Annemarie and Rob are such friendly host! No effort was too much to create a marvelous experience for us. We walked the Offa’s Dayke Path and had our best sleep and bedfast at the Tafarn y Wean. Beds are very comfy and clean and we had a choice of 3 kinds of breakfast. We choose the scrambled eggs with salmon and also the granola yoghurt and croissant. Both were delicious and kept us on our feet the whole way to Prestatyn

I stayed in April 2024 on the CL site. The new owners, Robert and Ann-Marie are very welcoming and have a lovely caravan / camper site that is beautiful. Views from every window, electric, water etc. Lovely walks nearby and plenty of pubs and restaurants within a few minutes. Very good road from the A55 which is important if you are towing! To summarise, a lovely peaceful CL site, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended :-)

We stayed for a night while hiking Offa’s Dyke. Owners collected us and took us back to the track. Advised a lovely pub for us to wait for them. The room was amazing. Lovely big shower and claw foot bath. Great big seating area for both dining and lounging that was part of our room. Outside there was a private courtyard with hot tub. Just amazing.

This has been our fifth visit to Tafarn y Waen & it absolutely deserves another review from my family Elaine & Pete welcome guests with such a natural warmth, and it can only be described as going home to see family! Everything is beautifully presented & immaculately clean The rooms are so fresh when you first walk in, the beds are super comfy and the towels are lovely and thick and fluffy We enjoyed Elaine’s home made cooking - especially the cheesecake which is honestly the best cheesecake we have ever tasted. And the full cooked breakfasts are delicious In fact Everything about staying at Tafarn Y Waen is perfect There is nowhere else comparable in the area and we can guarantee that booking in to this unique little place won’t disappoint. We are already looking forward to going back next year.

I had booked the hot tub suite by phone with Elaine, who was extremely helpful and chatty. I mentioned that I was extending our road trip as it was our anniversary. We were met by Pete who welcomed us warmly and showed us though to our room. Wow it's even more stunning than the photos and then we found they had given us an ice bucket with a bottle of prosecco to celebrate. So thoughtful. The wood fired hot tub had been heated ready for us. Pete went through how to use it. So refreshing and relaxing in the glorious sunshine and totally private. It would have been even better if robes were provided, just a thought. We had ordered lamb shanks for dinner and decided to have them in our room as the table was nicely laid. Elaine and Pete brought everything through and it was lovely. The homemade crumble was delicious too. We were instructed to leave the trays outside our room. The bathroom with the roll top bath and separate large shower was lovely, with excellent toiletries. There were plenty of large soft towels. Unfortunately the shower went from freezing to scolding with no in-between. Hopefully the moving toilet seat has been fixed. The super king bed was very comfortable and the curtains kept the light out so we had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was served in the dining room and is prepared to order, including tea and coffee. There was no menu so you have to guess what is available, the toast comes prespread but marmalade/jam wasn't offered. We also found it strange that the next morning it was assumed we wanted exactly the same. We enjoyed exploring the local area and returning for more relaxation in the garden and hot tub. We had predinner drinks in the sitting area before our evening meal, it was nice that others were dining too. Slightly off putting having the almost continuous swoosh of the steam iron though. Elaine and Pete are a gregarious couple and eager to be helpful.

Collected us from Bodfari as agreed having taken our meal order the night before & accommodating for the vegan in our group. Our room(the twin) was very comfy with an excellent en suite. At the end of a day’s walking a good shower is a blessing & this did not disappoint. Dinner(Lamb shank with veg) was delicious & ready for exactly when we asked. The hosts spoke with us after dinner & made us feel very welcome. Pete had already ensured the temperature of our room was to our liking & that, along with comfy beds, led to a great nights sleep. Breakfast(order taken the night before) was served promptly & was as good as expected. I would highly recommend a stay here for anyone passing through.

We visited this CL site for a week over Easter 2023 with our granddaughters aged 16 & 12, in our touring caravan. The pitches are large and easily accessed, fresh water and sanitation points are also easily accessible. The site makes a good base for holiday attractions in North Wales, just off the A55. We enjoyed a super evening meal at the on site restaurant for my birthday. The owners Elaine and Pete, are very friendly and helpful, thank you for a great holiday!

