Had a Christmas dinner here, the soup to start was lovely very tasty piping hot with a lovely roll next wast beef dinner exquisite parsnips and carrots beautiful Yorkshire pudding flavour and gravy and a good selection of vegetables although they were a tad hard only complaints were that the beef wasn’t rare enough and the potatoes were cut too big other than that was flawless. But the Christmas pudding was very underwhelming and not what I expected. Overall I would give my experience a 7 out of 10 based on all elements of price location, food quality drink selection and others.

Brilliant atmosphere and location. In the summer you can sit by the river, in the winter you can sit by the real fire. It's lovely. The food is perfect. Everyone raves about the steaks and the beef in general. Easy to see why. But all the food is absolutely top rate.

We went to The chainbridge inn last night, it’s one of the best pub meals all four of us have had in a long time, I had the pork belly in cider apple sauce and it was fantastic. The pub is attractively decorated with a roaring fire. The landlady was more than pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. It’s a shame we found it on the last night of our holiday or we would have been there every night, the menu had something for everyone and I could easily have chosen at least 5 items I would eat, the prices also were very reasonable mine was £15 and all desserts £6. I wish them every success in this new venture, and wished we lived nearer so it could be our local. Thank you Richard, Judith Stuart and Trish.

We booked the Chainbridge for our wedding breakfast as we were having a small ceremony for family and close friends in Usk and wanted somewhere that served good food, close by with capacity for us. Corinn and the team were fantastic. We spent about a month organising over email and popped in a few times - everyone was very accommodating. As we'd not planned anything like this before, Corinn and Aimee used their experience and helped us with small bits we'd missed in our initial plan. What we got on the day was amazing. Everyone said how wonderful the food was (we opted for a carvery and then sticky toffee pudding/crumble and hired out the Mr Whippy machine as well) - a lot of our guests are planning on returning for a Sunday roast. We had a small group of 2-5-year-olds - a small area had been put aside for the crafting items I supplied so the children could have fun and not get too bored. We had exclusive hire of the pub and the few people who did wander in were politely informed of this by the team. All in all, the day went off without a hitch, the experience was absolutely lovely and the team cannot be recommended enough - they did everything in their power to make our day absolutely perfect.

Booked last minute for a one night break really wished we had not. Turned up at 4pm on Sunday Internet and notice boards in hotel said serving food until 5pm. Told kitchen closed no reason and not caring that we were staying there. Asked where could we get something to eat locally. Told initially don't know by someone who said they did not normally work there ask someone else. Went to room had only been partly serviced. Empty biscuit wrapper on shelf half empty shower soap in shower. Only one large towel for 2 of us! Advised it would be sorted went for a walk when we came back although they knew who we were not advised that room was ready. Asked for 2 coffees they never arrived. We were told as it was quiet pub would shut at 9ish when arrived went out to find food at 6 to be told pub including bar would close at 6.30pm we would have to let ourselves in. Then told only serve breakfast Thursday to Sunday. Yet they take people to stay. Interesting when we left this morning handed in key 4 people stood about not doing much not a did you enjoy your stay or anything. Went for a little walk round to river right by pub. On rear window it says food rating 2 never seen such a low score anywhere. It may be cheap but pay a bit extra and find somewhere else. Such a shame as the location is amazing.

First time here ,upon arrival the bedroom was cold ,dog hairs on the cushion,no bin in the bedroom,no bag in the bin in the bathroom,no plug socket by the kettle, had to put kettle on the floor to boil it which is not sensible ,should have at least a small table by the electric point to have the kettle on,little things count, attention to detail,on the positive note we had dinner in the evening,we both enjoyed our meals,my partner had fish and chips,I had beetroot burger with lovely homemade chips, nice beer for £5,nice location, big car park, benches outside,2 tents overlooking the river, nice pub inside, the table was set but I noticed when I sat down the staff should of given it a good clean, wondered why it was only a 2 star rating.

We had Sunday lunch. The price, in comparison to other local pubs, was on par. They were relatively busy so the service reflected that, but the table service was adequate, No ones fault - it is what it is. Once ordered the food came out in a reasonable time. I'm a pretty picky individual when it comes to my Sunday lunches so maybe I expect too much but the food was again on par with most other local establishments. The pub is located in a lovely spot on the river Usk, with gorgeous views. Definitely worth a visit for sure...

