The West Cross Inn in Swansea

The worker Jayden was really kind to us before work and recommended this place for food. He is now a new friend. He deserves a raise. Also, the people who wash the dishes must be praised as im served with a fresh plate with each item i order. I will be returning for a second time.

What a lush meal!! They have stepped up their game massively! Have tried local steak restaurants that are double the price and haven’t lived up to the steak we had. My only qualm is that the restaurant got quite warm, so we both had to stand outside for a second to cool down.

This place can't seem to decide if it wants to be a pub or a restaurant, probably a restaurant give that it closes at 20:30. Food was fine, but expensive for what it was. Service was absolutely fine. I'm a West Cross local and I get the feeling they only want us in if we're eating. The lady who sits all day by the front door who I can only assume is the owner judges you as you walk in.

Very tasty food with friendly staff and a great view over Swansea Bay.

I attended the West Cross Inn for Sunday lunch with my family.... ten people. The food was served promptly and was very good quality and plenty of it. My son is vegetarian and his option was also excellent. The service was professional and thoughtful. I haven't been to this venue for several years...and I don't know why. I'll certainly be back soon.!!

Lovely food, at a lovely location.

Visited yesterday with my son and husband for a Sunday roast. The roasts were excellent and plenty of them. All the staff are extremely efficient, well mannered and well groomed. Will definitely recommend to others, and return

Came here for my birthday and had a truly wonderful time thankyou to all the staff for making my time with my family so welcoming I will be using this lovely gem a lot more often for lunch with the hubby!

Called in on December 6th for a meal with my son ,fortunately I pre booked as a lot of people were turned away while we were booking in the food was absolutely outstanding and compared with a lot of places I,ve eaten I,d give this 6 out of 5 stars,can't wait to go back,my son also thought the food was outstanding,keep it up West cross inn

Great location overlooking Swansea bay and facing the mumbles pier. Food was lovely and staff was nice. Service was pretty good but they forgot some starter and kept telling us how good it was/would have been.

Having had previous good experiences here, I booked a table for 6 for visiting family. To start there was no choice of beer, had run out of malbec wine, no sirloin steak left and finally no baps left for a beefburger?! It was only 7pm on a Sat evening. One starter was poor (cauliflower), one main course of seabass and prawns (very few tiny prawns) was so hot and spicy it was inedible. The food service was exceptionally slow. Prior to this evening I would have given a glowing review. What has happened since our last visit? On a positive note the waiter was excellent and full of apologies. We felt sorry for him! He didn't charge for one of the meals, but we would rather have had a better experience. Very disappointed!

Really disappointed, searched 'dog friendly places to eat online' and this came up as the first place that popped up. Only to find, they do not allow dogs. Very mis leading

Cute restaurant with v good food in a lovely location. Owner Livinia always there to greet customers. So very welcoming. Do book as it tends to be full a lot of the time. Many people attend for special occasions.. Parking free on site. Outside seating also available. Excellent service

I've been coming to this pub for years and it never fails to disappoint. The view is exceptional the staff are friendly and the fish and chips is good quality as always. I will be back.

Popped in for lunch with a friend before heading to Mumbles. Excellent service and the Beef Burger with bacon and brie was just the best! The restaurant area looked like it had a great view of the sea. Would definitely recommend. Thanks

Lush food, good portions and great prices

Exceptional food in a wonderful seafront location. Portions are generous and the dessert are homemade. I'd say hidden gem, but it's right on a main road and the promenade so it's as visible as you could possibly make it! Get there!

Walked in on spec on a Tuesday night and got a table at once. The veg chilli was fantastic, the best we've had, and the burger was awesome too. Very full afterwards! Friendly helpful staff made for a lovely evening:)

We stopped in as 4 adults and 4 children and the service was 5 star with an amazing waitresses who was very knowledgeable and attentive. Food came out in good time, tasted great and was very hot. Gluten free options on both the normal menu and the dessert menu were great and staff had extensive knowledge about allergies. We Intend to come back here next year we would highly recommend.

It's our second time at the Weat Cross Inn, for our busy 1 year old. We were a bit unsure how it would go since she's an adventurous rascal. The food was outstanding and our little one was welcomed. We had starters, mains and then we had some cake to celebrate. After dinner I was quite stuffed so took the little one out onto the prom for some fresh air. Overall - excellent, Highly recommend!

