Having walked on the Wye Valley Greenway from Tintern Abbey, we needed lunch in Chepstow. The Ugly Mug cafe fitted the bill perfectly. Table service was very welcome and food was excellent. Had the BLT sandwich while others had the Cheese and Onion sandwich, plus toasted teacakes. Very friendly people running the place. Dog friendly too. Could not ask for more

Bearing in mind that this is the only cafe in Chepstow that we have tried, if there is s better breakfast that we ate here, it would be phenomenal! Piping hot plates, good quality food, well cooked and presented! Large pot of tea to accompany and a comfy atmosphere; recommended! Perhaps better cutlery snd a tea cosy, but that is minor compared to the food!

I don’t write reviews very often but I have to for this amazing cafe! Such good value - the veggy breakfast was amazing and so filling. The staff are friendly and accommodating. You have to try it.

An absolutely fantastic breakfast! The ingredients are clearly well sourced, not the frozen rubbish you get at other cafes. The staff always go out their way to help, especially when I have my two year daughter with me. Every time I’ve been in the place has nearly been full, which to me is the best sign of a great place. Look forward to my next visit!

A great little find. We had just arrived in Chepstow, I was hungry and we pivoted around and saw the cafe. It looked inviting - and not pretentious - so decided it was the place for us. Warm welcome (and warm cafe) - and a good menu choice. Quickly served and food arrived equally as quickly. I had eggs benedict which was/were great. (Eggs perfectly done). My wife had a panini which she struggled to finish due to the generous portion. Personally thought pricing was very reasonable. Really set us up as we headed back out into the cold for a couple of hours around town.

Called into this cafe at 3 pm in afternoon for a hot drink and snack on a very cold day. They said that cooked food had stopped and there were only cakes and a hot drink. I saw crumpets written on the specials with ham and cheese. They said they could do this but I said I didnt want the ham and only wanted one crumpet. They brought 2 crumpets with toasted cheese on top. There was no garnish and it was basically presented. I was charged £6.25 for 2 crumpets. This was a total rip off. Will not be returning.

Staff were curt, atmospheric akin to sitting in a service station. Tea was just warm and so we decided not to order food. First and last visit.

Arrived just after 2:30 on a Tuesday to be told no food other than cakes, they told another customer there were shutting a 3pm. This is a cafe shop in the middle of town centre on a school holiday! We had 2 generous slices of lemon and blueberry cake garnished with canned cream and a strawberry, very moist and tasty. Our chai lattes were hot milk with barely a taste of cinnamon. Beautiful wooden floor but dirty.

My partner and I came here to check out the Detroit pizza and cocktails. The service was fast and super friendly, plus they catered for my nut allergy really well. Being dog friendly, we took out 12 yo labrador Alffi who had fun, plus and Utterly Mutterly ice-cream! We had the 1/2 and 1/2 Detroit pizza, a mix of Bloody Mary and the porcini mushrooms. It was DELISH, the portion was also massive meaning we took half home for tea, making it 2 meals in 1. My partner had the Detroit IPA which was hoppy and fresh. I had the Shepherd and Welsh Wanderer cocktails. Very strong, delicious and well presented. We have friends that live locally and will absolutely be back to check out the Sunday slices, bring our dogs and have some more pizza and cocktails. Thanks Lee & co for fab hospitality.

Recently refurbished and Rebranded as "Fire & Fork" promising a " a traditional American barbecue experience". No Bread available before Starters. - Pork Burnt Ends - Mixture of under and over cooked chunks of pork in a sickly sweet, slightly spicy smoked sauce. Need something acidic to cut through all the fat came with "Texas "Toast", Stale slice of bloomer spread with an unidentifiable substance. Beef Cigars - Lovely shredded beef in a crispy pancake style roll with a rich, smoked Garlic Mayo. Mains - XL Short Ribs not available so both ordered the 10 Hour Smoked Brisket. Served as described on menu. No discernable smoked crust or flavour to the Brisket. No mustard available at this restaurant. No Napkins provided, asked twice, got some from another table. we dealt with our cutlery shortage similarly. No water provided when requested. Inexperience of the staff evident but more than made up for by their enthusiasm and wish to please. Two Starters, Two Mains, Three pints and a Short / Mixer - £92. Option to add tip to card payment. Cash tip direct to server. This place has lots of potential but needs to overcome teething problems before one will consider a return
