Ordered coffee and toast the server was polite but disinterested in everything. Asked for a round of wholemeal bread and marmite. No marmite only jam OK , sat at table and toast buly arrived 1 piece of white toast no knife and cold. Noticed he youn gent serving failed to give anyone who ordered toast or Teacake the means to butter the bread. Resulting in everyone having to go to the serving bar to help themselves. The knifes available were all stained and appeared grimy. Table cleaning is hit and miss and the Almond croissant are a joke hard and unappetising and had to leave it. Called in as my sister recommended you. Won't be calling again. No excuse for tardy service even if it is busy.

We stayed here for a stag weekend and the staff were great, the atmosphere was great, and we were super impressed with the food, especially breakfast (veggie brioche - trust me). The hotel was a bit wonky but the beds were comfy, the biscuits were topped up, and the showers were hot. We'd definitely stay again. Thanks Gales!

While staying at the quay hotel over Christmas for a 3 day package we ate most meals in the restaurant. On Christmas eve & Christmas day evening there was a large buffet with various hot & cold options that you could help your self to as much or as little as you wanted. All was very well presented, all freshly made & tasted good. The breakfast was help your self to the continental selection that was on offer along with the toast, then you order your hot food & drinks with the waiting staff. This seemed to be freshly cooked using good quality ingredients & was good & is so much better than a buffet style hot breakfast. Christmas day lunch we had to pre-order our main course beforehand, we were greated with a glass of champagne on arrival & our starter orders were taken, as some of our party didn't like the starters on offer the head chef prepared alternative starters for us. There was then a gin & tonic sorbet to cleanse the pallet prior to the main. The main courses turkey or fillet of beef that we had were again well presented & side dishes of vegatbles were brought to the table there was a lack of roast potatoes however more were brought to us. The helping was ample. This was followed by a selection of desserts again which were well presented freshly made & tasted good. This was then finished off we coffee & mince pies in the lounge bar, the pastry was on the thick side. The boxing day meal was also very good with a selection of meals for each course which were all presented well & tasted good & the portion size slightly reflected the amount we had eaten over the previous days which was fine as we were still full. The waiting staff were all well presented & couldn't do enough to help during our stay even though they had given up there Christmas with their families to look after the residents. The food was all of a top quality as expected of a 4 star hotel, if you have a special occasion & are in the area I would recommend eating here.
