A really nice pub with lovely staff. The haggis burger was fantastic! The selection of beer and spirits is very large by German standards. It's best to order a few northern pales, which are poured with muscle power. It's really worth seeing 🤩 Dogs are welcome here. There are still large tables on the second floor, but right next to the kitchen

We actually attended this establishment twice, the first time the Service was great very attentive, the food however was mediocre at best, hearing the chief cuss out member of staff was very off putting and could clearly be heard in restaurant, the second time a heavy set older woman was reprimanding a young member of staff to verge of tears infront of customers is completely unacceptable, would not recommend and won't be back.

A good pint of Guinness & nice food served by friendly & humorous staff. A new pub for me on my travels & I expect to visit again later in the year to warm myself by their fire while supping a pint (or 3!). The inside bar is good & quite "old school" i.e. main bar with small snug, the well sheltered outside seating area is fab in good weather with nice views to the harbour & sea.

Stopped here for drinks and dinner and was pleasantly surprised. On the day we were there, the kitchen was closed until five, but as soon as that time came around, our order was taken and when the food arrived it was very good and tasty. The menu has a variety of dishes and the prices were reasonable. We were able to sit outside on the patio and both the staff and the locals made us visitors feel welcome. About halfway between the harbour and High Street we are glad we chose here for dinner.

I really want to like this place. It is in a lovely spot near the harbour with an outdoor terrace. It has a ‘proper’ pub feel with a wee alcove, an open fire and sometimes live music. It serves pub food which is pretty good. BUT, the service is often SO actively unfriendly. Today as we asked if they had a table for food they were so acutely unwelcoming that people stopped talking at the bar to listen in. We had to sit outside where the smell of a large tables cigarette and cigar smoke was deeply unpleasant. If you can see past the often-unfriendliness you can have a nice time here but you have to be thick skinned!

We visited on a sunny Saturday recently. We were told that our little girl couldn't have a glass of milk by one lady who was quickly corrected by another. After a walk around town we decided to return for an evening meal. My 9 year old was holding a small tub of ice cream when we entered to enquire about a table for food. This seemed to enrage the aforesaid barmaid who announced food cannot be brought into the premises. Fair enough but there's a manner you can deliver such info in. We quickly left and went elsewhere to a much friendlier welcome. Nice pub but some customer service training would go a long way here. We won't be back.

So I enjoyed a couple of nice beers, had a tab, and paid with my card upon ordering my final pint. All OK or so I thought! Then, once I’d exiting barmaid caught up with me and said ‘did you pay!’ YES, I replied - not happy with this, I then had to prove on my phone that I had paid, no apology either. Please ensure your card payments are monitored before embarrassing customers, thank you.

This is a lovely pub, sometimes playing folk music and with an open fire. It sits above the harbour. I’ve eaten here several times and the food is on an axis between ‘quite nice’ and ‘not very nice’. The atmosphere still just about makes it regardless. The staff are on an axis between ‘really friendly’ and ‘sharp and unwelcoming’. The friendly ones just about make it

No stars as the food was the worst I have ever had in my life. No words to describe the solidified blob passed off as mash! It was served with a MUG of tinned peas poured all over the top. DISGUSTING!!! Hard nose manager is devoid of all manners Indignant that I complained, she said she 'has never had a complaint before'. ( then read all the reviews then). The starter made me feel sick and when I mentioned it, this woman replied that she likes it..( thick goo jelly poured over a salad) Worse, this woman (said she owned the place) served a customer who had a small dog sitting on top of the table. I mentioned this to her and she replied that she never noticed the dog on the table. Really? As you served the food? Dogs were jumping up at me as I was trying to eat. Meal was def the worst I have ever had and I felt sick. A mug of tinned peas poured on the meal? Hard nosed manager giving me lip when I complained. Awful and avoid.

Popped in here after a cold walk on Easter Day 2023. VERY dog friendly. We only came in for a drink before heading for a pre booked meal. We could have eaten here as the food looked really good, home made pub grub. The bar area is surprisingly small when you see the size of the building, but it's really cosy and oldy worldy. My sort of pub, with a fine selection of ales, lagers etc. Staff and locals all really friendly. There's a nice front outdoor seating area with glass 'fence' to keep the breeze off - it was still too cold in the wind that day so we went inside. Thank you.

This is kind of the quintessential small Scottish pub. You walk in, it's immediately clear everyone inside is local, know each other, and have for years. But they're also really friendly and make you feel at home. We dropped in for dinner after a tour of Belhaven brewery, and couldn't be happier that we did. On holiday and popped in by for a drink. I asked if I could have a menu to be told “kitchen is closed” I asked if upstairs was open and was told this was separate so I asked if they were serving to be told “bookings only” I asked if I can book to be told “kitchen closed”. I went back outside to have my drink. 10minutes later the couple sitting next to me got a menu? Kitchen opens at 16.30 they told me. The barmaid came out and took their order. She did glance over and say do you want a menu?? I find it hard to understand why she didn’t tell me that the kitchen opens in 10minutes? The barmaid came back out and took our empty glasses looked at me and said “take your feet off the seat”. My foot was resting on a metal bar. I found her extremely rude and unfriendly. There are plenty people out there in need of a job, if she doesn’t like her job she should go do something else! We left with a rather bad taste in our mouths thanks to this person. Five stars for the product ! The pastries and bread are fabulous , if you like an acidic bean coffee you’ll like the coffee , not to my taste . but that’s just me. No atmosphere to speak of. They have signs up to ask customers to not touch the produce and wait to be served. That’s absolutely fine, however they open the paper bags with their hands ( sticking their hands right inside the bags) instead of using tongs ( food handling 101) and don’t use tongs at all for the bread . Even if their hands are clean it’s about perception. They jump on people who accidentally pick up the bread , one woman looked very uncomfortable when she was told off . When I asked the staff member not to use her hands to open the bags ( defeats purpose of using tongs to pop pastries into bag) she threw the bag down and rolled her eyes, and was very rude. The staff need some food hygiene and customer service training . We ate-in both times and also took things away. We won’t go back tomorrow because of the attitude of this staff member . Over two days we spent £41 Loved, loved the food
