Toby Carvery Coldra in Newport

Lot of food for the money, and if you like a carvery as I do then its good. Not as nice as my mothers, but then to be honest who's is ! But yes, I will order again as more meat this time.

We ordered 1 meal with the extra pigs in blankets and it arrived with none. There was no stuffing on either of the meals , the food was pretty much cold by the time it got here. it stated Cauliflower cheese , we had normal cauliflower and the meats were pretty much all fat on the beef and gammon. Awful. Ruined mother's day.

On the 1st delivery, there was no TURKEY or STUFFING! On the 2nd delivery .NO STUFFING!! so not very good service!! 3 out of 10! very disappointed

Waited over 2 hours for a carvery. It was luke warm when it arrived. Not acceptable to be waiting that long for a carvery and then it come barely warm.

I didn't receive my TURKEY!!! VERY DISAPOINTING!!!

Meal was cold, Beef was inedible and there were items missing from the order: Extra Yorkshire Pudding and Pigs in Blankets

my meat wasn't the best alot of fat. roast potatoes not alot for 2 of us. more mash than anything else. had one bit of cauliflower

no stuffing and stated really metallic.. never again

Plenty of hot food, not much meat though, and forgot the stuffing. That aside it was a nice meal with plenty of gravy, and I will order again.

Bacon was hard, i asked for beans and tomatoes to be separate they never read the notes

Late delivery. Stone cold. Hard lumps in mash. Peas like bullets. Burned stuffing. Half filled gravy tubs. Apple tart was burned on the outside and under cooked inside. No cream provided. Most of this lunch and pudding has gone in the bin.

Called in on way to travel to dorset, as usual very nice food, good choice, and friendly staff, these all contribute to a great experience.

Very disappointed with Toby today. Portions were pitiful not worth the money. Probably won't be going back again.

Won't be returning. Forgot to enter my car reg, I was charged £100 for a twenty seven minute stay. A Heinous and an unforgivable charge for an oversight. Have a receipt to prove i ate at the Toby Carvery Newport Coldra. OUTRAGEOUS.

The servers were very pleasant and polite .. The food was cold and the gravy was like water .in fact the mint dauce was thicker .

Delivery was fine. Food wasn’t very nice, beef was very fatty, roasties rock hard, gravy had no taste and was thin. Ordered fudge cake and custard for pudding, the cake was fine but there was the tiniest tub of custard with about 2 tablespoons in it.

No Yorkshire puddings, small amount of gravy after ordering a large, not enough meat…

My family & I went for food yesterday evening and I must comment to say what a lovely experience we all had, super friendly staff, the dec was well presented & the food looked fresh and we all came away feeling really satisfied, fab experience! Well done Toby coldra!

no apple pie and custard, although it was showing available, note said they tried to call from restaurant-I didn't have a missed call! However the carvery that we DID receive was good

Lovely waitress Leanne, food was lovely but would have liked cabbage instead of green beans, sweetcorn.

Met with my sister and brother in law had good food and nice chat we weren't rushed very amenable.

Went here yesterday. Watery lumpy mash and was told vege option was just vegetables. Rest of the food was nice.

Staff were very friendly and always on hand to assist. Meat content was a bit light as not all people want to pile up their plates with veg. They used to have parsley sauce but not today. They also didn't have apple sauce. Overall really enjoyed the experience

Great selection of fresh food and a buffet style so you can help yourself. Staff are friendly and helpful but advise booking as a very popular establishment and gets busy. Great family atmosphere.

Not as good as if you went there but decent size portions apart from the meat. Tastes good still

The carvery tasted great. Had to wait a very long time for desert though and thought it was overpriced for what it was. The pub itself needs a refurb. Staff are friendly.

It was incredibly busy but we pre booked and our table was ready on time. The staff were brilliant considering how busy it was, we did have to queue for a short time for food, but it was so worth it! The food was hot, fresh and cooked perfectly, nothing was over or under cooked. Overall lovely atmosphere and lovely food. We will be back when we’re passing through south wales again.

Food was lovely but over priced for £6.49 for chicken nuggets on there own. Main issue again in this place is toilets. The smell is over powering as you enter making you feel sick before you eat. Needs a clean and overall makeover of restaurant

regular ordering. hit and miss. cold apart from the gravy. no turkey. presuming none left. sometimes what you ask or don't ask for gets missed.

The Carvery here is fantastic and super value for money. Additionally the food is always fresh and tast. The check and kitchen staff are always friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is clean Highly recommended

It was a really busy Sunday afternoons but managed to fit us in without a reservation. Timed it just right as the majority of the meats were just coming out the oven to replenish what was available.

We love it at Toby carvery and have bee at least one to twice a month over the last 12months bringing with us friends and family The food is perfect and plenty of variety and starters as well as deserts We had breakfasts as well and still find amazing The staff are welcoming and very polite with friendly personality s We will continue to support Toby as for us it's affordable and excellent quality

I recieved a message saying the courier can't find me and left, I messaged back saying I revieved no calls. I then recieved 2 calls in quick concession, rang the number back and courier was rude and shouting at me telling me he was going to go home and give my food to someone else as he had before. He eventually agreed to come back and I had to walk out to get my order, he immediately had a go at me and told me he wasn't giving me my order until I was 'nice' to him, say please 5 times

asked for pork and stuffing was given turkey no stuffing. my dad cant eat turkey. absolutely terrible dinner

Love going here. Food is always beautifully cooked and great selection of vegetables. We are a group of " ladies who lunch " and go here every month. A lovely roast for us all.