On back garden of Inn you can have tent or camper in very reasonable price , we paid £10 for large tent ( 5 people + dog , yes they are dog friendly too! ) . For additional money you can have electricity as well. There are 2 water taps, and nice toilets ( around 14 cabins ) in building next to gate. Place is very clean , quiet , perfect to relax and enjoy nature , there are steps down to river next to Inn so if you can fishing that huge bonus. We've just spent a lovely four days here, and were so sad to leave. We plan to go back as soon as we can!Pros:Despite sudden serious staffing issues (which are now resolved) Sarah and her family, plus the wonderful Lauren all stepped up to make it a fabulous time. I feel like I've found another bunch of friends. A new head chef and assistant manager starts soon - who we met - and I have every faith in him and Sarah to turn this place around. The breakfasts were generous, the tea non stop, and the willingness to please was overwhelming. It's such a lovely spot too. Sitting out by the river, listening to the birds sing... heaven. Thank you all for giving us a brilliant mini holiday. Cons - minorYes, some of the rooms are a bit dated, but this is a pub with some rooms, not a hotel. There is a problem with shower pressure, but they are aware of that, and working on it. The wifi doesn't reach all the rooms, as the walls are incredibly thick, it works in the garden, dining area, bar and lounge. To sum up:All in all a lovely stay. Friday night was open mic night, so that was fun. Good selection of beers and ciders, happy, friendly staff. Stunning location.

Called here on a Friday evening in June, and had to wait 20mins at the bar to be served a drink, the queue is like a chip shop, only one person behind the bar. People who were eating in the garden, and dared to leave their meal to purchase a drink, were all waiting 20 minutes, and all came back to a cold meal. We tried again in July and the appalling non service was still very evident, customers were queuing to the door with no likelihood of being served. This time I vented my views to the absolutely appalling lack of respect for the waiting customers, and the complete lack of staff behind the bar, but myself and my wife were told "if you dont like it you know where the door is" so we left to a chorus of verbal abuse.

Most of the tables were dirty with plates and glasses but found one. After standing at the carvary waiting we were told to help ourselves. The only vegetables were carrot and mashed broccoli. No mint sauce and lumpy gravy. The chef said he didnt have time to do more vegetables and there was no mint sauce left (bearing in mind this was 1.15pm)Everything was also salted within an inch of its life. There was what I assume staff members making suggestions of being sick over the carvary, saying it was disgusting as we were trying to eat.The glasses were filthy so after paying in excess of £40 we skipped the desserts. They are always running out of food and drink and the owner is regularly having a domestic with her husband regardless of who's there! No body knows who's in charge when the owners not around and it's understaff which is adding extra stress to the staff that's there! And they have to deal with unhappy customers as the owner doesn't no what she's doing and regularly runs out of everything on the menu aswell as behind the bar! I’d not read any reviews but were out for a drive and on way back to Usk and thought we’d give it a go as most pub restaurants in the area are fairly decent. So, where to start, poor girl at the Bar who took the orders didn’t really seem to know what she was doing and also couldn’t find a working pen, seems a theme here. Were told only carvery available on Sunday (it was just last 4), ordered choice of meat (which they got wrong), which obviously had to be reheated , then to the sorriest carvery hot plate I’ve ever seen with little on it eg 3 roast potatoes, chef / cook said he hadn’t been told, his kitchen area is right behind the hot plate. Whole situation compounded by the feeling of lack of cleanliness, and flies buzzing around the uncovered food. Food to taste was barely mediocre. Had a look at the regular menu out of curiosity, given what I’d just eaten over priced completely I’d say but won’t be returning to see if they could surprise me. It’s a real shame as it’s a beautiful site for a pub restaurant and would have huge pint but needs repeat customers to travel to it as well as passing trade. Such a shame I can only think the reviewer who gave 5 stars got mixed up with somewhere else or is employed there or related to the owner.

