Popped in without a booking, they had a small area in the front first come first serve. We had a pint at the bar while we waited for a table to open up. Bartender was super friendly, food was nice! Was a bit crowded in the front, but maybe with a booking you could go into the main restaurant and see live music. Would recommend, had a nice time overall😊

We came here because it had local live music, which I love. The bar is quite small and the staff really friendly. The music good... but... so unbelievably loud! Set up more for a large hall than a small pub. There are only about 5 tables in the bar (more outside) and I'm pretty sure the guy had his amp turned up to 11, spinal tap style! Would have loved this as acoustic guitar singing in the corner, but unfortunately we had to go out to the garden as it was painfully loud. Beer good and the bar staff were great.

Was walking by and popped in for an impromptu boiler maker and there was a band playing, great atmosphere and helpful staff! After a bit of a chat booked a table for the coming Sunday for a meal and listen to their jam session, amazing atmosphere, fantastic music, decent food and staff super friendly. Can’t wait to visit again thanks all! Also it’s dog friendly, what’s not to love.

We recently visited MacGregor's in Inverness and had an amazing experience! The food was outstanding - we ordered the Warriors, Samurai Burgers, and Halloumi Fries, all of which were delicious. The portions were generous, and the quality was top-notch. Washed it all down with cold Cokes, perfect! But what's even better is that MacGregor's also caters to vegan dietary needs! They have a great selection of vegan options, making it an excellent choice for groups with varying dietary requirements. But what really made our evening special was the live performance by Schiehallion. Their energy was infectious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the music. The only drawback was the limited space to enjoy the live performance, but that didn't dampen our spirits. Overall, we had a fantastic time at MacGregor's. The combination of great food, vegan options, and live music made for a memorable evening. We'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun night out in Inverness!

Not a good experience. First off, stood at the bar for quite a while the staff were standing around chatting each other up about nothing to do with their job. Next the venison burger was horrible very salty and dry and everything was over priced. Also had to ask 3 different staff members to get the basics, napkins, salt, pepper and sauce. The one good thing were the muscles. Additionally one of the customers had a dog in the restaurant that would not stop barking. Staff did nothing. Dogs are fine as long as they are well minded. Staff should have asked them to go onto the patio. Don’t waste your time and money here.

What a night! My mother, sister and I had an incredible evening at MacGregor’s starting with the Whiskey Experience followed by live music at the bar. Stuart, our host of the whiskey experience, shared a great amount of history paired with accordion music and 5 whiskies to taste. After the experience, we joined the bar upstairs where it was lively, friendly and fun — the bartenders (Alistair!) were an absolute joy and we had the best time. It was everything we hoped for!

A wonderful spot to grab a pint, or to try 3 main courses and dessert because you can't decide on what to eat. The barstaff/waitstaff were so cool, and kept up the banter between clients. The food (fish and chips, steak and ale pie, scottish salmon, and sticky toffee pudding) were all perfect. Not 1 complaint about anything. We went to this restaurant under the advice of our host and we have absolutely no regrets! At first glance the restaurant is very lively with a large bar and local music, but if you reserve a table you have access to another somewhat hidden room. The second room is much calmer and more intimate. Both atmospheres are great. For the food it was delicious, we had 2 fish and chips and halloumi with polenta (divine vegetarian starter). The food at McGregor's was not very special. We had high expectations from all the reviews and other comments, but for us this did not correspond to reality. It was also strange that one had not yet ordered and the other had already received the food. I don’t normally write negative reviews but our experience at MacGregor’s tonight was truly disappointing. We have booked dinner at MacGregor’s for our one night in Inverness based on their main menu online which had traditional Scottish dishes and plenty of gluten free options. When we arrived, we were presented with a small lunch/late night menu and when we asked we were told that they don’t do their main menu on a Sunday. The menu we were presented with was very limited with a few types of loaded fries and burgers as well as a few mains. The gluten free options on this menu were only the loaded chips. I raised my concern that none of the mains were gluten free and I was told I can pick something from the actual main menu and they will accomodate me, so I picked the vegan burger. 10 minutes later I was told that the vegan burger beef pattie had bread crumbs in it which I questioned how could the vegan burger have a beef Pattie in the first place but the waiter just repeated that it’s not gluten free (despite being marked as gluten free on their main menu). They ended up making me a chicken breast which was chewy and completely flavourless so I could not eat it. My partner had a fish and chips which as undercooked and flavourless as well. For drinks we ordered a Prosecco and a beer, only to be told after waiting for over 15 minutes that they don’t have the Prosecco and the beer came out even later. Finally, when we went to pay and surprise surprise, the vegan burger and Prosecco (which we never had) were both on the bill… overall an awful and disappointing experience 😞

