I really loved staying at the Royal Macintosh; this old hotel has alot of character. I just really felt at home here. The welcoming, and friendly staff made it feel as though l was right at home! The location was perfect, also! Just a stones throw away from the train station, and there are lovely shops in town. Front reception, was beyond welcoming! They were integral in helping me locate my lost £400.00 pounds, providing me with importsnt information, and advice, at just the right moment, allowing me unlimited use of their computer, also. And the breakfast was always excellent! Incredible, and friendly service always! Best stay here, on one particularly rainy day, because the huge, long window in my room, allowed me an awesome view of all the different birds, doing their incredible airial acrobatics, and seeing the rain pummelling the window, made me feel so cozy, cuddled up in my warm wooley blanket. And the towel heaters was a lovely touch, after an invigerating jog in the rain, as well. I am hoping to bring my family here, very soon! I highly recommend the Royal Macintosh, if you are ever in Dunbar! Lovely golfing, The lovely John Muir museum, a nice workout at the local pool/gym and walkingaround the lovely beaches, really made my stay at the Royal Mac, extra speciial. If you need ideas about was to see and where to go here, just ask one of the friendly staff! Cannot wait to come back!

Booked the back room for a meal and drinks for my 30th birthday with people I work with. The food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it! Special mention must go to the staff that were on that night, the girls who served us were amazing and so helpful! There was also no issue with us all paying separately for what we had. Must also mention that on the lead up I had to make some alterations to the food order as people cancelled or changed their food options and this was not a problem and the royal macintosh was very accommodating! Will definitely recommend and be back again!

We thought we give them a try again at lunch time. Food was not very exciting. Staff was not making us feel welcome. Staff was busy chatting with other staff and did not bother attending the customers. We were the only ones when we arrived and also when we left. We felt like we were disturbing their quiet afternoon. It’s a shame because it used to be a great place but it looks like the caring staff has left.

I stayed for just one night and it was a perfect location for the train station and town. The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I appreciated the toiletries in the bathroom. I was allocated room 10 which has a great bay window and the room is very large. However, it is above the hotel front door and every time someone came in or out of the hotel the front door shut noisily which I could feel in the room. The bedroom door rattled and even the bed shook. This became really annoying as it happened a lot during the evening until around 10.30pm and then started again around 7am. I mentioned it at check-out and the staff member seemed surprised saying it was the most popular room and no-one had ever mentioned the room shaking when front door shut. Based on my experience, I'd be surprised if no one else had been bothered by it. The issue of being in room 10 with the noise of the front door is why I have only given 3*. I had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both of which were tasty. The vegan burger was tastier than it looked (see photo) and could've done with more than a piece of wilted lettuce in the bun to accompany the burger. The addition of some salad on the plate would've been nice. However, I couldn't fault the taste I would stay here again but not in room 10

Stayed three nights here on a golf tour with a group of friends. We were made to feel very welcome. The rooms, whilst fairly basic were comfortable, with team and coffee in the room. We had one dinner and three breakfast. Both the service and the food were very good indeed. A very convenient short walk from Dunbar Railway Station and just five mins walk into town

I stayed three nights as part of a golfing trip last week. The rooms were perfectly acceptable, clean and reasonably well equipped. We had one dinner in their restaurant, which was excellent and breakfast each day. Breakfast was good too, with a small buffet and an extensive cooked meal choice. The staff were very good indeed and made us feel welcome. Thank you.

Staff could not have been more helpful. We arranged a club awards night and hotel were able to accommodate and provide tasty hot buffet, at short notice, in their cocktail lounge area. Friendly service, excellent night.

Food is really basic. Burger & chips doesn't even come with a side salad. It's like a teenager plated the food up using minimum amount of ingredients. The steak was cooked well, the chips tasted odd, not sure if it's the oil they use. Again very basic grub and not worth the price. The burger sauce they smoothed on the bread bun is dreadful

We were very well looked after by Amanda. Asked for recommendations and we weren't disappointed. Would return for a meal there. The starters we felt were a bit on the small side portion-wise but the steak pie and chips was fab. Very tasty. My companion enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding which was the only dessert made in house.