First Toby carvery for me, as my wife remembered them as a youngster. Imagine my horror, for this to be the worst roast dinner we have ever eaten out in 40 plus years. Lively staff, but terrible, steady, hard, tasteless food that I would not feed to my dog, and I don't go out top post negative reviews unless somewhere is dire. This food was dire!

We enjoy a Toby Carvery for evenings out for a meal, family and friends Celebrations, any excuse for a meal is a good one and always first choice of venue. The food is excellent, service superb by both Waiting staff and Chefs. Always recommend The Coldra Toby Carvery to friends and neighbours.

Our server Sarah made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere was beautiful with the Christmas lights. The food was delicious.

Absolutely amazing. Honestly even better than sat in sometimes. The amount of food you have is huge. Will be ordering again.

The carvery was very busy but all the staff seemed very organised and able to deal with the volume of customers very well. We had to queue but the queue moved very quickly thanks to the staff. Please thank the staff for all their hard work. Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and when we were paying our bill. The staff serving food were excellent too. Nothing seemed to much trouble. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

Had really hoped the food would have been great but very disappointed. The meats were shocking, very fatty, chewy and very small portions. Pigs in blankets were ok. Such a shame.

Delivery on time. Pleasant courier. Food tasty and plentiful (although a choice between having roast and/or mashed potatoes rather than a combination would be a good idea.)

We went to the Toby on Saturday 1st Dec our server was a nice girl called Beth. I'm vegan my partner is not. I ordered the carrot Wellington. All was good. Beth came out to say the packaging was missing from the carrot Wellington so there was no way to tell 100% if it was vegan. But the mushroom pie was. So thats what i had. Thank you Beth for going the extra mile. Now it would be nice if the breakfast menu was overhauled for vegans 😉. That would be awesome. This wasn't 2 months ago. I haven't been vegan in years.

Food was not delivered but marked as delivered emailed to try get a refund and was told it was in a ‘ safe place ‘ even tho I fully checked outside my apartment .

After having a meal this evening with the girls from work we were served by Arran who said he normally works behind the bar. What a lovely young man with exceptionally amazing people skills. When we were about to pay he mentioned there was a discount this week if we downloaded the app. Thank you Arran you made us four ladies night by being so honest and making us aware of your offers thus reducing our bill.

Definitely something not right here. Very stressed waiting staff, argumentative with each other, not much evidence of good leadership as seen at other Tobys. Staff seem so unhappy. The chef who served our carvery was however really lovely and helpful. Serving area of the carvery was full of old food and not clean, sauces and gravy all very low and only a bit of cranberry left. Sat surrounded by dirty tables and carpet has yellow tape in places making the room we were sat in look tired. We either have a really lovely .meal or an absolutely awful time here and this visit was horrid, long wait for drinks and glasses, pigs in blankets came out at end of meal despite asking. Corporate please invest in this Toby with new carpets and maybe some help for the staff. Please do not reply with the usual we will take on board and feed back to team, actually make changes, sweep the car park, sort the rope area and rope fence out. Spend money on making it a great place to eat and staff to work.

The food was fab and the kids chocolate Sunday was amazing 🤩 Claire was amazing at her job! Would definitely be back again!!!!

Myself and friend went here for a carvery and Dessert everything was piping hot and fresh melt in your mouth meats the taste in all the veg flavours were delish and the home made Apple pie was to die for we come here regular and look forward to our next visit very soon 10/10 staff welcoming helpful and friendly couldn't fault it thank you and well done all concerned

Toby used to be good value for money but not anymore. Used to do an ultimate breakfast but no longer, they’ve cut it down to half the size. And the breakfast baps used to have 2 sausages in but now they only put one sausage in sliced in half. Cutting corners and no longer value for money.

No stuffing. Gravy was just like coloured water. Also smaller portions of mac and cheese for same price. Other than that I enjoyed it. My dog also enjoyed all of his too.

Asked for 2 veg bowls as my girls only eat 3 veg barley fill a bowl. The man serving said I'll give u plates to make it easier as they had a big Yorkshire pudding. When the bill came we asked why the kids were marked down at £5 each as I specifically asked for veg bowls. Was told because they were given plates that's the price. The manager came over who was very rude and said I will take the word of the man serving the meats wouldn't bring him to the front ran out the back came back and said no it's full price because they had plates with a spoon of carrots and peas on. Never had a problem before ordering a veg bowl for my girls as they don't eat most of what's there . This time we had a rude manager a staff food server who out right lied . Sadly this experience was enough to put us off going back . We drive and hour just to go there

Really good value for money, great all you can eat breakfast although a few extra items would be nice..black pudding isn't available which is a shame. If I can criticise anything it would be the cutlery..no butter knife for toast..the knife you get is great for meat but you can't get the butter out of the plastic carton with it. In all it's a good value tasty breakfast though 👍

Food good been with my family many years the last time I had food there was still good . Then I received a 100 pound parking fine. I have since found out u have to register your car .y can't staff ask if u are using car park . If so can u Bob your reg in pad I wasn't aware u had to do this as it was a while since I dinned there. So was unaware. I had to do this .u can be rest assured I won't be eating there again shame really

My food didn’t come telling me that it got delivered when it didn’t get delivered at all I looked on my camera and there was no delivery here

The food was lovely. It was just warm enough - it would be good if it was hot. It isn’t wrapped in warm enough containers.