Stopped in with the wife for some food. Brilliant staff and service. Food was excellent! The Cajun chicken and chorizo burger was stunning, cooked perfectly (no hard black edges) highly recommend. I was hoping to have the Beef, camembert and cranberry relish burger, however it was not available 😞 so unable to comment on it, however I will be back to try it some other time. Great evening had with great food and great service!

Wow! Never did I expect such delicious and well presented food with excellent service for such reasonably priced food! The view is a bonus and the atmosphere is so relaxed. I would definitely come here again.

Excellent fish and chips, well kept local beers on tap. Restaurant overlooks the bay. Best to book. Picturesque, friendly and recommended. We return for lunch regularly. I can't comment about the rest of the menu because we always have their fish and chips, which is always excellent. Friendly service. Need to book on busy Fridays and Saturdays. Recommended.

Lovely gastropub. Super food and excellent friendly service. Prices are not too bad either. Great view from parts of the pub. It’s not that big and is clearly popular so would definitely recommend booking a table.

I think it's a little overpriced, but the location is great, and the food is of a good quality, and portion size is generous.

Beautiful surroundings would have liked to sit overlooking the bay but it was fully booked. Expensive for a pub lunch as we sat in the bar but nevertheless a lovely meal and the staff were really nice and extremely helpful. They must have a very good chef because the meal was exceptional. Both children ate the meals with no fuss. For children the price of a child's meal was also expensive but they did enjoy. The outside garden is in an excellent position when strolling along the sea front but it's early in the season and needs some colour and care. Would recommend you book although the landlady was very pleasant and accomodating. Would recommend to anyone who would like something special. For a disabled person there is easy access and the toilets are on the ground floor, parking is on the doorstep but only a small car park.

Found this place whilst staying in Swansea for the weekend, lovely setting overlooking Swansea bay, welcoming friendly staff and good food. Will use again.

Meals are freshly cooked and hot. Best ingredients used. Staff friendly, seating is spacious between tables. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Downside is the lack of parking.

Went to the west cross inn around 7pm hoping for good food after a traumatic week. The lady said they were fully booked but she managed to fit us in. The service was impeccable and the food was to die for. Will most definitely be going back. We highly recommend people visit. You definitely get what you pay for.

Really enjoyed the Chicken Madras, the cheesecake was divine. Good service, lovely ambience, just a shame we were slightly overcharged. Booking is advisable.

What has happened! This was our go to for all family occasions! The food for many year’s absolutely amazing! The fish so fresh! Piping hot and always tasty. I am not sure what has changed? but sad to say the West-cross Inn will not be first choice for our family occasion. The staff were absolutely amazing and this is the only reason for my 4 star review. The food on the other hand to the contrary! Being a Chef with hospitality management I can tell you The fish is now a bought in product not freshly made! something you would find in the chest freezer in any superstore. The chicken is tough and over cooked. The portion size extremely small for the price and food served cold. So sad to see this lovely Restaurant loose it’s mojo ! I would have classed this the best Restaurant in Swansea 2 years ago but now some changes are needed with food to get it back up there. Not sure a change of chef? If so definitely not as good as the last! The staff however absolutely superb!

Have been coming to the west cross for years but recently had food there and not sure if they’ve changed the chef or supplier but the cod used to be large and the batter seemed to be made fresh but now the fish seemed bought in and not as good as before, also other guests chicken was chewy. Staff though are as lovely and helpful as ever. We hope this comment helps as we love this place.

Called on Monday, about , 12.30. We were “greeted “ by a lady who sat just inside the door. We hadn’t booked and she made hard work of providing a table for us. She decided to lay a table for 2 alongside the bar, I felt like we were sitting in a passageway. There seemed to be plenty of tables available and we were requested a different one, she was not happy with this request and although she did agree to move us she told us that she would now lose a lot of money because the table was for 4 people. I can’t say I noticed a queue of people trying to get in the whole time we were there. The bar and waiting staff were excellent, very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The meal was good but I’m sorry I won’t be returning after this experience.

Most accommodating.clean.organised. Food fish and chips good here today.scampi also well presented. Dessert 🍨 choice very good. Definitely going again.please book in advance it is popular here.right on the seafront.view is spectacular of swansea Bay and mumbles .parking is available adjacent and opposite at westcross. Wheelchair uses have a ramp front access to ground restaurant area or to beer garden in Nice weather.for great views book conservatory which is accessed up some stairs with handrails either side.i do not know if dogs are allowed inside.i did not see any but there is a lovely sitting area outside with the great views directly over the Swansea bay

Valentines meal. Don't be fooled if you ring and they say a table in the bar. The bar was all food tables by booking only and it was great. Nice atmosphere, roses on the table, very good food and excellent service. Was perfect.

