Coffee lounge in East Lothian

Had a lovely lunch today with my mum and sister . 2 panini and 1 freshly made soup with bread . Excellent. Such a lovely place to eat . Great menu selection They open at night which we need to try . Highly recommend

It was our first time in the Coffee Lounge. The meal was delicious, the serving was plentiful, and the service was exceptional. The ambience was lovely, very well set up and clean, the staff were very nice. The lounge needs no advertisement as it's very popular through word of mouth. It's a gem of a place tucked away on the High Street. It's well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed. I'd say best call to reserve a table, although you can walk in, and it's BYOB. Food was ok but extremely overpriced. Service was a miss. Didn't see anyone for about 15 minutes at one point. There was kids who must have belonged to the owners screaming and running about, not great when you are trying to enjoy your dinner. Wouldn't go back

Randomly popped in on way past. Rolls were cracking and the waitress (didn’t catch her name) was really friendly. Definitely recommend

Came with family for dinner, everything was fantastic!

Went for breakfast , two people and was overcharged £5 on two meals ended up paying almost £28 for breakfast for two! Good quality but won’t be back, overpriced.

The coffee here is great, I always have milk in my coffee or latte, but I had a black coffee and it was delicious, I normally can’t drink it black.

We went in for breakfast, had the menu's plonked silently on the table as we sat down and then left after 15 mins when the table next to us who came in 10 mins after us had their order taken within 2 mins, not 1 member of staff spoke to or acknowledged us other than to give us menu's, it was not busy if it had been we would have been more understanding.

Lovely food. Pleasant service. Note this is a byob restaurant experience. Turkish food and burger menu. Large portions.

I would like to start with the positives service was great, our server was lovely & the meats were good On seeing the Facebook posts the mixed grill looked to die for so that’s why we had to go and try it out We ordered the mixed grill for 3 persons Although there was enough meat and it was lovely We feel we lacked rice&couscous to accompany the meats aswell as breads & traditional sauces I will post the photos as you can see there are strips of (tortilla wrap) as it seemed On arrival we were surprised with a starter which was brought over (nice touch) but not to sound ungrateful we were disappointed a plain heavy dough bread like sour dough or something and a few dips (which were lovely) On receiving the mixed grill it looked outstanding until you really looked at it no pita breads for the meats no salad just a pile of onion & a pile of red cabbage & no sauces when we asked for sauces I.e chilli sauce We were brought over a sweet chilli sauce which just doesnt accompany this meal and a burger sauce which was just a ridiculous suggestion (I assume these sauces are to accompany the lunch time cafe menu) On asking for bread we were brought the same little heavy dough loaf as we were presented for started nothing that you could put your meat into or wrap it up in to eat Lovely meat and a lovely service but unfortunately we won’t be back to dine for dinner, expensive meal in a small town

Arrived at 12 sat until 12.40 no service there were only 3 tables used the members of staff in kitchen laughing joking and using phone despite still not being asked when what we'd like to drink. Absolutely disgusting the looks also directed at us as we got up and left

Freshly decorated and friendly. The name is perhaps a bit misleading as the emphasise was more towards cafe style food than specialist coffees. This has become my go to for a coffee when I'm in Tranent.

We dropped in here while waiting for our MOT. Breakfast served by a cheery, friendly waitress. Great bacon and egg roll and the coffee is excellent.

Great coffee and cakes, helpful staff, really good service

Quite a big cafe with a good varied menu. Not a long wait for food to come out from the kitchen. Food is well presented and tasty. Table and chairs very sturdy and your not cramped in either. The toilet could be nicer but all in all was very nice. I would definitely return.

Closed down. Nothing there anymore. For toilets please continue to ASDA, nice and clean.

Faboulous food great portions coffee fab

We are just back from holiday and to fish it off we decided to go for breakfast. 6 breakfasts all Delicious and hot. Defiantly worth a visit

Not been here since the start of the pandemic. Good food and large portions. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced too. Well worth a visit, booking would be advisable if a larger group or at peak times. Decent coffee too.

Very nice lunch of cheese burger and a large pot of tea. My child had a hot chocolate , marshmallows and cream which she thoroughly enjoyed. Excellent friendly and polite staff

I've been to the Coffee Lounge many times. The food is very good and the staff are extremely friendly. Sure, mistakes can be made occasionally, but we are all human and staff always rectify any problem. And it's the only place in the area to get a decent omelette!

Take to long will never go back in . I know get busy but some of the staff were standing looking round there selfs

Masks not worn correctly by staff. Covid guidelines not followed. Did not feel safe. Cannot fault the food though, was lovely.

Pricey for what it is - I got french toast with bacon and all I got was to slices of normal bread and 2 rashers of bacon. Was definitely not worth the money Gave it 3 stars for the staff being friendly

A rude business owner told me he had no space since all his tables were booked from 12. I asked him to check for the person I was meeting. He said they hadn’t booked… but I knew they would have. I asked to wait at one of the tables that was not booked until 1pm…it was then 1150. He said he wasn’t serving me. That’s a shame because , following my business meeting, I’ll not darken his door again nor will I recommended this business.

Arrived at 3.45pm for a bite to eat and was turned away by a member of staff because cleaning was starting soon for a 5pm close. Shouldn’t advertise that you’re open till 5 if you stop serving people over an hour before then.

Really enjoyed my Mocha and take. It would be easier if I'd known it was cash only as I was going to chip and pin luckily my sister in law was in the shop so she paid it for me. Saved me a trip to cash machine. Thanks Wilma. Next one is on me.

Dropped something off in Tranent for repairs so thought I would pop in for some food and a coffee while I waited. Food was great and so was the Coffee but the nice quiet ambience was unfortunately disturbed with two of the staff behind me having a nice wee argument.

Love this place good food, good prices, what more could you ask for. The menu is varied and well set out. The atmosphere in the place is wonderful. They serve all day so get your self along where it's for a coffee and a cake or something more substantial. Well worth a visit

Friendly. No coffee 20 mins before closing, or sofas (slightly odd for a place named the Coffee Lounge). Average pie.

Relaxing, brilliant breakfast options and indeed other food on the menu. Love the cakes, coffee is superb, the additional Biscoff is always 'scoffed' as needed. Love the beans and haggis and could stay there for hours: (sometimes I have and do.)

2 waitresses, not very busy but if I wanted a second cup of coffee I had to go to the counter to order...then why have waitresses? Sat for well over 30 minutes with an empty cup in front me. I was in Tranent for a meeting, needed some where to work before hand. This is really the only coffee shop in Tranent. If they'd ask if I needed anything they probably would have got at least 2 more coffees out of me as I had work to do. Next time I'm going to Tranent I'll stop at Starbucks before I leave Edinburgh. The bacon & brie croissant was really nice

Stopped in here whilst passing by. I had one of the fruit smoothies which was delicious and a great size too. My husband had a scone and a cuppa which he commented was great too. Looking forward to going back to try out some other items on their menu.

Popped in here after a long walk. Good selection of food and drinks. The staff were very friendly. Food was really nice and served quickly. It is quite a dark cafe and was a bit smokey too. Would advise to site beside the window.