The drinks were orderD and quite promptly delivered. Our food order was taken, we had three roast beefs and one roast chicken. The food arrived in a timely manner and it was all piping hot. We were asked if everything was alright which it was, I requested a little more gravy and maybe a little more horseradish sauce these were promptly delivered. The meats were very nice indeed as were the fresh vegetables. A very nice lunch indeed, trouble was it didn't leave room for a pudding.

We went on a Friday which is casserole night - difficult when there are 7 people as not everyone wanted the same meal. However the casserole was tasty and very reasonably priced but nothing different to what I would serve up on a weeknight at home and I would prefer something a bit more special when going out to a restaurant. Puddings were delicious which redeemed things somewhat. Hopefully as the new owners get more confident they will provide a more varied menu.

This time of year you can’t beat walking into a pub and feel the warmth of both the fire and Elaine and Peter. The food is so reasonably priced and delicious. Make sure you try the sticky toffe pudding. We will be returning.

Since Elaine & Peter opened only a few weeks ago we have frequented the Farmers Arms three times. On each occasion the Fayre has been super and freshly cooked. The Small plates are to die for and certainly a change from the usual boring menus you get at some other establishments.

This is an absolute gem. We went for Saturday lunch and had a very warm welcome from both the landlord and the roaring log fire. The dining area is small, cosy and more like a home than a pub/inn. We had the home made lamb stew which was to die for. Really tender chunks of meat in a fulsome veg broth teeming with flavours. The portions were such that we didn't really need a pud but thought it would be rude not to - so we went for the home made Baileys cheese cake. Once again, truly fantastic. As we were leaving the chef came and had a chat - a lovely end to a fantastic lunch. Travelled 60 mile to get here and will do so again - and soon.

Went for a meal at the Farmers Arms and sat next to a fantastic log burner and had a great meal. The new owners have spent the past twelve months refurbishing this old country pub and have been very clever about it because the way it has been carried out it still keeps all the charm of a traditional country pub. We will be going back there very soon and thank you Paul & Jacqui for letting us know about this wonderful pub.

We were lucky to eat at the Farmer's Arms last Saturday as it has apparently only just reopened under new management and with an unusual twist on the usual pub grub. "British tapas" was how it was described to us and it is quite a novel way to eat out in a local pub. The menu consists of extremely flavourful individual dishes which can be put together in any combination to share with friends. We chose the warm scotch egg, Italian meatballs and tasty Mexican chicken, which came beautifully served on a wooden platter with a salad garnish and tasty dips. These three dishes came to £12 and were more than enough for two people, however it seemed only fair to try dessert! I had the white chocolate cheesecake and my husband had the blueberry crumble which we certainly didn't need but were delicious! Booking is usually recommended, but a table was found for us with no fuss as we were staying in a nearby B and B. I would recommend the Farmer's Arms without hesitation if you want a warm welcome and tasty food which is just that little bit different.

I loved the rooms and the beds were really comfortable. The food in the attached restaurant and bar was excellent. The Lady who served us was extremely nice.

Lovely food. I had The fish and chips- lovely crisp batter and triple cooked chips. Quite a large meal though. The burger came with a fresh salad and nice crispy onion rings. Everything was lovely and hot too. Dining room looks like it has recently been refurbished and was very comfortable and clean. Nice atmosphere. Well behaved dogs are welcome here too. 5 star on every thing.

Advertised a gluten free chippy but won't serve gluten free after 7pm, the stuff was rude and couldn't even be bothered to put my food in a bag 😉

We had a Club sandwich and it was excellent. The salad was a lovely selection of fruit/ veg/ leaves. Really impressed and service was great. Great stop for motorbikes with a great car park.

Stayed and ate here after escaping from a terrible nearby campsite. The room was cheap for such short notice and was surprisingly posh, although the absence of a wardrobe was a bit annoying. As to the food, it's fine for what it is. There's a fairly limited set menu and the portions aren't massive by Welsh standards, but it was all very well done and the service was quick and efficient. A good budget choice.
