter and I had fish and chips, and my husband had venison sausages with a lovely creamy mash. I had intended to have a pudding but was so full that I could barely finish my plate and didnt manage the dessert. We have been staying on Skye for a week, and the food here was significantly cheaper than on the Isle itself. I would recommend stopping in here for a meal rather than driving past or take a wee sojourn off the island and pay a visit!

What a shame it was awful. The braised Beef was mush on the plate with mushy burnt broccoli (apparently roasted)… So sad as I was hoping it was going to be lovely. Won’t be recommending to our holiday guests.

Many thanks for looking after us for dinner following our wedding at Eileen Donan Castle. While we were a small group, we were socially distanced and the service was amazing. Friendly staff, and the food provided was enjoyed by all. We will be sure to visit again.