Ordered 2 meals nothing exotic only ham, egg and chips and sausage and mash told 30 minute wait so like a fool took a seat in what I can only describe as a slum stinking dirty from tables, decor and toilets unmentionable. There is a open fronted kitchen area what a mistake it was a disaster zone, there where dirty scruffy young boys carrying food to tables then prepairing food in the kitchen. As for our meal after waiting one and a half hours I finally cracked went to bar asking for my money back, young girl said I'll find out what's happening only to come back and tell me there is no mash, where they ever going to tell me. Arrived for food with family, to cold to sit outside so decided to stay in conservatory area. 4 of us, had to ask for menus told they only had 2! Just got worse and the words 'sorry we can't or sorry we don't have that, or sorry its broken, or sorry we forgot' became a regular sentences after that. Drinks coffee machine broken, no low alcohol beer. Opted for tea, forgot when it arrived no milk we actually saw the milk sitting out in bottle not even in a fridge went and poured it ourselves into a jug but best to smell it first thinga are that bad! Food ordering was painful poor choice for vegetarian's. Be warned they don't cater for allergies. Realise sitting in conservatory you are right by what maybe waste pipe so when someone above flushes you can hear it!

We booked for a meal whilst visiting nearby caravan site. Upon arrival they had us down for the wrong night and I specifically heard my husband when he booked it asking for the correct night. Anyone can make mistakes so we overlooked that and we told that were the only ones booked in (which should have rung alarm bells) so we could choose where to sit.

Worst meal ever!! Where to start...on arrival lots of dirty tables not cleaned, food all over the floor. Asked for a childs high chair which I had to clean before I let my child sit in it. Menu was a scrappy piece of paper left over from lunch menu. Spelling mistakes all over it which my 12 year old niece pointed out. Very limited choice. No one came to our table I had to go and ask if that was all that was on the menu. Again had to ask to take our order. Young staff hanging around bar messing around. Roast looked and tasted like it was quickly warmed up in the microwave left over from lunch time. Black thick tar gravy smothered over every inch of it..yuk. toilets were so dirty. no till receipt paper so couldn't give me a receipt. Young lad got his phone out and added bill up on his phone. All in all its a big no no. Avoid and keep driving

No Hot water! Smelt like a Greasy Spoon! Rooms very basic and not even a waste bin in site. no wardrobes. Ordered a glass of wine at bar only to be told they'd - sold out! When getting up Saturday morning greated by a completely empty residence. Not a Chef, waiter or anyone available to see to our nrrds let alone breakfast!!! Myself and colleagues left at 10.30 and it was still empty and open to the elements Owners response to everything was to blame young un-experienced staff. in her abcense. my advice - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE...

We stayed in nearby caravan park. Short walk to this pub. We sat in the new bamboo pods. Brilliant idea. However the area around it is an eyesore. There was also a man with a grinder working on his van right by the entrance??!!!.

Called here for food and received a warm welcome from the staff, ordered steaks, these were cooked to order and perfection, very tender, succulent and tender. Well worth the trip. 5*

A great veggie burger, served in a dispointing bun with cold oven chips. It's a great setting with much potential that sadly doesn't appear to have been made the most of yet. The staff are very friendly and the service was quick. Perhaps a slightly dated pub and menu, and a slightly tired decor.

Lovely location next to River and bridge, friendly staff, pods are a nice feature, but the rest of the pub and area looked like a building site

Since the pub has reopened we've had Sunday lunch twice and it has been excellent but the fundamental problem is the youngsters they have running the place, last Sunday we called in about 4.30 for a drink to be met with disco music blasting from the bar. When I went to the bar rap music was blasting and the staff and local youngsters were chanting the words with one of the boys behind the bar dancing like an idiot. I tried to order drinks and barman could not hear me it was so loud. Another barman was giving free drinks to his mates. All the wonderful work they've done and bamboo houses overlooking the river is being spoilt. Please sort this out as I love visiting this stunning pub

Visited here in the day, after a long walk with the dogs, who were welcomed by the lady with water and treats. Cant comment on food as only had drinks, came back on the evening as promised football be available on tv. Dissapointed to see/feel a much different vibe in the evening and no footy was put on😡 Will visit again as this was only first time, lots of potential and would give it another go at least if in the area again 💁‍♀️

Love the Abergavenny store. Give a 4 today as disappointed to find that in the cafe we have to order from a machine. Struggled to order two drinks but I ended going into the store to buy a sandwich. Whilst there witnessed one couple walk out and staff having to guide people through the process. They had to walk about delivering drinks that could have been taken by customers. Told that thus is a trial. As far as I am concerned if it remains my friend and I will not go for our coffee and snack/meal. Real people and food are far more appealing.
