i give it 3 stars because my food was amazing, (the parmasean and walnut crusted haddock)…like maybe best meal i’ve ever had, but my friend ordered the mussels and lobster which wasn’t so nice. she received half a lobster, which smelled of ammonia. we assume it was the second portion from someone who had ordered lobster earlier. was fearful of food poisoning for a week. but honestly, the haddock and gnocchi i had was out of this world, and a great size portion for the price. would go back, but would err on he side of caution with the shellfish

We had a lunch booking but found it difficult to find as there is a hotel called The Garison and also an old restaurant on the water called Crannog. Once we arrived, the restaurant was really nice inside with lots of interesting artwork on the walls. There were some members of staff that were enthusiastic. However, there was one person who wasn't very helpful or polite. The food was really delicious but could easily be considered quite pricey. The specials board offered 250g of langostines for £28, which i ordered. The server came out and checked if the price would be okay, as they brought out 2 langostines at 340g. We politely declined. The Hake with chorizo and prawns was out of this world! Really fresh and well balanced! We were the only people there at lunch but this didn't affect the dining.

The food and service were very disappointing. We were waiting for our starters for an hour, but instead they brought our main course. The table was booked at 7:30, and our starter was served at almost 9 pm. In the past, we enjoyed Garrison West restaurant and ate there frequently. It's unfortunate that it's now Grannog@Garrison West, not just Garrison West restaurant.

Table for 1, I asked hopefully... by the fire be okay ? said the beautiful, blue eyed waitress. So began a great meal at Garrison West. Began by savouring the creamy, Cullen Skink with warm crusty bread. Next up was the Rock Bass from the packed specials board. Served with creamy tatties and scallops it was hastily devoured. All washed down with the GW own lager. 40 pounds all told and well worth it. Excellent restaurant - many thanks

A gem in Fort William! My partner got one of the specials. I forgot what it was called but the cod was coated in a delicious crust. There were mushrooms, vegetables, butternut squash, and a ham + mushroom tortellini (? I forget). My partner said it was fresh and delicious. As for me, I got their popular fish and chips! I can see why it’s so popular too. The chips were crispy but as I bit into it, it was softer! The haddock was coated in a light batter that was crispy and not overwhelming. The peas were also a nice touch! Lastly, we shared a Korean Glazed Pork Belly, which came with king prawns and sesame kimchi. The pork belly was so tender and easy to eat. It melted in my mouth! The king prawns and kimchi were also delicious, but the pork belly was the best!

We went to this restaurant last night, as a party of four, since we were going to stay in Fort Williams just one night we decided to go for seafood and possibly the best seafood restaurant in town. We booked for 8 pm, in my opinion the food was overall really tasty, we had 4 starters and 4 mains, I did enjoy all my food, my girlfriend had the fish and chips and thought the fish was too salty, however I didn’t try it so I couldn’t say. I found the prawns slightly overcooked but apart from that the experience was great and we were happy we choose this place! Paid the right amount for seafood and drinks. Defo recommend it :)

Ate dinner here on Monday 16th September with 2 friends celebrating our completion of the West Highland Way. Booked following a local recommendation & excellent Google reviews. They helpfully moved our booking back an hour as we were running behind on our walking schedule. Dinner was fantastic - both quality and quantity - my seafood (smoked salmon) starter was probably my best ever and my Italian friend rated her seafood tagliatelle very highly. Fresh ingredients. Incredible food. Quick, friendly and very professional staff. Prices are a bit higher than you might expect, but the quality makes up for that tenfold. Excellent choice of wines. Every dish is composed and cooked with love and passion, and you can taste that on the plate. Both the smoked salmon tartlet and the hake with king prawns were incredibly tasty and super fresh. The dessert (a caramelized filo pastry with mango/lime leaf cream) was not too sweet and complemented the meal to perfection. Also, it was nice to finally find a place where deep fried food is more of an exception than a rule. (Most) Scottish food is tasty, but becomes repetitive after a few days. Most bars/restaurants serve the same old classics every day. Dining at this place was a very welcome change. This restaurant serves plates of happiness. Don't miss it when you're around, you won't regret it!

Top location! Located in the city of Fort William in an old stone house. Lovingly rustic furnishings. The staff is super nice and attentive (we said we wanted to share a Cullen Skink soup and were served the portion divided into 2 bowls! Great!). The food was an absolute highlight of our trip so far. The best restaurant in Fort William bar none. The scallops were super fresh and perfectly executed. The combination with Jerusalem artichokes was a marriage made in heaven. My wife's salmon was delicious. I don't fancy salmon but I tasted hers and it was outstanding. The monkfish scampi are innovative and amazingly good. My 7 year old son, normally a bit fussy with his food, also liked the monkfish and the salmon. The service was good and the decor of the restaurant is understated but elegant.

All of the mains were praised by our group, and we loved the choc tart for dessert. Great beer selection and a good, interesting and well priced wine list. The nicest place in our experience in Fort William. Fantastic and super friendly service. Excellent food. We had some truly spectacular tagliatelle "allo scoglio" and a really interesting salmon on a bed of rice and peas (dish of the day). To finish, a tasting of typical cheeses with jams. Average bill (£30-40 per person). Super recommended if you are in the area.