Good food, good beer, good price, good service. What's not to like? Beer was served correctly, at cellar temperature, rare these days! Food was good, very tasty and excellent value. Place was busy, we had to wait a while but we were warned when we arrived and it was well worth the wait. Can't wait to go back. Small comment : if you want to leave a tip take cash, they won't take a tip on a card!

Wonderful views over the bay and good food. You can park right at the restaurant or walk there on the coast promenade. Service is friendly and prices are fair.

Been here twice in the last week, Sunday lunch and then midweek lunch as part of our Welsh holiday. The service is excellent for this family run restaurant on the beach front in Mwmbwls. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the sticky toffee pudding was the best I have ever had, and that is going some. Their chips are also fab, not good for our waist line.

Really nice venue, but be sure to book, they are really busy. No wonder though, great service and perfect meals at reasonable prices.

We booked the Westcross Inn for my partner's 70th birthday - on the hottest day of the year! The venue was perfect - just on the beach - amazing views of the mumbles lighthouse and lifeboat station. The food was absolutely amazing - guests commented on the quality of the fish dishes, the sticky chicken was amazing and every dietary requirement was catered for. In fact, guests who normally felt left out (vegan vegetarian, gluten free) really enjoyed the food on offer. The cheesecakes were to die for. Wine and champagne were great. The attention from our hosts was amazing - the whole experience was seamless and I cannot thank the staff enough for their attention to detail, for making our guests feel so welcome and for making the whole experience so easy for us. I would highly recommend the westcross inn for any party or gathering - professional, great food and amazing service .

Lovely place to eat , beautiful views . Food was delicious and reasonable prices.

Pros: beautiful location, especially when sat in the restaurant overlooking the bay at high tide. Cons: limited menu, lacking in many pub classics; prices have gone up a lot, but not the quality of the food. We had a disappointing meal, with overcooked veg (tiny portion of) that i had to ask after and undercooked, soggy chips. Price of the very flat Gower Gold beer up to £4.70 a pint. Tasteless cod. Been here many times for food but this time will certainly be the last, unfortunately.

Only stayed for a drink on the back terrace but what a lovely large venue backing directly onto mumbles Sandy beach. A must visit for the summertime.

The most polite, helpful staff you could ever wish for. They understand kids, serve lovely food and nothing is too much hassle. Highly recommended

People don't come here to drink, but to eat. The four of us, next to a window overlooking the incoming tide. The table was spotless and other tables were cleaned immediately on the departure of guests. A basic menu, which I find reassuring... if the menu had fifty items, how many of them would be from the freezer?! The chicken and sauces are really tasty, and I've tried them all. Dad prefers the fish and chips, but for some reason never gets it, more like a massive whale with wonderful batter (yes, he always finishes plate). Staff are very efficient and friendly and the hostess always welcoming. Always a must when in the area.

We really enjoyed our impromptu visit to The West Cross Inn. Arriving with our little dog, we were unable to sit inside but that meant we had to sit outside enjoying the beautiful view of the bay - which was even better. It’s obvious that they take a lot of care over their service which was friendly and excellent, and the food was absolutely superb (and excellent value). The burger I had was so good (piled with bbq sauce, cheese and crispy onions) that I can’t wait to order it again. This place is well worth a stop for the food and the view. Nice selection of local beer and cider too. Brilliant.

We just had Sunday lunch in the bar. Beautiful roast dinner, the beef was so tender and generous portion of veg. Finished off with eaton mess cheesecake. We have booked again in 2 weeks time. Book ahead because the West Cross Inn is very popular.

My grandsons ate off the adult meal as they wanted burgers and they were not on the children's menu. I had fish but there was so much greasy batter I had a job finding the fish, chips were nice which was the only good part of the meal.

We visited The West Cross Inn this evening and it was absolutely delicious!! I can not recommend this place enough. We moved to Swansea in July 2021 and have tried a lot of places and this is up there with the best of them. The warm welcome, the amazing staff and the delicious food makes it all for an amazing time. Thank you so much to all the lovely people and the Chef's! Our waiter recommended the Sweet Chilli Chicken as a main and it did not fail! It was yummy! He was so good with the kids aswell, nothing we asked was to much, everyone was so accomdating, the front of house staff are the best. The Madras Curry was so scrummy, really tasty and lots of flavour. Thanks everyone what a super Establishment you have, see you soon!
