Lovely proper pub down by the harbour. Always has a couple of well kept fairly local ales on.

Quaint small pub hotel..we arrived at different times.. all 20 of us .for a well deserved break... taking over the whole pub on a quiet Saturday...food and service was spot on..deffo recommend..

Great place for food and drink, staff friendly and very attentive, very busy when I was there with visitors and locals alike. Would definitely recommend this establishment and will hopefully return soon

Walked in to a mousehole of a pub, people sitting at the bar blocking - had to fight us way to order, everyone stared presumably cos we weren’t locals - walked straight out! I thought the Scots were friendly folks - obviously not after a few beers on a Saturday afternoon!!

Lovely cozy little bar next to the harbour. Didn't have food but it smelled really good! Friendly service and dog friendly too.

This has been my local for nearly 20 years. Great food at a reasonable price and a good selection of guest ales which change regularly. Lots of banter and open mic night on a Wednesday. Lots of historic photos of Dunbar's harbour along with wooden panelling and a cosy atmosphere makes it very popular with visitors.

No stars as the food was the worst I have ever had in my life. No words to describe the solidified blob passed off as mash! It was served with a MUG of tinned peas poured all over the top. DISGUSTING!!! Hard nose manager is devoid of all manners Indignant that I complained, she said she 'has never had a complaint before'. ( then read all the reviews then). The starter made me feel sick and when I mentioned it, this woman replied that she likes it..( thick goo jelly poured over a salad) Worse, this woman (said she owned the place) served a customer who had a small dog sitting on top of the table. I mentioned this to her and she replied that she never noticed the dog on the table. Really? As you served the food? Dogs were jumping up at me as I was trying to eat. Meal was def the worst I have ever had and I felt sick. A mug of tinned peas poured on the meal? Hard nosed manager giving me lip when I complained. Awful and avoid.

Tasty food, friendly service. Good old fashioned pub with good old fashioned pub grub. Good atmosphere. What's not to like!?

Couple of visits now. An exceptional, wee, very traditional pub. V cozy wee bar and snug next door. Ootside sitting area. Have not tried the food. 35ml measures so what's not to like?

We were looking forward to a delicious dinner, but were very narrowly turned away, even though only two other guests were eating there.

A "proper" pub. Sell good beers (didn't have food). Thursday night is traditional Scottish music night. Very enjoyable indeed.

Had a vegan burger which was very basic with absolutely nothing on it but the patty...

Had gammon and chips. Absolutely brilliant. The gammon was huge. I'm a big eater and couldn't get through it. Great place, nice people, good atmosphere highly recommend.

After parking my motorcycle near the castle I got chatting with a local who recommended the steak pie, and it was amazing. Service and food was very good, reasonably priced and I’d say better than what’s in the high street.

Proper pub. Good cask ales. Friendly staff. Open fire. Does fund raising for the RNLI (lifeboats) hence the name. Looking forward to trying the food next time.

Dark and dingy pub, had tasteless steak pie with watery gravy, bland chips and the puff pastry lacked the puff. On leaving my clothes smelt of grease. Needless to say I will not be back.

Well worth a visit! Had a lovely meal here, the Belhaven hot smoked salmon with potato salad with mustard dressing was to die for! Followed by scampi and chips cooked to perfection. Belhaven Best and Ossian cask beer was very enjoyable too. Will definitely pop in again when we're down that way.

Great place for food, excellent menu especially kids meals. Chose only because dog friendly which it certainly was. Will definately come again

Popped in here after a cold walk on Easter Day 2023. VERY dog friendly. We only came in for a drink before heading for a pre booked meal. We could have eaten here as the food looked really good, home made pub grub. The bar area is surprisingly small when you see the size of the building, but it's really cosy and oldy worldy. My sort of pub, with a fine selection of ales, lagers etc. Staff and locals all really friendly. There's a nice front outdoor seating area with glass 'fence' to keep the breeze off - it was still too cold in the wind that day so we went inside. Thank you.

We popped in a couple of times while visiting Dunbar, service good, atmosphere good. Staff good prices good. They do food but we didn't eat here. Outdoor area and upstairs restaurant.

Great atmosphere is a very authentic pub experience. Friendly staff serving food in the bar or upstairs in the restaurant. The Volly‘s is situated close to the beautiful old harbour and has a compact outside space weather permitting.

This is kind of the quintessential small Scottish pub. You walk in, it's immediately clear everyone inside is local, know each other, and have for years. But they're also really friendly and make you feel at home. We dropped in for dinner after a tour of Belhaven brewery, and couldn't be happier that we did. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. If you're in Dunbar, go here even if it's just for a pint.

We visited on 27th september . I had the eyemouth smoked fish and my husband had the gammon . We really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere aswell . We did go back the following evening and were hoping to try the steak pie but they had a function on so meals weren't being served . We hope to return next year

What a lovely afternoon at the aggectionately known Volly to hear traditional Scottish and Irish music outside in the sun with a shandy and my fave stepdaughter while others were crammed inside. But I snuck in to get a picture of the musician. Lovely pub with a long history in Dunbar. Always worth a wee stop in.

On holiday and popped in by for a drink. I asked if I could have a menu to be told “kitchen is closed” I asked if upstairs was open and was told this was separate so I asked if they were serving to be told “bookings only” I asked if I can book to be told “kitchen closed”. I went back outside to have my drink. 10minutes later the couple sitting next to me got a menu? Kitchen opens at 16.30 they told me. The barmaid came out and took their order. She did glance over and say do you want a menu?? I find it hard to understand why she didn’t tell me that the kitchen opens in 10minutes? The barmaid came back out and took our empty glasses looked at me and said “take your feet off the seat”. My foot was resting on a metal bar. I found her extremely rude and unfriendly. There are plenty people out there in need of a job, if she doesn’t like her job she should go do something else! We left with a rather bad taste in our mouths thanks to this person. Thanks to her you lost out on a meal for 3

Very helpful staff. Clean and tidy, menue was adequate with Gluten free options food was good.

They make you think they are super dog friendly, but the dogs are apparently too disgusting to bring to the bathroom… I was told off after bringing my dog up there because he doesn’t like to be left without me, I usually bring him to the bathroom in other bars without any issue but in this place it’s “unhygienic” , like the bathroom in public places are so clean.. not impressed and that made me feel very uncomfortable. So we left shortly after that. My friends vegan burger didn’t have any toppings on either, just bread and the vegan patty..

Loved it - was visiting relatives in Dunbar and we had my wife's birthday meal there. Was served by a lovely young lady. Great atmosphere and selection of food & drink.

A tiny and cozy traditional pub with a Thursday evening sing-a-long! Delicious and hearty food, local ales and whiskies, lots of locals enjoying an afternoon libation. It’s a favorite.

Ordered fish and chips fish was dry and chips were under cooked,handed back and complained and nothing was done about it No interest from the woman with an attitude Have eating here before and the fish was great Disappointed with the food and the manager or the person in charge we spoke to

Friendly local pub with a decent menu and good beer. Nice outdoor seating area, not very big so gets busy on a fine day. Would be nice to see some daily changes to the menu as when you've tried the excellent seafood pie and the wonderful smoked haddock you've not got any surprises left if you don't eat meat!