Really recommend this place. A little more expensive than others but the environment is very nice and the food excellent. I took the mussels with garlic cream which I digested easily, the sole and fish were good as was the baked squid, only the cullein skink I found too strong and I preferred it in other restaurants. Really recommended. A plus: hand cream in the ladies' room. The restaurant is located in the pedestrian area. There is paid parking on the seafront, then you can cut inland from the streets. A piece of pedestrian area is covered by arcades and you won't get wet in case of rain.

Before the departure time of the Caledonian Sleeper, I had an early dinner, as I was not hungry after eating a lot in Mallaig at lunchtime. The choice was a glass of white wine, seafood tagliatelle and an after-dinner cappuccino, and although I wasn't hungry, the tagliatelle was very tasty and I finished it. The only downside was that the staff did not seem to pay much attention to their seats, even though they were still open for dinner at a time when there were few customers.

The food was really delicious - superb plump mussels, tasty fresh oysters, delicious soda bread and crab salad and smoked salmon, gorgeous peach Melba. There is a sweet little garden outside and interesting pictures to look at inside with a bright but cost atmosphere whatever the weather in the conservatory space. Nice clean well equipped toilets. Happy to let us share starters and mains at the same time with our 8 year old. One starter, two mains, three oysters, beer, gin, and a single pudding came to under £130

We went in on the Saturday. They said they always have a little space for walk-ins but were now full. So we were first in the queue for when the doors opened the next day (5pm on a Sunday), but then they said that they weren't available for walk-ins until 6pm). So we experienced the restaurant just not any food, as if we had come back at 6pm who knows what they would have then said. But frustrating as we were waiting in the rain. Based on a friend's report, it's fine if you definitely have booked.

Have I never ever paid £65 and walked out of the restaurant to buy a frozen meal to eat immediately! Yes, I did at this restaurant! The food was brought to the table after 70 minutes of wait and I have already lost my appetite by that time. The food ingredients were good quality but had no taste at all. Do not recommend it! Go for a takeaway fish and chips and you will still win!

We had the most delicious meal at Crannog Garrison West. The fish was fresh and delicious, and we loved the chocolate millionaire dessert, which came with an orange purèe, dark chocolate and ginger ice cream, and not too much caramel. If you love seafood then this is place to visit in Fort William. The food is excellent, great specials on the day. My favourite are the oysters, they are fresh and reasonably priced. The service is brilliant, we were asked if we had any allergies, my partner does, and they made sure the kitchen team knew and that was really good to see. Couldn't recommend it more!

It has to be 5 out of 5! Not an expert of oyster but the local one is surprisingly light (very little of the taste of minerals) and easy. The Oban lobster and mussels are one of the best I have ever had. The freshness of the seafood is unbeatable, coupled with the chef perfectly timed and cooked, the dish is simply an art. The restaurant is very popular so you will have to book in advance. I tried to make a reservation for dinner few days before but got no luck and I have booked for lunch eventually.

We had the pleasure of having dinner at a second excellent seafood restaurant in the Highlands within 3 days after our initial experience on the Isle of Skye. The langostinos and oyster starters were as fresh as they could be with the succulent sweet meat. For mains we had the Hake with prawns, and the Sole with asparagus and potato dumplings, both prepared in different ways, very flavorful. For dessert we had their special of the day, a bread budding served with ice cream and cardamom infused apricots: would have had a second order, it was that delicious. Wait staff was polite. The place has a relaxed, even celebratory, vibe to it. Not cheap but well worth the food quality: for 2 of us with 2 beers included it came to €110.

One of the best meals we’ve had recently! Locally sourced and deliciously prepared seafood. I’ve never had anything quite like the Thai dressed oysters. We booked a table in advance online, and I’m glad we did! They’d hung up a sign saying their tables were all booked for the evening just as we arrived.

What a fantastic meal. The service was brilliant with really friendly staff. Our food was delicious, prices were good and the atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely. I would highly recommend Crannog at Garrison West.

Visited today and ordered 2 drinks and 2 steak pie dinners. Service was fine but we could not eat the food. The meat was inedible. We couldn't cut it never mind chew it. The young waiter returned it to the kitchen, returned to apologise and agrred with us. Then he said there will be no charge... ....... really. Why would we pay when we had no food. Left and went elsewhere.

We went for takeaway before getting ferry to Stornoway. Ordered an egg roll and bacon and egg roll. On opening when we got to our car we could not believe how poor they looked. Toasted stake rolls, overdone fried eggs and overdone bacon. Will not go back to this cafe again!

Popped in here recently on a trip through Wick to Dunnet Head - Got a cheese & tuna toastie and a latte which were both excellent. Owners were really friendly and the price reasonable considering the location - Have a feeling they could charge 2/3 times the price - being on the NC 500 - but choose not to. Will certainly return.

Came here for breakfast in the summer and really enjoyed it so thought we would go again today. Got a table quickly as there was about five spare if not more. The coffees took 30 minutes to come out then the young girl chucked down the coffee tray, spilling one, didnt say anything and ran off, which led up to a mix up of drinks which resulted in partner not enjoying theirs. I did mention these issues to the girl who served us when paying but she kept saying sorry they are busy, which i mentioned there was alot of people that arrived after us that received there orders before us. Very disappointed 😤