We had a lovely overnight stay here. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Rooms are very big, clean and with lots of good amenities. They even throw in biscuits for the tea, coffee and hot chocolate. They are nice with the little details that way. Very good location too with the beach and high street on your doorstep. Lots of nice pubs and restaurants around too. Dunbar castle in walking distance. Nicest dog friendly place we’ve stayed in so far. Would come back and definitely recommend :-)

We're on holiday in Dunbar this week and have had two meals at the Royal Mackintosh: a three-course from the menu and the Thursday night steak deal. We've found the food delicious and beautifully presented and have been pleased that there has been a gluten-free pudding option for my husband. It's also great to enjoy food that has come from local suppliers. The staff are pleasant and friendly, and the dining room is quiet. Basically, the restaurant has ticked all our boxes, and we'll certainly return if we visit Dunbar again.

Recently visited the Royal Macintosh while holidaying in Dunbar, would have liked the Steak night on Thursday but fully booked so Friday it was. The hotel is quite dated (as most hotels are) and the gents toilets need some attention but that apart clean with sanitisers available if required. Warm welcome and prompt service. The wine we chose was not available and replaced with a bottle not even on the menu, which was both clever and enjoyable. Pleasant atmosphere, staff were polite and the food was good. Very pleasant evening and good value for money we would definitely return and recommend

Popped in on the off chance Wednesday afternoon 21/07/21 for lunch and drinks. Brilliant choice even though we didn't know before hand. The steaks was absolutely delicious, if I could make a slight change it would be they offer a garlic butter sauce to go with it, and peas instead of salad. The staff was so lovely & accommodating. In such hard times we didn't feel they was understaffed like most places, they have the best of the best, thank you ladies you was so welcoming. We highly recommend you pay a visit. Can't wait to return

Booked a table outside at the Royal Mackintosh on Saturday.. What a fabulous place to go for a few drinks.. Excellent service from very approachable, efficient, friendly staff. I wasn’t sure how to use the App but the staff were very helpful and kept me on the right track.. My friends and I tried the Gin Surprise Cocktail Pitcher which was fantastic. Everything very clean, hygienic and well sign posted re restrictions which was very re assuring as it was our first time out since lockdown.

Firstly let me say this would not have been my first choice due to poor service by bar staff on previous occasions & due to various issues on my companies Xmas party , thus my partner keeping this destination up her sleeve.Firstly a special of 2 steak meals with a bottle of wine for £25 , mysteriously after weeks of external advertising appeared £28 on the menu , over marked by a felt pen.Secondly, what was advertised as Balmoral Chicken with bacon turned up in front of me as a thin butterfly steak with a bacon rasher & a daud of haggis on top covered in peppercorn sauce , which ironically disguised the actual size of the chicken & also misguides the diner as chicken balmoral is haggis cooked inside a chicken breast . Sadly , this spoiled my visit to this place & apologies to the waitress who was on the firing line. The meal was lovely & well cooked & presented but NOT value for money . Nowadays , I appreciate that competition is fierce with people having to tighten the money belt strings , but offering what they did at a ridiculous price is not the way to encourage me to come back here anytime soon.Desert was lovely too , (sticky toffee pudding with ice cream)But , very minimalistic for the price.Disappointing!!!!

We visited Lucas on Sun 25 Aug and 30 Aug frequently attend here on both occasions I had to return my main course as they were both barely warm 1 was pizza the other mushroom pasta the waitress was apologetic and said this would get heated up in the microwave. Another couple who were sitting at the next table had to wait an eternity for their meals we had our main course & our dessert before the couples meal arrived as they had already asked waitress where it was and was told kitchen was busy the couple had been more than patient. I am unsure if the chef has been changed the food seems to be not to the usual standard. Not once has the waitresses when having your meal if everything is ok! This should come as standard.. very disappointed. Therefore after another disappointing visit today it will be sone considerable tine or not at all when we will be back.

Passed this Cafe several times and always wanted to give it a try, definitely be the first and last, was a bit surprised to see no prices on display but ordered 2 breakfast rolls 2 coffees and scones anyway, the price at the time I thought was rather steep but just let it go, but just been on my online banking and noticed had been charged even more than was told , just does not justify at all what was bought and the quality did not justify the price either have tasted better, very disappointing

The Crown and Kitchen in East Linton had good trip advisor reviews, so we decided to stay for 1 night on our journey to eastern Scotland. Although there is no car park, there was plenty of on street unlimited parking near to the Inn. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, and we were shown to our beautiful contemporary room by a very helpful member of staff. Rooms are next door to the bar area, and so quiet. There was a wide choice of dishes for dinner, including fish and vegetarian options. Breakfast was very good. There were fresh berries and yoghurt and a range of cereals, as well as cooked options. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and the whole place was well cared for, light and welcoming. We will stay again when we are in the area, and can recommend it without hesitation.