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Earlier this evening I had the pleasure of dining at McGregor’s Bar in Inverness, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Jess, who was incredibly welcoming and set a friendly tone for our evening. She showed us to our table with genuine hospitality, which continued throughout our time there. Our server, Lewis, was a young man brimming with enthusiasm. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he went above and beyond to ensure our experience was nothing short of fantastic. His dedication to excellent service truly made our evening special. We dined in the back bar, which features a stunning stone wall that adds to the cozy and inviting atmosphere. A wonderful band played in another part of the bar, and the appreciative crowd there enhanced the convivial vibe of the entire place. The food at McGregor’s Bar is superb, showcasing local produce with great skill and attention to detail. Each dish was beautifully presented and even better cooked, with flavors that were perfectly balanced. On a previous solo visit, I tried the bacon and cheese burger, which was delicious. This time, with my family, we sampled a variety of dishes: Highlander Burger: A haggis-topped beef patty that surpassed even the excellent bacon cheese burger. Southern Fried Chicken Burger: My son loved it, and the taste I managed to sneak was fantastic. Pulled Chicken Ness Side Dish: My daughter enjoyed the flavourful chicken, a refreshing change in a world of often bland poultry. Haddock and Chips: My wife raved about it and wouldn't let me get close enough for a bite, indicating just how delicious it was. We ended our meal with a large portion of sticky toffee pudding, a truly great finisher that left us wanting more. McGregor’s Bar excels in every aspect: quality food, genuinely friendly and attentive service, great Cromarty lager, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys great food and a wonderful dining experience. Thanks to Iain Stanger for the recommendation, hopefully this review will pay that forward and lead to more people getting the great experience we got!!

The food was decent but nothing to write home about. I appeciated it more when I mixed the crust and meat together as it was very uninteresting to the pallet individually. The servers acted in a rush all night though there was an abundance of them and hardly any patrons. I felt bad when I tried to get their attention and was completely ignored. I also was not sure who was serving me. I think my original server must've not been taking care of my table since someone else checked on me and I managed to grab the attention of a entirely different girl to grab the bill at least fifteen minutes after I had finished eating. The place itself was very interesting and clean, lovely pub vibes and might be better for a drink and a social hour than a bite to eat.

We had a reservation. Reserved tables are in a separate section, very quiet, with odd music playing in the background (covers of popular music in a big band style) that doesn't match the vibe of the place. The "reserved" section just doesn't have the energy of the pub. To start, we shared an appetizer: haggis bhaji. Surprisingly good. I wish I could say the same for our entrees. We had three: steak and ale pie, sausage and mash, and the "Warrior" burger (venison with a black pudding on top). The best was the sausage. The steak pie was ... fine. The burger was terrible, overcooked, dry, and chewy, and the toppings of poor quality. For dessert, we tried the cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, both good. With dessert, we wanted to have some of the specialty coffee drinks on offer, but were told that they weren't making coffee that night. We picked this place based on other reviews. I'm not sure if we got an off night or what, but it did not live up to those reviews.

The 4 stars was a tough call. The staff was 5 stars (super kind and helpful), food 5 stars (loaded haggis fries were fantastic), and the ‘legendary Sunday session’ was fun. My main gripe is that unless you’re one of the lucky 4-5 people who chanced upon the right table or bar you don’t get to see the musicians, and then there’s not much more room inside the place to hear the music without it going through a wall or being muted as you sit even farther away on the patio.

Used to come here a few times a year and it was lovely. Owned I think by an older person and had their family helping them out. Food was always good. Great views and lots of lovely gifts to buy. Came back to find the cafe and shop has new operators (the owners still own the place). The food choice was much less and I’m afraid I didn’t like the cake - too heard. The coffee however was excellent. Most of the gifts have gone too. I’m afraid it’s just lost something in the change. Work to do to bring back the sparkle.

We went for takeaway before getting ferry to Stornoway. Ordered an egg roll and bacon and egg roll. On opening when we got to our car we could not believe how poor they looked. Toasted stake rolls, overdone fried eggs and overdone bacon. Will not go back to this cafe again!

The traditional Scottish breakfast was served in a large portion—definitely filling for me. I loved the sausages. It was my first time trying haggis, and it was fine; definitely worth a try.
