Booked a table, arrived on time, they cook fresh which is fine don’t mind a little wait. Everything was being packed up which I totally understand as was a late booking 10:15, advertised until 10:30, however after 50 minutes still hadn’t had a freshly cooked breakfast because the woman in the kitchen (which you can see from the table) had major attitude with the waitress and forgot to cook half of the breakfast. If I could have had a bowl of cereal then might have been something but it was put away. Then when I asked about the breakfast and why people that came in later had eaten and left, they said there was an issue with a poached egg pan. I’d have happily had scrambled or a fried one if they had said 30 mins earlier. Has majorly put me off and can say I won’t be coming back, will just go to Morrisons cafe next door!

We have been going to this lovely hotel for years and have fallen in love with it.. however, in recent times we have noticed a turn around in new staff ans to be frank, they have not been given sufficient or proficient training in general, we have also noticed a decline in the food at the hotel... we think that it just needs a bit of re organising in the management sector to bring g it back up to scratch.. it is still beautiful and idealik for a relaxing stay.

Lovely old Welsh pub with plenty of character. Food was excellent and so very tasty. Most of the staff couldn't do enough to help and were lovely, friendly and polite, but one young lady serving couldn't raise a smile and seemed to have her arms folded a lot of the time. We all have off-days, but it would have made our meal even more pleasant not to be scowled at! Better luck next time...and we will be back again.

This used to be a lovely experience but the service has really slipped. When we arrived there was nobody to seat us, just one lad who had to go off looking for the Basil Fawlty-esque manager who was nowhere to be seen. So while we waited we ordered drinks from the depressed, tattooed barman only discover the drinks were flat. When we did eventually get seated, you could sense the staff aren’t particularly happy (probably understaffed) and the Fawlty guy just seemed irritated by his iPad menu all the time. The food was good but it took an age to arrive, and each of our meals arrived at different times with long waits between which is always annoying. They apologised for the wait but I got the sense it’s standard practice. It seemed really poor considering there were only 3 of us and hardly anybody else in the restaurant. I can’t imagine what it’s like when it’s busy. Apart from the cosy fireplace seating, the rest of the restaurant seems bleak. There’s no music to fill the awkward atmosphere, the windowsills are dirty, it all just seems a bit dated now. Big shame, especially as it’s not exactly cheap. They’re lucky they have a lovely view to keep people distracted.

Annemarie and Rob are such friendly host! No effort was too much to create a marvelous experience for us. We walked the Offa’s Dayke Path and had our best sleep and bedfast at the Tafarn y Wean. Beds are very comfy and clean and we had a choice of 3 kinds of breakfast. We choose the scrambled eggs with salmon and also the granola yoghurt and croissant. Both were delicious and kept us on our feet the whole way to Prestatyn
