The American Diner has a totally different business philosophy with next to no signage, we had Google maps on and still struggled to find it. It is conveniently hidden inside the Fish and Chip shop, it is red roped off for VIPs only and when you try to enter after triumphantly finding it, you are met by a rude woman that sharply indicates there is no sit down service, or internal queuing it would seem, and that you need to order through the window. Following form, not a single do not enter sign, obviously why waste money on signs when you must be approaching recievership anyway! This is the best review I can give after the way we were spoken too. We did not buy, so cannot attest to the quality, but if they treat the food the way they treat their custom, we dodged a bullet.

The Fox and Grapes has been transformed under its new ownership! The atmosphere is noticeably improved—warm and welcoming—and the place looks much cleaner and well cared for. We enjoyed a lovely drink outside with the family after a picturesque walk around Hawarden Castle. Great prices too, which is always a bonus. Looking forward to seeing how this fantastic pub continues to evolve!

Called in for lunch mid week. Large pub. Generic pub chain style menu. All four of us ordered different meals but none of them were particularly good. They were just ok. My meal was meant to be a filled baguette. It wasn't a baguette it was a soggy submarine bread roll. Very stingy amount of chips too. Son had mac n cheese which was bland and runny - a few cheesy breadcrumbs crisped up on the top would've improved the look and taste/texture of it no end for the sake of a few "penneth" of extra ingredients and a minute or two of time. They were not busy and I can see why. Overpriced for what you got. Won't be returning.

Love the Abergavenny store. Give a 4 today as disappointed to find that in the cafe we have to order from a machine. Struggled to order two drinks but I ended going into the store to buy a sandwich. Whilst there witnessed one couple walk out and staff having to guide people through the process. They had to walk about delivering drinks that could have been taken by customers. Told that thus is a trial. As far as I am concerned if it remains my friend and I will not go for our coffee and snack/meal. Real people and food are far more appealing.
